[WATCH] Babs Bunny Responds To Freddy P’s Comments About Diddy

The world watched as Bad Boy Records founder/CEO Sean “Diddy” Combs sternly coached his hand picked artists on Making The Band, the VH1-powered reality show that promised to make stars out of those who could pass the industry tests set out by the multi-millionaire music mogul. Recently, one of the artists from the first season, Freddy P, made statements criticizing Diddy and his handling of the artists and how the mistreatment almost forced him to commit suicide.

Now, Babs Bunny, another one of the first season artists from Making The Band who shared screen time with Freddy, responded to the statements made by the Newark, NJ native and Willie Taylor, who added that the show was set up for artists to fail. Babs can agree that they were all offered less than desirable contracts, but says that the real artists were the ones who made the best out of what only some would consider a bad situation.

On this day twenty eight ago, Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal aka Guru and DJ Premier dropped their fourth album aptly entitled Hard To Earn.

As one of Gangstarr’s most circulated, but underrated projects, Hard To Earn, which was released on the Chrysalis/EMI imprint, set the pace for the Gangstarr sound and legacy. Exclusively produced by the legendary duo, Hard To Earn is a prototypical representation of authentic Hip Hop aimed to please aficionados of the culture and the music rather than seeking mainstream success.

The result? A timeless single (“DWYCK”) featuring Nice N’ Smooth, another groundbreaking single whose title is now being used as a thriving magazine name (“Mass Appeal”) and several other tracks (“Tonz O’ Gunz”, “Code Of The Streets”, “The Planet”) that further solidified Gangstarr’s position as one of the most influential duos in Hip-Hop history.

Salute to Guru(R.I.P.), DJ Premier, Jeru Da Damaja, Lil Dap and the rest of the Gangstarr Foundation for this crucial piece of Hip-Hop history!

Eminem Becomes The Most Certified Artist For Singles In RIAA Gold And Platinum Program History

Screen Shot 2022 03 08 at 12.01.29 PM

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) today announced 73.5 million new Gold & Platinum Program certifications for Eminem. The Shady/Aftermath/Interscope artist is now the number one awarded musician for singles in the program’s history and one of only seven artists in any genre or era with three or more Diamond Album Awards.

Eminem’s combined six RIAA Diamond awards, three albums and three singles, catapult him into music’s stratosphere and cement his place as one of the most accomplished artists in history. With today’s 73.5 million new award units, Eminem’s RIAA Award career total is now 227.5 million – 166 million single certifications and 61.5 million album certifications.

RIAA Chairman & CEO Mitch Glazier says, “These awards recognize Eminem’s unflinching commitment to his craft and the enduring connection he has forged with fans over the last twenty years. With today’s announcement, Eminem becomes the top certified singles artist in our program’s history and adds a rare third Diamond Album to his many creative accomplishments. Congratulations to Eminem and his entire label team who have set the bar higher than ever!”

“Interscope joins Aftermath in congratulating Marshall, Paul, and the entire Shady team on this remarkable achievement. It has been an honor to be part of one of the greatest journeys in the history of recorded music. The most beautiful part of this is it feels like the journey has just begun,” said Steve Berman, Vice Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M.

Created by the RIAA in 1958 to honor artists and create a standard to measure the commercial success of a sound recording, the Gold & Platinum Awards Program is the industry’s premier barometer for recognizing artistic achievement in the music marketplace.

The program trademarked the Gold Record (500,000 units) and formalized the industry practice of presenting awards to artists for music sales achievements. Later came the Platinum Award (1,000,000), Multi-Platinum Award (2,000,000 plus) and the Diamond Award (10,000,000 plus). In 2000, the RIAA created its Premios de Oro y Platino Awards to celebrate Latin music, specifically albums and songs that are more than 50 percent Spanish language. The RIAA has counted digital sales since 2004 and on-demand streams since 2013.

Will NBA YoungBoy Accept Lil Durk’s Album Release Date Challenge?

youngboy never broke again

These past weeks, fans have seen NBA Youngboy and Lil Durk shading each other not only on social media but also in records. It’s remarkable to say that despite the ongoing rap beef, the two are still setting trends in the industry. In the midst of the online back and forth, the two had everyone on social media spelling out phrases in money, other creative items.

These days, fans and celebrities have been drawing the line between Lil Durk and NBA Youngboy, choosing which side they rep, OTF or 4TK. Unless you’re like DJ Akademiks who believes it’s not smart to choose sides in a rap beef.

“Fans who choose a side are weird too.. man Durk and YB are both in my top 5 rappers. I ain’t gangsta lol I’d laugh at either or if they expected me to pick sides … Both are two talented black men. Hope they resolve their issues amicably or ignore each other. It’s music,” he penned on Twitter.

The two rappers could be battling head to head yet again, after Lil Durk announced the official release date to his highly anticipated album, “7220” which is set to release on March 11th.

