iHeartRadio Music Awards Winners: Roddy Ricch, Chris Brown, Young Thug, H.E.R. & More

Another evening of praise and accolades is a wrap. The iHeartRadio Music Awards brought out the “who’s who” of the music industry and the stage lit up with performances by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande, Anderson .Paak alongside Bruno Mars as Silk Sonic, Elton John, H.E.R., Doja Cat, Demi Lovato, and many more. Although The Weeknd was snubbed by this year’s Grammy Awards, he found iHeartRadio much more accepting as he took home multiple trophies, including Song of the Year for “Blinding Lights.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage (Remix)” with Beyoncé took top billing for Best Collaboration, while Roddy Ricch took home a few awards of his own, including Best New Hip Hop Artist, Hip Hop Artist of the Year, and Hip Hop Song of the Year. Chris Brown and Young Thug snagged R&B Song of the Year for “Go Crazy” as H.E.R. sang her way to earning R&B Artist of the Year, while Jhené Aiko’s Chilombo won Best R&B Album.

Future And Hotboii Won’t Submit To An Exclusive Relationship On ‘Nobody Special’

While Future shared two projects last year with Pluto X Baby Pluto, his joint project with Lil Uzi Vert, and High Off Life, his best contributions in 2020 came in the form of guest appearances. Joining names like Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, Pop Smoke, and more for very strong features, the rapper impressed listeners throughout the year and it seems like Future’s agenda is the same this year. Evidence of this comes on “Nobody Special,” his new track with Hotboii. The track finds the pair speaking against an exclusive relationship in love. Both rappers declare, “I break hearts, I’m a problem, you ain’t gon’ want the fade” and later add, “You nobody special, I feel all these girls the same.”

“Nobody Special” joins a growing list of collaborations Future has done this year. Prior to working with Hotboii, Future stood beside 24kGoldn in the video for their “Company” track, an effort that arrived after he flashed his jewels (and dissed Steve Harvey’s stepdaughter) with 42 Dugg on “Maybach.” He also worked with Moneybagg Yo on “Hard For The Next.” As for solo music from Future, fans will have to wait a bit to get their hands on that, but in the meantime, they can look forward to watching him headline the third day of Rolling Loud’s Los Angeles festival.

DMX, Jay-Z, & Nas Light Up The Mic On “Bath Salts” From “Exodus”

Over a signature Swizz Beatz production we find Nas and Jay-Z uniting once again, this time alongside DMX. It wasn’t too long ago when Jay and Nasir Jones surprised the world when they linked up on DJ Khaled’s “Sorry Not Sorry” from his chart-topping Khaled Khaled album, but this time, the sound is a tad different. With a trio of New York heavyweight emcees going bar for bar on “Bath Salts” from DMX’s posthumous Exodus, Hip Hop fans are globally celebrating X’s legacy and lyricism.

“This is a great follow-up, it’s [back-to-back] New York superhero moments,” Swizz said of the track in a recent interview with GQ. “You have three superheroes from New York that have endless accolades, broke endless records and here they come—it’s a Clash of the Titans. It’s very urgent and lyrical and everybody came with a different style [on their verses.]”

Quotable Lyrics

Hate start with H ’cause the H come after a G (Right)
They won’t say it face to face, they say it after I leave
After the first night at my place, she asked for the keys
It’s my season, Garden of Eden, we Adam and Eve
Now we’re neck of the savage hedonism from a lack of belief
I ain’t a pastor, pass the Lafite
We ain’t in no relationship but do relationship things

NBA YoungBoy & Rod Wave Link On “Everything Different” From Kawhi Leonard’s “Culture Jam”

The relationship between basketball and Hip Hop stretches back to the inception of the genre, and Kawhi Leonard wants to continue to nurture that fusion. The Los Angeles Clippers star recently revealed plans for his Culture Jam music project and we finally get to hear the first peek into what Leonard has in store. After teasing the “Everything Different” single with NBA YoungBoy and Rod Wave, the basketball star has delivered.

