Kendrick Lamar Tops Billboard Canadian Albums Chart With “GNX”

Late last month, Kendrick Lamar surprised fans and critics alike by dropping his new album GNX. Rumors that the Compton rapper had something on the way had been brewing for months, but nonetheless, his supporters were taken off guard. Despite his lack of promotion, the project has already been a huge success. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and sold 319K album-equivalent units in the U.S.

Now, it’s reportedly topped the Billboard Canadian Albums chart as well, per the outlet. He didn’t manage a No. 1 on the Canadian Hot 100, though his songs “Luther” and “Squabble Up” are sitting at second and third, respectively. This is far from the only exciting news about Kendrick, however. Earlier this week, he also announced his upcoming “Grand National” tour with SZA.

The tour is scheduled to begin in April of next year and will see the duo perform at 19 stadiums across North America. This includes a stop at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, which the Blue Jays’ official X account promoted shortly after the announcement. Of course, this resulted in a fair bit of clowning for Drake, as social media users joked that his own city turned against him. During a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God even theorized that Drake could allegedly try to intervene with the performance in some way.

“I don’t think I would make that stop– not because of no street stuff either,” he said. “When you look at how petty Aubrey Graham is, who just filed a petition against UMG because of ‘Not Like Us,’ we know how connected Drake is in Toronto as far as with government officials and who else. They might just make life difficult for Kendrick on that level. Forget the street stuff. I’m talking about being detained. You can’t even trust people at the airport. Who can you really trust in Toronto?

Andrew Schulz Accuses Kendrick Lamar Of Using Him For Clout After “GNX” Diss

Last month, Kendrick Lamar took fans by surprise by unleashing his new album GNX with zero notice. Immediately, listeners got to work picking apart the lyrics of each song, including “wacced out murals.” On it, Kendrick calls out an unnamed white comedian for making jokes about Black women, leaving fans to speculate. “Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that’s law,” he raps.

Right away, many began to theorize that this bar was aimed at Andrew Schulz, who received backlash for perpetuating negative stereotypes about Black women on his Flagrant podcast in October. Shortly after the album dropped, DJ Akademiks claimed he reached out to Schulz about the line. Allegedly, he responded to it by asking “Is this guy too woke to understand a joke?” Now, Schulz has addressed the line directly on an episode of his podcast, making it clear that he doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong.

Andrew Schulz Thinks Kendrick Lamar Is Being Hypocritical

In a clip from the episode, Schulz sarcastically states that “nobody has respected women more through art than rappers,” suggesting that Kendrick’s line was hypocritical. He goes on to bring up Kendrick’s previous support of alleged abusers such as Chris Brown, arguing that the rapper is worried about protecting Black women from the wrong people. Schulz even speculated that Kendrick’s apparent call-out was only for clout. “What a time to be alive where rappers gotta talk about comedians for clout … You’re welcome, how many views did I give him?” he wondered.

For obvious reasons, Schulz’s remarks have earned mixed reactions from other X users. While some think he’s onto something, many are seriously questioning his suggestion that Kendrick was trying to use him for clout. After all, Kendrick didn’t even say Schulz’s name. For this reason, it’s still unconfirmed whether or not he was actually referring to him. “One sentence got this man fuming,” one X user writes. “He cooked,” someone else claims.

Ben Baller Claims Kendrick Lamar’s New Album “GNX” Is Full Of Skips

Ben Baller is one of the most famous jewelers in hip hop. He had made chains and various pieces for some of the biggest rappers in the game. He is not, however, here for the current biggest rapper in the game. Ben Baller discussed Kendrick Lamar’s new album GNX on his podcast Cold As Ice with Ben Baller and JimmyBoi. The jeweler is Los Angeles based, and Lamar’s album is steeped in L.A. culture, but he did not care for it. Not even a little bit. Baller went as far as to say that he skipped every single track.

“I’ma keep it all the way a buck,” Ben Baller told his co-host. “I skipped every song, dog. I just can’t.” The jeweler made it clear that his disdain for GNX had nothing to do with the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar feud. Baller is not choosing sides in the battle, he simply couldn’t get with Lamar’s new song. “It’s got nothing to do with f*cking Drake,” he asserted. “Don’t care. I won’t even talk about the lawsuit, I don’t wanna get into that part.” Ben Baller’s take has been met with scorn across the internet. Many accused him of not being part of hip hop culture. Others posited that he should support a fellow California creator.

Ben Baller Previously Designed Dot’s “Pop Out” Chain

Ben Baller’s negative opinion of GNX is a bit surprising, given his recent history with Kendrick Lamar. He designed the $60K cross that Kendrick Lamar wore during his iconic “Pop Out” concert on Juneteenth. He even hyped up the rapper via social media. “LA went crazy tonight,” Baller tweeted. “And Dot had my ice around his neck all night. $600K cross shuts it down. Nobody better and he knew who to call.” In an Instagram post, Ben Baller praised Lamar for putting together the “biggest” show in L.A.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” concert was dedicated to bashing Drake, as evidenced by the multiple performances of the diss song “Not Like Us.” Ben Baller’s promotion of the event supports his latest statement regarding a lack of favoritism. He clearly isn’t team Drizzy. He just wanted a better batch of songs from Kung Fu Kenny, it seems. The jeweler did keep it all the way a buck.