“I dare a n***a drop on my date 3/11/22 but anyway von did 65k,” the Chicago rapper wrote, while also giving praise to the late King Von whose posthumous album What It Means to be King, released March 2nd.

Following that post, the Louisiana rapper’s producer, Jason Goldberg, would post what could be the cover art for an album with the caption, “The Last Slimeto 3/00/22.” Fans are wondering if this could mean that NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk will go head to head in numbers on March 11th. This marks as NBA YoungBoy’s last album with Atlantic Records.

Chloe Bailey Keeping It Spicy in Upcoming Single “Treat Me”

Chloe Bailey

Chloe Bailey continues to push her career as a solo artist, keeping the flavor hot and spicy for her fans, with a new snippet for her upcoming single, “Treat Me.”

The 24-year-old turned up the heat with her debut single, “Have Mercy,” released in 2021. The fiesty song boosted to the top 5 of Billboard’s Hot R&B digital and streaming charts and peaked at number 28 on Billboard’s Hot 100. At first, fans were concerned with the young artist’s choices, believing that she would appear too fast as she glorified her assets.

“Men can glorify a** in their videos, I want to do it with this in a really artful, fun, beautiful way,” the singer told MTV News.

“I think it’s so great how women can claim ownership of their bodies and not let the world do it. We get to do it in the way that we want to, and it was really fun!”

Many anticipated more music from Chloe as she embarked on her new journey as a solo artist. While not caring about the haters, the “Do It” singer kept her foot on their necks with an appearance on Gunna’s third studio album, “DS4Ever,” in their collab hit “You & Me.” It’s safe to say Chloe has a lot more in store for her fans, as the singer released a snippet of her upcoming music visual with Chloe dressed in diamonds from head to toe.

The Beyonce protege dropped a hint that fans caught onto just days before the announcement, where she posted a tweet reading seven diamond emojis to her Twitter account. “7 diamonds = 7 days until the announcement?” a fan responded.

It turns out that the fan was correct as Chloe posted the teaser with the caption. “Treat me coming soon. pre-save link in bio,” followed by a diamond emoji. While many celebrities such as SZA and Muni Long commented, showing their excitement for the singer’s latest project, Halle Bailey, younger sister of Chloe, showed her usual support for her sister in the comment section as well. “woo !!!!!!! they not ready!!!!!!!!!,” she wrote before adding fire emojis to another post.

Associate of Lil Durk Calls Out DaBaby Following Joint Album Release With NBA YoungBoy

DaBaby Dropped From Governors Ball Lineup Following Homophobic Remarks

Last Friday, DaBaby and NBA Youngboy would release their highly anticipated joint album, Better Than You. The collaboration couldn’t have come at a better time for the artists, as it’s safe to say, following the recent series of events, both DaBaby and NBA Youngboy could be the most hated in the industry at this moment.

While the album received some mixed reviews, a member of Lil Durk’s camp, Memo 600, commented on the rap duo on Instagram. “CANT BLAME DA BABY HE THOUGHT THAT MAN WAS [GONE] SAVE HIS CAREER,” he wrote.

DJ Akademiks has no problem stirring up the pot. Akademiks responded to the controversy to defend the North Carolina rapper.

“Pray for Memo600.. he learning the same lesson many learned before.. Da Baby don’t give af bout nothing. He ain’t about to pick no sides and he ain’t gonna be pressured or forced to. N he standing on it,” he penned.

“Fans who choose a side are weird too.. man Durk and YB are both in my top 5 rappers. I ain’t gangsta lol I’d laugh at either or if they expected me to pick sides,” he continued. “Both are two talented black men. Hope they resolve their issues amicably or ignore each other. It’s music… Reason why I said Da Baby ain’t picking a side.. he ain’t making cuz he did a collab album with YB mean that he gotta disrespect VON and he ain’t making that he respect Von n communicate Durk mean he can’t work with YB.”

This comes after DaBaby directly responded to Memo600’s comments with a penned message on Instagram. “I played it cool cuz yall n*ggas wanna make it bout yall Patna & ion speak on the dead cuz in onnat frfr! every day I wake up ready to teach me a n*gga like you,” the rapper wrote with a kissy face emoji.

“So Long Live em, @kingvonfromdao GOT my respect, he stood on business no excuses, it was just another n*gga there ready to stand on business too,” he continued.

Akademiks continued to defend the rapper after comparing the situation to Meg Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez’s, where DaBaby would receive a lot of backlash for bringing out Tory Lanez during a previous set at Rolling Loud.

“Da Baby told Meg he wasn’t finna pick sides between her and Tory and basically saying the same that he ain’t picking sides between Durk and YB,” Akademiks added. “I can respect that. That N*gga bout his MONEY.. he ain’t sign up to be no warrior in a gang.. that N*gga would do a album w Durk or YB.”

Hopefully, all parties involved can find an amicable solution to the building animosity. Have You heard DaBaby and NBA YoungBoy’s latest album? Check out the tracklist below.
