Drake’s Manager Quotes “Red Button” Lyrics Amid “Not Like Us” Petitions And The Trolls Can’t Help But Laugh

No matter what Drake does now, people are going to pick him apart. Overall, this entire petition debacle surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” record, and UMG and Spotify just isn’t a good look. Given how clear cut the results were from the battle earlier this year, moving on and coming back with new music was probably his best option. But he has decided to go against that and instead try and disprove how popular the diss track is. Drake has filed two pre-action petitions since yesterday, with the first one revolving around what he believes is a violation of the RICO Act. He’s alleging that UMG and Spotify were working in tandem to artificially inflate the streams and traction of “Not Like Us” and its video.

But it didn’t stop there. Just a few hours ago, reports have come out revealing that Drake is also seeking damages over defamation. He believes that the track is essentially a grossly false, as it does label him as a ped*phile. Drake was hinting at a round two between him and K. Dot earlier this year. However, this is a pretty disappointing sequel to the original film we got to watch in real time.

There’s Nothing That Can Save Drake Now

But Drake’s team doesn’t seem to think so. In fact, his manager, Matte Babel, feels that this is just the beginning to what could be a scary series of events for Kendrick, UMG, Spotify, and whoever else. We say it that way because Babel is quoting some bars from Drake’s For All The Dogs Scary Hours Edition. He shared these lyrics, which read, “Everyone was good with me, then everyone expression faded / Tickin’ time bomb and they beggin’ me to detonate it.”

Babel also included these: “If I press this red button, dog, everybody Heaven Gated / Press this red button, dog, and everything forever changes.” So, yeah… if this is indeed the “red button” then Drake is in an even deeper hole. The trolls are already coming out in droves and tearing this “threat” from Babel to pieces. “A b**** n**** love b**** n****s, they exist with ’em in style,” one Twitter user writes. “Suing for defamation ain’t no red button dawg,” another adds. In totality, Drake is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Meek Mill Suggests That Drake Is Off His Rocker Amid His Kendrick Lamar Lawsuits

The Diddy situation has changed a lot of people’s perceptions about Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill. His alleged ties to the mogul have deteriorated his image and he’s become low-hanging fruit because of it. Anytime Meek has something to say about practically any topic, he gets weird looks/reactions in return. Overall, things have been rough on the “Going Bad” artist, which is also true for the song’s co-star. Drake is currently trying to prove once and for all that Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” song and video have never been as big as the numbers suggest. In fact, over the last 24 hours or so, he’s taking legal action to show that the hype and success of the record is all a hoax.

Drake’s preparing to go to court against Universal Music Group (who he’s a part of) and Spotify for allegedly using methods like payola and bots to boost streaming numbers. But as of just a few hours ago, we are also aware that he’s sent more legal papers to UMG for alleged defamation. This suit claims that the company could have halted “Not Like Us” from dropping, because of it “falsely accusing him of being a sex offender.”

Meek Mill Wants People To Have That Same Energy For Drake

Since these two bombshell reports have surfaced, the internet has not been giving him grace. Hip-hop figures, trolls, and sports media are all condemning Drake for this. They feel he should have just let it go, especially after the back-and-forth diss records. Meek Mill looks to be of that same belief, but he’s taking things a step further.

“But meek be tripping yeah Ard!” We could be reading too deep into it, but it sounds like he’s calling Drizzy wacky for these moves. This also couldn’t be a reaction to this at all, as he never really calls anyone out. However, given how inconsistent their relationship is and the timing of the tweet, it’s most likely an reaction to the latest news. If you are just tuning in, the Canadian hitmaker is suing Universal Music Group and Spotify for artificially spreading awareness for K. Dot’s “Not Like Us” and its accompanying music video. He alleges that UMG has been using an “illegal” scheme consisting of payola, bots, and more to do so. Furthermore, The Boy is accusing the former of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. The “pre-action” petition was filed to a Manhattan court on Monday. Overall, this is turning out to be a bad look on Drake’s part, especially given the backlash that he’s receiving right now.

He’s been low-hanging fruit all year long already, and folks believe he should be letting this beef go. Shannon Sharpe Is In Disbelief Over Drake’s Lawsuit

But it’s not just the general public and the hip-hop community expressing these feelings. Sports figures are also weighing in on the matter, specifically, Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco. The latter was mostly just adding surface level commentary on the subject and asking questions. However, Shannon felt this was way below Drake’s pay grade. He listed off all of his achievements, particularly the fact that he’s the first artist to have 20 songs over one billion streams.

Additionally, the Night Cap host said he’s too big globally and worth too much to be filing a lawsuit over a rap beef. “Drake. He [Kendrick Lamar] got one off on you, it happens!” Overall, he seems to be just as lost and confused as most people are right now. As it stands, some aspects of the documents are already allegedly disproved, so it could be looking even more grim for Drake moving forward.

Drake Alleges “NFR Podcast” Was Paid To Cover Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”

The “lawsuit” from Drake toward Universal Music Group and Spotify yesterday has the internet eviscerating him. People are calling this the definition of spiraling and using the “fragile opp” label against him. In fact, hip-hop fixtures such as Charlamagne tha God, Mustard, and TDE Punch even got in on the action. Similar comments are coming out in droves today as well, thanks to a particular namedrop in the legal documents. A Twitter account, King Wow, sifted through and noticed that the NFR Podcast was allegedly paid to “promote “Not Like Us” and its Video without disclosing the payment.”

It further alleges, “As part of its deal with UMG, the NFR Podcast published podcast episodes, tweets, and other content publicly about the Song. And in a sea-change for UMG’s internal policy, UMG removed the Song’s copyright restrictions on YouTube and Twitch, thereby “whitelisting” the Song (for the first time in UMG history), which further incentivized influencers to spread the Song.” As we said, the comments are just as ruthless as they were when the initial news broke. For example, one Twitter user writes, “Fragile OPPS activity.”

If you have never tuned into any of the NFR Podcast‘s videos or content of any kind, their page is run by Canadians Lu Guerini and Anthony D’Aliesio. However, still seeing their platform in this “pre-action” petition is quite a shocking turn of events.

As it stands, though, Drake’s documents are swinging for the fences. He accuses UMG and Spotify of violating the RICO Act, as well as deceptive business practices and false advertising. Overall, he also alleges that both companies were using an “illegal” scheme to boost streams and other content surrounding “Not Like Us.” Specifically, Drake’s documents allege that UMG has been using bots, payola, and more to carry this out.

On Monday evening, bombshell news hit the internet as it was reported that Drake was filing a lawsuit against UMG for allegedly sabotaging his career. Overall, Drake believes that UMG was paying people to promote “Not Like Us” and was even employing bots to run up Spotify streams. Moreover, it seems like Drake believes this was done in attempt to minimize his career and affect future contract negotiations with UMG. “Anyone acting like Drake is just a bad loser hasn’t read this shit yet. If half of this gets proven, Drake will look like a hero for exposing the corrupt music industry,” Adam22 wrote. Overall, Adam makes an interesting point here. This could lead to some truly massive industry implications. Although it might not be a lawsuit against Kendrick, optically, it does feel that way, at least a little bit. As soon as the lawsuit dropped, the internet made up its mind about how it felt.

Regardless, this is going to be very interesting to watch play out. UMG has already called the allegations “offensive.” They will be fighting the artist tooth and nail throughout this process.
