Pooh Shiesty Has Reportedly Been Arrested On A Charge Of Aggravated Battery

Gucci Mane’s label has suffered another blow after his artist Foogiano was sentenced to five years in prison for skipping bail last month. This time, it’s 21-year-old supernova Pooh Shiesty — aka Lontrell Williams — in the hot seat, according to The Miami Herald, which reports that Shiesty was arrested for aggravated battery in connection with a shooting at the Miami nightclub King Of Diamonds over Memorial Day weekend.

Complex‘s report on the arrest partially reconstructs the events in question, with social media video purportedly depicting the “Back In Blood” rapper at the club while the person apparently filming narrates. According to the clubgoer’s commentary, someone “took” Shiesty’s money, leading to a second clip in which the commenter loudly claims “Pooh Shiesty let off in a jacker’s b*tch ass” — meaning the rapper apparently shot at someone. The final clip does show someone who looks to be the rapper — although he’s wearing a ski mask, he was the focus of the prior videos — exiting the club holding something that certainly appears to be a handgun.

According to Miami Herald, the rapper did turn himself in on Tuesday. The Herald obtained an arrest warrant which said Shiesty shot a security guard in the leg.

The Late MF DOOM Advocates Self Education On Your Old Droog’s ‘Dropout Boogie’

Brooklyn, New York rapper Your Old Droog is one of the many, many rappers influenced by the late, great MF DOOM, both in form and in his steadfast adherence to a philosophy of being anti-famous. Like DOOM, Droog emerged from the New York underground and rose to notoriety via the internet, maintaining an air of mystery early in his career that had many fans wondering just who he really was. Droog received the ultimate blessing for a DOOM fan, getting the chance to work with his idol on multiple songs before the elder rapper’s death on Halloween last year, and today, he shared the first they ever recorded together: “Dropout Boogie.”

A short, sample-heavy song extolling the virtues of self-education (well, as much as it decries the many shortcomings of the US education system), “Dropout Boogie” really highlights the impact of DOOM’s syllable-stacking style on the generation of rappers who grew up under him. The track will be available as a 7″ vinyl on Nature Sounds, which you can pre-order here. Droog also accompanied the release with a statement on DOOM’s impact on his life and career.

This man’s work renewed my interest in hip-hop and rhyming at a time when I got tired of hearing what was on the radio or what was considered popular rap, I deadass started listening to classical music, and then I heard DOOM.

For him to end up appreciating what I do 10 years later shows the power of never giving up on your passion, staying the course, believing in yourself and having vision.

Aside from him being featured on the track, the song already had a lot of personal meaning for me. School is not for everybody. You know, it has its extracurricular pluses but overall, it wasn’t for me. For some people, it’s good but not for me. I don’t work well fitting into boxes. I dropped out of high school, and community college, twice! This is certainly an anthem of sorts.

The GED was nice though, that gave me confidence. Stay confident and follow your own path. Not the one laid out to you by your parents or teachers. Peace.

Megan Thee Stallion Goes Full EDM In Her Feature On Marshmello’s ‘Bad B*tches’

Following a two-month social media hiatus, Megan Thee Stallion is returning in a big way. Along with teasing her first new solo single of 2021 with a couple of bootylicious photos, Megan lends her vocals on Marshmello‘s club-ready banger “Bad B*tches.”

The EDM track features bouncy production by Marshmello and collaborator Nitti Gritti. Its pumped-up beat is meant to ready fans for a triumphant return to the dance floor and its euphoric sound will be a sure-fire hit at summer festivals. “Bad B*tches” is accompanied by vocals from Megan’s showstopping performance at Rolling Loud LA in 2019, where she expertly hypes up the crowd. “Where my bad b*tches at? Where my motherf*cking hot girls at? Where my motherf*cking hot boys at?” she says in a vocal sample on the song. “If you a motherf*ckin’ hot girl, no matter what season it is, make some motherf*ckin’ noise.”

