As far as New Artists On The Rise go, Kyla Imani, former Gen Z host for The Source Report and thesource.com, started 2022 with “BIG PLANS.” The name of her single holds true to her year as she will take the stage in Austin, Texas as an official SXSW 2022 artist. Kyla Imani will be on hand for the weekend of March 16 to March 20, infusing the city and festival with her brand of music, which is skyrocketing her into superstardom one stage at a time.

One of the stages Kyla Imani will be featured on is the Futuristic Femme Showcase, appearing alongside Omeretta The Great, Nezi Momodu, Santana Fox, and Keora.

Imani’s latest hard-hitting single, “BIG PLANS,” has caught the attention of Tunecore, who made her New Music Friday featured artist for 01/21/2022.

With over 1.5 million followers on TikTok and music as her brand’s signature, Kyla Imani is looking to bet on herself this year. Kyla has secured major sponsorship campaigns with companies like Adobe, L’Oreal, Ulta-Beauty, Grub Hub, Hype Bae, and Footlocker while also producing her music and working with media brands such as BeatStars (where she is co-creator of “The Hook” by Kyla Imani) and The Source Magazine, ushering in a fresh and new generation to the iconic media brand. This year, she has taken a leave of absence from the famed Tisch School of the Arts at NYU to pursue being a full-time content creator, songwriter, and music artist.

Last year was a significant artist development year for Kyla Imani, as she dropped several independent singles, including singles: “These Boys Ain’t It” and the “TrackStar: Let Him Hurt” remix, which became a TikTok anthem going viral and had young ladies all across the globe clapping back on the dating and heart-breaking games there dudes (or boys) play in a relationship — as she became a voice for the witty clap backs. Check and subscribe to her growing YouTube channel to hear more of her songs.

Keep up with Kyla Imani’s moves across SXSW and in the future on her Instagram.

There’s a 1Take over going on right now in Los Angeles.

Just like 1TakeJay did a few weeks ago, 1TakeBoyz’s 1TakeQuan follows suit with a new project of his own, sharing the new mixtape Back 2 Back, which he accessorized with a new music video for the project’s first single, “Love Talk.” The tape and music video arrives on top of the viral wave Quan is riding right now due to the popularity of his latest track, “Single.”

MORE: 1TakeJay Drops ‘The Morning After’ Mixtape with New Music Video “The Pay Back”

With a runtime of 34 minutes, the 12-song collection spot 1TakeQuan collab with buzzing artists Big Hube, Tyler J, Chxnk, and, of course, the usual suspects Rucci and 1TakeBoyz. Along with “Single” and “Love Talk,” the project includes breakout songs “Chitlins,” “Bubble Coat” and “I’m Tripping.” Known for his playboy antics, Quan shows a different side of him in the music we rarely hear from a member of the rowdy crew.

On “Love Talk,” featuring 1TakeOcho and Tyler J, 1TakeQuan is an office manager seducing his co-worker as she flaunts around in lingerie, showering the recording artist with money. Ocho and Tyler enjoy bedroom rendezvous with beauties of their own while they rap hypnotizing verses of enticing persuasion. The video is directed by CreatedByBlu.

Back 2 Back is 1TakeQuan’s fourth mixtape. Breakin through in 2016, outside 1TakeBoyz music, Quan is best known for his 2019 collaboration with Roc Nation’s Kalan Frfr, “Freak,” the same year Quan drops his debut mixtape, Quebaall. Today, 1TakeQuan’s uncensored energy, unique rugged tone & unforgettable performance style has earned him the moniker of “ultimate ratchet” in the group.

Man Like Devin comes in like a man on fire with a hook that lifts your spirits and gets you as lifted as the topic of the record. Dizzy instantly delivers with a standout verse off rip in singing the plant’s praises, praising healing and recreational components as well while commenting poignantly on the hypocritical nature of anyone continuing to do time for charges related to Mary.

“Promoter” also packs a feature from Cypress Hill frontman and living legend B-Real who literally does what he always does in the best possible way.  The DJ Hoppa (co-prod. By Puda & Soy is Real) produced cut is more proof that Dizzy Wright is back in a big way; light all the way up and catch a vibe below:

Jack Harlow Teases Potential SZA Collab with Post & Delete

jack harlow via twitter

Does Jack Harlow & SZA have a collaboration in the works?

The Kentucky native sure put some sauce on the speculation last week when he posts eda picture of he and SZA on Instagram. The picture remained on his page for a short period of time before the 23-year-old rapper deleted it. In an era where screenshots run rapid, at least a handful of people were going to catch the image of the TDE songstress and the Generation Now rapper

Since his breakout year in 2020, Jack Harlow has released a number of singles including his most recent with Yung Miami entitled, “Nail Tech.” The song received a co-sign from Ye, leading to Harlow’s cameo on DONDA 2 on a song entitled, “Louis Bags.”

On the other hand, fans are expecting SZA’s highly anticipated sophomore release this year after her critically acclaimed 2017 debut, CTRL.

Was Jack supposed to reveal this alleged link up? Based on his reaction, one can assume he was not. No matter the result of the image, both artists have projects in the works with the possibility of a 2022 release date.

Comment your thoughts on how a Jack Harlow and SZA collab would sound.

unnamed 8

The estate of King Von teams up with Only The Family and EMPIRE to create What It Means To Be King, a tribute to Von’s legacy. What It Means To Be King is a labor of love that gathers previously unreleased songs from the artist’s output. It’s packed with the fiery bars and riveting storylines that have gained him a devoted following, but it also hints at some of the routes he may have explored if he had more time. Many of the people who know Von best contributed to the album, including longtime collaborator and producer Chopsquad DJ, his “twin” Lil Durk, and fellow O’Block natives like Boss Top and DqFrmDaO, as well as street rap heroes like 21 Savage, Moneybagg Yo, G Herbo, and others.

Previously, the video for King Von’s recently released track “Don’t Play That” ft. 21 Savage was shared by his estate. “Don’t Play That,” the lead song from Von’s upcoming What It Means To Be King album, set for March 4, collected 1.4 million+ Apple Music streams, 1.2 million+ Spotify streams, and 1.1 million+ YouTube views in just 24 hours after its release.

King Von lives out a wild day of mobbing with his crew and linking up with his lady friend to ride through the city and to the studio before meeting up with 21 Savage and speeding away in a vehicle chase in the song’s animated video. Atop the buzzing Kid Hazel beat, the visual matches Von’s hyperactive delivery and 21 Savage’s sinister deadpan delivery. The video follows this past Friday’s announcement of Von’s upcoming posthumous album What It Means To Be King.