“The ‘Culture Jam’ project, it’s just merging Hip Hop and basketball together, you know what I mean,” Leonard told Mikey Williams at the top of the month. “Pretty much, coming from our background, it goes hand-in-hand. So, May 7th we got NBA YoungBoy and Rod Wave dropping a single. It’s fire. I appreciate you for being involved in it as well.”

Additionally, Leonard also shared that portions of Culture Jam‘s proceeds will be donated to a good cause. “It’s just something that could uplift our community,” he said during a press conference. “And, you know, a portion of each stream is gonna go to the Mamba & Mambacita Foundation. It’s just something good for the community, you know what I mean?”

Quotable Lyrics

Just rolled the dice, think it out twice before crossin’ on me
My arms was open for you, homie, whatever you need
And my eyes was open for you, woadie, I clearly can see
They’ll take your kindness for a weakness
Keep you kindness, Ion’t need it
I was blind but now I see it

Juice WRLD’s “Goodbye & Good Riddance” Gets Anniversary Release With 2 New Tracks

It’s an album that didn’t necessarily make major waves when it was first released back on May 23, 2018, but after the massive success of “Lucid Dreams,” Juice WRLD’s debut album was certified Platinum by the end of the year. The tracklist has been updated with “734” and a remix to “Lucid Dreams” ft. Lil Uzi Vert. Much like the original release, Uzi is the lone feature on the album.

Earthgang And Wale Welcome Coi Leray For A Boastful Remix Of ‘Options’

Earthgang has been patiently waiting for a while now to get the ball rolling for their upcoming sophomore album, Ghetto Gods. After a bit of a wait, it appears that the Dreamville duo is now in full rollout mode for the project. Their latest release isn’t a brand new single, but rather, a remix of a past track that definitely deserved more love than it got. Earthgang recruits Coi Leray for a fresh take of “Options,” a track that also carries a verse from Wale. The new version begins with Leray crooning through a verse focused on her options in the dating world while the rap duo provides new verses for listeners to enjoy.

Johnny Venus of Earthgang previously spoke about the underwhelming success of “Options” on their most recent track, “Aretha.” “‘Options‘ dropped, barely made a sound, damn / I guess we let Nas and Cole down,” he said. The new remix joins a string of recent releases that will hopefully bring us to the release of Ghetto Gods. In addition to the “Options” remix and “Aretha,” Earthgang also shared a remix of Drake’s “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.”

Coi Leray has also been active lately. She recently dropped her third single of the year with “Bout Me” and shortly after, she joined DDG and OG Parker for “Impatient.”

Eminem Delivers A Cross-Generation Collab With Jack Harlow And Cordae On Their Remix Of ‘Killer’

At this point in his career, many of Eminem’s releases come as surprises to his fan base. This trend dates back to his 2018 album, Kamikaze, which arrived with no announcement. He did the same in 2020 with his eleventh album, Music To Be Murdered By, a project he later shared a deluxe reissue for with no promotion. Once again, Eminem is back to his surprising ways as he recruited a pair of names some may not have expected him to work with for a new remix. The Detroit rapper called up Jack Harlow and Cordae to collaborate with him on an updated take of “Killer.”

The original track can be found on the deluxe version of Music To Be Murdered By. The track’s production fits the young rappers like Harlow and Cordae more so than one would imagine it does Eminem, but the trio combats the D.A. Got That Dope-produced beat with ease for what proves to be a solid cross-generational collaboration. Harlow and Cordae lead the way with brief verses of their own before Eminem steps in to rap for nearly two straight minutes. In that time he delivers his trademark tongue-twisting bars and also confirms he and Snoop Dogg are on good terms following their past beef.

The remix comes after some decent activity from Harlow and Cordae. The latter launched his own label, Hi-Level Productions, and dropped his Just Until… EP while the former appeared on Saturday Night Live and a trailer for the third season of Call Of Duty: Warzone.
