As fans eagerly count down the days to this highly anticipated event, expectations are running high. The BET Hip-Hop Awards continue to serve as a platform for recognizing and celebrating the achievements of hip-hop’s finest. The awards also providing a stage for artists to deliver performances that will be remembered for years to come. With a blend of established legends and emerging stars, the 2023 award show should be a night of musical excellence. And a testament to the enduring power of hip-hop in the global music landscape.

Last year’s award show was equally memorable. Per usual, it’s a night to remember in pop culture. One viral moment that made headlines last year was when Latto won “Song Of The Year.” Fans remember when Kodak Black had something to publicly say regarding her win. He expressed he felt that the network should have been boycotted for awarding Latto with the honor. “This whole s**t looked like a damn plot. Then I look at the ‘gram like what shorty blocked me for?” Kodak said on an IG live rant. “They probably hollerin’ at BET, like don’t give him that s**t. I told [people] weeks ago, ‘Watch they finna play with me and give it to frappuccino.’” Latto had her own clapback, which she shared on X (F.K.A. Twitter), “What kinda frappuccino I look like I taste like??? [tongue emoji].” Stay tuned to HNHH for more moments and music news.

A Man Edited Out Of DaBaby’s ‘Ghetto Girls’ Video Accused The Rapper Of Being Homophobic

DaBaby is working hard to regain traction with rap music fans. He’s even attempted to make amends with former friend Megan Thee Stallion following their private fallout. Over the past few months, the rapper has shared several freestyles and singles with supporting music videos. His latest video for the track “Ghetto Girls” is picking up steam but for all the wrong reasons.

On Saturday, August 26, an actor who was slated to appear in the video as the main antagonist accused DaBaby of being homophobic. The extra named Mustang took to Instagram to express his frustrations with DaBaby after he was supposedly edited out of the video due to his past work as an adult film star.

Read Mustang’s full statement via Instagram below.

So a moment of truth….No one is perfect and yet we are all flawed, we all have skeletons in our closets but there in the closest because none of us wont them out for whatever reason. I often times here (some ppl) of the LGBTQ community say live in your truth and while I understand that I think it’s a method for most of the ones saying that to be in yo business and know your business. Im not ashamed of what I like, love, may or may not do but I am a private person and have a right to my privacy and unless I’m involved with a person like that I don’t feel the need to walk around with a flag in my hand or a rainbow 🌈 to let ppl know my business. My past decisions to do gay content and porn at the time was simply about the bag $$$ I didn’t kno ppl like that, I didn’t care about the hype of being a pornstar and while it brought a ok platform it brought me more turmoil than anything, it outted me, separated me from my family for a while trying to hide the truth of what I was doing at the time to make a living and a come up. It messed up friendships I had with ppl who didn’t kno about me , working relationships and all. At one point I almost committed suicide but I had a praying father and family and I kno God wasn’t through with me yet. So I fought sooooo hard not to let porn define me or put me in a box. I wanted my talents to be seen, I wanted ppl to see I was more than a sex symbol but I could be the best at everything I do. I was always taught if I don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all, don’t throw shade, don’t be petty and don’t be envious. If u see someone doing big things congratulate them, learn from them and grow. I have been told NO a million times but I kept being humble, I kept being professional, I kept being cooperative and easy to work with, I kept loving ppl, I kept giving,I kept building and I kept working and God allowed me to get the right YES everytime. I don’t believe in standing with a community of ppl who only come together to talk about your porn career, and bring you down at the highlight of your success. So I was canceled because of my sexuality and porn so to all who played apart, Thanks YOU DID YOUR BIG ONE.

After people online pushed back against Mustang’s claims, he doubled down in a separate post, writing, “They definitely cut me from the whole video because people couldn’t congratulate me or applaud. But had to bring attention to my sexuality which had nothing to do with the video or my performance. So to all the people who went out of their way to expose a part of my life that didn’t have nothing to do with this project, thank y’all for getting me canceled.”

Back in 2021, following his insensitive onstage commentary at Rolling Loud aimed at the LGBTQ community, DaBaby found himself in hot water with several queer entertainers and allies, including Elton John, Lil Nas X, and Madonna. After deleting his initial apology, he then issued another one reflecting on his actions.

DaBaby Takes On Director Role For Lil Duval’s New Music Video

DaBaby’s music videos have captivated fans since he debuted. From “Suge” to “Walker Texas Ranger,” the rapper’s creativity allowed him to stand out among the crowd. Now he’s decided to take his talents behind the camera. The rapper was recently tapped to direct a music video for Lil Duval. Released via YouTube on Tuesday (August 15), the “Squeeze” video opens with a hilarious skit of the comedian leading a “Stop The Violence” assembly.

Later on, Duval is surrounded by a sea of fans, as well as enjoying himself while dancing his way down the Soul Train line. Based on the comments, the visual seems well-received. “Good shit OG!!!! Giving Da Baby his flowers while he can smell em!!! He gifted af with this directing shit, one fan wrote. Similarly, another person commented, “A classic. Salute lil duval & dababy for the fire direction.”

This Isn’t DaBaby’s First Time In The Director’s Chair

In the past few years, the rapper has taken to the camera quite a bit. Most recently, with “Ball If I Want To” and “Red Light Green Light.” The rapper seems to be moving in a new direction. The future plans of DaBaby as a director are unknown, but hopefully he will. Soon, we’ll know.

