Kid Cudi Has Rescheduled ‘About 80 Percent’ Of His ‘Insano World Tour’ After His Foot Injury, And He’s ‘Feeling Fantastic’

Kid Cudi is experiencing the highest of highs and lowest of lows — from announcing his engagement and staging a surprise Coachella 2024 set to breaking his foot during his Coachella set and subsequently canceling his Insano World Tour.

We’re back to the good news portion of the cycle, as Cudi posted two videos on X (formerly Twitter) to update his fans on his recovery and Insano World Tour before sneaking in mention of imminent new music.

“I’m all good,” he said in the first video. “I’m feeling fantastic. Healing is going great. Therapy has been great. No pain. I think I’m gonna bounce back from this stronger than ever, so there’s that. We have rescheduled about 80 percent of the tour. […] We just have to lock in some dates, but I’ll give you guys a heads up on when that will be.”

Cudi explained that his Insano World Tour was “gonna be physically demanding, so I might have to change some things, depending on how my recovery goes,” but overall, he’s optimistic.

And then, Cudi spent five minutes hyping up his next batch of music.

“I started something toward the end of the year last year that I really think is something special,” he said. “I want to give you a taste of it soon. Hopefully, before summer is up, you’ll hear something — something tasty, something new. Every album is a reinvention, yeah? You’ve known me. You know I always like to switch it up, try something new, [and] challenge myself. I think this is gonna remind people of the days where I was really trying to explore and try to feel something in the music.”

Cudi referenced his past classics like “Up Up & Away,” “Erase Me,” and “Heart Of A Lion” as the sort of “anthems” he’s aiming to reproduce with his forthcoming album, except “elevated” to represent “me now, happy, in a new place.”

Fans looking forward to seeing Kid Cudi will have to wait for another time. The star has canceled his Insano World Tour after breaking an ankle during his Coachella set.

Kid Cudi announced on X that he has a broken calcaneus. Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.

“Guys, so, I have a broken calcaneus,” he wrote. “I’m headed to surgery now and there’s gonna be a long recovery time. We have to cancel the tour so I can focus on getting better to be out there in top shape to rage with you all. Theres just no way I can bounce back in time to give 100%. The injury is much more serious than I thought. Anyone who bought tickets will get a full refund, you’ll get an email soon. Kid Cudi Vows ‘No More Prancing’ After Breaking His Foot At Coachella 2024 And Gives An Update On His ‘Insano World Tour’ Status

Kid Cudi broke his foot while performing at the second weekend of Coachella 2024, but his sense of humor is intact, at least.

“Hey, guys, yeah, sh*t got real yesterday,” Cudi said in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning, April 22. “This is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around off stage like he’s 26 — like he used to do back in the day. I learned a valuable lesson: No more prancing around, jumping off stages.”

Cudi went on to explain that he’s “hoping” to be “healed up” in time for his Insano World Tour, which is scheduled to begin on June 28.

“I don’t want to let you guys down,” he said. “That’s what we’re aiming for. Not canceling anything just yet. Just gonna wait and see how things go, but I’m OK. A little sore. Yesterday, [I was in] a lot of pain, but I’m doing better now. I have a little temporary cast on now, and I gotta go get a real cast in a little bit. Apparently, I broke something in my heel. This is a major setback, but don’t worry. I’ma bounce back. I love y’all. All day. Engage the rage. But not at 40.”

Hopefully, Cudi wasn’t planning on getting married to Lola Abecassis Sartorehis newly announced fiancée — in the immediate future because a broken heel might complicate walking down the aisle.

Kid Cudi Shares The Dates For His Star-Studded “INSANO” World Tour

Kid Cudi has already had a VERY busy 2024. He kicked the year off back in January with the release of his new album INSANO. The album was originally due out last year but was eventually delayed to 2024. The album features an impressive array of collaborators including Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Pharrell Williams, XXXTENTACION, Lil Wayne, and Young Thug. But Cudi wasn’t done with just the one album as he’s already shared a follow-up to the record.

Last month, Cudi dropped the INSANO (NITRO MEGA) edition. Many fans assumed that it would just be a deluxe edition of INSANO but it turned out to be an entirely new project of its own. It added nearly an hour of entirely original material and added artists like Pusha T, Wiz Khalifa, and more to Cudi’s impressive roster of features so far this year. Last month, Cudi soft-announced an upcoming tour in support of both records and recently he shared the official dates. Check out his official announcement below.

Fans were expecting a big tour from Cudi, but what they got was even more substantial. Cudi announced 31 North American dates taking place this year in dozens of major American cities. He also revealed 12 European dates he’ll planning on playing next year. Even more impressive might be the roster of talent coming with him on tour. Pusha T, Jaden, Earthgang, and more will be among the opening acts for various shows across the tour.

