Drake Called Out For Top5 Support By Alleged Murder Victim’s Family

For a couple of different reasons, Top5’s release from prison drew a lot of controversy online. Of course, a big and obvious one was how he threatened Kendrick Lamar and Metro Boomin while livestreaming with DJ Akademiks shortly after returning home. But a larger point of contention is how the Toronto rapper (real name Hassan Ali) claimed via social media that Drake paid for his legal fees. For those unaware, he faced trial for the fatal shooting fo 20-year-old Hashim Omar Hashi. Earlier this week. a judge determined that various pieces of evidence were inadmissible in court, so the case stopped there.

However, while Top5 thanked Drake for this, he reportedly edited the post afterward to remove any mention of him. Many believe that this case is one of mistaken identity, as Hashi studied accounting and had no verifiable gang ties. Now, the OVO mogul received some scathing criticism from the victim’s cousin. “Zero clue this was even a thing,” they shared on their Instagram Story. “This s**t hit like a blow to the stomach […] THIS IS THE WILDEST MOVE. WHAT THE F**K ARE YALL DOING @champagnepapi #JusticeForHashim.

Drake Gets Harsh Criticism For Supporting Top5

“Thank you @champagnepapi your version of justice means Hashim’s sister had to watch her brother’s murderer celebrating on TV,” they continued against Drake. “He insisted if that tells you anything about the [caliber] of people we’re dealing with here – during her honeymoon. When I came back from Portland, they told me @ovo40 was one of the good guys, he was really tryna find a solution for what’s going on in the city. THIS IS THE SOLUTION?! Any and everything he does hereafter, every mom that has to hear him sing abt murdering their kid — THAT’S ON YALL!! The blood is on your hands.

As for Top5’s case, he was not the suspected gunman, but rather a passenger alongside whoever shot Hashi from a vehicle. He continues to stand by his innocence in this case and denies any and all ties to any gang. “An innocent man just came home. I hope they find whoever they did that. R.I.P.,” the Toronto MC told press outside of the courthouse after his release.

Drake Allegedly Exposed In Leaked Voice Memo To Jhonni Blaze

Considering his “100 GIGS” drops and how prolific he’s been throughout the years, it’s no surprise that when we hear something about Drake online, it’s usually coming right from the source… Right? Well, his massive celebrity status guts all chances of that. Moreover, he just found himself in the middle of a social media fight between his supposed ex Jhonni Blaze and her friend Ghetto Barbie. The latter of which exposed some alleged text messages between Blaze and The Boy. In a long voice message, he seems to basically address their past history together and basically says that he’s not super comfortable with reengaging.

So in reality, what Drake got “exposed” for here is apparently just curving Jhonni Blaze respectfully and making it clear that he has no ill will towards her. However, the discussions about their history and how he sometimes doesn’t know how to respond to her text messages indicate that it’s probably more complicated than that. Regardless, it’s not for us to find out, as some fans are more interested with Drizzy’s supposed claim that he’s being forced to tour for Live Nation. This refers to his recent and extensive tour, the It’s All A Blur series.

Drake’s Allegedly Exposed Jhonni Blaze Messages

Back to this Jhonni Blaze debacle, though, she obviously was not happy with her former friend for leaking these alleged Drake messages. But it’s not the only recent allegation to emerge around him. Steve Stoute recently claimed that the Toronto superstar turned down the Super Bowl halftime show twice, adding to that controversy’s discussion. “I will confirm. Drake [rejected] the Super Bowl twice,” he told The Pivot podcast.

“Drake did turn down the Super Bowl twice,” Steve Stoute continued. He later went on to defend Jay-Z’s decision for 2024. “And I’m sure if Drake would’ve said yes, he would’ve brought Lil Wayne out at some point, right? He probably would’ve brought out Nicki, which is probably why she’s upset because she’s not on the stage. But Drake turned it down twice. So, like, this, ‘the NFL, somebody spoke to’ – No. He turned it down twice, which is fine. He didn’t want to do it.”

Drake Allegations Were Predicted By Comedian Shane Gillis Five Years Ago

Drake has faced the wrath of Kendrick Lamar to the fullest degree as of late. Overall, fans could have never predicted the venom that Kendrick was going to come with. In fact, both artists have leveled some huge allegations against one another. For instance, Lamar has been accused of domestic violence. Meanwhile, Drizzy and his entire OVO crew have been accused of grooming young women. While fans are loving the beef right now, there is no denying that all of this is very dark and has real-life implications.

That being said, allegations against Drake pertaining to young women have circulated for years. There has been a pervasive narrative that the artist is around young women too much. People look at his texting habits with Billie Eilish and Millie Bobby Brown as proof. While these women have made it clear that they aren’t victims, fans still think it’s weird. Meanwhile, in a resurfaced podcast from 2019, comedian Shane Gillis predicted that Drake would be hit with these kinds of allegations.

Shane Gillis Speaks On Drake In 2019

The comedian notes that he actually likes Drake as an artist. However, at the time, he believed that in five years’ time, the artist would be hit with R. Kelly-like allegations. Interestingly enough, the five-year timeline was prophetic as we are now in 2024, and Kendrick has proven Gillis to be correct. Of course, it must be said that these claims against Drake are just allegations. Nothing has been proven, and fans should not jump to conclusions just because their favorite artists said something on a record.
