Drake Allegedly Responds To Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” “Diss Beat”… But Not To Kendrick Lamar

Drake has allegedly responded to Metro Boomin making a “diss beat” titled “BBL Drizzy” that he challenged fans to rap over for a free beat. We say “allegedly” because it’s unclear where DJ Akademiks got this Instagram comment screenshot from, as at press time there’s not a post about this on Metro’s IG. Regardless, he allegedly wrote “You just cheffed a beat about my a**?” and some folks in the comments section down below have pointed out how he chose to respond to this before addressing the predator accusations or anything else that wasn’t his alleged daughter. As such, don’t hinge on the veracity of this response, but whether or not it exists doesn’t change his silence.

It doesn’t change Kendrick Lamar’s silence either. Drake accused him of domestic violence against his partner, and with these serious allegations in mind, folks want accountability to see who’s really telling the truth. But at this point, especially after the release of “Not Like Us,” it’s more about the narrative and the chess game right now. Maybe that’s an unfortunate consequence of rap beef, but Kendrick suggested that there is still more in the tank. Depending on Drizzy’s response, they might either have to keep going back and forth until they run out of bluffs, diversions, and excuses… or try to end it all in one final blow.

Drake’s Alleged Response To “BBL Drizzy” Beat

Of course, tapping out is also an option, although a pretty unlikely one considering how this has all developed so far. As fans debate who’s winning right now, neither Kendrick Lamar nor Drake are showing any signs of slowing down, mostly because this has happened so fast that we haven’t even had time to see them. The turnaround time on these back and forths has ranged from three weeks to 30 minutes, and we can’t forget that if there’s actually a nuclear option in either MC’s arsenal. But the pressure is definitely on right now, more so than it was just a couple of days ago.

Meanwhile, Metro Boomin deserves all the respect in the world, but it’s fair to say that he’s not the main event or target right now. If Drake really responded to this before almost anything else, it’s really not a good indication of prioritization. As folks dig up more alleged receipts on his questionable behavior, it won’t be easy to change the public narrative. But it’s the 6ix God against Mr. Morale: they’ve done more astonishing things than this.

Metro Boomin Drops Drake “Diss Track” & Doubles Down On “Like That” Cease & Desist Claims

Everyone’s focusing on Kendrick Lamar and Drake right now, and while that’s the big battle that’s been building up for a decade at this point, it’s not what really seems to have kicked off this Drizzy hate campaign. Even he believes this, with him having some spare shots on “Family Matters” for who he thinks has been responsible for all this: Metro Boomin. According to the Toronto superstar, he roped Future into beefing with him and made two whole diss albums that The Boy only skimmed through. This is a pretty clear reality to see, with the St. Louis producer doubling down on his distaste for him right now.

Furthermore, Metro Boomin took to Twitter in the wee hours of Sunday morning (May 5) to combat Drake in a number of ways. First off, there were a lot of memes thrown around here, like one of Metro responding to a drumline asking why wasn’t he chosen (referencing the “Push Ups” bar about “making some drums“) plus old clips of the 6ix God in homophobic skits, which is a sad irony considering the next move that he takes. The beatsmith also included clips of old Drake and accusations of “colonizer” behavior stemming from them, calling to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” record. These including calling Toronto slang “ignorant,” saying the hard “R,” being in blackface for the years-later “The Story Of Adidon” pictures, and Metro retweeted a co-sign of K.Dot’s “we don’t wanna hear you say n***a no more” bar.

Metro Boomin’s Last Tweet About Drake (At Press Time)

However, it all gets pretty lame once Metro Boomin starts acting like those homophobic skits from earlier and makes fun of Drake’s painted nails, his alleged liposuction, and some pictures of his intimacy with other men. The other parts of his rant include doubling down on the rumor that Aubrey’s team refused to grant radio rights for “Like That,” that he’s lying about his assessment of Metro’s relationships and his claims of people getting involved with his girl, and poking fun with the “two bad b***hes” bar on “euphoria.” That last one is odd considering Sexyy Red’s St. Louis origin, but regardless, Metro probably took all shots against the OVO leader, not her. Also, back to that “make some drums” bar, Metro actually did. He dropped a pretty good beat whose sample sounds like “BBL Drizzy” and declared that the best verse on it would get it for free.

Meanwhile, Metro Boomin also played a clip of Drake praising The Weeknd a couple of years ago, and called out his bar about people only knowing his music in gay clubs as a result. Perhaps most importantly of all, Metro warns Drizzy that the real reason why they don’t like each other (or rather, why the former doesn’t like the latter) is something that Drake wants to avoid addressing because he knows it would be a bad look. If you’re wondering what went down between these two to spur these claims, there are mostly only theories so far. But it’s clear that at some point, someone drew a line in the sand, and now we’re here.

Metro Boomin Thinks Hip-Hop Is “Alive & Well” As Drake & Kendrick Lamar Beef Heats Up

Do you folks remember last year, right around this time, when the hip-hop community was debating whether the genre was dead or not? We hadn’t seen a No. 1 rap song or album in a long time as of May 2023, and it was a conversation that permeated through a lot of those 365 days. Well, nowadays that conversation looks very different, and it’s thanks to the biggest rap beef we’ve seen in at least a couple of years: Drake versus Kendrick Lamar. Right now, that’s the main event, but just a few weeks ago, there were many more players directly involved, namely Future and Metro Boomin.

