Isaiah Rashad’s New Collaboration With Lil Uzi Vert Is Fresh Like It Came ‘From The Garden’

With Isaiah Rashad’s new album, The House Is Burning just hours from release, the TDE rapper releases just one more song to juice the hype. Incidentally, it might also be one of the songs with the biggest buzz — which isn’t to say that “Lay Wit Ya” with Duke Deuce, “Headshots (4r Da Locals),” “Wat U Sed,” featuring Doechii and Kal Banks, or “Runnin’” with Schoolboy Q weren’t heavily anticipated on their own. It’s just that Lil Uzi Vert, the guest star on “From The Garden,” is one of the biggest stars in rap right now, and hearing him paired with Isaiah constituted one of the more intriguing possibilities.

The spare beat, which is produced by Kal Banks, features a dramatic soul sample reworked from the version Rashad teased on his Instagram Live nearly four years ago. Within the verses, the two rappers spit boastful verses that find them linking themselves to such pop-culture figures as Shazam and Lil Wayne. It’ll be one of those songs that definitely turn the crowd up when it gets played live on Isaiah’s upcoming tour.

The House Is Burning is due 7/30 on TDE/Warner. You can pre-save it now.

Vince Staples Recorded ’30 Verses On 30 Beats’ For A Joint Project With Alchemist And Earl Sweatshirt

Today in “news guaranteed to make rap fans salivate,” Vince Staples revealed that he and Earl Sweatshirt recorded a joint project with The Alchemist, leading to the Long Beach native putting “30 verses on 30 beats.” Unfortunately, Vince jokes that “Alchemist moves at a very cryptic pace — he’s hella slow,” leading to him recording his new album Vince Staples with Kenny Beats. He further reveals that there are anywhere from 12 to 22 leftovers from that project after picking the initial eight songs that worked for the self-titled album.

So to recap, there are up to 50 Vince Staples songs out there that haven’t been heard by anyone but him, his producers, and Earl Sweatshirt. Obviously, this news has fans in a tizzy, wondering when — or indeed, if — these songs will ever come out. Since it’s 2021 and social media exists, they will undoubtedly be insufferable about it until they find out.

Meanwhile, Vince’s latest rollout media blitz has unearthed even more notable quotes from the Long Beach native. On Drink Champs, he recounted how he got into music and that Mac Miller never accepted royalties from their Stolen Youth joint tape, as well as explaining why he always avoided drugs and alcohol. He also broke down how the music business monetizes people’s struggles and spit a mind-blowing verse over Dr. Dre’s “Xplosive” beat for LA Leakers.

Stunna Gambino Drops Off New Single “ZAZA”

Stunna Gambino has been making a buzz of late, and today the rapper has returned with his brand new single “ZAZA.” A tone is set from the jump as an atmospheric guitar arpeggio kicks in, a favored backdrop for today’s new generation. As his verse begins, Gambino makes it clear that he’s dealing with both 808s and heartbreak, vowing that he’ll never be duped by a woman again.

“Swear this gon be the last time, put my trust in a bitch,” he raps, his melodic delivery catching the beat nicely. “Know these bitches ain’t shit, I remember what happened the last time / if they kill me they kill me, go out like a legend, it’s fuck around might be my last rhyme.” There’s a defiance brewing beneath his melancholia however, and he makes sure to issue due warning to anyone seeking to test him. “They say I’m Illuminati, he dark side,” raps Stunna. “Don’t you ever play with my feelings, shit could get dangerous, I have a dark side.”

Check out “ZAZA” now, and sound off below if Stunna Gambino has earned a place on your radar.

Lakers Closing In On Massive Trade Package For Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook has been one of the best all-around players in the NBA over the past few years. His ability to register triple-doubles is second to none and when paired with another superstar, he is always a huge force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, he has had limited success over the past few years, and it’s been a while since he found himself on a contending team.

He was traded to the Washington Wizards last season, and in the end, they lost in the first round to the Philadelphia 76ers. Since that time, fans have been wondering whether or not Westbrook would want to return to the team and run things back with a star like Bradley Beal.

Well, it appears as though Westbrook is on the verge of being traded as Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are closing in on a deal with the Wizards that would send Westbrook to L.A. The Lakers would be trading Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and the 22nd overall pick in exchange for the triple-double king.

The Lakers had been planning to use those assets on Buddy Hield, although they opted to change course and use them on Westbrook instead. The deal has yet to be finalized, although, at this point, it’s looking like it could be done before the draft officially begins.

Stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest news from around the NBA.

