Durand Bernarr Stuns Erykah Badu With His Soulful “BBL Drizzy” Cover

Durand Bernarr is a staggeringly talented vocalist. He was the second place finisher on the BET reality competition The Next Big Thing in 2019. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry since. Bernarr has linked up with Kaytranada, Anderson .Paak, and the Internet. And he most recently got a chance to perform alongside the queen of neo-soul, Erykah Badu. Instead of covering a soul standard, though, Bernarr fooled around. He decided to cover Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy.”

Bernarr posted the footage on his Instagram on June 3. He made it clear in the caption that the idea came about spontaneously, and that he was merely having fun with the audience. “Per usual,” he wrote. “We have no sense. It was good to be back with the crew.” The footage sees him absolutely lay into the chorus of the infamous Metro instrumental, adding tons of vocal runs in the process. The rest of the performers onstage are stunned by Durand Bernarr’s ability to squeeze passion out of such a silly phrase. Erykah Badu walks into frame towards the end of the cover, and practically falls out.

Badu wasn’t the only artist who was impressed by Bernarr’s rendition. The post was flooded with comments from other musical superstars. SZA commented: “My GYAAADDD.” The praise from her is especially meaningful, given that she just released a bold cover of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” Summer Walker and Rapsody commented with a bunch of heart and laughing emojis, respectively. DUCKWRTH praised the pairing of Bernarr and Badu. “Best superhero team up honestly,” he commented. Isaiah Jaay, meanwhile, lauded the confidence to pull such a bold cover off. “It’s always the confidence for me,” he wrote. “You know you can sang and it makes it even better.”

“BBL Drizzy” has proven to have legs. The instrumental spawned dozens of viral covers. Then it was sampled by the target of the diss, Drake, on the Sexyy Red song “U My Everything.” Drizzy tried to reclaim the trollish meaning of the original beat and flip it to his advantage, but fans didn’t buy it. “U My Everything” has more dislikes than likes on YouTube, despite the star power of both artists. To make matters worse, Drake decided to take down all his disses against Kendrick Lamar. The decision has led fans to do even more trolling online.

Lloyd Surprises Ashanti With “Southside” Performance At Final Concert Before Maternity Leave

Lloyd surprised Ashanti at her concert in Kansas City on Saturday, celebrating her final show before taking off for maternity leave. While on stage for the Tacos & Tequilas event, Ashanti appeared confused as her collaboration with Lloyd, “Southside,” began to play. From there, he hopped on stage to join her in performing the 2004 hit song.

When DJ Akademiks shared a clip of the moment on Instagram, fans were loving it. “Lloyd is married with kids. Y’all gotta chill. This was cute af. I miss this era,” one user wrote. Another added: “I love the love he been showing her during her pregnancy! You can tell he a solid friend!”

It’s not the first time Lloyd has joined Ashanti on stage recently. Last month, he sang to her and Nelly’s unborn child on stage in Philadelphia. On Instagram afterward, he wrote: “Dear Baby Haynes, you are surrounded by love, by good energy, and by ppl who have prayed for your piece [sic] of mind way before you were born. One day I will tell you of the times I got to sing to you while still in your mothers belly, of how your mommy changed my life, and of how your dad was there for me when I needed a little love and guidance. Can’t wait to meet you and make you laugh. Inshallah, Your Uncle Ladi [infinity emoji, heart emoji, baby emoji].” The post clearly left a mark on Ashanti, who wrote in the comments section: “Omggggg I’m cryinggggg and u know I don’t cry… Thanku Ladi love u soooooooooo much!!!!! Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford, said in a statement caught by CBS News: “Michigan Central means a great deal to us all. In many ways, this building tells the story of our city. This Station was our Ellis Island — a place where dreamers in search of new jobs and new opportunities first set foot in Detroit. But once the last train pulled out, it became a place where hope left. In 2018, I decided it was time to change that by reimagining this station as a place of possibility again.”

Nicki Minaj Brings Out Beenie Man During Her London Concert

Nicki Minaj has been on a roll lately. She broke the record for the highest grossing tour by a female rapper, and her latest album, contained her first solo number one single. The positive vibes have been carried over by Minaj, who has welcomed multiple guests during her shows. She reunited with Drake at the Toronto show, and gave the fellow Young Money artist his flowers in early May. Minaj decided to kick things up a notch during her London show, however. She brought the King of Dancehall, Beenie Man, out to perform.

