Pusha T Doesn’t Mind Hearing Drake Diss Him In Songs: ‘It Just Lets Me Know How Deep It Hurt Him’

Nothing gets past Pusha T. With over two decades in the rap game, the rapper can catch a sub from a mile away. Such is the case with rapper Drake, who is thought to have fired some cryptic shots at Pusha T over the past four years after Push dissed him on the scathing track, “The Story Of Adidon.

Thankfully, Push isn’t too bothered by Drake’s alleged disses, as he revealed in a recent interview with XXL. Rather, he believes Drizzy is still hurt by their much-publicized musical row.

“Every time I hear a subliminal in one of his songs, it just lets me know how deep it hurt him,” he said. “Because it’s been four years now. And we still talking about it. He is. I don’t. I’m cool. But every time it’s a subliminal, I’m like, yes. It burns. It still burns. It lets me know. I love it.”

Drake has never mentioned Push by name, however, Push revealed that he’s not sure what he would do if this were the case, nor does he ever expect it to happen. Either way, he doesn’t intend to invest any more energy into the feud.

“We should see,” said Push. “I don’t know what he’ll do. At this point, that’s contradictory. Would he jump out the window? And he wanna say I took it too far? Then he gon’ tell people. Tell the label. Tell J. Prince. My God. It’s a lot. With all of that being said, it’s like I’m not interested anymore. I’m just really not.”

Pusha-T Claims 'They Won't Publish' a Children's Book He's Been Trying To Write For Years

Drake has been continuously sliding bars toward Pusha T.

On Her Loss, the boy hit “On BS” and dropped off a set of bars directed toward King Push after he once suggested issues with doing shows in Canada.

“You ain’t banned from ’round here, n-gga, come get off your show/Savage said you pussy and he hit it on the nose/But that border opеn, why you actin’ like it’s closed?”

While helping out Jack Harlow on “Churchill Downs,” many believed bars about “plug talk coming from middlemen” and Drake’s “urges for revenge are uncontrollable” are also directed at Pusha T.

Well, what does Pusha T think about these jabs throughout 2022? He’s unbothered. Speaking with C. Vernon Coleman II for XXL, King Push says he knows he made an impact.

“Every time I hear a subliminal in one of his songs, it just lets me know how deep it hurt him,” Pusha T said. “Because it’s been four years now. And we still talking about it. He is. I don’t. I’m cool. But every time it’s a subliminal, I’m like, Yes. It burns. It still burns. It lets me know. I love it.”

Despite Drake’s best effort to bait Pusha, the Virginia rapper sums it up like this: “I’m not interested anymore.”

Pusha T On Drake’s Subliminal Disses: “I Love It”

It’s been four long years since the explosive feud between Pusha T and Drake spread across the internet. In a matter of days, the two rappers threw shots at each other via diss tracks, though Push’s “The Story Of Adidon” was really the nail in the coffin. The former G.O.O.D Music president pulled the curtain back on Drake’s family life, took shots at his engineer, and used a photo of the rapper wearing Blackface for the cover art. However, Drake decided to pull back from the feud before responding to the record.

In a recent interview with XXL, Pusha T reflected on the feud and how things have shaped up years later. Though we don’t hear Drake speak about Push often, the Canadian rapper does throw a few shots at his nemesis subliminally. However, Push doesn’t mind it at all.

“Every time I hear a subliminal in one of his songs, it just lets me know how deep it hurt him,” the rapper said. “Because it’s been four years now. And we still talking about it. He is. I don’t. I’m cool. But every time it’s a subliminal, I’m like, Yes. It burns, it still burns. It lets me know. I love it.”

On the other hand, Push explained that he doesn’t think Drake will ever release a diss track towards him in the future. Seeing as how Drake went through J. Prince and a few other parties before deciding against releasing a “career-ending” diss track, Pusha T said that he’s “not interested anymore.”

“We should see. I don’t know what he’ll do,” he said. “At this point, that’s contradictory. Would he jump out the window? And he wanna say I took it too far? Then he gon’ tell people. Tell the label. Tell J Prince. My God. It’s a lot. With all of that being said, it’s like I’m not interested anymore. I’m just really not.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Pusha T revealed that he’s working on a new album.

Drake Thinks Those ‘Sassy Drake’ ‘Rich Flex’ Memes Are Pretty Funny Too

One of the reasons Drake has had such longevity in pop culture is his self-awareness. Although he’s been the butt of plenty of jokes over the years, he’s never let it get to him. In fact, he’s embraced many of the memes, doubling down and even creating business opportunities out of them.

