Julio Jones Shows Off Spectacular Form During First Titans Practice

Julio Jones is easily one of the best wide receivers in the entire NFL and when he was traded to the Tennessee Titans last weekend, everyone was excited to see how he would perform. As a member of the Atlanta Falcons, Jones has an extraordinary career and there is no doubt that he still has a lot left to give to the sport. Not to mention, he is teaming up with Ryan Tannehill, AJ Brown, and Derrick Henry, which puts him on one of the best offenses in the entire NFL.

Today, Jones got to participate in his very first practice with the Tennessee Titans, where he partook in a plethora of different drills. In some video footage below courtesy of reporter Kayla Anderson, Jones looked fantastic as he was quick and nimble throughout the entire practice. Needless to say, Jones is more than ready for this upcoming season.

With Jones at wide receiver, Tannehill will have even more options to work with, and it is safe to say that the Titans are easily the best team in the AFC South right now. There are very few teams that can actually challenge them, and it wouldn’t be shocking if this roster went on a deep playoff run.

At this point, the only team standing in their way is the Kansas City Chiefs.

Erica Banks Explains Why She Always Keeps A Bottle Of Hennessy In Her Bag

Texas-based rapper Erica Banks has had herself an incredible year, breaking out into the rap world as one of the most exciting up-and-coming women in the game. With flows for days, the 22-year-old rising star has officially gotten her first gold plaque, revealing last week that her breakout single “Buss It” had sold over 500,000 copies. She’s presently trying to recreate the viral success of the Nelly-sampling track with her latest single “Toot That,” which is another twerk anthem that could potentially blow up on social media.

As she continues to elevate in the music industry, Erica Banks opened up with us and emptied out the contents of her Louis Vuitton bag, showing what she carries around with her at all times.

The first item that she pulled out was a bottle of Hennessy. Cognac appears to have a special effect on Erica Banks, putting her in that zone and allowing her to feel more confident when she’s recording. “My friend right here turns me up, gives me the life of the party vibes, it wakes me up, in the studio it keeps me going and it allows me to have a good time,” she said about Henny.

Elsewhere in her bag, she keeps a bonnet, a flat iron for when the bonnet comes off, an iced-out watch, and a hairbrush.

Quavo Went Onto ‘First Take’ And Continued His Beef With Kendrick Perkins

Migos are making the media rounds in anticipation of Culture III, which drops on Friday. One such cameo was Quavo heading onto First Take, which included a pretty fun wrinkle: an interaction between himself and Kendrick Perkins.

Perkins and Quavo have been butting heads ever since the latter dropped Quavo Huncho, which included the line “Get no playin’ time, Kendrick Perkins” on the track “Fuck 12.” Perkins, as you might guess, didn’t particularly enjoy this, and over the years, he’s made this point clear. The latest example of this came over the weekend, when Migos performed at the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul fight and Perkins tweeted the following…

A few days later, the two had a back-and-forth after Quavo used a picture of Perkins and a fist emoji to promote the new album.

This set up the two going back-and-forth on First Take, and while the show usually relies on debates over random sports things to get people on set riled up, it legitimately seemed like Quavo and Perkins were going at one another over this.

Anyway, if Migos decide to delay Culture III at the last minute, we can all assume it is because there’s going to be a line making fun of Perk on it. Unless, of course, that already exists.

New Orleans’ 2021 Voodoo Festival Has Been Canceled, But It’s Expected To Return In 2022

As cities across the country remain hopeful for the return of large in-person events starting at the end of the summer, major music festivals have started rolling out their 2021 lineups. But one festival in particular has decided to not return this calendar year. New Orleans’ Voodoo Festival announced that they are canceling their 2021 event, but plan to make an official return in 2022.

Sharing the news on social media, Voodoo festival organizers wrote, “Voodoo Music + Arts Experience will take a pause in 2021 and will return to to City Park for an epic Halloween experience in 2022. As our city reopens with an abundance of events to reconnect with, we look forward to holding our reunion when we can fully embrace the voodoo experience.”

Voodoo Festival did not state their reason for deciding to cancel this year’s event. In a statement to local news site Nola, the mayor’s spokesperson Beau Tidwell said the decision was not made by the city. “There was no communication from the city to Voodoo Fest organizers that they could not proceed,” Tidwell said.

News of the cancellation arrives just days after New Orleans festival Buku unveiled their lineup, which is slated to take place the week before Halloween weekend. The lineup boasts some of the biggest names in music, like Megan Thee Stallion, Playboi Carti, and Machine Gun Kelly. Because festivals typically issue a radius clause, which bars an artist from performing elsewhere for a number of days both before and after their festival time slot, it’s possible that Voodoo had trouble finding musicians who were able to perform their event.

Some of the artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

El Chapo’s Wife Pleads Guilty; Faces Life in Prison

Following the fate of her husband drug dealer “El Chapo”, Emma Coronel Aispuro will be heading to jail.

Back in February, the wife of “El Chapo” was arrested at an airport in Virginia on the basis of her involvement in a conspiracy to help her husband escape from prison. The drug lord successfully escaped prison in 2015 with help from his wife but was caught by police in 2016.

As we previously reported, the former beauty queen had planned to expand on her appearance on VHS’ Cartel Crew TV show and launch an El Chapo-branded clothing line before her arrest.

The thirty-one-year-old is now facing the consequences to her actions though, appearing in court this week. Aispuro is up against charges for intent to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana along with money laundering charges.

Surprisingly, she pled guilty on Thursday in a Washington D.C. federal court, owning up to her actions. There were rumors of a plea deal and even a brand new identity for her in exchange for information, but none of these plans seemed to materialize.

