The Isley Brothers Tap Snoop Dogg For Smooth “Friends And Family”

After recently wrapping up an epic Verzuz battle against Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Isley Brothers have come through to ride the wave with their new single “Friends and Family.” And for the celebratory occasion, the legendary group enlisted their old pal Snoop Dogg for a closing verse; lest we forget, Snoop and Ron Isley previously joined forces on Swizz Beatz’s star-studded anthem “Bigger Business” back in 2002.

Though The Isley Brothers have been releasing music since the 1950s, “Friends and Famiy” proves that they haven’t lost a step in the slightest. Ron Isley’s soulful vocals have aged particularly gracefully, and his calls to embrace the positive vibes certainly resonate in an era that can sometimes feel overwhelmingly dark. “Go right ‘head and smoke and play some cards, just make yourself at home,” he sings. “It’s okay to take somebody’s hand and get your groove on.”

Snoop Dogg reinforces the point with a few final words, his slick flow at home over the bass-driven groove. “Hand my drink to wifey and sit my cup down, now the whole fam bam gettin’ down,” he spits, a snapshot into how a typical Broadus shindig goes down. “I mean, I mean, I just had a plate of them greens / I’m on the dance floor groovin’ like a dancing machine.”

Check out the latest single from The Isley Brothers now, and show some love to the legendary group in the comments below. In other news, Ron Isley was recently working in the studio with Dr. Dre and Fred Wreck, so stay tuned to see how that development unfolds.

BRS Kash Addresses Mulatto Dating Rumors

After being spotted at the same party this weekend, BRS Kash has addressed rumors that he’s dating Mulatto in an exclusive interview with HotNewHipHop.

For weeks, BRS Kash and Mulatto have been linked together as hip-hop fans try and figure out who Big Latto has been swooning over on social media. The field has been narrowed down to a few gentlemen, including 21 Savage (who has denied the rumors), Key Glock (who recently said he wasn’t dating Latto), and BRS Kash. Despite being pretty tight-lipped about his rumored relationship with his “Kash App” collaborator, BRS Kash told us during a recent interview that the two are simply friends and that there’s nothing more to their bond.

Me and Latto, we friends, that’s my dawg,” he told us during the talk. “It’s nothing [romantic] going on. We just cool, that’s how we rock. We was friends before the music popped off.”

The two have been linked for several months with the rumors intensifying after they worked together on “Kash App”. However, much like Savage and Glock, Kash isn’t fessing up to any extracurricular activities with Big Latto.

Topaz Jones Drops The Soulful, Chilled-Out Single ‘D.I.A.L.’

New Jersey’s own Topaz Jones has a new album and accompanying short film on the way, Don’t Go Tellin’ Your Momma, although prior to today, he hadn’t unveiled a release date for the projects. Now, though, he has revealed that they are set for April 23. Also today, he shared a new song from the project, “D.I.A.L.,” which stands for “dying is a lifestyle.” The track is full of soul and relaxed vibes, with Jones’ lyrical contributions both perfectly existing within the track and standing out on their own.

Jones previously said of the relationship between the album and the short film, “The film is all the things I couldn’t say in musical notes. The music is everything I couldn’t write in words, even though there’s lyrics that speak to it as well, but emotionally, it’s everything I couldn’t necessarily write down and the film is everything that I couldn’t put in song. It is single-handedly the most gratifying, fulfilling experience I’ve had as an artist.”

The film, by the one, isn’t one to be missed: It recently took home the Short Film Jury Award: Nonfiction honor at this year’s Sundance Festival.

Rihanna Attends #StopAsianHate March In New York

Rihanna has always been one of the most active voices in her community, using her platform to empower others with her inclusive brands and world-ranging music. Despite being involved in a few recent controversies, for which she has apologized, Rihanna made sure to show up at a recent #StopAsianHate march in New York City, walking alongside hundreds of other activists looking to make a difference.

As the number of violent hate crimes against Asian-Americans has risen during the pandemic, Rihanna sought to create some change by encouraging her millions of fans to step out into the streets and have a voice, fighting back against anti-Asian racism and xenophobia. She and her assistant were spotted at the march, carrying colorful signs and interacting with fans.

While she was surely recognized by the majority of people, one exchange with a fan was captured on camera as she exchanged Instagram handles with the man, who seemingly had no idea who he was speaking with. After directing him to her page, which has over 93 million followers, he simply asked if this was truly her, assuming he had been catfished.

Freddie Gibbs Says Losing Grammy To Nas Inspired New Single

Freddie Gibbs is fresh off of the release of his latest single, “Big Boss Rabbit,” which seems to be the third single from his forthcoming release. His latest single arrives just weeks after the Grammys where Alfredo lost to Nas’ King’s Disease. The fact that Gibbs was even nominated for a Grammy is a win overall, but it seemed oddly coincidental that “Big Boss Rabbit” was a flip of Nas’ “You’re Da Man.”

Some fans went as far as claiming that some lyrics in “Big Boss Rabbit” threw shade at Nas but Gangsta Gibbs explained that it was actually the Queensbridge legend that motivated him. During the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Freddie explained that it was the evening at the Grammys that fueled this record. “Nas won the Grammy, you know what I mean? So I was like, alright, fasho,” he said.

“He gave me motivation. Thank you, Nas, man,” he continued. “If I was going to lose to anybody, you know, I gracefully lost to a legend like Nas. I appreciate you. You turned me up, you really pissed me off that night, and you motivated me to get better, man, in the booth. So, I appreciate you for that. Thank you, dawg.”

Perhaps the upcoming Gibbs album includes a collaboration with Nas? Are you here for that? Sound off in the comments.
