Erykah Badu Joins Cast Of “The Piano Lesson”

The Piano Lesson is a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by August Wilson. It is the fourth in Wilson’s The Pittsburgh Cycle, a ten-play series about the Black experience in 20th Century Pittsburgh. The series, in which each play is set in a different decade, also includes Fences. Fences was later adapted into an Oscar-nominated film.

While a TV film of The Piano Lesson was released in the 1990s, a feature film adaptation has been in the works since 2020. The play focuses on the Charles family in 1936 and more specifically, the debate over what to do about the family grand piano. The film already has Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington attached but recent news has added another big hitter to the cast.

Jackson and Washington are both set to reprise their roles from a recent stage adaption of The Piano Lesson. However, they will be joined be in a small musical cameo by four-time Grammy winner Erykah Badu. First coming to prominence with her three-time platinum album Baduizm, Badu was a staple of the R&B scene of the 2000s. However, it has been some time since Badu has released new music. Her latest album, the mixtape But You Can’t Use My Phone, came out in 2015. Furthermore, she also revealed a single, “Tempted”, in 2019 as part of the soundtrack for The Photograph.

While Badu’s role is said to be “small”, the performer does have an impressive acting resume under her belt already. In 1999, she was nominated for a SAG award for The Cider House Rules. She has also appeared in Black Dynamite, Legends of Chamberlain Heights, and What Men Want. The Piano Lesson is set to be directed by Malcolm Washington, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Virgil Williams. Williams is an Oscar-nominated screenwriter with credits such as Mudbound, 24, and ER. However, The Piano Lesson does not have a release window at the time of the writing. Ludacris Shares Why ‘Fast and Furious’ Movies Keep Coming: ‘We’re Making Billions’

Ludacris Shares Why 'Fast and Furious' Movies Keep Coming: 'We're Making Billions'

Fast X is currently furiously running up the millions at the global box office. But some movie watchers are asking why this is still going on. Ludacris gave a simple answer; we are rolling in billions of dollars.

Speaking on All The Smoke, Ludacris revealed why the question of “why another Fast movie” is “the dumbest fucking question in the world.

“No matter what industry we in, podcasts, music, movies, it’s all about a bottom line,” Luda said. “It’s about how much you spend compared to how much you make. We’re making billions of fucking dollars, and I’m just giving you my heart I’m not trying to brag or nothing.”

He added, “if you spend 200 million and you make a billion, who the fuck is you gonna tell to stop shooting movies when you’re making 800 million dollars?

He makes a valid point.

With a woman-led spinoff in the works, Diesel’s co-star Michelle Rodrigez, who plays Letty, isn’t sure about returning for it. “You pass the baton on. You take the back seat,” she said. “You go passenger side. When it comes the next generation, you have to. It’s the only way to let them define the future.”

Fast X raced into box offices this past weekend behind an impressive $67.5 million opening weekend in America, replacing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 at the top spot.

The film also marked the return of one of the series’ biggest stars. More on that here.

Isaiah Washington Accuses George Clooney and Sam Rockwell Of Sexual Harassment

In a series of tweets, Washington shares that he also believes Hollywood likes ‘boys to be big black and strong in Hollywood’and tags A-list actors in dresses.

I’m wondering if I posted about the Actor Sam Rockwell being drunk and flicking my dck in a bar and when I told him to apologize before I kicked his ass and told the Producers (The Russo Brothers) that I was going to handle him, he finally apologized and bought me a bottle of Scotch. Two nights later Actor George Clooney walks up to me in the same bar and says, “I hear that you don’t like getting your dck flicked” and does the exact same thing knowing that I couldn’t knock his out. Will the mainstream media write about these allegations in this tweet? Nope. No Cease and Desist and just crickets. What they need to do is leave me the hell alone, before I really start talking. I wonder…

They like them boys to be big black and strong in Hollywood. With Black Men like that who needs a Black Woman?
