The Atlanta Falcons have interviewed two of the biggest names on the head coaching market – Jim Harbaugh and Bill Belichick. Harbaugh, currently head coach at the University of Michigan, is widely expected to make the jump back to the NFL after winning a National Championship with the Wolverines. He has already been interviewed by the Chargers and is expected to meet with a few more teams. Previously, Harbaugh coached the Niners for four seasons, reaching the NFC Championship game three times and losing a Super Bowl to his brother. However, he was ousted after an 8-8 season.

Meanwhile, Belichick is on the market after parting ways with the Patriots last week. It’s the first time that the legendary coach has been a free agent since 2000 when he joined New England. The Falcons are believed to be the first team to meet with Belichick. It’s unclear if any more coaching vacancies will arise after the first round of the playoffs. The shock losses by the Cowboys and Eagles have raised questions about whether the teams will look to replace their head coaches. Both coaches are meeting with their respective owners this week.

Falcons Look To Reset

The Falcons fired third-year head coach Arthur Smith after a trio of 7-10 seasons. The team has missed the playoffs every year since 2017, the same year that they last had a winning record. The team is expected to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick in the draft later this year (No. 8). Depending on how fierce the drafting of QBs is, the Falcons could land National Champion J.J. McCarthy or Heisman winner Jayden Daniels.

However, the Falcons need major upgrades across the field. The team has interviewed six other candidates other than Harbaugh and Belichick. So far, the Falcons have met Ravens DC Mike Macdonald, Niners DC Steve Wilks, Panthers DC Ejiro Devero, Bengals OC, Brian Callahan, and Ravens associate head coach Anthony Weaver. There is currently no timetable for the Falcons to choose a new coach.

Eminem was in attendance during the Detroit Lions’ first playoff win in 32 years on Sunday night. The team advanced through the wild card round of the playoffs with a 24-23 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The quarterbacks for both teams were traded for one another back in 2021.

Eminem asked the Lions’ former quarterback to let his old team get the win in a video posted to NBC’s Sunday Night Football social pages on Saturday. “Stafford, what’d I say? Chargers To Interview Jim Harbaugh

The Los Angeles Chargers are the first team to schedule an interview with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for their head coaching vacancy. The Chargers are one of six teams with coaching vacancies after firing third-year head coach Brandon Staley on December 15. Harbaugh ended his playing career with the Chargers, making 17 starts over the 1999 and 2000 seasons. If hired, Harbaugh would be the first Chargers head coach to come from the college landscape since Mike Riley came over from Oregon State in 1999.

Harbaugh has served as Michigan’s head coach since 2015 and led the Wolverines to a National Championship earlier this month. While most of Harbaugh’s coaching experience is mostly at the college level, he did serve as the 49ers head coach for four seasons. He led the Niners to a Super Bowl appearance and NFC title games in three of his four seasons. However, Harbaugh was ousted in 2014 after an 8-8, following which the Niners cleaned house. As a result, Harbaugh returned to his alma mater in Ann Arbor.

Jim Harbaugh Considering NFL Return

Despite repeatedly asserting his commitment to Michigan, recent moves by Harbaugh suggest that he is at least considering an NFL return. He hired Don Yee, Tom Brady’s long-time agent who also represents Broncos head coach Sean Payton. Harbaugh interviewed with the Vikings two years ago and had preliminary discussions with both the Broncos and Panthers last season. Despite this, he remained with the Wolverines both times. 2023, despite the national championship, was a frustrating year for Michigan. Harbaugh was suspended for six games for recruiting violations and later sign-stealing allegations.

However, Harbaugh is not the only person the Chargers are considering. They have interviewed six candidates over the last week. Two are internal candidates – interim head coach Giff Smith and OC Kellen Moore. Chiefs Wait On Opponent As Bills-Steelers Postponed

However, the Chiefs will have to wait on that winner. Steelers at Bills, originally scheduled for January 13 at 1pm will now be played on January 15 at 4:30pm. “Now, you may see clear skies [Sunday] morning, but don’t be fooled. The bull’s-eye of the storm is predicted to hit midday Sunday afternoon right during the scheduled Buffalo Bills game. [The game will] continue to be played at Highmark Field right in Orchard Park. It’s all part of our critical efforts to keep New Yorkers, motorists and fans safe from this wildly unpredictable storm,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a public address.

With a shelter-in-place order active, the Bills will not be able to address the several feet of snow expected at Highmark Stadium. Furthermore, the team has asked any fans who can safely make it to the stadium on Sunday to help the team shovel snow ahead of Monday. However, this is a regular and long-standing occurrence for the Bills. The team is offering $20 an hour and complimentary food for anyone willing to help.

She explained in a statement on Twitter: “I’ve been in communication with @NFL commissioner Roger Goodell regarding the dangerous conditions in Buffalo this weekend. In consultation with our emergency response teams, @BuffaloBills leadership, and the NFL, the Bills game will be postponed to 4:30 pm Monday.”

Washington Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer will succeed Nick Saban at Alabama, sources have told ESPN. The news is the first major link to a new coach in Tuscaloosa after Saban’s sudden retirement earlier this week. Previously, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning announced this intention to remain at his current school. Washington is reportedly aggressively fighting to keep DeBoer, who guided the team to the National Championship Game this season and has lost just three games over the past two seasons.

The 49-year-old DeBoer turned Washington from an ailing Pac-12 cast-off into the conference’s best team. His first head coaching tenure was spent at his alma mater, Sioux Falls and won three NAIA championships. After subsequently spending a decade in offensive coordinating roles, DeBoer received his first D1 head coaching role at Fresno State. DeBoer led the Bulldogs to their first bowl game in three years before leaving for Washington ahead of the 2022 season.

Nick Saban Retires, Leaving Big Shoes for Kalen DeBoer

However, if DeBoer is hired, he would be stepping into both the most coveted and difficult coaching job in college football. Saban led Alabama to six national titles and finished with a record of 201-29 at the school. After falling to Michigan in the CFP Semifinals, the expectation is for Alabama to ride the momentum of Jalen Milroe’s emergence and challenge for a title in 2024.

Furthermore, the new coach, who is now expected to be DeBoer, will have to contend with an NIL machine that Saban held disdain for. Despite this, Saban has denied speculation that his retirement was due to the evolving world of compensation for college athletes. “Don’t make it about that. It’s not about that. To me, if you choose to coach, you don’t need to be complaining about all that stuff. You need to adjust to it and adapt to it and do the best you can under the circumstances and not complain about it,” Saban told ESPN. While Saban had previously expressed doubts about NIL, namely that it could create a “pay to play” system. However, he also acknowledged that it was the future of college athletes.
