HBO Reveals “Hedge Knight” Game Of Thrones Spin-Off

HBO executives announced a lot at their investor showcase on April 12. HBO Max is becoming Max. There’s a Harry Potter series in the works that’s going to last a decade. There’s a lot going on over at the HBO subsidiary of Warner Bros. This will also help bridge the impending transitionary period, as Succession nears its end.

But among the chaos, and despite more seasons of House Of The Dragon in production, it seems like HBO isn’t done with their Game of Thrones prize pig. Among the various projects announced at the showcase was the official announcement of The Hedge Knight. The show will serve as another Game of Thrones prequel.

“The Hedge Knight” Rewards Die-Hard “Game Of Thrones” Fans

The Hedge Knight, or A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, is based on a series of Game Of Thrones prequel novels. George R.R. Martin called his books Dunk And Egg, with three books in the sries. Set 90 years before the events of A Song Of Ice And Fire, followed the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon Targaryen. Aegon aka Aegon V aka Aegon the Unlikely aka Egg, is Daenerys’ grandfather, in case you were wondering where the characters you are more familiar with fit into the timeline. We have also met Aegon’s brother, Aemon. He’s the maester that Sam Tarly apprentices under. However, the show will be set at a time when Aegon is still unlikely to ever assume the throne.

The official release about The Hedge Knight pitches the show as starring “two unlikely heroes. A young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.” Little is known about its production, but Martin will write and produce. With The Hedge Knight very early in production, expect more details in the coming months. Expect dragons, Targaryen shenanigans, and just a little bit of buddy comedy vibes.

Game of Thrones series are continuing to roll out. According to Variety, HBO is hunting a new series that would detail Aegon I Targaryen’s Westeros conquest.

Details of the forthcoming series are pretty slim as the show is in the very early stages and could add in a feature film that would introduce the new series.

The story would follow how Aegon and his sister-wives Visenya and Raeyns conquered six of the seven kingdoms, 300 years prior to the events of the original Game of Thrones series.

HBO did not offer a comment on the forthcoming series.

It’s been nearly four years since the finale of Games Of Thrones. The HBO Max original series and its spin-off prequel House Of The Dragon were considered by many TV enthusiasts to be required viewing. In fact, Games Of Thrones‘ lead actress Emilia Clarke is often flooded with love from fans across social media to this day for her role as Daenerys Targaryen. However, after meeting with one super fan, lovers of the show are losing their minds.

Rap icon, entrepreneur, and GOT super fan Snoop Dogg and the actress finally met in person. As the two spoke, he opened by showering Clarke with praise. “You’re an amazing actress, beautiful spirit. You’re so believable,” Snoop said.

But he just couldn’t stop himself from adding, “I would protect your eggs any day,” showing his dedication to the show.

Overjoyed by the compliments and dedication, Clark shouted, “Yes!” She then asked, “Can I get that in writing?”

Elsewhere, he shared that the final laps of Equalizer were the most relaxing, and he was able to catch up on some quality sleep.

According to Variety, episode 2 of House of the Dragon had a 2% jump in viewership. The show received an early renewal from HBO this past Friday, guaranteeing season two after 20 million people watched the premiere. Now, that number is headed to 25 million.

House of the Dragon has yet to reach the heights of Game of Thrones Season 8, which pulled in 17.9 million in the premiere episode of the last season and 10.3 million in the second episode but has easily surpassed other shows on the network.

Martin’s 2018 book “Fire & Blood,” House of the Dragon is a fantasy series that chronicles the history of House Targaryen and is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. House of the Dragons is an instant smash. The prequel to HBO’s uber-popular series Game of Thrones premiered on Sunday and nearly drew 10 million viewers for episode 1.

According to Variety, House of the Dragons brought in 9.99 million viewers on HBO and HBO Max when it premiered this past weekend. The combined number includes linear airings and streams during premiere night.

House of the Dragon debut is also the largest audience in HBO’s history, including pre-streaming era shows. In comparison, Game of Thrones premiered to an audience of 4.2 million in 2011.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 book “Fire & Blood,” House of the Dragon is a fantasy series that chronicles the history of House Targaryen and is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The series stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans.

Most engagement announcements are, let’s face it, pretty corny, but Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly aren’t most couples. In early 2022, the Jennifer’s Body actress shared the happy news that she and the “emo girl” singer are getting married with a post on Instagram that ended with, “And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes… and then we drank each other’s blood.”

Fox was asked about the Billy and Angelina-like blood drinking in a recent interview with Glamour UK. “Yeah. So, I guess to drink each other’s blood might mislead people or people are imagining us with goblets and we’re like Game of Thrones, drinking each other’s blood,” she said while laughing. “It’s just a few drops, but yes, we do consume each other’s blood on occasion for ritual purposes only.” It’s medicinal blood.

Fox continued:

“I’m much more controlled. I read tarot cards and I’m into astrology and I’m doing all these metaphysical practices and meditations. And I do rituals on new moons and full moons, and all these things. And so, when I do it, it’s a passage or it is used for a reason. And it is controlled where it’s like, ‘Let’s shed a few drops of blood and each drink it.’ He’s much more haphazard and hectic and chaotic, where he’s willing to just cut his chest open with broken glass and be like, ‘Take my soul.’ … Let me tell you. Maybe not exactly like that, but a version of that has happened many times.”
