Glastonbury Festival Headliners: SZA, Coldplay, And Dua Lipa To Perform In June

It might still be chilly where you live, but as we push through the final week of winter, it’s hard to deny the liveliness of spring that’s in the air. With the warmest months of the year in the northern hemisphere right around the corner, music lovers are growing increasingly excited for another season full of live outdoor performances from the biggest names in music. Americans tend to check out Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Governor’s Ball if they want to avoid travelling too far. Meanwhile, one of the UK’s biggest events of the year, Glastonbury Festival has a seriously stacked lineup that’s drawing in more passport-friendly crowds.

The annual bash is taking place from June 26-30 at Worthy Farm, Pilton. The stacked list of performers have already been divided up into different areas; at Woodsies you’ll find DJ Jamie XX, James Blake, Sampha, Soccer Mommy, and others. Over at West Holts, Jungle, Masego, Black Pumas, and Noname will all be holding it down during their sets. The second-largest category, Other, holds Disclosure, Two Door Cinema Club, Avril Lavigne, and Headie One. Finally, Pyramid reveals out 2024 Glastonbury headliners, which include Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and Canadian country starlet Shania Twain.

SZA will also be closing out the festival one night, and based on today’s (March 14) Instagram Story post, she seems excited. “This bout to be ins*ne,” the “Drew Barrymore” hitmaker wrote. Other noteworthy acts in Pyramid at Glastonbury are Burna Boy, Janelle Monae, and Ayra Starr.

After shaking up the industry with SOS in late 2022, SZA spent much of last year on the road touring her sophomore LP. Over the past few months, she’s been hinting at a deluxe edition of the project called Lana, which is apparently “bout to drop.” Read the latest from the TDE songstress on that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

How To Buy Tickets For Glastonbury Festival 2024

As of right now, tickets for Glastonbury Festival are sold out — and have been for a while. When the tickets went up for sale back in November, music lovers snapped them up within minutes.

“Our thanks to everyone who bought one and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out, on a morning when demand greatly exceeded supply,” the festival informed shortly after, according to The Standard.

However, there is still some hope. Some ticket buyers might not be able to afford it and cancel their tickets when they are set to be charged next month. If this happens, any returned tickets will go back up for sale. Only those who registered before the sale starts will be able to purchase, as Glastonbury is trying to prevent scammers.

Additional information about getting tickets for Glastonbury 2024 can be found on the festival’s website.

The Cost Of Kendrick Lamar’s Glastonbury Outfit, Crown Of Thorns Included, Was Apparently In The Millions

Kendrick Lamar made a splash at Glastonbury last weekend by showing up in a crown of thorns, presumably the same one he wore for the Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers album cover, for his performance. It’s a fancy piece of headwear and it turns out it was part of an overall pretty expensive outfit.

In a video from Glastonbury that’s been making the rounds, Lamar is asked how much the outfit costs and he deflects, saying, “I don’t even know, this sh*t ain’t even out yet. But it’s LV, though.” The interviewer then asks more specifically about the cost of the crown and one of Lamar’s associates chimes in, “Three.” The interviewer responds, “Three what?” The associate clarifies, “Three million,” and the interviewer’s excited reaction to that news got a big laugh out of Lamar.

Vogue previously noted the “custom titanium and pavé diamond crown is a collaboration between the rapper, his longtime creative collaborator Dave Free, and the jeweler Tiffany & Co.” that was “designed over the course of 10 months” and features “8,000 cobblestone micro pavé diamonds totaling more than 137 carats, and weighs around 200g.” It also apparently took “more than 1,300 hours of work by four craftsman to handset the diamonds.” The value of the crown was previously estimated at around $200,000.

Megan Thee Stallion and Kendrick Lamar Speak Against Overturning of Roe V. Wade at Glastonbury Festival

The 2022 Glastonbury Festival occurred over the weekend and featured performances from Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion. Both stars took a moment to speak out against the Supreme Court overturning Roe V. Wade.

Thee Stallion would state her home state of Texas is embarrassing her and spoke on behalf of her fans. “I wanna have it on the records, that the hot boys and hot girls do not support this bullshit that y’all campaigning for.”

She would also start the chant, “My body, my motherfucking choice.”

During his time on stage, Kendrick Lamar said to the crowd, “They judge you, they judged Christ. Godspeed for women’s rights.”

Kendrick Lamar Chants For Women’s Rights While Bleeding From A Crown Of Thorns At His Glastonbury Performance

Kendrick Lamar takes his performances very seriously, especially the visual aspect and what it conveys. At this weekend’s Glastonbury Festival in England, the Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers artist perhaps made his biggest statement yet, assuming the role of Jesus Christ by sporting a diamond crown of thorns and alluding to the recent Roe v. Wade decision.

The DAMN rapper repeatedly exclaims “They judge you, they judge Christ, Godspeed for women’s rights” as blood pours out from his crown of thorns. His voice crescendoes as he says the phrase over and over before aggressively dropping the microphone and leaving the stage as his backup dancers pose statically.

This display is major for such a controversial decision, especially coming from a rapper who spent his last album humanizing himself after years of being placed on a pedestal due to social activism and messaging. Regardless of his standing, Kendrick Lamar has always been an advocate for the things he believes in even if the majority of people disagree, like his support of XXXTentacion or aligning with Kodak Black on Mr. Morale, for example. With a platform like his, this will send a message through the United States despite it being done overseas.
