With all of this talk about Drake & Future, we can’t help but think about all of the good times that these artists had together. Of course, this includes the album What A Time To Be Alive which dropped back in 2015. Since it is Thursday, what better to reminisce than a Throwback Thursday? In particular, we are thinking about the album’s most famous song, “Jumpman.” This was an undeniable banger and anthem that fans are still thinking about to this day.
One has to wonder if Drake & Future will ever reconcile. Based on this new GQ interview, it really does seem like Future would like to link up with Drake again. However, Kendrick Lamar went pretty hard, and we can imagine Drizzy must feel some type of way. Only time will tell whether or not it is too late for differences to be resolved.
Jumpman, Jumpman, Jumpman, them boys up to somethin’ They just spent like two or three weeks out the country Them boys up to somethin’, they just not just bluffin’ You don’t have to call, I hit my dance like Usher, woo I just found my tempo like I’m DJ Mustard, woo I hit that Ginóbili with my left hand up like woo
There are still a lot of lingering questions about the 2024 rap beef that dominated the year: Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and absolutely everything in between. Understandably so, we might add, as there are still a lot of artists dynamics that we can’t make a solid judgement call on these days amid reconciliation rumors. For example, one question mark is Future’s involvement, as it seems like his feud with the 6ix God isn’t as deep or consequential as other conflicts. In fact, DJ Akademiks recently suggested during his livestream that Pluto didn’t even know that K.Dot was going to do what he did on “Like That,” fully kicking the battle into gear.
“Even with Drake and Future, even though they haven’t spoke… It was never that deep,” DJ Akademiks remarked on his livestream. “I heard that – allegedly. Now, I don’t know if this is true. This is one I’m like, yo, if this ain’t true… S**t, I’m skeptical of it, too. They say Future claims he ain’t know that Kendrick was going to diss Drake on motherf***ing ‘Like That.’ I don’t know if that’s true. I don’t know if that’s true, chat, I don’t know if that one’s true. But that’s what supposedly is the thought. That is the thought or that is the explanation that has kind of trickled down. Again, they still haven’t spoke. But that’s the explanation. Which, you know, maybe that goes towards eventually something happening. It feels like deescalation’s happening a little bit, right?”
DJ Akademiks Theorizes About Kendrick Lamar, Drake & Future
Even if this Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Future theory is true, no way that Fewtch didn’t sign off on all this before dropping it. Also, what would this even look like? Was he in the studio reacting like a content creator when he heard Kendrick spit his “Like That” verse, or did he hear about it later on? Regardless, amid conflicting reconciliation rumors, this is an interesting thought.
Maybe we’ll get a solid answer on all this one day, but don’t expect it anytime soon. For now, fans and hip-hop media personalities only have theories as to what happened with Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Future, and company.
Last month, Young Thug’s official X account shared an interesting message, prompting big reactions among fans. “.@Drake @1future @MetroBoomin we all bruddas. Music aint the same without us collabin,” the post read. Within hours, Future appeared to co-sign the message by retweeting it, leaving social media users in shambles.
Of course, Drake’s been at the center of plenty of beef in recent months, which was ignited by Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You collab with Kendrick Lamar, “Like That.” Future’s retweet was the first glimmer of hope fans saw that he and Drake could actually potentially reconcile. This sparked a debate about whether or not they should, and most agreed that they’d love to hear them team up again.
Elliott Wilson Discusses Drake & Future’s Reconciliation
Fortunately, it looks like that may not be off the table. During a recent episode of The Bigger Picture, Elliott Wilson revealed that Drake and Future have finally been able to work out their differences over the phone. “I have it on good authority that Drake and Future have at least gotten on the phone and resolved their differences,” he stated. Wilson also suggested that the reconciliation could have something to do with Young Thug’s aforementioned Tweet and that Drake has yet to make amends with Metro Boomin.
“I think that helped the energy when Future reposted [Young Thug’s Tweet],” he explained. “There’s no trust there still with Metro, but I do believe that Drake and Future are back on the same page.” Wilson went on to note that the reconciliation doesn’t come as too much of a surprise considering the rappers’ history. “Obviously we know that Drake and Future have so much history. Drake was the one saying, ‘We never really went through it.’ [Future] got the lightest of all the taps in the one v. 20, so it makes sense in some capacity,” he concluded. What do you think of Elliott Wilson claiming that Drake and Future have settled their differences? Do you hope this means they’ll work together sometime soon? Drake and Future’s musical relationship came to a crossroads following the release of We Don’t Trust You. Future’s latest album with Metro Boomin recently shook the rap game, separating them from their adversaries. Additionally, Kendrick Lamar’s show-stopping verse on “Like That” put “The Big Three” on notice with disses against Drake and J. Cole. Certain lyrics on We Don’t Trust You, including the album’s title, have prompted fans to look back into Drake and Future’s relationship.
