See it: New Trailer For Netflix’s ‘The Madness’ Starring Colman Domingo

image

Netflix just dropped the first look and announced the premiere date for its upcoming thriller series, “The Madness”, starring Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo.

Here’s what we know so far.

The eight-episode series, set to debut on November 28, 2024, promises a gripping and intense narrative centered around media pundit Muncie Daniels, played by Domingo.

In “The Madness”, Daniels stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos woods, launching him into a desperate fight for survival. As he struggles to uncover the truth and clear his name, Daniels must also reconnect with his estranged family and reevaluate the beliefs and ideals he once held dear.

“Everything about this conspiracy thriller excited me,” Domingo shared in an interview with Tudum. “It was a unique protagonist, one that I had never seen or experienced. Someone who has very centrist beliefs, and now they’re being thrust into the world to really hard-core believe in something and to reexamine the people that they believed were possible enemies. You realize you have more in common with them than you thought you had in the beginning.”

Behind the camera, the series is created by Stephen Belber and co-showrun by Belber and VJ Boyd. Clément Virgo directs and serves as an executive producer alongside Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kaitlin Dahill. The cast also includes Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham, John Ortiz, Tamsin Topolski, and TJ Mixon.

Here’s the trailer:

Pras Backtracks on ‘Bar Mitzfa’ Track Claims Not a Jab at Lauryn Hill

image

Let’s clear some things up between Pras and Lauryn Hill. We know it’s not the Drake, K Dot beef you were all hoping for but we have to set the record straight.

Pras just made sure we’re all on the same sheet of music. He claims he harbors no ill will towards his Fugees bandmate, Lauryn Hill, despite the recent cancellation of their U.S. reunion tour. However, he admits to feeling frustrated on behalf of their fans.

ICYMI, earlier this month, Lauryn Hill called off the highly anticipated Fugees’ U.S. tour dates, citing low ticket sales.

Get this, Hill attributed the disappointing sales to media outlets she claims exaggerated last year’s concert cancellations, creating what she described as a “climate” where fans were hesitant to buy tickets for the 2024 tour, which was scheduled to kick off this Friday.

Following the unfortunate cancellation, Pras released a new track titled “Bar Mitzfa,” where he seemed to vent his frustrations, rapping, “Don’t blame me, blame her, she made the mess/ Not another fucking penny, is what I told ‘Clef/ Trotting the globe with the bros, playing dominoes.”

Again, Pras set the record straight himself, saying, “I love Lauryn. She’s like a little sister; there’s no way we could ever have any beef.” He emphasized that his frustration is not with Hill personally, but rather stems from empathy for their fans. “Everyone’s frustration has been building up. This is not something that just happened overnight,” he explained. “My frustration was for the fans. They are paying their hard-earned money to see you.”

So the tension between Hill and Pras seems to be more about the genuine disappointment of their loyal fanbase rather than any personal conflict between the two artists.

Whelp, glad we cleared that up.

Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn ‘Scandal’ Stars Appear Together at DNC

image

The DNC had everybody pull up. Felt like Kendrick’s concert. Joking.

Anyway, ”Olitz” fans were thrilled to see Kerry Washington and her “Scandal” co-star Tony Goldwyn reunite on stage at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday night.

You may know, Kerry Washington, who famously portrayed crisis manager Olivia Pope in the Shonda Rhimes political drama, took the stage to rally support for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and encourage people to vote. Addressing the crowd, Washington said, “As I stand here, I know that there are folks on social media already saying ‘Go back to your TV show. Shut up and act.’ But I am not here tonight as an actor. I am here as a mother, as a daughter, as a proud union member.” Her words were met with enthusiastic applause.

She continued, “I am here as the granddaughter of immigrants, as a Black woman descended from enslaved people. I am here tonight because I am an American and because I am a voter and because we, the people, are stronger when all our voices are heard.”

After her speech, Tony Goldwyn, who played President Fitzgerald Grant III on “Scandal”, joined Washington on stage to take a selfie video with her and the excited crowd. Washington asked the crowd, “Are you ready for Kamala Harris to win?” to which they responded with a resounding “Yes.”