The tour kicks off later this year in June and pre-sale for tickets begins later this week. Fans who register for the pre-sale now will be able to get first dibs on tickets for the shows next week on March 12. General sale for the shows begins a few days later on March 15. Kid Cudi “INSANO (NITRO MEGA)” Review

Kid Cudi said in his 2021 documentary, A Man Named Scott that he no longer desires “to make any more dark records.” His 2020 album, Man On The Moon III: The Chosen, closed his iconic saga that introduced his unconventional style and emotionally transparent lyricism. Early in his career, fans connected to Cudi through songs that saw him in his most desolate state. Man On the Moon III concluded this chapter in his musical journey, but it also signified the start of something new. Lately, Kid Cudi has tapped into other aspects of his musical skill set. His Entergalactic album chronicled the love story of his star-studded animated film of the same name.

After all these years, it seems that Kid Cudi does not have anything to prove to his core fanbase. Last month, he unleashed INSANO, his latest studio album that saw him simply enjoying himself, freely experimenting with his sound. More rap-oriented than any previous project, Cudi traded his catchy melodies and irresistible hums for fast flows. A more upbeat and modern album is a natural progression for Kid Cudi considering his newfound lighter approach to music. While INSANO consisted of high-energy production, it was not varied enough to sustain its lengthy runtime. For such a long album, the announcement of a deluxe felt like an overwhelming amount of material in such a short amount of time. However, Kid Cudi’s latest offering, INSANO (NITRO MEGA), acts more as a sequel than a deluxe.

INSANO (NITRO MEGA) Is An Entirely New Album

Originally announced as a deluxe, Kid Cudi later clarified that INSANO (NITRO MEGA) is a completely new album. Acting as a spiritual successor to INSANO, its sequel contains entirely new material along with some surprises for Cudi’s day-one fans. Also included is “Electrowavebaby 2.0,” a Steve Aoki remix that reimagines the song from INSANO as a big room house banger. It brings a brand new lively energy to the original song despite feeling out of place on the album. INSANO was adventurous in its own way, but Aoki’s contributions to a house remix and a trap song with members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony speak to the wide range of NITRO MEGA that its predecessor ultimately lacked. This album continues the carefree and vibrant nature of INSANO but with more musical variety throughout the tracklist.

Much like on Man On The Moon III and Entergalactic, Kid Cudi rapped over modern trap with auto-tuned ad-libs on INSANO. NITRO MEGA continues the bouncy trap production but with more musical variety. The album includes Fast House, Jersey Club, and slower melodic tracks. The diverse tracklist makes it an entertaining listen that is unique from its precursor, but it is nothing particularly innovative or outstanding for Kid Cudi.

Where Kid Cudi’s Latest Offering Impresses and Underwhelms

The music on INSANO (NITRO MEGA) is good for the most part with Kid Cudi at peace emotionally and creatively. There is a solid mix between uptempo trap beats and laidback songs reminiscent of Man On The Moon III. NITRO MEGA includes some of the slow melodies that were mostly missing from the original, which are some of the album’s standout moments. Tracks like “Diamonds Lights Fast Cars” and “All My Life” bring the best out of Cudi vocally while “Round N Round” with Lil Yachty is one of its most generic moments.

The bursts of energy on NITRO MEGA also contribute to its dynamic tracklist. “Human Made” opens the album on a high note with an incredible beat produced by Dot Da Genius. Cudi sounds amazing on this track, switching between flows and singing a soft melody in the chorus. Songs like “Animate” also impress as Cudi flexes his illustrious career and carefree attitude. Where NITRO MEGA underwhelms is when the trap songs sound almost identical to much of INSANO. “Crash Test Cudi,” “Ill What I Bleed,” “Moon Man Shit,” and “Superboy” serve as reminders of where INSANO fell flat. However, these tracks would certainly punch harder if Kid Cudi had not released a 21-track album just a month earlier. As a standalone project, this album certainly has its highlights and its shortcomings.

INSANO (NITRO MEGA) Encompasses The Best and Worst Eras Of Kid Cudi

INSANO (NITRO MEGA) is clearly intended for day-one Kid Cudi fans. Glimpses of the old Cudi are dispersed throughout the INSANO sound. It encompasses the best and worst eras of Kid Cudi. There is the melodic creativity of the first two Man On the Moon albums and the lively confidence of Indicud and Man On the Moon III. Unfortunately, the album’s lowest moments like “Willis” also contain his most cringeworthy vocal performances reminiscent of WZRD and Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven. In fact, “Rocket (2011)” is a previously unreleased track from the WZRD sessions. It satisfies diehard fans that have demanded the song for over a decade. Still, it disconnects from the rest of the album.

