Ellen Lee DeGeneres, born in Metairie, Louisiana, in 1958, began her journey as a comedian in the local clubs of New Orleans. With a warm, self-deprecating humor that often took everyday situations and spun them into hilarious stories, she made people laugh and think simultaneously. Her big break came in 1986 when she performed on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, becoming the first woman comedian invited to sit on Carson’s famous couch post-performance. DeGeneres’s career is a kaleidoscope of achievements across different media. Her television sitcom Ellen, running from 1994 to 1998, became a cultural touchstone, particularly when her character came out as gay, mirroring her real-life coming out on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Then came The Ellen DeGeneres Show, a daytime talk show juggernaut that premiered in 2003. With a casual air that welcomed everyone from celebrities to everyday heroes, dancing, humor, and touching moments, it quickly became an institution in American television. The show earned a staggering 60 Daytime Emmy Awards, stamping DeGeneres’s mark as a powerhouse in television entertainment.

Her voice acting in Finding Nemo as Dory, the forgetful but lovable fish, resonated with audiences young and old. In addition, she’s hosted the Oscars, the Emmys, and the Grammys. With each gig, she weaves her charm and wit into some of the most prestigious events in entertainment.

Ellen’s personal life has been as vivacious and meaningful as her professional journey. Married to actress Portia de Rossi since 2008, the couple has become a symbol of love and equality. An advocate for animal rights, Ellen’s vegan lifestyle is a testament to her ethical stance on animal welfare. Her sense of style extends to her clothing line, ED by Ellen, further showcasing her multi-dimensional personality. Yet, Ellen’s story isn’t without challenges, including a public coming out that initially derailed her career and personal struggles. However, her resilience and ability to return stronger have added layers to her narrative that go beyond laughter.

DeGeneres’s business acumen can be seen in her production company, A Very Good Production, which backs her show and other content. Her real estate investments are equally impressive, with savvy purchases and sales in the luxury housing market. Yet, her philanthropic spirit stands out more than her business success. From supporting animal rights to humanitarian aid and LGBTQ rights, her generosity has extended to various causes. The famous “You get a car!” episode of her show symbolizes her style of giving – surprising, touching, and transforming lives.

Conclusion

Ellen’s journey from comedy clubs to global stardom is a multifaceted exploration of talent, determination, and humanity. It’s about laughter that heals, courage that inspires, and generosity that uplifts. Her financial achievement is a mere footnote in a life about breaking barriers, embracing diversity, and dancing to the beat of authenticity.

She has painted a canvas where her net worth is perhaps less captivating than her worth as an artist, an activist, and above all, a person who has turned her platform into a beacon of positivity and change. Her success speaks of a richness not merely in monetary terms but in a legacy that has, and will continue to, resonate with future generations.

NORE Wonders Why Hip-Hop Artists Would Rather Appear On ‘David Letterman’ Than ‘Drink Champs’

NORE has a bone to pick with artists who choose to grant interviews to more mainstream outlets. The rapper turned podcaster’s show Drink Champs has become a well of viral moments in hip-hop over the past few years. However, there remains a certain class of artists who offer first looks to shows such as David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Zane Lowe’s Apple Music show, or CBS Mornings with Gayle King. This has apparently stuck in NORE’s craw, and he made his feelings known on Twitter last night.

“I have been the best to this culture,” he began. “I have always put hiphop first and I see u guys go to Ellen and David letterman’s and Zane lows and treat them wit more respect then the culture but u say u want black excellence.” He continued, name-checking another few well-known hosts. “Imma be honest even going to Oprah or gal is trash at this point !!! We control our in culture why go outside of it!!! David letterman is my favorite but man why go there or Ellen before million dollars worth of game or joe or the champs or even twitter sh*t!!!”

Aside from the obvious answer, which is that all of those shows have way bigger audiences and reach than the handful of hip-hop-focused podcasts NORE mentioned, it’s worth noting some recent history in searching for an explanation. In recent months, artists like Ari Lennox and Kehlani have both spoken out about feeling disrespected in interviews.

