Michael B. Jordan And Jonathan Majors Star In “Creed III” Trailer: Watch

The Super Bowl LVII gave Creed fans one last peek at Creed III prior to its release on March 3, 2023. The film is Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut after a long history of acting in films. Some of his most notable performances are Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Just Mercy, Farenheight 451, and Fantastic Four. He will return to the character Adonis “Donnie” Creed. Creed III will be the film’s ninth addition to the Rocky film franchise.

In Creed III, Sylvester Stallone’s character, Rocky Balboa, will not be joining Jordan’s Creed. Stallone is not returning to the franchise due to creative differences. However, Tessa Thompson is reprising her role as Creed’s girlfriend Bianca. Additionally, Phylicia Rashad will reprise her role as Creed’s stepmother, Mary Anne. Jonathan Majors is joining the production as Anderson “Damian” Dame, Creed’s newest rival. Previously, Majors was in Loki and Magazine Dreams. He has multiple upcoming projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conqueror.

“Creed III” Trailer

In the trailer, we see how Adonis has made peace with the fact that he has to live up to the legacy of his father, Apollo Creed. However, as he embraces his own journey, his past hinders his growth. Anderson (Majors) comes back into his life after spending 18 years in prison. Apparently, Adonis and Anderson were both stopped by the police as kids. However, Anderson was the only one put behind bars. Anderson returns to get his revenge. After all, he was robbed of almost two decades of his life. This just means he’ll have to face off with Adonis in a massive event that takes place at Dodger Stadium.

Originally, Creed III had a release date of November 23, 2022. However, MGM postponed the release of the film to March 3, 2023. Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin wrote Creed III. Coogler wrote Space Jam: A New Legacy, while Zach Baylin wrote King Richard and has numerous writing projects coming out alongside Creed III (The Order, The Crow, and an untitled Bob Marley biopic). The Creed III screenplay was based on the story by the Creed I director and Keenan Coogler’s brother, Ryan Coogler.

Dreamville Announces “Creed III” Soundtrack

When both music and movie fans can rejoice, those moments can make for some of the best in a year for pop culture. While many teased and spoke about this crossover, its confirmation is setting those high expectations up. Dreamville just announced their soundtrack for Creed III, the next franchise installment. Moreover, the film is directed by and starring Michael B. Jordan, who previously teased the team-up. “I’m probably gonna get in trouble,” he expressed at ComplexCon. “Dreamville is executive producing this album.” Now, after that insider scoop, the dominant hip-hop label confirmed their big moment.

While Jordan’s likely over the moon about the crossover, it didn’t stop acting and directing at the same time to be difficult for him. “It’s torture, but at the same time, it’s so much fun,” he told Collider in an interview. “It was the challenge of accomplishing it all, with the multitasking nature of developing the story, trying to stay in shape, and giving all the departments what they individually needed, to go do their job.” However, maybe one of the many hats he wore was also making sure this soundtrack felt right. While no one from either camp has yet commented on it at length, some of Dreamville’s camp hyped up its Instagram reveal in its comments. For example, Bas commented a punching emoji, while Morray posted two fire emojis.

Still, the soundtrack will likely fit well when paired with the on-and-off-screen themes of perseverance and dedication. “It’s really hard to put into words,” the director and actor shared. “Every day was a struggle, but honestly, it was the team of people that I had around me that got me through it. You’ve really gotta surround yourself with the right help, so that you can focus on the things you need to focus on. Sometimes that’s doing two things at one time, or three things at one time. It’s just part of the job.

“Once you step behind the camera,” he continued, “the undertaking that it is, from the outside looking in, it’s tough.” However, through that hard work and passion, we’re probably getting something very special soon from these creatives. ‘Creed’ Spinoff ‘Drago’ Reportedly In Works

Michael B. Jordan Set to Make Directorial Debut With 'Creed 3'

With Creed III hitting theatres this November, MGM recently announced that a spinoff called Drago is in the works.

Variety reports that the spinoff of Creed, which is a spinoff of Rocky, revolves around Rocky IV and Creed II antagonist Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren. It was also reported that the film is being written by Robert Lawton.

“I’m incredibly humbled and grateful for this opportunity, and I’m approaching it as an enormous fan of the ‘Rocky’ franchise, who happens to be a screenwriter,” Lawton said in a statement to Variety.

According to the same article by Variety, Lawton landed the job of writing the upcoming film after he pitched his spec script “Becoming Rocky,” which revolved around the making of the first “Rocky” film to MGM executives. While they decided not to pick up the script, he impressed executives so much that they wanted him to build a backstory for Ivan Drago.

The next installment in the Creed franchise is set to release on November 23, 2022. This will be the first film in Both the Rocky and Creed franchises that will not feature Sylvester Stallone playing Rocky Balboa. A trailer for the movie has not come out but pictures of Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors, who is speculated to portray the son of Clubber Lang, leaked earlier this year.
