Wookie releases single and discusses lessons learned from Future and Casino

Explosive local Atl star Lil Wookie has been cementing his place in Atlanta’s hip-hop scene. The popular Freebandz affiliate was tapped to lead the next generation of Future’s globally successful label by his brother and CEO,  Casino. He’s been on the motivated Wookie to go harder for his dreams and his family. Wookie is back with a catchy new single and visual, “2 Real” which samples Plies and is produced by SquashBangers. 

Discovered by Casino, Wookie has been immersed in Atlanta’s hip-hop culture since his early childhood. When he was little, Wookie would overhear his uncle Lil Bo (of the legendary Atlanta rap group The Eastside Boyz) and Lil Jon preparing their rhymes. These moments inspired Wookie to rap. Wookie’s dad soon discovered his son’s ability to rap and encouraged him to write his own raps.

Rapping became Wookie’s life path, and he would even sneak out of the house on school nights to perform at nightclubs, all in pursuit of his dreams. When Freebandz Casino realized how Wookie was serious about rap,  he immediately embraced him professionally. Casino has been his mentor to this day.

Wookie’s music has a raw sound with a gritty cadence. He possesses a unique skill set among today’s rappers, as he is capable of writing lyrics, freestyling, and using the “punch-in” method. 

Due to his distinctive abilities, Wookie’s wordplay is frequently quoted on Genius.com. His lyrics range from fun, upbeat vibes to serious street tales, showcasing his versatility. In an era of payola and bots, Wookie has amassed over 5 million organic streams before releasing an EP, LP, or album.

Rich Homie Quan's Family Releases an Official Statement

Rich Homie Quan’s cause of death has been determined as an accidental drug overdose, according to a report from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The report, obtained by PEOPLE, revealed that a toxic mix of drugs, including fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, promethazine, and THC, was found in Quan’s system at the time of his death. There were no signs of trauma, and his death was officially ruled as an accident.

The 33-year-old rapper, whose real name was Dequantes Lamar, tragically passed away on September 5, 2024. An autopsy was conducted the following day to confirm the cause. He was laid to rest during a funeral service held in his hometown of Atlanta on Sept.17.

Rich Homie Quan’s energy and contribution to Hip-Hop music will not fade anytime soon, especially with the release of his emotional new video, “Song Cry.”

Quan was already filming this video when he died, so the video, which dropped yesterday, mixes pre-recorded footage with clips from his funeral. The visual celebrates the life of the Atlanta legend and includes other Hip hop celebs, such as Boosie and D.C. Young Fly, who are celebrating life along with RHQ in his last moments.

Scenes from the funeral, like when the white doves were released, will definitely be tearjerkers for anyone who is a fan of the late “Some Type Of Way” rapper.

Quan died just one month before his 35th birthday at home with his girlfriend resent. His cause of death has not yet been revealed.

The new project was two years in the making and comes at the culmination of a breakthrough summer for Richman, following his record breaking success with dance-rooted viral hits “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” and “DEVIL IS A LIE,” along with a late-night TV debut performance of “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and a run of sold-out live shows in D.C., New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

ommy gave fans their first glimpse into the world that inspired this monumental album with the release of his downtempo heartstring-pulling alt-R&B ballad, “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE,” followed by last week’s release of the irresistibly funky and soulful pop anthem “WHITNEY.” 

“COYOTE was a concept that I came up with about two years ago while I was making ALLIGATOR. This is the 2nd installment of the animal trilogy. It’s a story that tells the tale of mental illness, representing itself in the form of a wild coyote in the outskirts of Beatty, Nevada,” says Tommy. 

COYOTE comes as Tommy Richman’s debut album following the record-breaking star being signed to fellow DMV-native Brent Faiyaz’s label, ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The LP contains songs that began years ago when Tommy was broke and lonely but confident in his art. In early 2024, he finalized these sketches and ideas in the desert. The rugged terrain and big skies inspired Tommy, who sees COYOTE as a thematic follow-up to his 2022 E.P., ALLIGATOR, and the second installment of his ANIMAL Trilogy.

Kurious Shares “Barry Gibb” Off MF DOOM Executive Produced Album

NYC rapper Kurious, has shared today the third track off his forthcoming album Majician, titled “Barry Gibb”. The song and album were executive produced by his longtime friend and collaborator MF DOOM before his passing and produced by Mono En Stereo. 

On the instantly classic track, Kurious shares “I don’t know if the lyrics relate to this so much, but Barry Gibb from the BeeGees is one of my favorite artists. And, I wrote this song around the time he lost his last brother. He has three brothers and lost all three of them. And, (when he lost his last brother), I was writing like crazy. And, back when they were saying “Disco is dead”, he was writing for Kenny Roger, Dolly Parton, and fucking Michael Jackson. He’s writing for mad people and nobody really knows. I felt like that too. I’m writing a lot for myself and for other people. So, it was just a homage…a salute to him.”

His new album, Majician – also the nickname his peers blessed him with a generation ago, is due out October 18th on Metalface Records and Rhymesayers Entertainment.  It’s a mesmerizing blend of technical wizardry and personal introspection that substantiates the legacy he’s long deserved. GloRilla Announces Debut Album ‘GLORIOUS’, Drops “Hollon” Track

GRAMMY-nominated artist GloRilla has raised the bar once again by dropping a huge announcement: her debut album GLORIOUS is set to arrive on October 11. The studio album comes after Big Glo trailblazed her way through the music industry with infectious hit records and high-profile collaborations that have won fans over around the globe. Fans who pre-order the album will get two instant gratification tracks, “Hollon” and her summer smash “TGIF.”

In addition to the album announcement, the 25-year-old has given fans a surprise by releasing “Hollon” as her latest single. The track has been teased several times on social media and went viral with fans who couldn’t get enough of the song by recording their own videos to it. “Hollon” is another banger from the CMG product as she weaves through the speaker-rattling production and dishes out fierce bars about how she handles her business with her collective of fierce women. “H*e, you must not know what you just started (da f*ck) / Me and my b*tches go gnarley / Give a f*ck about this party / We gone step on sh*t regardless (stamp dat),” Glo states triumphantly to open the track.