Of course, the reunion sparked nostalgia among fans, with one writing, “Let me go re-watch “Scandal” cause it’s giving NOSTALGIA,” and another saying, “Olitz on #TGIT? The country needs it! I would be even more grateful if the rest of the gladiators made an appearance…and Papa Pope.”

We hear the fans and we’re here for it.

Since “Scandal” ended, Washington and Goldwyn have remained close, often exchanging friendly jabs on social media and in interviews. Their on-screen relationship, known for its intensity and complexity, continues to resonate with fans.

Sounds like a great time at the DNC.

Cash Cobain Drops His Biggest Project Yet With “PLAY CASH COBAIN”

Cash Cobain has certainly built a reputable brand off of his sexy drill soundscape. You can pretty much say that he’s essentially the sole creator of this wave in hip-hop, as there are a few copycats out there trying to replicate what he does. However, it’s not nearly going to have the same impact. The Bronx/Jamaica, Queens native’s name has become so massive that no one will probably trump him. However, in our honest opinion, that, along with some okay sample flipping, is about all we can give to PLAY CASH COBAIN.

Unfortunately, the consistent aspect holding back drill as a whole is that it’s difficult to keep each instrumental from sounding the same. This subgenre is known for its specific drum and hi-hat pattern, and it can feel as if its copied and pasted to each song. Pair that with Cobain’s constant and sometimes over-reliant usage of samples, the 19-song tracklist became kind of bore pretty quickly. Additionally, when he raps, he uses the same sort of sleepy and warbly delivery on nearly every occasion. While we appreciate Cash Cobain’s knowledge and respect of past work’s, the repetitive nature is too much to overcome in the end.

Joe Budden Drags Playboi Carti In Response To “Complex” List

Earlier this month, Complex unveiled its list of the best rappers from Atlanta, which has since sparked a major debate. As expected, many readers disagreed with who made the list and where they were placed. Playboi Carti’s ranking in particular prompted a great deal of backlash, as he came in at No. 12, ahead of artists like Jermaine Dupri, Killer Mike, Gunna, and more.

B. Dot weighed in on his placement on Way Up With Angela Yee shortly after the list was published. He didn’t hold back in the slightest, slamming the rapper and arguing that he was placed far too high. “I can’t get jiggy with that,” he said at the time. “Have you ever heard Playboi Carti’s music? He raps in like Batman sound effects. He sucks. He’s terrible.”

Joe Budden Admits That He Thinks Playboi Carti Is “Horrible”

Of course, this sparked even more debate among social media users. While many think Playboi Carti can’t hold a candle to those placed below him, others insist that his influence is undeniable, and can understand why he came in at No. 12. During a recent episode of his podcast, Joe Budden decided to join the conversation, revealing that he agrees with B. Dot.

“B.Dot, I’m with you, Playboi Carti is horrible to me,” he admitted. His co-hosts agreed with him, even claiming that Playboi Carti shouldn’t have made the list at all. “Playboi Carti is on this list because it’s a Complex list, that’s it,” Budden added, suggesting that the outlet’s readership simply overlaps with the rapper’s fanbase. What do you think of Joe Budden’s reaction to Playboi Carti’s No. 12 spot on Complex‘s list of the best rappers from Atlanta? What about him calling the rapper “horrible”? Do you agree with him, or did he go too far? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

No, Beyoncé Was Never in the Democratic National Convention’s Lineup

image

Whelp Beyoncé did not perform at the DNC.

Rumors began to swirl for days about the likelihood of Beyoncé possibly performing at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

On Thursday TMZ made a report she would appear on the event’s final day, citing anonymous sources. In fairness they are rarely wrong about anything and normally are the first to report, well, everything.

However, this time a Beyoncé representative quickly debunked the report, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “the report of a performance is untrue” and clarified that she was never scheduled to attend.