Speaking of which, the St. Louis producer recently posted a picture of him in the studio (making some drums, as Drake requested) with the following caption: “HIP-HOP IS ALIVE AND WELL.” Of course, there are multiple different ways in which fans could be interpreting this message right now. The first is that Metro Boomin is teasing an upcoming project, song, or other related release on the way, and that this means that he will keep contributing to rap music’s canon very soon. The other and much more likely explanation is that he’s celebrating the success of his and Future’s collab album series, WE [STILL] DON’T TRUST YOU, and gassing up the release of Kendrick Lamar’s response track to Drake, “euphoria.”

Metro Boomin Comments On The State Of Rap Today

Furthermore, their Kendrick Lamar collaboration “Like That” on the series’ first installment is what really ignited the explosion of this whole beef, roping in Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Kanye West, and more against Drake. Also, Metro Boomin had previous rumored issues with Drizzy, and these releases and disses exposed a lot of shifting relationships and bonds in the OVO camp and beyond. Right now, Aubrey Graham is probably hard at work on a response to K.Dot, and they’ve both teased nuclear weapons in their arsenal that they haven’t revealed yet. Only time will tell whether their bluffs will become bombs.

Meanwhile, even though Drake kind of shooed away everyone in this fight expect Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin is right to make this assessment of hip-hop, which has always been true since its birth over 50 years ago. Even though he didn’t come out as an explicit victor in this beef, his “Like That” track, its aftermath, and all his work this year has kept rap at a commercial and artistic high, plus previous chart-toppers in 2024 such as 21 Savage and others. Whether it’s reigning over Billboard charts or causing more interest in verse writing and bar work, it’s a stimulating, chaotic, but pretty fun time to be a hip-hop fan. But we need to acknowledge how to handle that attention responsibly, because the numbers are temporary, but the art is forever.

Metro Boomin Denies Pusha T’s Involvement In Drake Beef

Kanye West’s “Like That” remix has really given a whole new set of possibilities in the Drake beef (which, at this point, is actually unfair to call a civil war when it’s more like a coup d’état). A lot of folks thought that Metro Boomin and Future would then call on even more people to join the battle, but if this specific example is anything to go off of, it seems like this was more Ye’s initiative than it was an agreement to any proposal from the duo. That’s because the St. Louis producer shut down rumors that Pusha T would be added into the mix with another rendition of “Like That.”

Moreover, folks allegedly saw a tweet in Metro Boomin’s likes that had an interesting proposition (we say “allegedly” because it’s not available anymore at press time). “I hope its pusha, not for the beef but i just need some new bars from him,” a user replied to someone previewing that who’s next on the remix will be something wild. When pages began to cover this and interpret it as a tease towards Pusha T verse on “Like That,” Metro replied to one in particular with a simple message: “fake news.” It’s unclear whether the false claim in question here is the Twitter like, the proposition, or both.

Metro Boomin Denies Rumors Of A Pusha T “Like That” Remix

Either way, there are a couple of different reasons as to why Pusha T probably won’t be dissing Drake anytime soon. For one, time and time again, he’s made it clear via interviews, social media posts, and other communication methods that he’s not interested in returning to that ring. The Boy didn’t even respond to “The Story Of Adidon”; why should the Clipse MC bother? While he hasn’t been above teasing his former opponent about his loss, or joking about his unscathed emergence from that whole debacle, he probably doesn’t see this as an important battle unless, for some reason, Drizzy specifically seeks that smoke out six years later.

Meanwhile, as for the idea of a “Like That” remix itself, we know that the “Runaway” duo isn’t as tight as they used to be. As such, we doubt that Ye would be the one to bring his former G.O.O.D. Music affiliate into the fold. But rap fans can dream… Is it something you’d be excited about? Metro Boomin Exposed For Praising Drake In A Plethora Of Old Tweets

Metro Boomin and Drake are at odds right now. Overall, their feud has been growing for months, although it has seemingly hit its peak. Once Kendrick Lamar dissed Drake and J Cole on “Like That,” it seemed as though all bets were off. Subsequently, Drake came through with his own diss track this weekend, simply called “Push Ups.” On the song, he takes aim at Metro with one perfectly placed line. It was a humorous line, and fans are already excited to see how this is all going to play out, moving forward.

Throughout the morning, Drake has continued to take aim at Metro. Ultimately, some fans feel as though it is a weak move, especially when you consider how Drizzy can rap back, while Metro cannot. That said, with Metro under the microscope, fans have been going on his Twitter account and looking for reasons to clown on him. As it turns out, they have found a plethora of tweets from over 10 years ago, in which Metro can be seen praising the megastar. Of course, these posts are aside from the one we reported on a few hours ago.

Metro Boomin Has Some Deleting To Do

All of these tweets are exceptionally complimentary of Drake. They make it seem as though Metro was a huge Drake fan growing up. Of course, that is probably very well the case. These two have even made tons of hits together. Along the way, something went wrong, and now there seems to be some real hatred there. Hopefully, these two can talk it out and come to terms on some sort of solution.

Let us know what you think of the mess between Metro Boomin and Drake, in the comments section down below. Do you find all of this to be childish?
