Karlae Addresses Young Thug Relationship & Reveals Thoughts On Marriage

Young Thug and Karlae are one of hip-hop’s most unproblematic couples. They’ve been dating for seven years, building an inseparable bond that only grows tighter as Karlae continues to evolve as an artist. This year, she was a standout inclusion on the #1 album Slime Language 2, coming through with the catchy songs “I Like” and “Trance.”

To celebrate the chart-topping album, and as a precursor to Young Thug’s next solo studio album Punk, we spoke with Karlae about her relationship with the rapper, asking her about their brief split at the end of last year, and about whether she sees herself walking down the aisle soon.

I met him a long time ago,” said Karlae about Young Thug, whom she was engaged to for years. “We were friends for a really long time and then we started dating. We got engaged and I was on the road with him for a long time. I picked up a lot of my musical sense from him. We’ve been together for 7 years and I’ve known him for 7 years. We linked up in Miami and have been attached at the hip ever since.”

Addressing her confusing tweets from December 2020, in which she accused the rapper of abuse, called him the “devil,” and said she was single, Karlae explains that they’ve gotten back on good terms.

“We have an undeniable bond,” she said. “We love each other to death, in a weird way. Right now, we’re in the process of just proving that we’re not going to be Mr. and Mrs. Smith and try to tear each other’s heads off. We’re just vibing and enjoying life, but that’s my baby and vice versa.”

Their relationship may be rocky at times, but that doesn’t mean marriage is out of the question in the future. Karlae explained that they’ve got some humps to get over, but that she hasn’t ruled it out.

I just want us to be on the same page and focus on having so much fun,” she said. “When we first met, I was really hard on him. But now, I just want us both to enjoy these experiences, be grateful, and enjoy our lives. With my journey in music and him being a CEO, I can’t see us getting married right now. I feel like now we need to focus on being artists and living our lives because we were together since we were like babies. We never got to take a breather and not think about marriage and other scary stuff.”

YNW Melly’s “Just A Matter Of Slime” Projected To Move 20K Units In First Week

YNW Melly’s new album, Just A Matter of Slimeis expected to move 20,000 units in its first week after release, a downtrend from his last project, Melly vs. Melvin, which sold 43,000 album-equivalent units.

The twelve tracks put forth on Just A Matter of Slime feature appearances from Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Future, Lil Baby, and more, that Melly reportedly locked in, himself, from prison.

The new album was produced while Melly is currently behind bars awaiting trial in Broward County, Florida, where prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for two counts of first-degree murder.

It’s likely Melly’s current predicament hindered album sales, as the “Murder on My Mind” rapper was limited to promoting the album from the isolation of prison. He uploaded a video to his Instagram, last Friday, telling fans to go stream his new album.

“It’s your boy YNW Melly and I want y’all to go stream my new album,” he says in the video, which shows him speaking from prison. “Everything Gucci, as you can see,” he continued while holding up a Gucci shoe to the camera.

The families of the victims have filed civil suits against the rapper as well.

Abra’s “Unlock It” With Playboi Carti Was Worth The Wait

On July 30, Abra’s comeback single “Unlock It” was hurling towards streaming services when the featured artist, Playboi Carti, reportedly blocked its release due to being unhappy with the mixing on his verse. Nearly a month later, the single has finally arrived, and it was definitely worth the wait.

Abra’s first major-label single boasts production from the legendary electronic producer Boys Noize as well as a high-spirited feature from the Whole Lotta Red artist, who actually has a close connection with her. “Unlock It” is a reunion of sorts for them, as they both rose to prominence while under Father’s indie label Awful Records during the early 2010s. Now, after traveling different paths, the two Atlanta artists have linked back up and delivered a record that just might be Abra and Playboi Carti’s next hit.

“‘Unlock It’ means so much to me for more reasons than I can count, and as someone very sentimental and nostalgic, it is truly a blessing to be able to unlock the next level of my career with a friend,” Abra said in a statement. “I’ve always been so proud of what Carti’s been able to achieve and having the fortune of reuniting with him for this song specifically feels like a trophy to what the song is about — validation for the long winding journey it took to get here and makes me feel a little more at home in this crazy new world I’m about to step into!”

Give it a listen below and let us know in the comments if you’re feeling Abra and Playboi Carti’s upbeat new collab.

The Weeknd Drops $70 Million On His New Estate: Photos

The Weeknd used to be homeless in the streets of Toronto, and now he’s living inside a $70 million mansion in Bel Air.

This week, the superstar recording artist locked down a deal on a new estate in Bel Air, California, dropping $70 million on the place, according to TMZ. The massive new estate is now in The Weeknd’s hands after he reportedly convinced the home’s previous owners to give up the keys. The home includes 33,000-square-feet of livable space.

The deal was reportedly completed off the market. The home’s previous owners were not looking to sell, but the artist’s offer was seemingly too good for them to pass up. It comes with nine bedrooms, a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, a sports court, and a studio for him to record at.

Young Thug Dives Headfirst Into ‘Punk’ With The Riotous ‘Tick Tock’

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re officially in Young Thug season. The rapper’s last album came in the summer of 2019 with So Much Fun and since then, the rapper teamed with his YSL label for Slime Language 2, joined Chris Brown for Slime & B, and worked with countless other artists on various other songs. However, now it’s time for Young Thug to shine and the new era for the rapper comes with a new sound as well, one that’s easily heard on his new single “Tick Tock.”

The Atlanta rapper’s newest release takes heavy influence from the rock and pop world while keeping his trademark raps intact for what results in a riotous clash of genres. “Tick Tock” is a record Thug originally premiered at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival at the end of July. It’s there that he announced that his next album would arrive in the near future. “Yo so listen,” Thug said onstage. “I’m about to put this album out, right? It’s called Punk. Days later, he would perform the song as well as other new records from Punk during his NPR Tiny Desk. His set, which also featured an appearance from Travis Barker, is where the rapper revealed Punk is set to arive on October 15.

Young Thug first announced Punk during a profile with Fader, and in it, the rapper revealed what listeners can expect on the new project. “It’s most definitely touching music,” he said. “It’s music that the world is going to embrace. […] [Punk] means brave, not self-centered, conscious. Very, very neglected, very misunderstood. Very patient, very authentic.”

You can listen to “Tick Tock” in the video above.

Beyonce’s Dad Insists Destiny’s Child Has No Plans To Reunite Despite Recent Rumors

Recently, the Destiny’s Child social media pages made some aesthetic changes, which had fans excitedly theorizing that the trio was planning some sort of reunion, whether that meant new music, some tour dates, or something else. However, now, Mathew Knowles, Beyonce’s father and the group’s manager, has put those rumors to rest.

TMZ reports that Knowles told them that there are currently no plans for Destiny’s Child to reunite, make new music, go on tour or do anything like that. As for the social media updates, those were apparently just some routine changes made be the group’s record label, which Knowles did not requested. Knowles notes, though, that the response to the Destiny’s Child rumors is “great” and shows that there’s demand for a comeback, which is something they will take into account going forward.

This all comes shortly after Beyonce offered an update on her music, saying in an interview, “I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!”
