Meek Mill Thinks He Topped “Dreams & Nightmares” With New Intro

Recently, Meek Mill took to Twitter to tease some upcoming music, which he claims might be some of his best work yet. The Philadelphia-born performer revealed that he’s laid down the intro for his next album, which he says will arrive before the full project. According to him, it might even top his critically acclaimed 2012 Dreams and Nightmares intro.

“I just laid a new intro,” he Tweeted yesterday (December 6). “I think it will top dreams and nightmares!!!! Nobody can tell me different but the streets! Ima drop it b4 my album!!!!” Outshining “Dreams and Nightmares” would obviously be quite the feat. Regardless, Meek Mill appears confident that he’s pulled it off.

Meek Mill Teases Upcoming Music

The new project will follow Meek Mill’s collaborative album with Rick Ross, Too Good To Be True, which they unveiled in November. The LP boasts various high-profile features from the likes of French Montana, Future, Fabolous, and more. The project didn’t move how listeners expected it would in its first week, however, resulting in some trolling online. Regardless, Meek Mill made it clear that he was unbothered by the reportedly low projections. “It’s says me and Ross on pace to sell 35k first week I would post if it said 350k,” he Tweeted. “I’m too nice and rich to be rapping in a control music environment that’s why we dropping music on Fridays it’s doesn’t make sense …. Now we all own our music we getting the tech built to put people on our own musical subscriptions and we gone let direct to consumer see if rap if doing well…”

“Staring at social media fantasizing about others lives and getting mentally sick!” he said in a subsequent Tweet. “I seen it happen to so many people! It’s like a clout zombie effect.” What do you think of Meek Mill claiming that he might have topped his Dreams and Nightmares intro? Do you think that’s possible? With all of that being said, LeBron James was enjoying himself last night after his big outing at the ESPYs. He went to the after party, and someone was able to capture him dancing along to music. In fact, the song that was being played was a mashup of Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” and Meek Mill’s “Dreams And Nightmares” intro. The beat of the song was from Uzi’s track, all while Meek’s rapping was placed on top of it. Overall, it makes for an interesting mashup, and LeBron definitely agreed.

Shaquille O’Neal Mashes Up Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” & Meek Mill’s “Dreams & Nightmares”

Shaquille O’Neal blended Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” and Meek Mill’s “Dreams & Nightmares” during a recent performance in Philadelphia. The mash-up comes after a viral debate concerning whether Uzi’s song replaced Meek’s as the anthem for the city of Philadelphia.

DJ Diesel had been performing during the Phillies’ home matchup against the Nationals from Citizens Bank Park. Sharing a clip of the set on TikTok, Shaq wrote: “when in Philly..” while tagging both artists.

DJ Drama was the first one to spark the debate on “Just Wanna Rock” versus “Dreams and Nightmares.” The Philadelphia Eagles had previously walked out to Uzi’s track during their NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. “I think it’s fair to say that ‘Just Wanna Rock’ has replaced—with all due respect—‘Dreams and Nightmares’ as the new anthem of Philadelphia, as the new anthem of the Philadelphia Eagles this year,” Drama told TMZ. “I’m looking forward to hearing that song many, many times [throughout] Super Bowl weekend.”

Despite the debate, Uzi admitted they side with Meek’s “Dreams and Nightmares” when asked which song is Philly’s anthem. “I don’t think so,” Uzi told Revolt TV. “That song like been around for a very long time, and that song is still hitting exactly the same way. I’m just gonna have to see, you know, in a couple of years or a decade or whatever.”

He continued: “[Meek’s] a big homie from Philly, and that’s like one of my big homies. So I just like, feed off the energy that he gives actually to be able to even produce or put out that type of music. So like, hopefully. Like shit, hopefully he would hope that for me too. Not yet, though – it’s too early to tell.”

Meek Mill Responds To DJ Drama’s “Just Wanna Rock” Praise Over “Dreams And Nightmares”

DJ Drama started a huge debate recently after he said Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” is Philly’s new anthem, overtaking the intro to Dreams and Nightmares by Meek Mill. While both tracks are undeniably iconic, the choice is tough given that Meek’s intro’s been around for over a decade. In fact, he took to Twitter to defend his longstanding banger, citing its longevity and acclaim. “Intro been lighting the world for 10 years!” he tweeted yesterday (February 2) after Drama’s take spread. “Like shaking rooms for years!”

Furthermore, the Gangsta Grillz legend said that Uzi’s newest hit is the new dominant track in Philly, especially after they walked the Eagles out to their Super Bowl-affirming game last Monday (January 30). Moreover, TMZ spoke to Drama shortly after the victory. “I think it’s fair to say that ‘Just Wanna Rock’ has replaced — with all due respect — ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ as the new anthem of Philadelphia,” Drama stated. “As the new anthem of the Philadelphia Eagles this year, I’m looking forward to hearing that song many, many times [during] Super Bowl weekend.”

Of course, the DJ’s words caused many to weigh in on the match-up. While ‘Just Wanna Rock’ is currently one of the biggest songs in the world, many blasted Drama for his take. For example, one fan wrote “Biggest difference is Meek Mill got an ANTHEM and Lil uzi is a hot SONG.” Another commented “That don’t sound like Philly music,” which even people from outside the city seem to agree with. “I’m not even from Philly…Dreams and Nightmares all day,” someone posted.

However, many also pointed out that of course the 44-year-old supported an artist on his label. “It’s Drama’s label so of course he gonna say that,” a fan pointed out. “But let’s just dead the debate n go back to Freeway’s ‘What we do’ !” which is another strong contender. Still, which song do you think wins in this debate? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and nominate songs missing in the Philly anthem discussion.
