Lil Dicky Details The ‘Incredibly Anticlimactic’ Process Of Recording His New Album

This summer will mark the seven-year anniversary of Lil Dicky’s debut (and so far only) album, 2015’s Professional Rapper. Dicky (aka Dave Burd) hasn’t just been doing nothing since then, though, as most notably, he’s starred in his FX series Dave. Now, he’s trying his best to get back into album mode and on The Late Late Show last night, he described his recording process and how work on his second album is coming along.

In an interview alongside Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul‘s Giancarlo Esposito, Dicky said of how his studio days go, “It’s incredibly anticlimactic. I wake up around 9 a.m.; That’s when I do my best rapping, like 9 to like 11 a.m. It really is a coin flip: If I have too stuffed of a nose on any given day, then I have to address the stuffiness. I have, like, different sprays.” Then, gesturing to Esposito, he added, “By the way, I could use you on a song,” which got an enthusiastic response from both Esposito and James Corden.

As for when the album is set to come out, Dicky said, “Honestly, I can’t even answer that question. It’s just not done yet, and at this point, I might as well really make it ideal, because it’s been, like, truly seven years. And I’m sorry to all my fans. I’m working as hard as I can every day. It might seem like I’m not working hard on it, but I really am. It’s just hard to multitask with the show. Every day, if I’m working 16 hours on the show, it’s hard to come home… you have eight hours of sleep and somehow figure out how to write a song.”

He added, “I’m really excited, I’ve been doing my best work the last six months and I feel really good right now.”

Big Freedia Is Pumped About Beyoncé Sampling Her On ‘Break My Soul’

We are truly in the midst of surprise release season. First Drake came through with Honestly, Nevermind and now Beyoncé arrives with “Break My Soul,” which, like the Drake album, is also a fresh dose of dance music. Beyoncé got some help on this one, as the track samples Big Freedia’s “Explode,” about which Freedia is pleased.

Freedia wrote on Instagram last night, “It feels surreal to be on the track with the Queen Beyonce once again I’m so honored to be apart of this special moment I’m forever grateful lord. someone please catch me. [Blaqnmild] my brother and I been working along time congratulations fam. [Beyonce] love you so much.” Freedia also added in an Instagram Story, “Overwhelmed with tears of joy. my God is so real the things he can do in your life. only if y’all know where I come from and how hard this journey has been I’m forever grateful thanks so much for loving me for who l am. this for all of y’all.”

The release of “Break My Soul” has parallels to that of Beyoncé’s “Formation,” which was also a surprise release back in 2016 and also features Freedia, who provides ad libs on the track.

HER Is Suing Her Label MBK Entertainment

Last month, it was reported that the Grammy-winner HER, real name Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, was being sued by acapella gospel group Take 6 who claimed that she used an “obvious” sample of the sextet’s song, “Come Unto Me” in her collaboration with Bryson Tiller “Could’ve Been.” Now, she’s doing the suing—against her label.

The Blast have reported that the singer is suing MBK Entertainment for the rights to her music catalog. The lawsuit was filed on June 16, and it says she is suing for declaratory relief and violation of the business and professions code. She signed a recording agreement with MBK Entertainment in 2011, when she was only 14 years old.

The owner of MBK Jeff Robinson, subsequently became her manager, and then fired the law firm that first represented her. “Robinson caused his own lawyers to represent Wilson in the negotiation of subsequent contracts, including publishing and touring agreements,” as per the court documents. She claimed that “those lawyers took 5% of the deals they negotiated, but did not have a written fee agreement or a conflict waiver signed by Wilson, and said that they performed the services ‘as a favor’ to their client Robinson who was paid 20% commission for each of those deals.”

Beyoncé Releases The New Single ‘Break My Soul,’ A Confident Anthem

After rebooting her social media profiles and sending fans into a frenzy over something called “Renaissance,” Beyoncé’s has just released a new song “Break My Soul,” which is a single from the forthcoming album of that title. It’s a confident, clubby anthem with inspiring lyrics: “Now I just fell in love / And I just quit my job / I’m gonna find new drive / Damn they work me so damn hard.” It previews a relentlessly catchy LP.

The track is four and a half minutes, giving enough time for fans to fully relish it. Her last full-length record was 2016’s iconic Lemonade, so this is a real treat. She also mentioned that Renaissance will be heavy on both country and dance tunes, and this single definitely proves the latter.

In a 2021 interview, Beyonce hinted at Rennaissance when she said discussed working on new music: “With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!”

Bad Bunny Unveils The ‘Me Porto Bonito’ Music Video, Which Is Full Of Partying

Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti is one of the biggest albums of the year, debuting at No. 1 and making him the most-streamed artist globally in one day. He’s not done though; today he unveiled the music video for the track “Me Porto Bonito.”

This video follows the release of the “Titi Me Pregunto” video, in which Bad Bunny gets kidnapped to his own wedding. The video for this track, which features Chencho Corleone, watches Corleone driving around and then having fun at a pool party with Bad Bunny. It’s as mischievous and fun as the “Titi Me Pregunto” video.

Earlier this year, the star turned a semi-truck into a stylish, one-of-a-kind Airbnb. “Being on tour has reconnected me with my fans and the energy they give me during each show in every city we visit is incredible,” said Bad Bunny. “I’m hoping that by hosting guests in my truck I can give them a chance to feel like they’re on tour with me. This truck has played such a big role in the concept of my tour and my last album that I want to share this unique experience with them.”