In other news, the rapper recently opened up about his career’s ups and downs. During his interview with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo267 on the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast, he spoke on his early shows, the grind that he would dedicate himself to constantly, and more. “I done paid my dues, bro,” DaBaby began his remarks to Gillie and Wallo. “I done performed at hole in the wall s**ts and all that. I got my documentary coming, too. But, yeah, it’ll have s**t in there where you see me performing for three people. That’s why even, you know, when s**t go left or I go through a little slump and s**t, motherf***ers think I’m one of these n***as who, like, entitled to instant gratification.” He continued: “Just entitled to a bunch of goddamn smiles and kisses and… N***a, f**k no.”

DaniLeigh Resurfaces For First Time Since Hit-And-Run At Velour’s B-Day Party With DaBaby

DaniLeigh and DaBaby have been through a lot together since they first entered each other’s lives. They’re both proud parents to their beautiful little girl, Velour. Still, their romantic relationship obviously fell apart shortly after her birth. We saw plenty of brutal back-and-forths documented on Instagram Live as the exes aired out their grievances. A fight between DaBaby and Dani’s brother, Brandon followed soon after. Thankfully, things have since simmered down between them. Even the “VIBEZ” hitmaker appears to have cut out his usual misadventures.

Unfortunately, Dani’s decision to drink and drive back in the spring caused more problems for the co-parents. Since she was taken into police custody in late May, little has been said on the 28-year-old’s front. We’ve been eagerly waiting for an update, and one finally came this weekend in the form of a video taken at Velour’s birthday party. In the clip below, she and Baby amicably celebrate their only child’s first trip around the sun surrounded by friends and family.

Given what she’s been through in recent months, the dancer looks good. Her long, brown hair was styled in waves with a flower keeping it out of her face. She brought the island girl vibes from her head down to her outfit, layering a long, white skirt under a brown top with a cutout in the front, showing off her toned midriff. Now that she’s somewhat back in the public eye, fans are curious to see if Dani will offer a statement regarding what she’s been up to lately.

Shortly after news of DaniLeigh’s arrest broke, a police report stated that a bottle of tequila was found in her vehicle at the time. The mother of one is still awaiting her fate in the tumultuous hit-and-run incident, but on the bright side, she gets to spend plenty of time with Velour while updates unfold. Tory Lanez Says His Jail Cell Is His New Office as He Releases New Pushes His Artist Yoko Gold

Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez is unleashing music from behind bars. While he is fighting for an appeal, the rapper has dropped “Hurt Me,” recorded from inside the jail.

The new single comes with a note from Lanez, who says that his jail cell has become his office.

“To my Family, my Friends and to the Umbrellas World Wide I want y’all to know I haven’t lost my faith in God and that I’m in high spirits,” Lanez wrote. “I’m praying for the best and remain confident that God will bring me through this.

“I have spent the last 7 months rehabilitating my mind, body, and soul. Though I came to jail a good person, I will leave a great person. I’ve turned this jail cell into my work office. I will continue the legacy of the Umbrella from here or anywhere else, I won’t let anything stop me from being a positive light and a help to those in need.”

He would go on to salute his artist Yoko Gold in the statement. You can see it all and hear the single below.

Tory Lanez’s sentencing has been pushed to early August. The adjustment comes as Lanez’s team requested a continuance. LA County court journalist Meghann Cuniff revealed the new sentencing date would be Aug. 7.

As pieces of Tory Lanez’s court documents continue to emerge, a new memorandum notes Lanez and DaBaby attempted to “rush the stage” during Megan Thee Stallion’s Rolling Loud performance in 2021.

That was the same year, DaBaby revealed Tory Lanez was inside a costume on stage with DaBaby. Megan performed before DaBaby, and once the “Suge” rapper hit the stage, he brought out Tory Lanez. Following that moment, he would go on to perform one of his biggest hits with Thee Stallion, “Cash Shit.”

The legal docs state, “It was also brought to the victim’s attention that the defendant and [DaBaby] attempted to rush the stage during her performance.” Thee Stallion didn’t consent to Lanez being present.

[WATCH] DaBaby Raps Over JAY-Z’s ‘PSA’ and Declares Himself Best Rapper in Gas Station Freestyle

DaBaby is back getting bars off. Appearing in a video from a Circle K gas station, DaBaby raps over JAY-Z’s “Public Service Announcement” in a freestyle. In the video, DaBaby rips off his beater and stamped himself as the best rapper after his blitz of a flow. You can hear it from DaBaby below.

Earlier this month, the Charlotte, North Carolina rapper returned with his newest music video for “SELLIN CRACK,” featuring the one and only Offset. Clocking in at five minutes and 40 seconds, the video is inspired by the classic 1991 film New Jack City, which starred Wesley Snipes, Mario Van Peebles, Ice-T, Chris Rock, and more.

Directed by DaBaby and frequent collaborator Reel Goats, “SELLIN CRACK” sees both DaBaby and Migos decked out in swaggy, old-school outfits as they’re seen delivering their own versions of the iconic Nino Brown character. Not only do they bring the song to life, but they recreate timeless scenes from the movie.

Special guests are seen throughout the music video, including D’Aydrian Harding, Kane Kongg and Samaria Stewart. The song itself is produced by Charlie Heat, following the success of DaBaby’s previous standout visual for “SHAKE SUMN,” which is currently at 3.6 million views in just two weeks. “SHAKE SUMN” serves as the go-to twerk anthem for this upcoming summer.

Both tracks come from DaBaby’s most recent three-track bundle, CALL DA FIREMAN, released at the top of May.

Regarding Tory Lanez, DaBaby said it’s hard to speak with him these days.

DaBaby also revealed that new music would be coming at the end of the month.
