Kanye Grammys Performance Cancelled Due To “Concerning Online Behavior”

Kanye West

On Friday, March 18, The Blast reported an unconfirmed story that Kanye’s performance at the 2022 Grammys had been pulled. Now, a rep from Ye’s camp has confirmed that Kanye has been pulled from the lineup.

As Variety reports, a source from Ye’s camp confirmed with them that the story is indeed true and Ye will not be performing at this year’s Grammys. The rep apparently sent the link of The Blast‘s article to Variety, saying “This is confirmed.

As the original article states, Ye’s team got the call that he had been pulled on Friday and was forced to make this decision due to West’s “concerning online behavior” as of late. The Blast says that the decision was partially made because Trevor Noah is hosting the awards ceremony and they “worry about the two men’s interactions during the show.”

Last week, Trevor Noah offered his two cents on the Kanye and Kim split. Kanye then took to Instagram where he called Noah a “koon” multiple times in a post. Ye was later banned from IG for 24 hours.

Since Ye’s performance was pulled, many have come out in support of him. The Game even took to IG to show his support for Ye.

“When will all the BLACK entertainers, athletes, actors, producers, writers, directors, media, etc… figure it out,” The Game posted.

Not only was Ye set to perform, but he was nominated for multiple Grammy’s including Album of the Year for DONDA.

Trevor Noah Reacts to Kanye West Being Pulled From Grammys

Kanye West’s Grammy performance has been canceled.

According to Variety, Ye was “barred” from performing at next month’s awards. A rep for the DONDA rapper said that Ye’s team received a phone call Friday night informing him he had been “unfortunately” removed from the lineup of performers due to his “concerning online behavior.”

Ye was never officially announced as a performer. However, he is nominated for five Grammys this year including Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Song.

Taking to Instagram, Ye’s “Eazy” collaborator The Game blasted the Grammys for their decision, which he claims had to do with his controversial comments about Grammys host Trevor Noah. According to The Blast, there was concern about West and Noah’s interaction during the show.

Ye used a racial slur against Noah in a since-deleted Instagram post after the “Daily Show” host commented on his “harassment” of Kim Kardashian, resulting in a 24-hour suspension from Instagram.

“The Grammys have at the last minute decided to pull @kanyewest from performing on the show as if we didn’t know it was coming,” Game wrote. “Could be because @trevornoah is hosting and there was a conversation held amongst his team & the academy that led to the decision or because Ye’s account was suspended just days ago for reasons unknown especially in a world where all the negativities of the world can be found on the same app with no repercussions or suspensions.”

In response to the report, Noah seemingly denied that he wanted Ye yanked from the Grammy lineup and only wanted to see him get help.

“I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye,” he tweeted on Sunday morning.

Prior to this, Noah shared concern for Ye’s well-being. “You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this,” he wrote following Ye’s attack. “I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain.”

Hosted by Noah, the 64th annual Grammy Awards are set to air April 3 from Las Vegas with performances from Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Billie Eilish, BTS, and more.

The Game Claims Kanye West Was Pulled From the Grammys

Kanye West won’t be performing at the Grammys next month.

According to The Game, Ye was scheduled to take the stage at the 64th annual ceremony, but he has been “pulled” from the lineup at the last minute.

In a lengthy post, Ye’s “Eazy” collaborator blasted the Recording Academy for their decision. He claims that the removal may have to do with Ye’s recent comments about Grammys host Trevor Noah or his 24-hour suspension from Instagram.

“The Grammys have at the last minute decided to pull @kanyewest from performing on the show as if we didn’t know it was coming,” Game told his 12 million followers. “Could be because @trevornoah is hosting and there was a conversation held amongst his team & the academy that led to the decision or because Ye’s account was suspended just days ago for reasons unknown especially in a world where all the negativities of the world can be found on the same app with no repercussions or suspensions.”

The Compton rapper claims it’s all part of a larger attempt to “steal the culture” and “not allow you to ever be their equals.” He also says that free speech is under attack.

“We’ll just say it’s all of the above & a continuous disrespect for us & all that we have brought to the table in entertainment, media & sports over the last 100 years especially,” he added. “Speak your mind in this country for yourself, family or your people & you’re ostracized immediately & if you push them hard enough they will stop at no ends to try and put an end to you as a whole.”

During his social media outbursts, Ye took aim at Trevor Noah after the “Daily Show” host spoke out about his “harassment” of Kim Kardashian. Ye changed the lyrics to “Kumbaya” to include a racial slur, which led to Instagram placing a 24-hour ban on his account for violating the platform’s policies on hate speech, bullying, and harassment.

After Ye’s attack, Noah shared his concern for his well-being. “You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this,” he wrote. “I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain.”

In his post, Game touted his own willingness to speak out despite the repercussions. “I for one, have never been scared to speak my mind even understanding what the consequences may be,” he said. “I can’t sleep at night knowing I was quiet about issues burning holes in my heart or narratives incorrectly pushed by the mass agenda to create a mind set that the person at hand is krazy or has issues internally that are beyond repair.”

