Over the last decade, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges has swiftly transitioned from an A-list rapper to a popular movie star. The Atlanta native’s debut album Incognegro came in 1999 through his own record label, Disturbing Tha Peace. Def Jam repackaged the album to what fans came to know as Back for the First Time. This was after Def Jam signed Ludacris to the New York-based label. The record spawned hit singles like “Southern Hospitality” and “What’s Your Fancy.”
Ludacris climbed to the top of rap royalty with his subsequent albums and hit singles. He released seven more studio albums after Back for the First Time. His Release Therapy record won a Grammy for Best Rap Album. The lead single “Money Maker,” featuring Pharrell, also won Best Rap Song at the Grammys of the same year. Then, he released Ludaversal in 2015. Some of his popular hit records include: “Area Codes” featuring the late-great Nate Dogg; “Rollout,” “Stand Up,” “My Chick Bad,” and “How Low.” Luda also made guest appearances on Usher’s hit singles “Yeah” and “Lovers and Friends.” Further, he’s featured on DJ Khaled’s club banger, “All I Do is Win.”
Bridges is more recognized in Hollywood as a blockbuster actor than a hip-hop artist these days. This is largely because of his role in the multi-billion-dollar Fast & Furious franchise. He has appeared in six of the sequels. Luda has also signed to appear in the last two films of the franchise. Yet, the Fast and Furious Franchise films are not the only movies in his filmography. Here are some of the best movies the “Area Codes” rapper has appeared in so far.
End of the Road (2022)
Ludacris and fellow hip-hop alum Queen Latifah team up in this Netflix crime thriller, End of the Road. The film was released on the streaming platform in September 2022. It received mixed reviews due to its simple storytelling. However, it was a movie that showcased the acting range from Ludacris and Latifah.
Ludacris portrays Reggie, the brother to Brenda (Queen Latifah). She has two children, Kelly and Cam. The family is forced to relocate from Los Angeles to Houston after Brenda’s husband dies of cancer. Reggie, who hasn’t quite put his life in order, joins them to live with their mother while they get back on their feet.
John Henry (2020)
Ludacris stars alongside Terry Crews in this thriller drama film. The film had a limited theater release in January 2020. However, it was on Netflix that the film garnered viewership success. It premiered on the streaming platform in May 2020 and was the second most popular movie title at a certain point. Maurice Fadida and Eric B. Fleischman, who produced the movie, have expressed interest in a sequel after its initial success on Netflix.
The film is loosely based on the folklore of John Henry. Terry Crews plays John, while Ludacris portrays his crime-lord cousin, Hell. John is also an ex-member of Hell’s gang. The two cross paths after John tries to save two immigrant children from the clutches of his crime boss-cousin.
The Ride (2018)
The Ride is a heartwarming independent drama film that was released in 2018. It is available for viewing on Prime Video. The film received mostly positive reviews upon its release. Ludacris and Sasha Alexander play an interracial couple (Eldridge and Marianna Buultjens). They decide to adopt John, a minor initially placed in juvenile detention after a violent and racially charged incident.
The film centers on the couple’s efforts to help John overcome the challenges of his white supremacist upbringing. Eldridge and John slowly bond over the love of BMX riding and extreme sports. The family forms a bond of admiration, mutual respect, and redemption as the film concludes.
New Year’s Eve (2011)
New Year’s Eve is a romantic comedy that centers on several couples interconnected by their problematic New Year’s Eve experiences. The film is directed by Garry Marshall. It consists of an ensemble cast including Halle Berry, Jessica Biel Timberlake, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert De Niro, and Ludacris. Zac Efron, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Sofía Vergara also appear.
Ludacris features as Lieutenant Brendan Nolan in the film. He is friends with Claire Morgan (Hillary Swank) and helps her make the final arrangements for the famous New York City New Year’s Eve ball drop. The film opened at No. 1 at the box office and has amassed $142 million worldwide. Critics, however, were not too kind to the movie, which several publications rated as one of the worst. Many suggested it was because of the bloated star-studded cast.
