DJ Khaled might be one of the funniest social media personalities alive. Everything he does online is hilarious, even if it seems unintentionally so. The thing is, he knows it, which only makes everything more fun. When he’s not producing hit albums such as his album God Did or showing off his love for sneakers (and the extreme lengths he’ll go to in order to preserve them), he’s showing off his athletic prowess (or lack thereof) with ill-advised dunk attempts and overly enthusiastic golf swings. That extends to a surf video he recently uploaded to Instagram in which he wipes out hard.
But, as I pointed out above, Khaled knows we’ll all be laughing about it, so he ups the comedic value of the clip by running back his splash down a couple of times — he even adds slow motion, as well as a few (seemingly unrelated clips of himself receiving a massage and whacking a golf ball out of the rough “right down the middle.” Maybe he felt like he needed to cushion the blow to his ego.
Khaled’s new golf hobby became the focus of another amusing post as Diddy gave him a brand-new golf cart. “If you gonna be the number one in golfing, we gotta make sure you’re number one in the golf cart, baby,” Diddy says in the clip. “Sh*t looks rich, sh*t looks healthy, looks like it fits my brother Khaled.”
One thing DJ Khaled’s friends, family, and fans will never stop loving about the father of two is his larger-than-life personality. For those who aren’t able to appreciate the producer’s love for the finer things and never-ending adventures in person, he regularly documents them on Instagram to keep us laughing. Over the weekend, Khaled did just that with a Reel depicting his latest vacation, which included some surfing, a relaxing massage, and a round or two of golf.
Unfortunately, it seems the TLC the “GOD DID” artist received at the spa was necessary after his time on the water. In Sunday’s (June 11) post, Khaled confidently heads out on the calm blue water, preparing to stand up as he increases speed. Though he does make it up for a brief moment, the 47-year-old crashes down just as quickly, hitting the water in what looks to be a painful belly flop. Rather than playing the victim, the DJ poked fun at himself with hilarious editing showing the fall on repeat.
“ ALL CATEGORIES LETS GO ,” the Louisana native wrote in the caption of his post. “IT’S OK TO BE HAPPY! @wethebest.” As mentioned earlier, the next snippet sees Khaled looking more relaxed than ever on a massage chair, the woman taking care of him even climbing atop the table to work out any knots in his back. It seems the self-care was just what Khaled needed to get back to his regularly scheduled activities, such as hitting the green with his friends.
In the comments, several IG users have left funny quips like “They don’t want you to learn how to surf,” and “Probably stick with golfing brother.” Thankfully, 2023 hasn’t been all belly flops for DJ Khaled so far. DJ Khaled recently acquired a rare photograph of Nas from his Illmatic era. It appears to have captivated him. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the We The Best mogul shared the black and white photo. The shot captures a young Nas standing at an intersection in the Queensbridge housing projects, looking back at the camera. Additionally, Khaled posted a video about it. In the clip, the producer expressed his admiration for the picture. He mentioned that the photographer who took it for Nas’ Illmatic album in 1993 signed it and gave it to him. He referred to it as a classic, representing the essence of hip-hop.
Danny Clinch, renowned photographer, took the photo of Nas. It was taken during the shoot for the rapper’s debut album. Clinch discussed the iconic photoshoot in a 2014 interview with Billboard. In the story, the photographer recounting how Nas guided him around his neighborhood, leading to the capturing of memorable shots. Clinch described Nas as a wise poet who was ahead of his time. Additionally, he highlighted that during that era, hip-hop artists represented their roots and shared stories of their upbringing. Furthermore, he said that Nas epitomized this with Illmatic, making the album particularly special.
Nas’ Illmatic is widely regarded as one of the greatest rap albums of all time. The Library of Congress even added it to their collection in 2021. Librarian Carla Hayden emphasized the cultural, historical, and aesthetic significance of the album. Furthermore, she said they considered it an audio treasure worth preserving for future generations. Released on April 19, 1994, “Illmatic” debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart. It went on to sell over 63,000 copies in its first week. The album achieved 2x platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in February 2019. It had already sold a million copies by December 2001.

But she’s not the only LSU star shining right now. Two of her teammates were just drafted into the WNBA. And then there’s Flau’jae Johnson. Johnson won SEC Rookie of the Year for her performance at LSU alongside Reese and company. She’s also a musical star in her own right and is currently working on collab with Lil Wayne. In a seemingly neverending tour of music and sports royalty for LSU’s stars, DJ Khaled was the latest figure to link up with them. A post on the rapper’s Instagram with the caption “Bless up and congrats” showed him meeting both Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson. It’s yet another big name throwing vocal support behind not just women’s sports, but players who have had to battle adversity and criticism in recent weeks. If the support carries over into next season, expect star-studded crowds at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Regardless, LSU’s stars are capitalizing on a wave of support from some of the biggest names out there.