Ben Simmons Offered To Warriors For Exorbitant Price: Details

Ben Simmons is the most talked-about player in the NBA right now and it isn’t for the best of reasons. As it stands, Simmons is about to be traded by the Philadelphia 76ers, as they feel as though he has not lived up to his potential. While he can put up big numbers in the regular season, he ends up turning into dust during the playoffs, and it has led to a plethora of early postseason exits that have had fans demanding better.

Earlier today, it was revealed that Sixers GM Daryl Morey had offered Simmons to the San Antonio Spurs, as well as the Toronto Raptors. The big issue with both of these offers is that Morey wanted too much. For instance, he wanted the Raptors to give the Sixers Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, and OG Anunoby, as well as the fourth overall pick. Meanwhile, they wanted upwards of seven draft picks from the Spurs.

Now, it is being reported by sources close to the situation that the Sixers offered Simmons to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for James Wiseman, Andrew Wiggins, the 7th overall pick, and the 14th overall pick. The Sixers also wanted two future first-round picks on top of that. As you can imagine, the Warriors quickly declined such madness.

The Sixers want to trade Simmons away by tonight, although with these asking prices, it could be a while before a deal is made. Either way, stay tuned to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you all of the latest updates from around the NBA.

Twitter Reacts To DDG’s Strange Lemon Pepper Wings

Against all odds, DDG was recently crowned one of the 2021 XXL Freshmen. The vlogger-turned-rapper-turned-boxer is clearly a man of many creative and athletic talents, and despite people labeling him as just a YouTube personality, DDG has reached unbelievable heights in the music industry.

Coming off of an energetic Rolling Loud performance, the Die 4 Respect artist decided to peel back another layer to his artistry by showing off his cooking skills, but unfortunately, it immediately backfired. Taking to Twitter to brag about his cooking skills, DDG shared a picture of some strange-looking lemon pepper wings along with the caption, “just whipped up some lemon pepper wings!! if i cook for her, she mine.” Apparently, the XXL Freshman has a rather peculiar recipe for his fried chicken though, because the chicken doesn’t look like the typical lemon pepper wings that one would order from a restaurant.

As more fans continue to react to the appearance of the rapper’s chicken wings, they have subsequently caused DDG’s weird wings to go viral. As a result, Twitter users have been bashing DDG’s cooking skills, joking that his girlfriend is going to be really disappointed, and comparing his strange-looking wings to Long John Silver’s battered fish.

With some fans absolutely confused and others utterly disgusted, here are some of the best Twitter reactions to DDG’s lemon pepper wings so far.

Teyana Taylor Teases Farewell Tour

Last December, Teyana Taylor shook the female R&B landscape up a bit when she made the unexpected announcement that she had decided to retire. By posting an impressive Spotify Wrapped stat sheet for 2020, the Harlem-born artist revealed that she would be hanging up her career as a recording artist, and true to her word, Teyana Taylor has not released any new music since making her retirement announcement.

While some fans try to grapple with the fact that their favorite R&B singer is now a full-fledged director and actress, others are still holding out hope that they’ll be able to experience Teyana Taylor’s musical talents for one last time. According to the mother of two, fans can definitely expect some live shows in the near future.

A curious fan recently reached out to the K.T.S.E. artist on Twitter and asked her, “Before you retire all the way, can we get a tour?” Thanks to that Twitter user, fans quickly got an answer from Teyana Taylor, who confirmed that she will in fact be touring before officially putting her music career to rest.

“Yes,” Teyana replied. “I will be doing a farewell tour in a few months [black heart emoji].”

Royce Da 5’9″ Invites Eminem, Joyner Lucas, & More To Join Lupe Fiasco Battle

Those who have been keeping score likely know that Royce Da 5’9″ and Lupe Fiasco have been embroiled in a lyrical that has already seen one exchange of tracks. Following Royce’s “Silence Of The Lambda,” which featured a few jabs in Lupe’s direction, his opponent upped the ante with the far-more-personal “Steve Jobs.” Following that, Mickey Factz also hopped into the fray on Fiasco’s team, hitting Royce with another diss in “Wraith.”

Though Royce has given no inclination that he intends on clapping back on wax, he has been actively speaking on the topic on Instagram Live. The legendary lyricist recently had an amusing Live session, where he expressed “disappointment” with some of his fellow bar-spitters — especially those within his inner circle.

“Speaking of Crook and Joell, what are they up to?” asks Royce, with a laugh. “Watching me get jumped on? Where’s the order right now? You know what I would be doing right now if somebody pulled this on one of my loved ones? I would have been rapped. I’m disappointed in Crooked, I’m disappointed in Joell, I’m disappointed in King Los, I’m disappointed in Grafh, I’m disappointed in Joyner Lucas, I’m disappointed in Marshall. Nah, I ain’t disappointed in Marshall.”

