NBA YoungBoy’s $540K Bail Revoked, Will Remain In Jail Until Trial: Report

NBA YoungBoy’s legal woes have become quite a thrilling saga. The 21-year-old Baton Rouge native, born Kentrell Gaulden, was arrested at the tail end of last month in Los Angeles by federal agents due to an outstanding federal warrant stemming from a previous arrest in his hometown back in September of 2020.

We reported previously that the rapper had been granted a $540,000 bond by a California judge, with the added clause that a Louisiana judge must first approve the release. According to court documents obtained by XXL yesterday (April 1), a Louisiana judge has ruled that Gaulden will remain behind bars until the trial for his recent gun charges begins.

Before the judge from Gaulden’s home state ruled that he will be held without bond pending trial, the Magistrate judge in California granted the hitmaker bond that included $540,000 in cash, collateral of two properties worth $1.5 million, drug testing, an ankle monitor and more.

We previously reported that Gaulden had violated his bond terms by skipping out on mandatory testing, which may have contributed to the judge’s ruling. The Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana submitted a motion last month to keep the rapper in jail until his trial, deeming him a “risk” and “danger to the community.”

Additionally, the State Attorney claimed the California judge’s ruling was based more on, “Gaulden’s significant wealth and assets and apparent ability to post bond, despite the recommendation of the United States Probation and Pre-Trial Services Department that the defendant presents a risk of danger and there are no conditions or combination of conditions that can assure the safety of the community.”

On March 30th, the Louisiana judge involved in the case revoked his bond, adding the caveat that should new evidence emerge from now until his trial that supports his release, it will be reassessed. Based on the rapper’s offenses and criminal history, the judge reasoned, “no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community if the Defendant is allowed bond before trial.”

The document continued, “Defendant’s criminal history includes violent crimes, and the crime for which Defendant has been indicted involved possession of a firearm. Defendant attempted to flee during his arrest, which is indicative of a lack of respect for law enforcement and the law. Defendant also has a history of drug use.”

At this time, it’s unclear when the trial date is set for. We’ll keep you updated on further developments.

Bernie Sanders Takes A Swipe At Nike And Phil Knight

Nike is one of the biggest companies in the entire world and every single year, they bring in billions of dollars worth of profit. Like most big companies in the United States, they always avoid paying high tax rates, which has been a point of contention for many Democratic politicians, especially Bernie Sanders, who has always pushed Social Democracy, as we see in many Scandinavian countries.

Today, Bernie actually took a jab at Nike and its founder Phil Knight. As Sanders explains, the company continues to bring in billions of dollars and in the end, they pay less in tax than what it would cost for a pair of Air Force 1s. Needless to say, Sanders wants to see more accountability from Nike and brands like it.

If you paid $120 for a pair of Nike Air Force 1 shoes, you paid more to Nike than it paid in federal income taxes over the past 3 years, while it made $4.1 billion in profits and Nike’s founder, Phil Knight, became over $23 billion richer. Yes. We must #TaxTheRich,” Bernie wrote.

Depending on which side of the political aisle you fall under, Sanders’ opinion might be controversial. However, with many falling into poverty with the pandemic, it is important that the wealthiest people pay their fair share. Otherwise, things will remain desolate forever.

Lil Uzi Vert Defends Himself: “Y’all Dragging It”

Lil Uzi Vert has been catching heat from all sides following a heated conversation that went down between him and Yung Miami on Instagram live. In the video, it appears that the two seem to be at odds with each other, agreeing that they don’t have to be friends. Uzi then went on to brag about how he’s the one running things in his relationship with JT, among other things along those lines. Yung Miami’s beau Southside later jumped in to reprimand Uzi, echoing the voice of many Twitter users. The Philly native eventually took to Twitter yesterday to explain himself (April 1).

I never treated a women how I treat jt I literally will die for her was just playing ….. y’all dragging it,” penned the Eternal Atake artist on Twitter. He made the clarifying statement by way of a quote reply from someone who tweeted him, “no!! the way you was talking to JT tho!!!! not cool.”

He added in a separate tweet, “That’s my gf best friend I was playing with her she always curse me out.” While Uzi maintained that it was all light-hearted fun, Southside’s more aggressive response to Uzi still has people raising their eyebrows.

“I’mma say this one time. Ay, Uzi, don’t address none to my b*tch, my n*gga,” Southside said in a video shared online. “You handle your b*tch, n*gga, you stay on your side.”

“You got one more time to say somethin‘,” he continued. “I promise you I’mma punch your teeth out your mouth. Don’t say nothin’ else, n*gga… If you don’t like my b*tch, don’t like my b*tch. Let them do them… Stay the little weirdo you is, keep rockin’ purses, keep doin’ that b*tch sh*t you doin’.”

Steve Kerr Delivers Harsh Realities Of Warriors Playoff Fight

Over the past couple of seasons, the Golden State Warriors have had to deal with an abundance of injuries, and it has left them on the outside looking in of the playoffs. For instance, the team finished dead last in the NBA in 2020 and this season, they are 10th in the Western Conference, which would put them outside of the postseason, once again.

Last night, the Warriors lost a tough game to the Miami Heat, and many fans are worried that this team simply isn’t good enough to make the playoffs. After the game, head coach Steve Kerr addressed those concerns and admitted that the Warriors are in a tough spot and need to start playing well immediately.

“We’re right in the thick of it, and 24 games is actually a lot when you’re talking about being within a game either in front or behind of teams that are within your group,” Kerr said. “There should be a sense of urgency because this is the stretch run, but there is time for us to get it going. But it’s just cheap talk if we don’t actually play like it. We can’t turn it over, and we can’t keep fouling jump-shooters.”

With Steph Curry back in the lineup, this team has a real chance of getting hot again, although for now, Warriors fans will be watching with some anxiety as their team continues to falter.

Mello Music Group Drops Off “Bushido” Complilation Album

Today, Mello Music Group has officially dropped off their new compilation album Bushido, a project that features contributions from Quelle Chris, Open Mike Eagle, Solemn Brigham, Oddisee, Homeboy Sandman, Zackey Force Funk, Skyzoo, Namir Blade, Oddisee, James Shahan, Joell Ortiz, Stalley, Dueling Experts, RJ Payne, Murs, Cambatta, Kool Keith, B-Real, and The Perceptionists. Given the stacked tracklist, it’s no surprise that the album features twenty tracks, the majority of which feature a heavy emphasis on lyricism.

With a concept that draws inspiration from ancient samurai tradition, Bushido appropriately features several emcees who have perfected and honed their craft over the years. It’s evident from the onset, as the introductory “Iron Steel Samurai” finds Quelle Chris dexterously spitting bars over vintage Alchemist production. Posse cut “Black Rock” featuring Joell Ortiz, Stalley, Namir Blade, and Solemn Brigham is another hard-hitting highlight, as is the penultimate “Zero Fux” with Kool Keith, B-Real, and Joell Ortiz.

While the project will almost certainly not be for everyone, those who can appreciate what Mello Music Group is bringing to the table will find much to unpack on this lyrically dense endeavor. Should you favor the spirit of underground hip-hop, fueled by dexterous and reference-laden penmanship, be sure to check out Bushido for your listening pleasure. And for those who have taken the plunge, sound off in the comments with your favorite tracks.