Contrast that with Letterman’s laid-back softball style in his recent interview with Cardi B or King’s empathetic treatment of Megan Thee Stallion‘s shooting injury. Could it be that these women looked at how their peers were treated over such sensitive topics as gender identity and sexual activity and decided to forego the possibility of being publicly embarrassed?

How vulnerable could they be with the rowdy hosts of these podcasts talking over them, gaslighting them, and trying to be “funny” about being shot or dealing with criticism as a woman in hip-hop? Even Nicki Minaj has spoken out before about feeling disrespected by “for the culture” outlets and preferring the professional tone of “white outlets.”

It’s easy to understand where NORE is coming from. Why don’t hip-hop artists do hip-hop media? After all, who helped them get to the upper echelons of pop culture? It can feel like artists are avoiding the scrutiny from the audiences who know them best, only seeking out positive coverage from mainstream media. And that’s valid.

But when the hip-hop-centric media are only interested in goading their subjects, looking for viral moments or juicy gossip, we can’t be surprised when it turns out that professional artists don’t enjoy the less-than-professional atmosphere these shows create. There’s probably a middle ground, but with trust eroded on both sides, it’ll probably take a while for artists to feel like “the culture” gives as much as it takes.

Kim Kardashian Explains Why It’s ‘Hard’ To ‘Take The High Road’ While Co-Parenting With Kanye West

For the past month or so, Kanye West has been making life apparently difficult for Kim Kardashian as he lashes out over their recent divorce. It’s gotten downright concerning at times — so much so that outside observers like Trevor Noah have taken to using their case as an object lesson in the sort of behavior that frightens women into staying in toxic or abusive relationships (Kanye didn’t like that very much, getting himself suspended from Instagram while Noah tried to show empathy for the obviously hurting rapper).

Through it all, though, Kardashian has handled the situation about as gracefully as can be expected, imploring Kanye to take their dirty laundry offline and change the narrative. She was asked about this tendency on Ellen today, where the host noted that she “always protects him because of the kids.”

Kim admitted that dealing with Kanye is difficult but also explained why she hasn’t thrown him under the bus yet. “I think that’s just who I am and I always saw such a good example in my mom and my dad in their relationship, so I’m always just hopeful,” she said. “No matter what goes on, it’s the father of my kids. I’ll always be protective. I always want my kids to just see the best of the best. So I just try to — as hard as it can be sometimes — ignore it and just try to do whatever’s best for the kids… Take the high road.”

Although she’s done a relatively decent brushing off her ex-husband’s Instagram tantrums, that doesn’t mean she’s handled every situation perfectly. Kardashian was has been trolled for the past week after a promo interview for her family’s new Hulu-based reality show went viral. In the clip, Kim offers her “advice” for success: “get up and work” — which rang more than a little tone-deaf considering she was basically born wealthy and mostly makes money by slapping her name on various products promoted by her and her family’s reality TV empire. Two things can be true, right?

Machine Gun Kelly Made A Beat Out Of Ellen DeGeneres’ Famous ‘Finding Nemo’ Whale Noises On ‘Ellen’

Alongside hosting her own long-running talk show, perhaps the defining job of Ellen DeGeneres’ career is voicing Dory in the Finding Nemo movies. On today’s Ellen episode, Machine Gun Kelly was a guest and he brought those two DeGeneres worlds together by remixing one of DeGeneres’ most iconic Finding Nemo moments.

To wrap up the “Burning Questions” segment, the final prompt was “Do your best Finding Dory impression.” That was a set-up for something MGK had planned, which started with him pulling out a piece of music production hardware. He started by showing DeGeneres an audio sample he pre-loaded onto the machine, a clip of her Dory character making “whale noises.” From there, he reversed the sound and used it as the foundation for an instrumental beat, which left DeGeneres impressed.

Elsewhere during the segment, DeGeneres asked what boyband Kelly would want to perform at his wedding. He responded, “Which boyband am I going to know the most songs of? For sure, NSYNC. Which band do I surprisingly know all these facts about? BTS. […] I remember one time, I met them at the Billboard awards. They were, like, stoked to meet me. I think I have a better chance of getting BTS to come.”

Check out the segment above. Kelly also talked about his and Travis Barker’s tattoos, so check that out below.