“Those people right there I just named are very close loved ones,” he continues. “Never should you sit back and watch me–It’s not about [trusting me], that’s not the point I’m making.” He smiles, making it clear that he’s not entirely serious. “It’s not about them wondering if I can handle myself in rapping. It’s the fact that you’re looking at me, and you’re looking at two other individuals gang up on me on some lyrical shit, and you just sitting there watching.”

He is of course referring to Lupe Fiasco and Mickey Factz, both of whom attacked Royce in a pair of diss tracks. When asked whether or not Em has weighed in yet, Royce shakes his head. “I don’t think it made its way to the fuckin’ Android Metro phone,” he laughs. “I don’t think it’s that fuckin big! Hasn’t reached the Batphone yet.”

Eventually, Bun B hops on the live session, and Royce asks why he hasn’t intervened on his behalf. “I know I’m being attacked,” says Royce, though Bun isn’t convinced. “You don’t look very defensive for somebody being attacked,” he retorts. “Why would your friends jump in the fight that you don’t need help with.” Royce chuckles, perhaps sensing that Bun has a point. “You know these n***as,” says Bun. “If they were to get into this, they not going to halfway do it. Then you gotta talk them down the ledge.”

“Look how you sitting there eating snacks and shit,” says Bun. Royce demands “eight bars of Houston energy.” But not only that. “I want you to diss Mickey Factz,” he says, “and I want you to do it immediately.” The laughter makes it clear that most of this is tongue in cheek, but other times, it’s genuinely difficult to get a read of the room. Especially once the conversation swerves into chip-eating etiquette territory — which evidently proved to be the breaking point for Bun B.

Check out the amusing conversation below, and sound off if you think Royce has any intention of clapping back against Fiasco and Facts — with or without backup. At this point, it’s starting to feel like he’s being pulled back in, though it’s certainly been a minute since the “Malcolm X” days.

Lil Yachty Goes Soft-Rock In The Fluffy Video For ‘Love Music’

Earlier today, I wrote about how rappers in 2021 are breaking out of their comfort zones and trying new things, unconcerned with fitting archetypes or remaining stuck with one consistent sound like rappers of the past. Lil Yachty’s new song, “Love Music,” offers a perfect example. Rather than relying on the bass-heavy, bombastic trap that he’s been kicking around the last couple of years or even reverting to his early cartoon-trap styles, this song sees him going soft-rock like it’s 2005 all over again.

Naturally, the video is accompanied by a colorful video full of fluffy cotton candy clouds and six-foot sunflowers, which surround Yachty and his leading lady as they hold hands, have a picnic with Baskin Robbins, and Yachty turns into a real-life heart eyes emoji. The cutesy aesthetic is a sharp contrast to Yachty’s most recent work with the grimy grifters of the Detroit rap scene on Michigan Boy Boat, but right in line with the playful image he cultivated early in his career and still maintains with Reece’s Puffs raps and movies based on Uno.

“Love Music” is also part of a general shift in the landscape toward the sounds of the 2000s — namely pop-punk, which pervades new and upcoming releases from the likes of MGK, Willow Smith, and Young Thug. Once again, Yachty’s playing the part of trendsetter, providing the poppier counterpoint to the aggressive (but still fun) music being made by his contemporaries.

Aaron Rodgers Weighs In On Simone Biles Controversy

Aaron Rodgers is one of the biggest athletes in the world and as a top-tier athlete in his field, he understands the pressures that come with it all. As a member of the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers has proven himself to be a winner although, over the past few years, he has struggled to get himself a second title.

Rodgers has recently found himself in a controversy when it comes to the Packers, as he was holding out in hopes of a trade. Now, the situation has been resolved although the Packers need to prove they can surround him with talent in order for him to stay long-term.

The quarterback is a big proponent of mental health, which was a big factor in his decisions to stay with Green Bay. In fact, during an interview with reporters, Rodgers spoke about the Simone Biles situation, and how athletes need to do what is best for them.

“I think it’s important that we work on our mental state and as you’ve seen with Simone Biles, I think there needs to be more conversation around that,” Rodgers said. “We as athletes are often put on a pedestal that we’re not — that we’re beyond any mental hindrances or clutter. And the only time that mental health often gets talked about is when it’s under the conversation of depression. I didn’t have any depression, but I have a ton of respect for people who speak out in those situations.”

Biles has been heavily scrutinized for her decision, however, there are plenty of people out there who have supported her every step of the way. They understand that these pressures can be damaging to athletes, and now, the stage has been set for other athletes to do the same thing if they feel overwhelmed.
