Taylor Lautner Thought Taylor Swift And Kanye West’s Infamous VMAs Moment Was Just A Bit Until He Saw Swift’s Face

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards are remembered for exactly one thing: Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech to shout out Beyoncé. A less-remembered detail about that VMAs moment is that Taylor Lautner was on that stage, too, as he presented the award to Swift. Now, he has looked back on that day and revealed what was going through his head at the time.

In a recent episode of The Squeeze podcast, the host (Lautner’s wife, who is also named Taylor Lautner) asked if there was a moment Lautner would like to go back and change and he responded, “Probably the 2009 VMAs when I presented the award to Taylor and was unaware that the Kanye thing was not a skit.”

The host noted Lautner and Swift were publicly in a relationship at the time. Lautner continued, “I presented the award to her. I took five steps back and was standing five feet behind her. Kanye jumps up on to the stage. I could barely hear it, I can’t see them. I’m just assuming this whole thing was a practiced and rehearsed skit, because why else would Kanye West be jumping up on the stage interrupting Taylor Swift? It just didn’t make sense. If you look back at it, I’m actually caught laughing and giggling at them. […] He jumped off, she finished. The second she turned back around and I saw her face for the first time, I was like, ‘Oh. This… that wasn’t good.’”

Watch the Taylor Lautners recount the incident below.

Shenseea Still Loves Ye: ‘Such a Mastermind and Inspiration’

Shenseea Still Loves Ye: 'Such a Mastermind and Inspiration'

Words by: Brandon Simmons

Jamaican rapper Shenseea still seems to be a fan of Ye.  Despite the headlines he’s made the past year, Shenseea wants to work with the legendary rapper/producer again.

The duo worked with each other in 2021 on Donda, where Shenseea was featured on the songs, “OK OK” (Pt.2) and “Pure Souls” with Roddy Ricch.  These features led to her receiving a Grammy nomination as well as her first two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  “OK OK” (Pt. 2) reached the number 12 spot while “Pure Souls” came in at number 52.

Recently, the “Can’t Anymore” rapper did a “#AskShenseea” segment on Twitter, and one fan asked her about her experience working with The Life of Pablo artist.  She replied:

“I love him, such a mastermind and inspiration. Yes we’ll do something again, God’s willing.”

That’s not the first time she has said positive things about Ye.  Last year, in an interview with the L.A. Leakers, Shenseea mentions that the 45-year-old is an inspiration.

“I love Kanye.  Seeing him on social media and being around him is totally different.  He’s a true living inspiration.”

She also added that he showed her love and made her feel like family.  Ye noticed Shenseea after he heard her “Crocodile Teeth” freestyle in 2021 on HOT 97 with Funk Flex.  Also, on Twitter, the Alpha artist assured fans that more music is coming this year.

Last year, her debut album, Alpha, landed the number two spot on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.  Alpha is the highest-selling reggae album in the first week of 2020.

Consequence Recalls Beanie Sigel Protecting Kanye West Against Chain Snatchers

A story that Beanie Sigel first told over a decade ago is receiving a co-sign from Consequence. The rapper and producer recently caught up with The Art of Dialogue to revisit highlights of his career. Within the conversation also arrived behind-the-scenes tales of Cons and his peers—including one about Sigel saving Ye from getting his chain snatched.

“Ye hit me the same night in the situation with the girl. I think it might have been a chick named Sydney or some sh*t like that. He took her out,” said Cons. “You know, n*gga one-two’ing. Listen, n*gga running around with a Roc-A-Fella chain on. You know what that sh*t do for your p*ssy rate?”

Cons then shared that the chain West was wearing came from Dame Dash. “He had the sh*t off of Dame neck, so he had the sh*t with the Cuban in the sh*t, ice just shining,” he recalled. “N*ggas seen that man in there and was like, ‘Yo!’ N*ggas was at the Chelsea Diner on 23rd street. N*ggas hit n*ggas with the motherf*ckin’ Raekwon and Ghostface skit. ‘Word? What do we have here?’”