While defending Ye, he also brought up Colin Kaepernick. “I say all this to say, I’M WOKE….. & while I am.. lemme remind you that Colin Kapernick still isn’t allowed in the NFL, lynching just became a federal hate crime in 2022 & you can now not be discriminated from employment because of the way you decide to wear your hair…”

Added Game, “GEEZ thank you massa for allowing us to slowly progress as a race 100 years at a time after all that was STOLEN from us. I’m sure I’ll be the next account suspended for speaking freely on an app created for us to equally share as humans lol.”

Despite Game’s claim, the Grammys never officially announced Ye as a performer. After being delayed from January, the show is slated to take place April 3 in Las Vegas with performances from Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Billie Eilish, BTS, and more.

Ye is still slated to headline Coachella next month. However, there is a petition circulating online calling for his removal from the festival, with over 15,000 signatures so far.

The Game Says Kanye West Was Removed As A Performer At The Grammys Due To His Actions On Social Media

Earlier this week, Kanye West was suspended from Instagram for 24 hours due to consistent behavior that went against the platform’s rules. This includes constant attacks against Pete Davidson, who’s dating his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, threats against comedian D.L. Hughley, and racist slurs directed at The Daily Show host Trevor Noah. It was these slurs that proved to be the final straw leading to Instagram’s decision to suspend the rapper for a day. It turns out that Kanye’s comments against Trevor may have affected more than just his Instagram presence, it also allegedly got him removed as a performer for the upcoming Grammy Awards.

The what The Game says at least in a recent Instagram post he shared. “Time & time again they show us that they only want to STEAL the culture, not allow you to ever be their equals,” he wrote under the post. “In a more than obvious move for reasons of minuscule actions…. The Grammys have at the last minute decided to pull @kanyewest from performing on the show as if we didn’t know it was coming.”

He added, “Could be because @trevornoah is hosting and there was a conversation held amongst his team & the academy that led to the decision or because Ye’s account was suspended just days ago for reasons unknown especially in a world where all the negativities of the world can be found on the same app with no repercussions or suspensions. We’ll just say it’s all of the above & a continuous disrespect for us & all that we have brought to the table in entertainment, media & sports over the last 100 years especially.”

The Game went on to say that he will always support Kanye’s decision to speak his mind as The Game himself is someone who “can’t sleep at night knowing I was quiet about issues burning holes in my heart.” In the lengthy post, The Game also mentioned Colin Kaepernick’s inability to play in the NFL, lynching just becoming a federal hate crime, and recent legislation that was passed that made it illegal to discriminate someone from employment because of their hairstyle.

It’s unknown if Kanye was actually going to perform at the Grammys and if The Game’s reason is why he was pulled from the show. Nonetheless, the 2022 Grammys Awards will commence on April 3 with performances from BTS, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, and more.

Performing At The 2022 Grammys Are Billie Eilish, BTS, Lil Nas X, And Others

Slowly but surely, this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony is starting to come together. At the top of the year, the event was postponed, and not long after that, organizers revealed the show would be taking place on April 3 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, not its original venue, Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. Now, we’re getting an idea of who’s going to be there: The Recording Academy and CBS revealed some of this year’s performers, a list that so far includes BTS, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow, Brandi Carlile, and Brothers Osbourne.

Those artists have a storied history with the Grammys. Eilish, for instance, won all four major awards at the 2020 show and had a major presence the next year, winning Record Of The Year for “Everything I Wanted,” which she also performed. As for BTS, this is their second year both being nominated for a Grammy and performing at the ceremony. Rodrigo had a huge Grammy year in 2021 as she was nominated for a whopping seven awards, which she called “probably the most meaningful” of her dreams that came true that year.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

How To Watch The 2022 Grammys

In less than a month, the 2022 Grammy Awards will kick off live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It marks the first time in Grammy history that the award show will take place outside of Los Angeles. The 2022 Grammys was originally set to take place on January 31 at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena (formerly known as Staples Center). However, the coronavirus pandemic forced The Recording Academy to push it back to April 3 with the hope that they’ll be in a safer position to have the show. Thankfully, with three weeks left until showtime, that appears to be the case.

How To Watch The 2022 Grammys:

The 2022 Grammys will begin at 8:30 pm EST/5:30 pm PST. The award show will air live on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+. That can be expected to arrive soon as one of the greatest nights in music is just three weeks away.

When Are The 2022 Grammys?

In normal times, the 2022 Grammy Awards would’ve already taken place. We would’ve learned who went home with trophies in the big four categories — Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist. In fact, the number of nominations in each of those categories was increased to ten for the upcoming award show. Furthermore, we would’ve witnessed excellent performances from some of the music industry’s best talents. However, we are not in normal times, and unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic caused the Grammys to be delayed from its usual late-January/early-February date. Thankfully, a new date is locked in and it’s coming soon.

When Are The 2022 Grammys?

The 2022 Grammys will take place on April 3 at 8:30PM EST. The new date also came with a new location for the award show as the Grammys will be hosted from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
