Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido and More Announced as Headliners for Lost in Riddim Festival

Lost In Riddim 2022 Music Lineup 1

The renowned R&B/hip-hop/soul music festival Sol Blume’s organizers have announced their afrobeats music festival, Lost In Riddim, which will take place this fall on October 1-2.

Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido, three of Nigeria’s top performers, will coheadline the event with other international performers like Ella Mai, Skepta, Kizz Daniel, Sean Paul, Tems, and others in honor of Nigerian Independence Day Weekend the exact same weekend.

The festival is moving to Lake Cunningham Park in San Jose, California, just southwest of its previous home in Sacramento after a successful first event last fall. The outdoor festival will have a significantly wider footprint, two main stages with non-overlapping performances for audiences, a third, much smaller tent stage, and all-day DJ sets.

This year’s festivities will be more accessible to attendees than ever thanks to the new venue in San Jose, which also provides more activations, immersive art, vendors, and space for dancing with other music lovers inside the festival, as well as more transportation and lodging options for out-of-town visitors.

“As proud children of immigrant parents, we created Lost In Riddim because we wanted to offer a festival experience more authentic to ourselves and our culture. Something that speaks to us not only as music fans, but who we are as people,” said Fornati Kumeh, festival co-founder and talent buyer. “With a new and larger location, not to mention this incredible lineup of international artists locked in to perform, I’m expecting this to be a weekend for the record books. We really hope fans worldwide will come show out at Lost In Riddim this October.”

The festival, like its predecessor, will also feature popular forms of African, Caribbean, and Black American music, such as reggae, dancehall, afro-fusion, hip-hop, R&B, and others. International superstars like Ella Mai and Skepta, both from the United Kingdom, are notable performers outside of the afrobeats genre. A number of Jamaican artists, such Sean Paul and Koffee, have also been added to the lineup, along with hip-hop artists like the Grammy Award-winning rapper Wale, who is from Washington, D.C.

Audiomack Punjabi, a new vertical focusing on enhancing the renowned genre, introducing it to new audiences, and delivering diverse playlists spotlighting the region’s most popular modern musicians, was launched today by artist-first music streaming service Audiomack.

Punjabi will now be available alongside hip-hop, Afrobeats, Latin, Caribbean, and other popular genres on the streaming service. Punjabi Verified, 808 Pind (Village), Ishq, Party Pataka, Punjab to Canada, Punjabi Duets, and more will be added to the newly launched playlists, which will be updated regularly.

Amrit Maan, The PropheC, Himmat Sandhu, Ezu, Jasmine Sandlas & Gur Sidhu, Karan Aujla, Himanshi Khurana, and Baani Sandhu, as well as the late-great Sidhu Moose Wala, will be the initial cover stars of Audiomack’s playlists.

We are excited to officially launch the Punjabi genre on the Audiomack platform,” Audiomack co-founder and CMO David Ponte said. “These new playlists and trending section will position Punjabi artists alongside hip-hop, Afrobeats, and Latin music, rightfully giving them a share of an ever-growing pie of hungry music fans. We are confident that Audiomack’s free suite of tools, including the Creator App, Supporters, and discovery solutions, will connect this growing genre with prospective fans worldwide. Our mission is to be a catalyst for the genre’s international growth, much like our impact on Afrobeats’ popularity in the West, for years to come and share the talents of these undeniable artists with Audiomack’s users.”

The inauguration of the new vertical pays homage to the genre’s long history and legacy in India and Pakistan. It’s an opportunity for Audiomack to better serve fans around the world, educate new listeners about the Punjabi sound, and highlight the region’s cultural achievements.

“Punjabi music has been pushing into the mainstream space like Latin and AfroBeats for a minute. It’s great to see Audiomack have their ear to the ground and have the foresight to give our music the platform it deserves,” Punjabi artist Jaz Dhami said. “I feel Audiomack will help close the gap between genres even further as it’s not your typical streaming site. Globally, this is going to help link artists like never before.”

Beyond Asia, the genre is popular amongst the massive Indian diaspora across the globe.

“We are delighted to formalize the association with Audiomack, allowing our artists and the extensive catalog of Punjabi music to reach global audiences along with the other popular genres like hip-hop, Afro Beats, Latin and many more,” Believe Digital Regional Director (Believe – Artist Services, India) Shilpa Sharda said. “This collaboration will be a great addition to our existing brand relationships and an immense opportunity for our artists to build up their fan base internationally.”

[WATCH] Koffee Teams with VEVO for ‘LIFT’ Series Performances

THUMBNAIL 2 2

Koffee’s third and final performance in her LIFT series, “Runaway,” from her new album Gifted, was posted today on Vevo, the world’s top music video network. In 2019, Koffee debuted on Vevo as a Vevo DSCVR artist, performing performances of “Toast” and “Raggamuffin.”

THUMBNAIL 2 1

“We’re thrilled to continue 2022’s LIFT program with Koffee,” says Claudia de Wolff, Vice President, C&P, EU. “Her ambition, positivity and creative energy are unmatched, all qualities that are incredibly valuable in such a heavily collaborative project. We were so excited to have the opportunity to work with her and assist in spreading such a positive, uplifting message to her fans, and hope everyone enjoys this beautiful content.”

Vevo and Koffee worked closely together to use projection, light, and set design in a neutral yet elegant venue to draw inspiration from the images and aesthetics of the West Indies. The photograph, which was taken in a townhouse in Central London, was intended to depict Koffee’s energy and positivity while she was surrounded by her band and gospel choir. The films attempted to toy with the audience’s perception of space, demonstrating that the West Indies is more than just a geographical location, but also a vibe, feeling, and power that pervades its people’s spirits.

You can see the three performances below.