They specifically turned to Drake’s verse on “More M’s” from his 2022 collaborative album with 21 Savage. Drizzy took shots at an unnamed target on the Her Loss track, which many initially assumed to be The Weeknd. Some even alleged the lyrics were aimed towards Metro Boomin, who produced the track. We Don’t Trust You puts Drake’s “More M’s” verse in a brand new light, sparking fan theories that he was actually dissing Future. Today, we are revisiting the verse in the context of Drake and Future’s bubbling feud.
Unpacking Drake’s Verse On “More M’s”
The first shot that Drake sends on “More M’s” is quite cryptic. He raps, “Dissin’ on his album and it flopped, he deserved it.” While the line clearly aims at a fellow artist, it cannot be Future. In 2022, I Never Liked You debuted at No. 1 earlier that year. One cannot interpret it as a Pusha T diss, either, when It’s Almost Dry also secured a No. 1 chart position. Drake continues to take shots in the following lyric, rapping, “Come up out that booth and bring that energy in person.”
Many assumed this lyric to be about Metro Boomin following their alleged discrepancies. However, it could be directed towards Future due to their subliminal exchanges. Next, Drake asks, “What happened to that n***a claiming OVO? We traded him.” Some understood this line as a dig at The Weeknd due to their early collaborations, but he never signed to OVO nor flopped. For those same reasons, it cannot be about Future.
Drake May Have Dissed Future
Looking at the end of Drake’s “More M’s” verse, some lyrics may diss Future, given recent developments surrounding We Don’t Trust You and their reported beef. “N****s see my deal, look at they deal and now they hate the kid,” he raps in reference to artists envious of him for his lucrative record contracts. The line could be about the Future or speak more broadly to Drake’s competition.
Continuing the sneak diss, he spits, “N****s ain’t got love for the boy, so they fake it. Crack a couple jokes to some b*tches on some snake sh*t / But if I send a verse to they ass, then they’ll take it. Shoot a video, arm around me like we aces or pop out at my shows, jump around with me on stages.” Drake and Future’s relationship dates back almost a decade, collaborating on music, touring the country, and shooting music videos together. The fake love referenced on “More M’s” points to a close collaborator, and Future could easily be the intended target.
Drake’s last lyric ultimately points to his What a Time To Be Alive counterpart, considering fan theories about them reportedly beefing over a woman. He raps, “Might’ve f*cked a rapper, girl, but you ain’t f*cked Drake yet,” solidifying this theory. Ultimately, Drake has a storied history of subliminal disses, so these lyrics could be aimed in other directions. If they are, fans have yet to pick up on it.
Among fans with similar theories about Drake and Future’s reported beef is Joe Budden. In the latest episode of his podcast, Budden and his co-hosts delved into We Don’t Trust You, Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” verse, and the Drake and Future beef. They specifically dissected the lyrics of Drake’s “More M’s” verse. Budden applied it to Future and speculated that they are indeed beefing over a woman. “They fighting over girls like all the rappers always have,” Budden said of the verse’s final line. “There’s only a few people he could be talking to,” his co-hosts also chimed in.
Joe Budden connected “More M’s” to Drake’s “What Would Pluto Do” from For All the Dogs, hinting at an escalation of his reported “static” with Future. Budden also theorized Future’s “Everyday Hustle” as a diss track. Regardless of his current standing with Drake, Joe Budden fueled the rumors of “More M’s” being a jab at Future, finding it thoroughly entertaining. These theories may be speculative, but “More M’s” could be aimed toward Future, considering Drake’s affinity for subliminal disses.
Drake and Futureare reportedly beefing right now. Overall, this became clear following the release of We Don’t Trust You. Of course, this new album from Metro Boomin and Future is expected to go number one next week. Furthermore, the track “Like That” with Kendrick Lamar is about to become a number-one song. This is significant considering the fact that it contains a scathing diss towards both Drake and J. Cole. It is yet another example of the hit-making abilities possessed by Kendrick, Metro, and Future.
As it pertains to the Drake and Future beef, numerous theories have been going around online. For instance, there have been rumblings that the two are beefing over a woman. While Metro Boomin was quick to dispel this rumor, it has continued to run rampant. So much so that the woman at the center of all of this has decided to speak out. In the video below, you can see that she decided to go live on Instagram. Throughout the clip, she notes that no one is beefing over her and that she isn’t worth obsessing over. Moreover, she noted that her boyfriend thinks all of this is very funny.
At the end of the day, rumors can tend to run wild on the internet. People love running with a narrative, and if that narrative goes unchecked, then it will just continue to grow. This is especially true when the story involves two of the biggest names in hip-hop. That said, fans are now awaiting a potential response from Drake. Whether or not he actually goes through with one, still remains to be seen.