“I was in Queens. I woulda had to get on the train with the gun and all that sh*t.” Cons also said. However, he was glad that there was a nearby recording studio. “But you know, fortunately, Baseline wasn’t but five blocks away. They came over and held a n*gga down. I always f*cked with them n*ggas for that sh*t. They ain’t have to.”

When Sigel first delivered the tale all those years ago, he suggested West “feel threatened.” The State Property star said he told the wanna-be theives that “nothing was going to go down” as long as he was there. It’s always good to have friends who have your back. Check out Consequence retelling the story above.

Chuck D Only Wants To Talk About Kanye’s Art, Not His Scandals

We’re easing into the second month of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary, and Chuck D is celebrating the culture. The Rap pioneer witnessed the inception of Hip Hop all those years ago, and he was instrumental in the genre’s development as a member of Public Enemy. On February 7, Chuck D is releasing Livin’ Loud: ARTitation, a collection of 250 artworks, and it arrives ahead of his Fight the Power: How Hip-Hop Changed the World, a must-see series on PBS.

In a discussion with USA Today, Chuck D explained why it was necessary for him to produce this four-part docuseries. “I’m 12 years older than hip-hop and I’ve been entrenched in it my whole life. I always wanted to be a caretaker of it.” He also shared, “I grew up a child of the arts. I knew who my people were and when hip-hop came along, I saw it as a latter-day voice.”

The Fight The Power series explores Hip Hop through a different lens. Chuck touched on what he learned through the process of speaking with his acclaimed peers about the depths of Hip Hop history. He suggested that several artists were able to share their knowledge of Hip Hop because they were being presented with the right questions.

“Grandmaster Caz, Monie Love, Eminem,” he began. “They all sound like scholars because they were never presented with questions of depth and detail about hip-hop before. I learned that when you present questions in a high regard, when quality is the conversation as opposed to quantity, everybody came up with answers that went beyond what was expected.”

Elsewhere, the Rap icon was also questioned about a drawing of Kanye West featured in his art book. Chuck D was asked if he was disappointed that West seemed more interested in attention than the message itself. He replied, “I don’t look at Kanye as being any different than Salvador Dalí. I’m gonna keep it to your art and go no further.”

“I’m not in the business of making Black people or Black art look bad,” Chuck D answered. “Celebrity is a drug of the USA. They try to tell you it’s a drug of the world, but you go other places and they’ll tell you that you’re an entertainer, you have no political voice. They say, play a song and don’t say anything to the audience. And the No. 1 job of an entertainer is to abide by that law. I learned that with Public Enemy or we would have been Brittney Griner a long time ago. And no one was coming to get a Black male.”

Consequence Says That Kanye Thought His Career Was Over After Taylor Swift VMA’s Incident

Kanye West and Taylor Swift feud

Kanye’s Taylor Swift VMA’s incident is one of the most talked about and infamous moments in hip-hop history. The incident even caught the attention of former President Barack Obama who called Ye a “jackass” for getting on stage and saying Beyoncé should have won. The backlash Kanye got from the incident was overwhelming, causing Ye to go into isolation for over a year while he crafted what he called his “apology” album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. While most people look back and laugh, and even agree with Ye, at the time, it looked like Ye’s career might’ve never recovered. According to Consequence, Ye even thought his career was over after the incident.

In an interview with HipHopDX, Consequence shared some insight into Kanye’s mindset after the incident, and thought that his actions cost him his career after “Power” failed to garner the same attention as other singles like “Gold Digger,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” and “Stronger.”

“To be 100 percent honest, ‘Power’ is ‘Power’ now, but that was the first record off that cycle and ‘Power’ was kinda the first time it didn’t go all the way,” Cons said. “It didn’t do what ‘Gold Digger’ did, it didn’t do what ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ did, and it didn’t do what ‘Stronger’ did.

“So it was kinda like, ‘What we gonna do?’ We ain’t got no out-the-gates smash. We got a single and they playing it, but it wasn’t that one. That’s how G.O.O.D. Fridays come about.”