Another fan favorite that sees an official release on INSANO (NITRO MEGA) is “Dose of Dopeness (2007).” This track restores the feeling of Man On The Moon Kid Cudi as a beautifully written song. It is a standout moment on the album, but it also sits awkwardly within the tracklist considering Kid Cudi’s deliberate musical progression. The inclusion of both “Rocket (2011)” and “Dose Of Dopeness (2007)” act as a time capsule for his core fanbase, highlighting his musical peaks and valleys.

Exciting & Familiar Collaborations

INSANO branched out with its guest features. It included many of the artists inspired by Kid Cudi, such as Travis Scott, Lil Yachty, and Young Thug. Except for Pharrell and Lil Wayne, the overall aesthetic and features of younger artists feel intentionally modern. The familiar collaborations on INSANO (NITRO MEGA) on the other hand appear to be catered to Cudi’s core fans. Frequent collaborator Chip Tha Ripper returns to his old alias for two songs, and the aforementioned Steve Aoki tracks add to their working relationship. The features from Layzie and Krayzie Bone are an organic Cleveland connection. Additionally, Cudi and Pusha T’s reconnection recalls the GOOD Music days. It was good to see him branching out on INSANO, but he has significantly better chemistry with most of the collaborators on NITRO MEGA.

Overall, Kid Cudi’s latest offering plays more smoothly than its predecessor because of its eclectic tracklist, though it has its blemishes. In one way, it jumps all over the place, but it is also a well-rounded and enjoyable listen. Lyrically, it is not anything extraordinary, but it makes its point as a fun project dedicated to Cudi’s day-one supporters. INSANO (NITRO MEGA) is ultimately nothing groundbreaking. However, it serves its purpose for an artist who has constantly pushed himself musically. Kid Cudi is still very much in a creative zone, churning out a whopping 39 songs already this year with more new material on the way. It speaks to his artistic evolution and his personal growth.

Who Is Opening For Kid Cudi’s ‘Insano World Tour’ In 2024?

Kid Cudi is making good on all his promises to fans in 2023. After delaying his anticipated album, Insano, the project is finally available across streaming platforms. As an added treat, the “Heaven’s Galaxy” rapper released the deluxe version shortly after. Now, after a string of pop-up shows, Cudi is ready to embark on a full tour to support a body of work.

Yesterday (February 22), Cudi took to his official X (formerly Twitter) page to tease his forthcoming Insano World Tour. So, what do we know about the schedule of performances? To be honest, not much in terms of dates and ticket prices. However, thanks to the graphic shared by Cudi and the tour’s fan sign-up webpage, two opening acts have been unveiled.

Continue below for more information.

Who Is Opening For Kid Cudi’s Insano World Tour In 2024?

So far, Pusha T and Jaden are the only confirmed guests for the Insano World Tour. But Kid Cudi has hinted that more musicians will be added to the lineup later.

Pusha T

Rap veteran Pusha T is the first name listed on the announcement poster, and rightfully so. The Virginia Beach, Virginia native made his bones as part of the sibling hip-hop duo Clipse (known for hits songs “Grindin” and “Mr. Me Too” produced by The Neptunes). As a soloist, Pusha T has found success under Kanye West’s GOOD Music Imprint, releasing a series of revered mixtapes and albums. But his most popular track to date is his 2018 record “The Story Of Adidon,” his diss toward Drake.

However, now that Pusha T has distanced himself from West, Cudi and West reconciled, things could get interesting on the road.

Jaden

Jaden is the second supporting act listed on Kid Cudi’s Insano World Tour announcement graphic. If you were asking yourself, is that the Jaden you think it is…yes it is. Jaden, a.k.a Jaden Smith, the actor, humanitarian, and musician, will join Cudi on the road. Most people tend to remember Jaden from his on-screen cameos in films such as The Pursuit Of Happyness and Karate Kid. Still, most of his creative pursuits are in music (i.e., Spider-Man: Miles Morales soundtrack appearance).

Jaden first broke into music with his hit 2017 song, “Icon.” Given Jaden’s deep admiration and friendship with Cudi, his set will be interesting to watch.

Kid Cudi Blames His Late Album Release On His Label

Last month, Kid Cudi released his new album INSANO. The project was originally announced last year and passed through numerous release dates before eventually dropping in early January. The album sports a stacked feature list with Travis Scott, Lil Yachty, Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell, XXXTENTACION, and Young Thug all making appearances. But just a month later he’s unleashed an entire new project.

NITRO MEGA is a pseudo-deluxe edition of INSANO that presents a full hour of new material spaced across 18 tracks. The album adds Wiz Khalifa, Pusha T, and more to the list of big features. But fans looking to stream the album the moment it dropped found that it didn’t arrive on time. A few hours before it was due to drop Cudi took to Twitter in an attempt to explain why it wouldn’t be arriving on time.
