Report: Drake Is The Most Streamed Artist This Year; YoungBoy Never Broke Again No.2

drake

It’s only been a little less than three months of 2022 and music consumers can’t get enough of Drake. So far this year, the 6 God is the most streamed artist in the country.

According to Chart Data, Drake’s music received 1.4 billion streams, barely edging out YoungBoy Never Broke Again 1.3 billion streams.

Katy Perry’s 1.2 billion streams came third, The Weeknd and Juice World are tied at 1.1 billion streams, and Kanye West came next with 840 million streams.

It seems as if everybody loved Drake’s Certified Lover Boy because it propelled him to the top of the streaming charts.

If Drake closes out the year as the top, this will be the second consecutive year as the most-streamed artist in the United States. Last year Drizzy finished with a total of 8.6 billion on-demand streams, meaning that one out of every 131 streams was a Drake song.

Earlier this year, Drake became the first Hip Hop artist to hit the 1 Billion mark on Spotify in 2022. Drake now joins the likes of The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, BTS, and Justin Bieber as the only artist to surpass 1 billion on Spotify this year.

Drake Reportedly Lands A Restraining Order Against A Woman Who Threatened Him Via Email

Earlier this month, Drake sought a restraining order against a woman who, for lack of a better phrase, just won’t leave him alone. Back in 2017, 29-year-old Mesha Collins was arrested for trespassing after she broke into the rapper’s home where she allegedly stole bottles of water, Pepsi, and Sprite. She was also found wearing one of Drake’s hoodies. Despite being convicted of the charges, Collins would reportedly continue to make visits to Drake’s house following the 2017 arrest. More recently, she allegedly sent threatening emails to Drake with one telling him to “put a bullet through your head now b*tch.” All of this prompted him to request the restraining order.

Thankfully for Drake, that order was granted to him. According to HipHopDX (who cites RadarOnline), a judge approved the order and it extends to Drake’s son Adonis and his parents Sandy and Dennis Graham. The exact terms of the restraining order are unknown at the moment, but it’s not the first one that’s been placed on Collins. Following her 2017 arrest, Collins was ordered to stay 100 yards away from Drake, his home, his family, and his workplace.

The approved restraining order comes after Collins attempted to sue Drake for $4 billion claiming that he defamed her about the trespassing incident through his songs and posts on Instagram. However, her lawsuit was thrown out after Drake proved that he did not know it was Collins that broke into his home until he received the $4 billion lawsuit.

Drake And Jack Harlow Link Up And Bro Down In Turks And Caicos

Ever since coming into the rap game, Jack Harlow has been pretty open about idolizing Drake. While on tour in November last year, he stopped his Toronto show upon realizing that Drake was watching from the balcony, and his new single “Nail Tech” sounds a lot like something Drake would have put on his own last album, Certified Lover Boy. The two rappers have drawn comparisons before, with fans noting the similarities in their laid-back but confident styles and regular-guy postures as Jack’s profile has increased over the past two years.

All of that is to say that watching the two of them link up and bro down in Turks and Caicos via their various social media posts seems about as inevitable as it has been amusing. The two definitely share a sense of humor, lending their posts the air of a buddy comedy like Step Brothers or Superbad, if one of the characters was the “older brother” archetype. Witness Drake’s bemused reaction to Harlow hovering over him as he Googles exotic beverages:

Complex even captured Drake’s laugh-filled response to Harlow’s post, in which he explains he was looking up the ingredients for a “weng weng drink” (vodka, tequila, rum, bourbon, brandy, and scotch in a collins glass — yikes).

All of this begs the question: If Jack Harlow is going to play the Billy Hoyle counterpart in the upcoming White Men Can’t Jump Remake… Does that make Drake his Sidney Deane?!?

Please, universe. Make it happen.

Drake Trades In His Doxxed YOLO Mansion For A $70 Million Beverly Hills ‘Trophy’ Estate

Drake's House

Drake is finally saying “goodbye” to his private Hidden Hills estate in the San Fernando Valley to get right up into the action with an unmatched Beverly Hills “trophy” estate.  According to Realtor.com,  Drake is asking for a cool $14.8 million dollars for the “Y.O.L.O” Mansion where he would hold exclusive celebrity parties. The spectacular […]

Drake Is Selling Three Of His Houses In California For A $20 Million Total

Drake is unloading some of his property and looks to make a tidy sum, according to a new report from TMZ. He recently listed his Hidden Hills mansion — which he affectionately calls the “YOLO Estate” — for $14.8 million. For that amount, the buyer will be getting full-sized basketball and tennis courts, a swimming pool (complete with a spa grotto and water slide), a theater that seats 25, a horse stable, and 12,500 square feet of space. He’s also selling two adjacent properties for a grand total of $22.2 million.

Complex notes that the impetus for Drake’s home sale is likely his recent purchase of a new home in Los Angeles’ Beverly Crest neighborhood, which was reported in Architectural Digest. Apparently, Drake is buying English singer Robbie Williams’ home, which despite going unlisted is estimated at $50 million. It’s a good 7,000 square feet larger than the YOLO Estate, although according to Complex, it’s still much smaller than his mansion in Toronto, which is a whopping 50,000 square feet.

Although it wasn’t reported as an official reason for his move, it’ll likely also be nice to possibly throw off Drake’s stalker, who showed up at the Hidden Hills house multiple times looking for him, even going so far as to sneak in and steal some of his drinks. He’s since filed a restraining order — after she tried to have one filed against him first — but perhaps moving house will provide an added layer of security along with all that extra space.