It Turns Out FKA Twigs And Jorja Smith Are Cousins

FKA Twigs and Jorja Smith have both managed to rise to the top of their respective fields: Twigs is a highly respected indie/pop/R&B/genre-bending artist and Smith’s voice earned her a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2019. The two worked together on Twigs’ new mixtape Caprisongs, with Smith featuring on “Darjeeling.” Well, after making that song together, they both realized they’re actually cousins.

In a new GQ interview, Twigs said of Smith:

“I’d never met her before, and I jumped in her car with her… and I remember thinking to myself, ‘Gosh, that’s really strange: we’ve got exactly the same kind of skin.’ […] A few months later, I was on the road to go to LA and [Smith] left me a voice note saying, ‘You’re never going to believe this, but I’ve just spoken to my dad and he’s spoken to his sister and we’re related.’”

Meanwhile, Twigs has a lot going on right now. She recently launched her post-Caprisongs era with “Killer,” her first new song since the mixtape. She’s also expanding her acting profile, as it was reported last month she has landed a starring role in a reboot of The Crow.

Maya Hawke Hilariously Revisits A Classic Rihanna And Ethan Hawke Moment For Father’s Day

Father’s Day was yesterday, meaning social media was flooded with tributes to dads everywhere. One of the funniest of them came from Stranger Things star and musician Maya Hawke, whose father is of course Ethan Hawke.

An Instagram post shared yesterday reads, “Happy Father’s Day specifically to Ethan Hawke making his son switch seats with him so he could get at Rihanna.” Indeed, the post shows two photos of Rihanna and Ethan sitting courtside at the 2015 NBA All-Star Game, one with his son Levon seated between them and another with Ethan next to Rihanna. Maya shared that post on her Instagram story and let the image do the talking, adding simply, “Happy Father’s Day dad”

Ethan actually addressed this moment previously: In 2019, he re-shared a similar tweet featuring the same two photos and wrote, “Yes, my son and I remember this GREAT night. His version is a little different than mine.”

As for the topic of the depicted conversation, it’s possible Rihanna and Hawke were chatting about Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets, the 2017 movie in which they both starred; The photos were taken on February 15, 2015 and the two joined the cast of the film later that year, Rihanna in October and Hawke in December.

Snoop Dogg Reacts To A Proposal Happening Right In Front Of Him In A Funny Meet-And-Greet Video

With how over-the-top proposals can get, it’s hard to have one that stands out above the rest. Recently, though, one fan did just that by getting Snoop Dogg involved.

On May 19, concert and tour producer Ian Vaughn shared a video on TikTok, of a couple posing for a photo with Snoop. The video has recently gone viral, as ET Canada notes, because of what happened next: The man got down on one knee, in front of both Snoop and the woman he was with, and pulled out a ring, to which the woman responded, “Oh sh*t!” The man then said, “Would you make me the best man in the world, right next to Snoop?”

She covered her mouth before responding with an excited, “Hell yeah!” She looked at Snoop, who offered a “wow,” as her now-fiancé tried to dap her up but was left hanging. He then stood up and the three shared a group hug.

Snoop, meanwhile, has been celebrating his own marriage recently, as he and Shante Taylor, formerly his high school girlfriend, marked their 25th anniversary on June 12. Snoop shared multiple Instagram posts about the occasion, noting in one of them, “Thank you for 25 beautiful year[s]. We are stronger together.”

Beyonce Confirms ‘Break My Soul,’ A New Song, Is Coming Tonight

Beyonce is entering a new era, but so far, she’s done so quietly; The recent announcement of her upcoming album Renaissance came via Tidal and an update to her social media bios. Now, she’s back with more covert news, as it looks like she’s releasing a new song tonight: This morning, she again updated her online profiles to read, “6.ㅤ ㅤ BREAK MY SOUL ㅤ midnight ET,” seemingly indicating that a song called “Break My Soul,” presumably the sixth track on Renaissance, is dropping tonight at midnight.

Spotify also tweeted about “Break My Soul,” echoing Beyonce in saying that it’ll be out tonight.

As for what Beyonce’s upcoming music will sound like, recent reports have indicated the LP will incorporate dance and country music.

In a 2021 interview, Beyonce perhaps slyly hinted at Rennaissance when she said of working on new music, “With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Lil Nas X Teams With Grindr, A Homophobic Dog, Chick-fil-A, And More For Hilarious (Fake) Promos

Lil Nas X has a new song, “Late To The Party” with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, on the way, which means the rapper is shifting into promotional mode. This is great news because as Nas has proven time and time again in recent years, when it comes to drawing attention to himself and his work, there’s nobody better than he is. So, naturally, Nas has come up with yet another hilarious way to get the word out about “Late To The Party”: Fake brand partnerships featuring offbeat promotions.

The first was with Grindr and as part of it, in exchange for pre-saving the song, the dating app is supposedly offering “free c*ck,’ per Nas’ Twitter.

The next one is a team-up with the meme “homophobic dog,” offering a chance to meet the pooch. Nas also wrote, “Do it now for a chance to see him live! calling you the famous word as seen on auntie diaries by kendrick lamar! hurry!”

The final one, as of now, is Nas and McDonald’s offering free Brazilian butt lift (a “free fat ass,” as the image states) to the first million people who pre-save the song.

In another post Nas ended up deleting, a fake partnership with Chick-fil-A promised a “free meal on Sundays” when you pre-save the song, the joke of course being that the restaurant has had multiple LGBTQ+-related controversies and is closed on Sundays.

While listeners won’t actually be able to take advantage of any of these promotions, Nas’ entertaining antics have probably earned him a pre-save anyway.