Most recently, his sassy intro on the Her Loss song “Rich Flex” in which he implores his rhyme partner 21 Savage to “do something for me” inspired a slew of cheeky memes on TikTok. In them, fans imagine the Canadian superstar rolling his neck, putting his hands on his hips, and generally using body language that matches his saucy tone. While 21 himself was floored by the memes during a recent interaction with Twitch streamer Kai Cenat, Drake got to share his own reaction during a live stream with betting app Stake (which he helped promote over the weekend by putting a million-dollar parlay on the World Cup — he lost, but Argentina won).

He said that during a recent club outing, a female companion questioned him about being the butt of so many memes. In response, he explained, “I understand after all these years that, I feel like I have a polarizing presence. I’m almost a character in people’s movies and therefore there’s a running a dialogue. There’s jokes, you’re either the villain to some people or hero to some people. It is what it is, it just comes with the territory… I’ve always been able to laugh at myself, but I really do feel now that I mentally am able to separate the two. So I just want to stay in that zone, that’s kinda my resolution.”

Drake Off-Handedly Confirmed He’s Planning To Go On Tour In 2023

Alex Moss recently revealed his “Previous Engagements” piece for Drake, a 351.38-carat diamond necklace comprised of 42 engagement rings and representing “all the times he thought about it but never did it.” Well, Drake has at least committed to one thing for 2023. It appears that RIAA’s newly crowned highest-selling singles artist was semi-serious during his faux Her Loss promotion cycle with 21 Savage — or, at least about touring.

Drake was smoking hookah and relaxing by the pool during a livestream for Stake over the weekend when he was asked what he’s looking most forward to about next year. “Tour,” he said. “Ah, man, I can’t wait to see people.” He briefly reflected in disbelief that his last tour, Aubrey And The Three Migos, was all the way back in 2018. “And you know, it’s so unfortunate — the other day, I was rehearsing. I rehearsed a bunch of days, and one of the shows had gotten pushed back,” he continued. “But yeah, man, I’m just looking forward to going. It’s one thing to make the music, but to see it is the most gratifying feeling.”

It’s unclear precisely which postponed show Drake was describing, but earlier this month, his debut Apollo Theater show was pushed to January due to “production delays.”

Since 2018’s Scorpion, Drake has dropped three more No. 1 albums — 2021’s Certified Lover Boy; July’s Honestly, Nevermind; and last month’s Her Loss joint effort with 21 Savage — plus his Dark Lane Demo Tapes in 2020 and the three-song Scary Hours 2 in March 2021.

During Drake’s aforementioned fake media blitz with Savage around the release of Her Loss, he staged a spoof Howard Stern interview that teased a 2023 show in Savage’s native London. “A lot of people are like, ‘Yo, you’re like the pride of London,’” Drake said to Savage then. “That’s why that London, that O2 night, like, that has to happen. That’s gonna be some different — that’s like some real homecoming sh*t. I’m excited for that.”

In October, Drake performed in Atlanta for the first time since 2018 when he surprisingly joined 21 Savage’s set at the Morehouse-Spelman homecoming concert.

Drake Addresses “Rich Flex” Memes

Drake and 21 Savage continue to ride high off of Her Loss. The collaborative album from the two artists came with an entire rollout that was a meme in and of itself. Drake and 21 Savage delivered mock interviews and performances on platforms like Howard Stern and SNL.

However, Drake’s opening bars on “Rich Flex” took a life of their own. Drizzy’s sassy delivery at the top of the record spurred memes across the Internet. Shortly after its release, the song unintentionally became a trend on TikTok due to Drake’s numerous requests for 21 Savage. Though it may have painted Drake in a somewhat unflattering light, it ultimately propelled the song to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Over the weekend, the Canadian rapper finally addressed the memes surrounding “Rich Flex.” During the Drake X Stake stream, he detailed a conversation with a drunk woman at a bar who asked him how he’s able to deal with people always making fun of him, specifically due to the “Rich Flex” memes.

“I understand after all these years that, I feel like I have a polarizing presence. I’m almost a character in people’s movies and therefore, there’s a running dialogue. There’s jokes. You’re either the villain to some people or hero to some people,” he explained.

After a 10+ year run in the game, Drake said that he understands that “it just comes with the territory.” As projects like Honestly, Nevermind show, there’s always room to explore other avenues, even if it doesn’t resonate with everyone. However, he said that he’s able to take a joke without reacting negatively to what the Internet has to say about him.

“But ultimately, I’ve just found a way,” he said. “I’ve always been able to laugh at myself, but I really do feel now that I mentally am able to separate the two. So I just want to stay in that zone, that’s kinda my resolution. I feel really good right now.”