He added that this situation made Kanye change his rollout strategy, and ended up creating G.O.O.D. Fridays, where he would release a new song every Friday until MBDTF released.

“It doesn’t eradicate the Taylor Swift incident. It’s not big enough to K.O. that. Brands ain’t gonna forget that, touring ain’t gonna forget that, so forth and so on. So which put Kanye in a corner, and he came out flying with G.O.O.D. Fridays.”

Kanye West’s Stadium Recording Studio For Rent At $50K Per Hour

The unveiling of Donda back in 2021 was a theatrical effort, and Kanye West spared no expense. That year, it was even alleged that he moved into Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where he not only made himself at home but also installed a recording studio. Fivio Foreign was featured on Ye’s album and previously revealed the Rap mogul kept strict rules about how people should dress and act while inside his specially-made area.

Now, says the app StuFinder, anyone can rent the space all for themselves. It may have reportedly cost West $1 million per day to live and record in the space, but you can snag it for $50,000 per hour.

Further, StuFinder posted the listing online and seemed as surprised as anyone else that it was available.

“We are aware someone has listed the Studio room Kanye West recorded ‘DONDA’ on our App,” the company also wrote. “We will update you when someone books it! Stay tuned.”

There were concerns that a scammer could take advantage of the public. StuFinder further clarified that interested parties wouldn’t be charged until the hist accepts.

“You’ll never have to worry about being scammed on Stufinder.”

Kanye West Is Being Investigated For Battery After Snatching A Woman’s Phone As She Filmed Him

TMZ reports Kanye West is under investigation after being accused of battery by a woman whose phone he snatched. Kanye was apparently leaving his daughter North’s basketball game when he confronted the woman and a man, who were in a car recording him. In a video posted online, Kanye can be seen accosting the voyeurs from his SUV, eventually getting out and telling them to stop filming him.

“If I say stop, stop with your cameras!” he says. However, the woman argues that because he’s a celebrity, he ought to be used to it. That only sets him off; he grabs her phone out of her hand and chucks it into the street. You can watch the video below:

Kanye has a well-documented history of confrontations with the paparazzi. As recently as last year, he was making arguments that they should pay the subjects for their photos as he was being investigated for battery for allegedly punching a fan who asked for an autograph. He didn’t face charges in that incident because Los Angeles City Attorneys declined to file them. Kanye also previously attacked a photographer in 2013 for getting overly aggressive on a day he was just not in the mood.

Amber Rose Says People Are Obsessed With Her & Kanye West’s Past Relationship

As one of the most well-known rappers in the world, Kanye West has been in no shortage of high-profile relationships throughout his career. Of course, his marriage to Kim Kardashian is one of the most talked about. However, fans also love to reminisce on the time he spent romancing Amber Rose.

The pair were together from 2008 to 2010. They made a serious mark on pop culture with their bold style choices and wild antics. Things obviously didn’t work out between them. At this point, though, Rose sounds as though she’s moved on from the past.

She made this clear during her recent appearance on the Sofia with an F podcast. During the interview, the host asked the model which of her exes she loves more – West, or Wiz Khalifa?

“Out of Kanye and Wiz? Wiz, girl!” Rose replied with a laugh. “That’s not even a question. I think people like to ask about my relationship with Kanye, but it was 13 years ago guys,” she reminded listeners. However, the mother of two did still give the Yeezy creative credit for the role he played in helping her rise to fame.

“I feel like people are obsessed with [Ye and me] because it was a great time in pop culture,” she additionally dished to Sofia Franklyn. “But in my personal life, it is not relevant.”

In the same interview, Rose reflected on the current state of her love life, revealing that she would be content being single forever. “It’s worse than ever,” she said of the present dating game. “[Men are] pretty disgusting out here. They’re f*cking gross.”

On the opposite end of the spectrum, West has already married again. He and Australian beauty Bianca Censori tied the knot less than a year after his separation from Kardashian was finalized.