Additional context about the meeting could be found on Johnson’s Instagram. In a post of her own, Johnson wrote “Wow, God Doing His Big One… Flaujae X @djkhaled coming soon”. This indicates that it was not just a social link-up, but a business meeting for the young rapper. Along with collab with Lil Wayne, Johnson’s track Point Of View recently surpassed 200,000 views on YouTube, according to her most recent Instagram post. A meeting with an industry giant like Khaled speaks to big things in the works for Johnson and the rest of her LSU cohort.
Diddy treated his good buddy DJ Khaled to a surprise recently: a luxurious golf cart. Khaled thanked his friend for the gift by sharing a video on his Instagram feed of the moment he received it.
“If you gonna be the number one in golfing, we gotta make sure you’re number one in the golf cart, baby. Sh*t looks rich, sh*t looks healthy, looks like it fits my brother Khaled,” Diddy said.
“Let me be clear, Diddy just bought me a golf cart. He got me this as a gift,” Khaled adds in the clip.
Diddy explained more about the backstory behind why he gave Khaled a golf cart in his own Instagram post, noting that he saw just how hard his friend was working at the sport.
”I’m so proud of my brother @DJKhaled for all the work he’s putting in on the golf course,” Diddy captioned. “Enjoy my gift to you! I had to find the flyest of the fly for my brother! This ain’t no regular degular golf cart!”
“Thank you @diddy love brother beautiful gift !!!!!!! Grateful ! #LetsGoGolfing,” Khaled commented, once again expressing his sincere gratitude for the extravagant vehicle.
According to Billboard, Khaled is also reportedly filming a TV show about golfing. Diddy has also said that he “shot the pilot for Khaled’s new TV show,” giving some more insight to the duo’s relationship.

As one of music’s most sought-after producers, Khaled has created records for countless artists. His resume includes singles cut for Jay-Z, Beyonce, Future, Migos, Drake, and Rihanna, to name a few. Now, the husband, businessman, and Grammy award winner is conquering a new lane, thriving in the world of golf.
If you’re one of Khaled’s 33 million Instagram followers, you’re likely familiar with his recent sports endeavors. On any given day, Khaled is seen riding around in his cart or out on the course practicing his swing. In one recent IG Reel, the 47-year-old shared that he wishes to go pro. Additionally, Khaled even plays with his own We The Best golf balls during his practice. On Wednesday, his longtime friend Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs gifted him a luxury golf cart to take his game to the next level.
Diddy shared an IG Reel showing himself and Khaled dancing and rapping inside the plush chrome cart. In the caption, Diddy subsequently praised his buddy for his golf strides, writing, “Enjoy my gift to you! I had to find the flyest of the fly for my brother! This ain’t no regular degular golf cart!” The thoughtful present arrived a few months after Khaled shared a video of himself getting his cart stuck and crashing it into a curb. Khaled wasn’t hurt by the minor mishap.
Although golf may be a surprising pastime for Khaled, many of hip-hop’s finest enjoy some time working on their downswing. Moreover, ScHoolboy Q made headlines in recent years after stepping away from music and pursuing a career in the game. He even participated in the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Snoop Dogg also enjoys this pastime in between music. As the subject of several prominent visuals, golf has long been a widely accepted sport within the rap scene. Additionally, Diddy and Mase most notably portrayed the roles of a sports announcer and golfer in the famed “Mo Money, Mo Problems” video. Hopefully, we can begin seeing even more hip-hop greats join the ranks of Tiger Woods and Charlie Sifford.
Fridayy’s introduction to the world came in the late summer of 2022. The Philadelphia-based singer is responsible for the thunderous, sky-grazing hook on DJ Khaled’s Grammy-nominated record, “God Did.” The song is more often than not remembered for Jay-Z’s four-minute verse, which follows well-crafted appearances from rap legends Lil Wayne and Rick Ross as well as a soulful outro from John Legend. While Fridayy is undoubtedly the rookie in a room of legends, his chorus roars with the strength required to place itself in between these intricate verses from well-revered rappers in the game. In short, Fridayy holds his own on the song and that would not be the last time we heard from him in 2022 either.
Uproxx caught up with Fridayy just weeks after he, Khaled, Jay-Z, Ross, and Wayne reimagined The Last Supper for a divine performance of “God Did” at the 2023 Grammys. “Twenty years from now, n****s are gonna be talking about ‘God Did,’” Fridayy says over a Zoom call. “I’m marked in history bro, I’m marked in history… I’m just grateful.” It’s this longevity that Fridayy eyes more than any short-term popularity or accolades. “I know my music’s gonna live forever,” he explained. “I already know that if my music’s touching people on a whole other level, like saving lives, it’s not about being the biggest artist in the world. With the type of music I make, even if it’s one fan, I know it’s gonna live forever.”