Gamer (2009)
Ludacris co-stars alongside action movie phenom Gerald Butler in this science fiction thriller film that premiered in 2009. The film also features Terry Crews, who would later join forces with Ludacris for the movie John Henry. Gamer is a classic tale of how technology can be used to control human beings against their will. Of course, there always has to be resistance in such movies to create conflict. Ludacris plays the character of Brother, the spokesperson and leader of the Humanz. The Humanz is a small group of activists who are against mind-controlling technology.
Hustle & Flow (2005)
Former rappers like Will Smith, Ice-T, and Ice Cube have certainly paved the way for rappers transitioning into movies. Film studios are more comfortable now than before, bringing hip-hop acts like Ludacris, 50 Cent, and even Quavo into film franchises. Things were a little more difficult in the 2000s and backward. Hip-hop artists, and to some extent, Black actors, had to settle for stereotypical roles to prove their talents.
However, that sidebar doesn’t diminish the brilliance of Hustle & Flow. The film debuted to rave reviews due to its direction and the acting prowess of Terrence Howard. Ludacris plays the character of Skinny Black. He is a famous Memphis rapper who crosses paths with DJay (Terrence Howard). The conflict between the two ‘alphas’ is brief but believable. Of course, in 2005, Ludacris was already a famous rapper, which also helped deliver his scenes with Howard.
Fast & Furious Franchise (2003 – )
The Fast and Furious franchise is a series of action-packed movies that revolve around street racing and international heists. They also have a strong theme of family. The first sequels centered on the relationship between Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, and Brian O’Conner, played by the late Paul Walker. Notable actors like Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and Hellen Mirren appeared in the later films as the franchise grew.
Ludacris plays Tej Parker in the films. He was initially a street racer/referee and an old friend of Brian O’Conner. The later sequels portray Tej as a tech genius, usually helping Toretto and Co. hack into various computer systems. He is frequently paired with Roman Pearce, played by Tyrese Gibson, to provide comic relief.
Tyrese is a beloved pillar of the Fast and Furious franchise. He first appeared in 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious and became a franchise staple from 2011’s Fast Five onwards. While there has never been any evidence that Tyrese had beef with late co-star Paul Walker, Walker has been a part of the franchise he has been unable to shake. In late March, Tyrese’s on-and-off girlfriend Zelie Timothy revealed that she was more into Paul Walker when they first met.
But now it seems that it is Tyrese’s turn to drop some bombshells about Walker, who passed away in 2013. Like Timothy, Tyrese had something of a relationship-related anecdote to share when he appeared on The Morning Hustle. However, Tyrese’s story is much more salacious and revealed that he shared an unusual bond with Walker, while also confirming a near-decade-old claim.
“We Were Smashing The Same Girl” Tyrese Claims
During his conversation on The Morning Hustle, Tyrese revealed that during the filming of 2 Fast 2 Furious, he and Paul Walker were sleeping with the same woman. The woman in question was Eve Mendes’ stunt double, Cindy Leon. “She’s a beautiful girl,” he said, “and me and Paul were smashing the same girl on the set of 2 Fast 2 Furious and didn’t even know it”. Tyrese also referred to a 2015 interview that Leon gave in which she confirmed that she had slept with both actors. According to Leon, Tyrese was “sexy and freaky” while Walker was “sweet and loving”.
According to Tyrese, he eventually told Walker that they were both sleeping with Leon. “And then we told each other. He was like, ‘Yeah?’ I was like, ‘Yeah…”. The actor and musician also noted that even after finding out, neither of them stopped sleeping with Leon. However, he was critical of Leon’s 2015 interview, calling out her “goofy ass” for “letting the whole world know”. The amusing set story did not seem to affect the relationship between the co-stars. Tyrese would appear alongside Walker in Fast Five as well as the 2018 documentary I Am Paul Walker. However, the interview did confirm a long-standing claim about a deeper connection between the two co-stars.
Tyrese’s girlfriend Zelie Timothy recently revealed that she was more into Paul Walker at first during an Instagram Live session. Moreover, they hopped on the Gram to dish out some more details concerning their relationship and to generally just have a good time with viewers. Furthermore, when asked about how they met, the actor and singer said he slid into the model and influencer’s DMs. Then, Timothy revealed that she actually wasn’t that interested in him at first, instead preferring his Fast & Furious costar Paul Walker as her “type.” While discussing her emotions, she made sure to pay tribute to the tragically lost actor.