Drake and Future proved themselves to be an unstoppable duo over the course of their careers. They have an extensive history of collaborating, including a full-length album and countless guest features. The two even co-headlined arena shows across North America on their Summer Sixteen Tour. In the booth and on stage, Drake and Future bring the best out of one another. Their working relationship has been championed by fans, encouraging their prolific output as collaborators. The alliance between Drake’s OVO Sound and Future’s Freebandz supposedly ended recently following subliminal disses and rumors. In 2023, N.O.R.E. suggested that Future was upset with Drake teaming up with 21 Savage for their Her Loss project. These unconfirmed rumors coincided with fans noticing tension between Drake and Metro Boomin, with whom Future recently released We Don’t Trust You.
Despite denying any beef between them, Kendrick Lamar’s vicious verse on “Like That” has sparked further discussion about their relationship. Lamar sent shots at Drizzy and J. Cole’s “First Person Shooter” collab and dismissed the notion of them as “The Big Three.” With the hip hop community in a frenzy, both Drake and Future’s respective camps are shrugging off rumors and shutting down any potential beef. With Drake walking out to a Future song at a recent show, it appears that any sort of feud is already underway. Whether or not they are actually beefing, we have gotten a sizable amount of legendary music from Drake and Future. Today, we are looking at their history of collaborations.
Building Their Collaborative Chemistry
Drake and Future first teamed up in 2011 when Drizzy hopped on the remix of Future’s breakout hit, “Tony Montana.” While it opened the door for more music, it also foreshadowed any bubbling tension between the two as Future was upset with Drake for not showing up to the song’s video shoot. Many of their other collaborations in their early careers were featured on other artists’ songs. Both artists appeared on DJ Drama’s “We In This Bitch 1.5,” Lil Wayne’s “Love Me,” and Preme’s “DnF.” Besides “Tony Montana,” Drake jumped on some of Future’s other early projects, including FBG: The Movie, on the song “Fo Real.” He was also on the “Sh!t Remix” and “Never Satisfied” from 2014’s Honest.
What A Time To Be Alive & Creative Winning Streak
After building their collaborative chemistry for a few years, Drake and Future’s rapport culminated in a creative winning streak. This musical peak started in 2015 when Drake served as the lone guest feature on “Where Ya At” from Future’s DS2, which Metro Boomin primarily produced. The song foreshadowed what was to come from their full-length collaboration, What A Time To Be Alive. The project arrived the same year, boasting major hits like “Jumpman.” With Metro Boomin executive producing, the album displayed the magic of their musical partnership. Their commercial and creative streak continued into 2016, with Future appearing on “Grammys” and co-writing “Feel No Ways” from Views. Following the conclusion of their Summer Sixteen Tour, they released “Used To This,” a standalone single affirming the alliance between OVO and FBG. Additionally, Future provided background vocals on “Blue Tint” from Drake’s Scorpion.
The Supposed End Of An Era
Before any tension arose between them, Drake and Future started the 2020s with a run of major collaborations. Ten days into 2020, they unleashed “Life Is Good,” a two-part song where each had their own moment to shine. Not too long after, they reconnected for the toxic anthem “Desires” and “D4L,” which also featured Young Thug. Both of these tracks appeared on Drake’s Dark Lane Demo Tapes, a compilation of previously released and leaked songs. Going into 2021, Future guested twice on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, contributing vocals to “N 2 Deep” and the hit single “Way 2 Sexy.” Like “D4L,” the latter also featured Young Thug.
As of now, Drake and Future’s final collaborations were both on 2022’s I Never Liked You. Drake rapped on “I’m On One” and sang on “Wait For U,” which sampled Tems’s “Higher.” The latter won the Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance. If Drake and Future’s supposed beef continues, they certainly ended their musical run on a commercial high note, winning a Grammy and securing a No. 1 single.
Drake is currently at war with a whole lot of artists. At this point, it seems as though everyone has turned against him. Metro Boomin, Future, Kendrick Lamar, and even Rick Ross are out here taking shots at him. Overall, this has proven to be very entertaining for hip-hop fans. The last time Drake was battle-tested, it was 2018 and Pusha T was making massive revelations about the superstar’s life. Now, however, he is going up against Kendrick, and there is a real chance he could lose here. No one knows what’s coming, and the anticipation is mounting.
The artist had some shows over the weekend, and you can imagine just how eager fans were to see his reactions to everything. Well, he decided to get a bit petty at his most recent concert. In the footage below, you can see that he came out to the Future song “My Savages.” It was an interesting choice, but given Future’s recent diss, it came as a bit of a shock. That said, if you know how petty Drake is, then this was just another move that signals how the artist plans on handling the situation.
In the comments section over on DJ Akademiks’ post, some theorized that this could all be promotion for What A Time To Be Alive 2. “They dropping a collab album this just the marketing,” one person wrote. “Imagine this all just promotion for WATTBA2,” said another. Others claimed that Drake is a masterful tactician, who is always a few steps ahead of the others. “Drake playing chess they playing checkers,” they wrote.
Let us know what you think of the feud between Drake and Future, in the comments section below. Do you think Drizzy is going to drop some sort of track? Will he try to go after Kendrick Lamar first?