Just two months after the release of “God Did,” Fridayy found himself beside another big name in rap: Lil Baby. The two connected on “Forever,” one of the more emotion-filled records from Baby’s chart-topping third album It’s Only Me. Fridayy enters his chorus with quivering qualms that sound like he’s nearing a breakdown all to break into a cry to the heavens in a plea for one last moment with a lost lover. At this moment, it was clear that Fridayy could become the latest go-to artist for hooks around the hip-hop world, especially for records that needed that touch of emotion that Fridayy successfully delivered alongside music heavyweights.
While those two records placed the spotlight on the singer, they only did so little to tell Fridayy’s story. To find that, you’ll have to go to his debut project Lost In Melody. Released in the fall of 2022, Lost In Melody arrived with seven songs that fully captured the artistry and foundation that laid within Fridayy. Months later, the project was extended with five additional tracks through a well-timed deluxe release. “I just wanted to give everybody something different you know?” Fridayy says about the project. “I been studying the game for a long time, so it’s like, how can I stand out?” Fridayy sought to be more than a name, and he knew he could reach his goals the same way he earned his breakout moment: through music.
“Coming off ‘God Did,’ it was like, alright, they’re about to know your name,” Fridayy says. “It don’t look like it but, n****s want to know your story. They not gonna accept you until they know who you are.” So he got to work, and through the first four songs of Lost In Melody, Fridayy tells you a lot about himself. “Blessings” showcases gratitude toward the opportunity to chase a dream and take one step closer to it and one step away from what once was. “Empty Stomach” is Fridayy’s own account of the struggles he endured after he moved to Los Angeles to chase his dream. “I got hundred beats, hundred songs in my pocket / They ain’t even hear my sh*t, they say, ‘Youngin, keep grindin,’” he quivers on the song. “I ain’t tryna hear this grindin’ sh*t, I’m starvin’ / Somebody show me where the money at, I’ma walk in.” The following record, “God Sent,” displays his faith and belief in what is destined for him will arrive in due time while “Don’t Give Up On Me” begs that others around him see this destiny and also believe in him. In just the first four songs on Lost In Melody, it’s clear to see that Fridayy is a man of faith and destiny, understanding that both have contributed to his present-day success.
Fridayy’s first interactions with music came when he was 9 or 10 years old. At that time, he began playing the piano in church. He eventually took on singing after being heavily influenced by Boyz II Men, a group that continues to shape Fridayy’s musical decisions today. “When you hear the harmonies, when you hear the four-part harmonies, the adlibs, it all comes from me listing to Boyz II Men,” he says. Fridayy later picked up Philly natives like Meek Mill and the late PNB Rock as additional influences in his career. While the aforementioned artists shaped his musicality, Fridayy says a critique from a girl he was dating a few years ago also had an effect on the future content of his songs. “I was playing her some music and she was like, ‘Damn, the way you talk to me is not how you’re talking in these songs,’” he recalls. “It wasn’t even like a crazy song, it was a love song, but even [with] the love song, the way I talk, I wasn’t putting that in my music. So when she told me that, it kind of opened my eyes.”
This note eventually helped Fridayy to create music with an emotional touch that helped him to achieve his goal of being versatile and standing out. It’s for this reason that he selects “Don’t Give Up On Me” as the song from the project that he feels best describes him as a project. “I’m telling a story, at the end I get real soulful [and] it’s so big,” he says. “I feel like that song is just me, it represents who I am. You don’t know what I’m talking about in that song. You don’t know if I’m talking about a girl, God, or my homie, but everybody takes that song and put it where they need to put it.” In its totality, creating songs like “Don’t Give Up On Me” proved to be a form of therapy that helped Fridayy see his growth by the time his debut was released. “It was seeing I really came a long way type sh*t,” he says. “I’ll listen to it and be like, ‘damn, when I was recording this, I was f*cked up.’ By the time this came out, things were a little different.”
Nowadays, Fridayy is putting the finishing touches on his upcoming debut album. With everything he accomplished with Lost In Melody and more, he knows that the bar is will be higher for his next body of work. Luckily for him, he’s already progressing toward that next level. “We just on a higher level, like it’s just different,” he says about the project. “Same me, just on a higher level: musically, production, melodies. I’m exploring, but you still gonna hear the same me that you hear on Lost In Melody.” The contents of that next level remain to be seen, but you can rest assured that Fridayy is stringing together a story that will help him accomplish the long-lasting legacy he seeks in his career.