The song arrives as an announcement for Marshmello’s upcoming LP Shockwave and follows an already prolific year for the producer. Along with his Megan collaboration, Marshmello has teamed up with big-name artists in 2021 like Jonas Brothers for the track “Leave Before You Love Me,” 2KBaby for “Like This,” and Juicy J for the song “Hitta.”

Shockwave is out 6/11 via Joytime Collective. Pre-order it here.

Kim Kardashian Wishes Kanye West A Happy Birthday: ‘Love You For Life’

Various reports from this year have made it seem like Kanye West are Kim Kardashian are getting divorced after months and months of rumors about struggles in their relationship. It’s important to note, though, that neither West nor Kardashian have publicly confirmed the split. Whatever the case may be, it appears there’s still love between the two, as Kardashian took some time out of her day today to share a message for West on his 44th birthday.

On Instagram this afternoon, Kardashian shared a photo of herself, West, and their three children, and captioned it, “Happy Birthday. Love U for Life!” She also shared three more West photos on her Instagram Story: One of West in 1987, one of herself and West, and one of her and West with their kids.

Meanwhile, Khloé Kardashian also did a birthday post about West, sharing a photo of herself with Kim, West, and Tristan Thompson. She wrote, “Happy birthday to my brother for life!!! Have the best birthday Ye! Sending you love and endless blessings!!”

This comes shortly after a new episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians on which Kardashian tearfully said, “I honestly can’t do this anymore. […] I think he deserves someone that can go support his every move, and go follow him all over the place, and move to Wyoming. I can’t do that. He should have a wife that supports his every move and travels with him and does everything, and I can’t. I feel like a f*cking failure, that it’s like, a third f*cking marriage. Yeah, I feel like a f*cking loser.”

As for West, he celebrated his birthday by releasing a single item from his highly anticipated Yeezy Gap line at 3 in the morning.

Megan Thee Stallion Rings In Hot Girl Summer With A Booty-Baring ‘Thot Sh*t’ Teaser

After a whirlwind 2020 culminated in her winning several Grammy Awards, Megan Thee Stallion took some time away from the public eye to “prepare for what’s next.” Earlier this week, Megan marked her impending return by teasing her first new solo single following her debut album Good News. The rapper revealed the upcoming song is titled “Thot Sh*t” and she’s now found a cheeky way to get fans excited about her new music.

After previously sharing the “Thot Sh*t” single art and cryptically pointing to the comeback of her alter rap ego Tina Snow, Megan returned Tuesday to tease the single with a bootylicious photo set. “3 MORE DAYS UNTIL #THOTSHITDROPS,” she wrote alongside pictures of her in a revealing nurse costume.

Though “Thot Sh*t” marks the rapper’s official return, Megan was still making moves while she was taking some time away from social media. The rapper was recently nominated for seven 2021 BET Awards, tying with DaBaby for the artist with the most nods this year. She’s also been announced as the headliner for several major summer festivals like Bottlerock, Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, and New Orleans’ Buku Festival.

Conway The Machine’s ‘Scatter Brain’ Video With JID And Ludacris Gets Down To Business

Griselda Records’ Conway The Machine is fresh off the release of his new project La Maquina, dropping off the video for its lead single “Scatter Brain” with ATLiens JID and Ludacris. The three rappers menace the camera as they spit rapid-fire verses full of pummeling punchlines. While Conway plays mob boss behind a desk right out of a classic gangster film, JID and Luda do damage in the dimly lit warehouse from their Tonight Show performance of the track surrounded by razor wire and concrete blocks representing their sharp flows and brick-dense witticisms.

Conway and Griselda have maintained their breakneck from 2020, appearing on “Hood Blues” from the late DMX’s posthumous album Exodus, with fellow members Benny The Butcher releasing his Harry Fraud-produced The Plugs I Met 2 project featuring 2 Chainz and Chinx, and Westside Gunn preparing to release his latest Hilter Wears Hermes installment, the eighth in the series.

Meanwhile, JID recently gave an update on the status of his own new music, sharing photos with some of his collaborators on social media, and is preparing to appear at Dreamville’s On The Rocks concert in Colorado. You can catch Ludacris in theaters in the new Fast and Furious film F9 June 25 and rapping on the remix of Justin Bieber’s hit single “Peaches” with Snoop Dogg and Usher.