Get this, the Washington Post confirmed with a source close to convention organizers that no special guest, including Beyoncé, was planned for Thursday.

Oh but the campaign may have added some lighter fluid to the fire.

Speculation about a potential Beyoncé performance intensified earlier in the week, fueled by a tweet from White House political director Emily Ruiz, who posted a bee emoji, a nod to Beyoncé’s fan base, the “BeyHive.”

Ruiz later backtracked, and light heartedly claimed her 6-year-old took her phone. When asked about the rumors on CBS Mornings, Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison did not confirm or deny Beyoncé’s involvement, only mentioning, “Everyday, she’s in here singing ‘Freedom.’”

Despite the wild rumors, Beyoncé did not make an appearance, surprising many. Although she hadn’t endorsed Kamala Harris as she did with Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama in previous elections, she did grant the Harris-Walz campaign exclusive rights to use her song “Freedom” from her “Lemonade” album. This song has been Harris’ walkout anthem at campaign rallies.

The song is working. Maybe a performance would have been a bit much for everyday Americans who tuned in and might be on the fence about voting for Harris.

Cardi B Was No Fan of Atlanta and Hated Her Time There With No Friends or Family

image

Who woulda thunk it. Cardi B wasn’t a fan of ATL, hometown to her estranged husband, Offset.

The Bronx rapper recently opened up about her search for a New York apartment and reflected on her time living in the “A.”

Get this, on Thursday, August 22, Cardi B took to Instagram Live to address the buzz surrounding her apartment hunt in New York City. While some speculated that her move was tied to her divorce, Cardi B clarified that the decision was work-related.

“Right now, I’m in the city, and I need to go take a shower,” she shared, revealing that she’s been showering in her engineer’s gym bathroom or renting hotel rooms, which she finds exhausting.

The “Kodak Black” emcee further explained, “I’m going to be coming to have meetings with my label like twice a week. And on top of that, I’m trying to get an office out here.” Cardi B emphasized that she feels “comfortable” in New York, and despite popular belief, she actually lives in her New Jersey home with her children, not in Atlanta.

“I don’t live in Atlanta. I have a house in Atlanta,” she clarified, adding that she rarely spends time there. “I only go to Atlanta like three or four times a year. And probably I go for a week, maybe less. I tried to move to Atlanta in 2018 and I lived there for like six months. And I hated it. I don’t have not one friend in Atlanta, and I don’t have not even one family member in Atlanta. So I just don’t like Atlanta.”

I mean Atlanta isn’t for everyone so we get it.

Katherine Jackson’s Attempt To Stop $600M Sale Of Micheal Jackson’s Music Catalog Denied by Judge

image

Katherine Jackson, legendary mom of Michael Jackson, had her appeal denied in a legal effort to stop the sale of half of her late son’s music catalog to Sony for $600 million. A Los Angeles judge ruled on August 21 that the sale aligns with the terms of Michael Jackson’s trust, dismissing Katherine Jackson’s objections as lacking merit.

Lawyers for Katherine Jackson argued that Michael had expressed a desire for his assets to remain within the family before his death. However, the judge pointed to Michael’s will, which grants his executors full control over his estate.

Get this, the court filing states, “The will gave the executors broad powers of sale, with no exception for the specific assets at issue in this case… the probate court did not err in concluding that it was Michael’s intent to allow the executors to sell any estate assets, including those at issue in the proposed transaction.”

This ruling is but the latest in the ongoing legal conflict between Katherine Jackson and the co-executors of Michael Jackson’s estate, attorney John Branca and A&R executive John McClain. Earlier in February 2023, it was reported that the estate was looking to sell half of the music catalog, with Sony Music among the potential buyers. Despite Katherine Jackson’s protests, the executors had received court approval to proceed with the sale.

So basically, pertaining to Michael Jackson’s will, his estate is to be passed down to the Michael Jackson Family Trust, with his three children—Prince, Paris, and Bigi—as the beneficiaries.

Big money talk. Not going the way everyone wants, so it seems.