TMZ reported the judge stated Aispuro faces the same sentence as “El Chapo” — life in prison — with 10 years being the lowest possible sentence for her involvement in drug trafficking. It has also been reported that she will not receive special treatment or security while serving her sentence.

With the couple both facing life sentences, the Bonnie and Clyde pair are likely to never see each other again.

Lil Durk’s Alleged Baby Mama Says He Cut His 7-Year-Old Son Off

Lil Durk is one of the biggest rappers in the world right now, being embraced in the mainstream as one of the most consistent superstars in his genre. The Chicago rapper rarely misses and he’s known to release multiple projects per year, most recently striking with his collaborative album with Lil Baby, titled The Voice of the Heroes. On several of the songs on the album, Durkio speaks about how he’s set his kids up for success, but one of his alleged baby mamas doesn’t necessarily agree with him, calling him out during a recent interview.

Lil Durk’s alleged baby mama Travonna, who gave birth to their son seven years ago, claims that she used to buy the rapper White Castle all the time but these days, she doesn’t see any money from him for their child.

“Seven years ago when my son was born, you were not who you are now. I was giving you rides to the studio and buying you White Castle because you had to wait for checks for different stuff when you were with other companies,” she said, calling out Durk. “You didn’t even have title to your money. Now you stacking it up and you’re talking about how you take care of all of your kids but you ain’t sent my son nothing! You buy designer, you always brag about taking care of your homies in jail, and my son is just completely exed out of the whole equation constantly.”

Travonna claims that she has not stayed in contact with Durk. Her interview with Tasha K is currently making the rounds. You can watch the video in question below, as well as some pictures with her son.

Lil Durk & Lil Baby “The Voice Of The Heroes” Review

The title The Voice Of The Heroes isn’t simply a convergence of Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s respective universes; it acts as a statement, echoing the success of the past 12-plus months of their individual careers. Lil Baby and Lil Durk build off of their consistency as solo and feature artists to achieve what few rappers of their stature have done effectively on a collaborative project — complement each other.

The Voice Of The Heroes is, undoubtedly, a product of supply-and-demand, but fortunately, it didn’t succumb to its would-be fate as an easy money-grab consisting of a bloated tracklist full of throwaways and mailed-in verses. A fan’s request manifested itself from a tweet to an 18-song album that upholds the standard the artists have set for themselves on songs like “3 Headed Goat” and “Finesse Out The Gang Way”; a balance of gut-wrenching ballads filled with vivid flashbacks of trauma, carousels of wealth, status, fame, and the perils that come with it.

Despite the generation gap between their respective come-ups, The Voice Of The Heroes is an hour-long display of their synchronicity — a celebration of shared morals and ethics that have carried their success from the trenches to the charts, strip clubs to frequent radio rotation. Durk and Baby haven’t lost sight of the experiences that made them. Hence, why the collab project can be summed up by calls for Larry Hoover and Big Meech’s releases — two individuals whose value and contributions to their communities in Chicago and Atlanta, respectively, turned them into beacons of hope. Similarly, Durk and Baby carry that same ethos in their execution of TVOTH. “Durk’s the voice ‘cause he knows what to say/ I’m the hero, I come through, save the day,” Baby raps on the title track through his lean-induced vocoder-tinged delivery. Ultimately, it’s their understanding of the bigger picture (no pun intended) that allows their egos and looming presence in rap to co-exist harmoniously across the project.

Durk sounds revitalized here, even after releasing a solo album and the OTF compilation tape in the months prior. The rapper pulls back the auto-tune even further on several occasions, like on “Still Runnin” featuring Meek Mill. His raw, unadulterated flow is a timely reminder of his emergence as a frontrunner of the drill scene and his evident influence on today’s sound.

Baby, on the other hand, might not be outperforming Durk on every single track but, much like his ascent to stardom, there’s a firm understanding of his lane. Unfortunately, there are fewer stand-out moments from Baby on the project in comparison to Durk. Baby’s execution as a collaborator is his best quality on The Voice Of The Heroes. Durk’s rapping with a chip on his shoulder on nearly every track while Baby isn’t consistently exuding the same level of hunger. In those instances, Baby’s earworm hooks and riveting cadences serve to elevate Durk’s performance.

What Baby does best, though, is offer a glimpse into his next move. His consistency has made him a fixture in hip-hop, but there’s bound to be a moment where it runs its course. By finding new pockets of melodies, even if done subtly like on DJ Khaled’s “EVERY CHANCE I GET,” there’s a peek into a potential evolution of his sound.

The Voice Of The Heroes doesn’t exceed the artists’ solo efforts by any means. Baby and Durk’s best qualities as artists are their ear for production, but they fail to truly identify a common sound that plays into their respective strengths. Instead, the album bounces between songs that sound like Lil Durk featuring Lil Baby and vice versa; production that either fits into the atmospheric and opulent sounds of Atlanta, like on “Please,” or the menacing tones of drill on “Lying.” It’s a safety net that allowed little room for failure. A proven formula that stirred up the demand for a collaborative album in the first place.

The rise of Lil Baby and Lil Durk in 2020 coincided with what will historically be known as the worst year in modern history. And perhaps, that’s why their presence was so necessary over the course of the year. “Rich Off Pain” with Rod Wave is the thesis statement to the album in that sense. Over shredding electric guitars, Durk and Baby reflect on their own traumas and experiences that have informed their music and made it so compelling. More importantly, they’ve remained hopeful throughout these times, inspiring others to do the same in their own journey. The Voice Of The Heroes is a celebration of triumph yet a reflection of pain. The riches and extravagance earned through hard work and the survivor’s remorse of losing friends on the way. The power that comes with wealth and fame, and the responsibilities that it’s accompanied by.