Charli XCX And Beyonce’s Mom Will Appear On The New Season Of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’

For the upcoming sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, the show will have a new home on the Paramount Plus streaming platform. The season is set to premiere on June 24, and ahead of then, Paramount Plus has shared a new trailer. Aside from teasing the upcoming season, the clip also offers a brief look at some of the upcoming guests on the show, including Charli XCX and Tina Knowles, aka Beyonce’s mother.

Towards the end of the trailer, we see Knowles talking to a contestant off-camera, saying, “It was right on point.” The video then cuts to a similar shot of Charli, who says, “I am obsessed with your outfit.”

Charli’s love for both RuPaul and the Drag Race franchise runs deep. Way back in 2013, she tweeted, “Current mood = RuPaul.” Then, in 2017, Charli solicited Netflix viewing recommendations from her fans, and in response to the suggestion that she watch Drag Race, she replied, “i want to be a judgeeeee!!!!!!!” In a 2019 interview, she revisited that tweet and was asked if she has gotten involved in the show yet, to which she responded, “I haven’t! But RuPaul: hit me up. I would love to be a part of it.” She also offered her recommendation for the song of hers that the show’s contestants should “Lip Sync For Your Lives” to: “I have a song called ‘Vroom Vroom,’ which I think would be really amazing for anyone to lip sync to.”

Blast Radio, A New Creator-Based Audio App, Launches To Deliver Limited-Time Audio Experiences

An app that aims to bring fans inside the creative process is now available. Blast Radio — or simply Blast — is an audio-based app where artists of all kinds can broadcast whatever they like, whenever they like, for a more intimate fan experience. The goal is to provide an outlet for artists to share the music, sessions — and potentially behind-the-scenes content — that they wouldn’t necessarily record or publish otherwise.

“Over the last 15 years, I noticed that reality has no place on visual social media platforms,” said Yousef Ali, Blast’s Founder and CEO. “People have been reduced to doctored selfies and public displays of perfection. This is especially challenging for musicians where sound is their secret weapon. Blast gives artists an easy way to reach fans with their actual talents and to do so in an environment that’s not meant to be curated and perfect. It’s a space for artists, to be heard, and to highlight their work, not their appearance.”

The element of spontaneity is reinforced by a built-in time limit: Blast broadcasts are only accessible for 24 hours. Recordings are made using a small attachment called a Blast Box that attaches to the artist’s audio equipment through an RCA wire. The Blast Box (which can be pre-ordered now) pairs the artist’s device with their Blast Radio profile through Bluetooth. The artist can then manually press “publish” to upload the broadcast onto the Blast app.

Blast users get notifications when any artists that they follow have new broadcasts. They may then listen in real-time, or check out the broadcast for the next 24 hours, as well as comment, share the broadcasts, and give a “like” (Blast calls them “Vibes.”)

Right now, more than 150 musicians are posting performances, weekly radio programs, album release previews, and live broadcasts from venues on the app. Some of these early adopters include Ghostly International founder Matthew Dear, Grammy-nominated composer and Detroit DJ Carl Craig, artist and owner of Klakson and Dolly imprint Steffi, Brooklyn-based DJ and producer The Juan MacLean, and acclaimed chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound.

“I’m always searching for ways to connect with fans. Whether I’m jamming in the studio or playing a DJ set, I need an effortless way to broadcast my music, instantly. Blast has now made that process extremely simple. I just did my first broadcast from Detroit and listened back to the set afterward. I can’t wait to share more live music soon,” said avant-pop artist Matthew Dear.

Detroit producer Carl Craig added: “Performing live at shows is great, but there’s a ton of music that I love that I can’t play because there’s just too much to share on one tour. On Blast, I can broadcast what I care about right now, and do so in an environment built for high-resolution audio — where it sounds great, isn’t restricted by low-res algorithms, and isn’t competing against a world of curated selfies and cat videos.”

Artists can pre-order a Blast Box here and listeners can download the Blast App in the App Store or the Google Play Store.