Top5 Reacts To Kendrick Lamar Performing In Canada With An Absurd Take

On June 12, Kendrick Lamar will be performing GNX in Toronto, Canada at the Rogers Centre with SZA alongside him. When that day eventually arrives, it’s going to be very interesting what sort of developments come out of that for obvious reasons. However, the juicy side stories are already rolling out today just hours after Lamar announced the Grand National Tour. Top5, a local Canadian rapper who’s been team Drake all the way, has recently reacted to this grand reveal. He’s made it abundantly clear how much he despises Lamar, and you could argue he might dislike him just as much as The Boy. His opinions on the Compton MC are almost always against the grain and this one is no different.

This Grand National trek is a stadium tour. Therefore, it’s going to require a lot of security, perhaps medical personnel, and other forms of support. It’s an essential thing for every concert venue to have, no matter how big or small the artist is. So, with that in mind, this take from Top5 will assuredly drive you nuts. He feels that he will start to have some respect for Kendrick Lamar if he doesn’t have any sort of protection.

Top5 Gets Roasted Over An Open Flame For His Kendrick Lamar Tweet

Writing on an Instagram Story post, he says, “I’ll respect him if he comes with no police escort… 🤐” The internet has been quick to point out how asinine that request is. “Bro it’s not a small show it’s a f***ing stadium🤣🤣🤣 people are so ret****d,” one X user replies. “Meanwhile drake got the Canadian military at his house😂” another points out.

At this point, it’s a little difficult to take what Top5 says seriously, especially with how much he backs Drake. Kendrick supporters also made that a point of observation in their roast session. “DIS MF AINT GON DO S*** 😭😭 & HE KNOW DRAKE NEVER GON FEAT. HIM ON A ALBUM LIKE KENDRICK DID TO HIS HOMIES.” It’s going to be a major talking point next summer and this tour date couldn’t come any sooner.

50 Cent Playfully Trolls Tony Yayo While Throwing Shade At Drake

50 Cent poked fun at Tony Yayo in a new video on Instagram, trolling him during a recent trip on a private jet. In a clip captioned, “My life behind the scenes,” 50 catches Yayo listening to music on his headphones. “You get a pass if you listening to Kendrick sh*t,” 50 said. After pulling off Yayo’s headphones, he joked: “N***a, that’s Drake. That’s Drake you got in there.”

Fans in the comments section have been loving 50’s post. “Yayo the only man allowed to shout back at 50 cent,” one user joked with laughing emojis. Another celebrated 50’s legacy. “I used to not like you just because I was naive and from The west coast and the game dissed you. As I got older I realize you were the true OG and have done way more than game as ever done in his career. You a definition of a true OG,” they wrote.

The Drake trolling is surprising from 50, considering he’s previously defended the Toronto rapper in his feud against Kendrick Lamar. “I was telling him, it’s not him,” 50 Cent recalled during an interview with Billboard. “I’m listening on the outskirts, it’s not you. Don’t let yourself think that for a second. On some real sh*t, I said, ‘They said you lost, okay. Well what did you lose?’ What exactly did he lose if he got $300 something million on his last tour? You didn’t lose a motherf**king thing, man.”

Kendrick Lamar Announces “Grand National” Tour With SZA

Kendrick Lamar just dropped off the album GNX which has proven to be a massive success beyond the hopes of what fans were expecting. Overall, this album has gone number one on Billboard and continues to be in rotation for listeners. The album contains bangers that will be played at the Super Bowl. Moreover, it appears as though Kendrick isn’t done working this project, as he just announced a tour with SZA on his Twitter page, just moments ago. It is called the “Grand National” tour and it will begin on April 19th in Minneapolis.

The tour goes all the way until June, and as you can imagine, this is going to be a Stadium tour. Overall, Kendrick and SZA are two of the biggest names in their respective genres. Consequently, it only makes sense that these two would end up getting a Stadium tour together. This promises to be the biggest tour of 2025, and it could not come at a better time. However, this does bring into question whether or not Lamar truly does have another album on the way.

Adam22 Compares Kendrick Lamar To Donald Trump With Their “Cult” Fanbases

Adam22 says that Kendrick Lamar and his passionate followers remind him of Donald Trump. He explained his reasoning during the latest episode of The Adam22 & Wack100 Show for No Jumper. He suggested that Lamar’s fans are just as delusional in their bias as supporters of the incumbent president.