“My type was actually Paul Walker. Rest in peace,” Zelie remarked while caressing Ty. “But [Tyrese] wasn’t my type at all. And my type is not ‘white.’ I’m just saying I was more interested in Paul.” Afterwards, he told her “Don’t touch me,” clearly not super pleased with her words, even though she likely said it with no ill will. Still, she went further in. “Even when I met [Tyrese], I was like, ‘Eh, he’s kind of old.’ I just like his smile. It’s pretty cool. His personality … His personality was OK.”
Tyrese’s Girlfriend Says Paul Walker Was More Of Her Type
“This went really bad,” the singer and actor stated. “This just went really bad really fast. I’m getting off Live.” Despite his pleas, his girlfriend wasn’t finished. “He didn’t understand the Instagram model thing, so he would always talk down on Instagram models,” she continued. “So you wanted the homie; you didn’t want me. You said I’m old,” he replied. “I never said I wanted the homie, I just said he was cuter,” Zelie responded. “You know all this already. I wasn’t your type either. So relax. And, yeah, so now we’re here, and it’s an actual, somewhat of a love story, which is crazy.”
Actually, the one thing that Tyrese would probably agree with is that last point, as he shared a loving message for Zelie on their anniversary. “Happy Anniversary to a true God send… I love you and appreciate you…. The most patient kind, loving and understanding woman ever as most could imagine… 2 years today we said YES to taking this unexpected beautiful journey through the highs and the lows. I just want you to know over and over again privately and publicly. I love you and appreciate you and thank you for holding my hand and loving me through this journey….. 2 years and counting happy anniversary my love @zelietimothy your heart is GOLD!” Regardless of her confession, log back into HNHH for the latest on Tyrese and Zelie Timothy.

As far as promotional events go, Universal held multiple events celebrating the release of the trailer’s film footage. The studio hosted a launch event for the trailer on February 9, 2023. The event took place in downtown Los Angeles and featured appearances from the franchise. “Fast X” Trailer

The Fast X trailer aired online for the first time on the morning of February 10. Universal released the trailer officially a few days prior to Super Bowl LVII. Then, the trailer then aired during the program on February 12. It showcases the danger that Dom (Vin Diesel) and everyone he cares about will face as “the end of the road begins.” Fans are looking forward to seeing Jason Momoa’s character, Dante, who will be Dom’s newest adversary.
Based on Fast X‘s synopsis, “Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. Producers include Diesel, Lin, Neal Moritz, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Samantha Vincent. The film’s theatrical release date is set for May 19, 2023.
Universal has begun the promotional campaign for the highly-anticipated 10th film of the Fast & Furious franchise,Fast X. Today, they released the film’s action-packed trailer. Brie Larson and Jason Momoa lead a group of new actors and actresses that have been added to the franchise. Momoa plays a villain, Dante. Larson plays a new character, Tess. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Sung King, Jason Statham, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Scott Eastwood will return to their roles.
The trailer for Fast X showcases the danger that Dom and his crew will encounter in as “the end of the road begins.” Momoa’s character, Dante, is their newest adversary. Apparently, he has ties to Fast Five (2011). Dante remembers when Dom and Brian (Paul Walker) tied a bank fault to their Dodge Chargers and drove it through Brazil to get away from Hernan Reyes. Their heist ruined his life. After all, he is Reyes’ son. He has spent the last 12 years thinking of a plan for revenge against them. He wants to ruin the “Fast” family and make Dom lose someone he loves.
“Fast X” Trailer
Since becoming reunited with Jakob at the end of F9: The Fast Saga, the Toretto family’s patriarch has tons to lose. He is also raising his son, little Brian (Leo Abuelo Perry), with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). According to Fast X‘s synopsis, “Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But, everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.”
Larson’s character, Tess, is described as a “rogue representative from the Agency, looks to be on the side of the Torettos.” Also, “Captain Marvel” makes four Oscar-winning performers in the franchise (with Moreno, Theron, and Mirren). Richtson’s character, Aimes, is the new head of the agency. Apparently he “doesn’t hold the same fondness for Dom’s crew as his predecessor, Mr. Nobody.” Furthermore, Melchior is a Brazilian street racer who is connected to Dom’s past. The trailer footage also promises a major fight scene between Cipher (Theron) and Letty (Rodriguez). The film is to be epic.