“Donald Trump’s fanbase is kind of like a cult because no matter what Donald Trump does, they never find fault with it,” Adam said. “He could do things that, were they done by the Democrats, everybody would be able to agree that they’re wrong. But here’s the thing, now we have Kendrick’s super fans, who are telling us that, ‘actually, buying plays and payola is totally fine.’”

Fans on social media have been having mixed responses to the opinion. “Nah he’s so right, they are hypocrites just like their lord and saviour Kendrick it’s actually insane,” one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote. Another countered: “Drake has always used bots … please stop posting about this cuck. He is what is wrong with the hip hop community in the first place.”

Adam22 Compares Kendrick Lamar To Donald Trump

Drake accused Universal Music Group of allegedly using bots and payola to artificially boost the success of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” in a legal filing, last month. He also accused the company of defamation. UMG denied all of the allegations as “offensive and untrue.” That lawsuit came as Kendrick Lamar released his new album, GNX. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Songs from the project also hold all five of the top spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Check out Adam22’s full comments on Kendrick Lamar below.

Kendrick Lamar Blocks Shaboozey From Breaking An All-Time Hot 100 Record As A New ‘GNX’ Song Debuts At No. 1

Kendrick Lamar GNX video
YouTube

For the past few weeks now, all eyes have been on Shaboozey and “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” to see if the track would beat the all-time record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. As of last week, Shaboozey tied the high mark of 19 weeks set by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road.” One more week and Shaboozey owns the record outright, with the first song to hit 20 weeks at No. 1.

Well, that’s not happening this week.

On the new Hot 100 chart dated December 7, Kendrick Lamar’s new album GNX dominates. Lamar has 7 of this week’s top 10 songs, including “Squabble Up” at No. 1, which is Lamar’s fifth chart-topper and his third of just 2024. As for “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” it has been pushed all the way down to No. 6.

That said, this doesn’t mean “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is finished its No. 1 run. This is actually the third time the track has been replaced in the top spot: Lamar’s “Not Like Us” took over for a week in July, then Morgan Wallen’s “Love Somebody” had a week on top in November before Shaboozey reclaimed his spot. So, if listening activity on Lamar’s new album dies down after its opening week, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” could make yet another return to No. 1 and set a new all-time high.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Squabble Up” Leads A Dominate Debut For “GNX” On The Billboard Hot 100

Kendrick Lamar’s new song, “squabble up,” has debuted at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with several of his GNX tracks right below it. Rounding out the top five on the chart are “tv off,” “luther,” “wacced out murals,” and “hey now.” Also in the top ten are “reincarnated” and “man at the garden.” Overall, GNX landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart having moved over 300,000 album equivalent units.

The success of the project comes despite it being a surprise release for the “Not Like Us” rapper. Instead of running a lengthy promotional campaign for the project, he let the virality of his feud with Drake build up the hype. He addresses that beef at several points on the project.

Even DJ Akademiks praised Kendrick Lamar for the success of his new album. “I think it’s a decent number,” he said on a recent livestream. “It’s definitely a good number for Kendrick. And I understand that there’s a bunch of Drake fans here and Kendrick fans here who want to compete and compare these two. There is no comparison. I keep trying to tell you: Kendrick could die 15 deaths, he doesn’t compete with Drake overall for streaming.” He then described GNX as a “stellar” release for him.

Kendrick Lamar Dominates The Billboard Hot 100

Looking ahead, Lamar will be headlining the halftime show of Super Bowl LIX in February. He’ll likely perform several songs off of GNX at the event. He’s yet to officially confirm if he’ll be going on tour after the show. Check out the full top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 below.

DJ Akademiks Brings Kendrick Lamar Back Down To Earth After “GNX’s” Massive Billboard 200 Debut

DJ Akademiks has responded to Kendrick Lamar’s new album, GNX, selling 319,000 equivalent album units in its first week of availability. Discussing the success of the project during one of his streams on Sunday night, Akademiks, who has been a passionate supporter of Lamar’s rival, Drake, began by congratulating him for landing at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

“I think it’s a decent number,” he said.

Akademiks also brought up the songs “squabble up,” “tv off,” “luther,” “wacced out murals,” and “hey now” all taking up the top five spots on the Billboard Hot 100. To put the success in perspective, Ak also noted that Drake has remained one of the most-streamed artists of the year despite not putting out an entire body of work. “It’s not fair to bring Kendrick up in like a streaming and data conversation,” he remarked, before noting that he’s closer to Future’s level than Drake’s.

DJ Akademiks Discusses Kendrick Lamar’s New Album

Lamar’s streaming numbers are noteworthy considering Drake’s bombshell lawsuits against Universal Music Group, in which he accuses the company of allegedly artificially boosting the streams of “Not Like Us.” Drake filed the petitions in New York and Texas, while also accusing UMG of defamation. UMG has already denied the allegations. Check out DJ Akademiks’ full response to GNX’s album sales below.