The rapper welcomed Beenie Man with all the reverence one would expect. All she asked for upon his entrance was a hug, and then she proceeded to bow down before Beenie Man and the rest of the crowd. Beenie Man quickly repaid the compliment, noting that Minaj is the queen of hip-hop if he is the king of dancehall. The two artists then helped Minaj and Beenie Man sing along to the classic Beenie Man track “I’m Drinking / Rum & Redbull.” Nicki Minaj is known for being one of the most outspoken and boisterous artists in the genre, so her deference was notable. The rapper even posted about the onstage collab via X (formerly Twitter).

Nicki Minaj Considers Beenie Man An “Inspiration”

“I just performed with the KING OF DANCEHALL,” Minaj tweeted. “One of the most talented musicians that I looked to for inspiration my entire career. I can’t believe this is my life sometimes. Wow. One of my heroes. I love this man so much. @KingBeenieMan.” The rapper may be New York raised, but she was born in Trinidad, and has made a point of incorporating dancehall influences into her music. She made this evident on the Pink Friday 2 cut “Forward from Trini,” which featured appearances from artists like Skillibeng and Skeng.

Nicki Minaj even got on Stationhead to tell fans that didn’t like her dancehall cuts to get with it. “Y’all, some of them don’t like it, but it’s okay,” she noted. “They’re gonna have to get with it… I’m sorry if y’all can’t understand this kind of music.” Minaj isn’t the first Young Money artist to link up with Beenie Man, either. Drake featured the legendary artists on his blockbuster 2016 album Views. Beenie didn’t have an actual verse on a song, but he provided the outro on “Controlla.”

Andre 3000 Plays Carinet At Atlanta Jazz Festival And Fans Are Perplexed

Andre 3000 has delighted fans for decades. As one of hip-hop’s true eccentrics, Three Stacks is one of the rare artists who’s boundary-pushing has been met with critical acclaim and commercial success. He knows how to make experimentalism sound good. His latest endeavor, however, has really put this ability to the test. Andre recently performed a set at the Atlanta Jazz Festival, and instead of rapping or singing, he continued his woodwind odyssey and performed a clarinet solo. Fans were… unsure of how to react.

Andre 3000 performed at the festival on May 27, which also happened to be his 49th birthday. The Outkast star was backed by the same musical ensemble he worked with on his solo album, New Blue Moon. There was some light banter with the crowd, but for the most part, Stacks was focused on his clarinet playing. Outlets have posted video footage of the rapper’s performance and claimed he was playing a flute, but it is, in fact, the same instrument Squidward plays on Spongebob Squarepants.

Andre 3000 Improvised Most Of His Concert Set

The footage of the performance is a little awkward. People in the audience seem unsure of how to react to Andre 3000’s playing. Several of them are looking around, and the silence amidst the rapper’s clarinet solo furthers the awkwardness. To be fair, Andre 3K has been on the windwood wave for a while now. He prefaced his performance by explaining that he doesn’t have a musical roadmap in mind, and will simply go wherever his playing will take him. “Everything we’re doing — the same way that New Blue Sun was made with me and my brothers,” he explained. “We’re completely making everything up as we go along. We never know what the night is gonna sound like.”

Andre 3000 knows that fans want him to rap again, but he told Bitter Southerner that he simply doesn’t have it in him anymore. He’s more fascinated with improvisational, instrumental music, and he feels as though he needs to follow his muse. “The thing is, I can only give what I’m feeling,” he explained to the outlet. “If there’s not any discovery, it doesn’t feel real to me. I’ve never considered myself the best producer or the best singer or the best rapper or any of those separate categories. But one thing I do have confidence in is my feeling.” How can you knock that?

Drake Blesses 21 Savage With The Ultimate Toronto Compliment

Drake and 21 Savage are a duo that have made it through some tough times. Overall, we say this because Drizzy is currently feuding with a lot of 21’s friends. The biggest rift here would be between Metro Boomin and the Canadian megastar. 21 has been caught in the middle of this, although he refuses to take sides. He has made it clear that he loves both Drake and Metro, and that he even thinks they can someday resolve their differences.

Last night, 21 was performing a second show in Toronto. During this performance, he surprised the crowd by bringing out none other than Drake. Of course, seeing as though this was Toronto, the fans were going absolutely wild. The two got to perform some track together, and it was a great moment. Afterward, as Drake left the stage, he declared that Toronto was 21’s city. He also encouraged the artist to perform a couple of extra tracks as the crowd was clearly feeling the show.

Drake x 21

Last night was certainly an interesting one for Drake. This is due to the fact that a reference track started making the rounds online. As many of you already know by now, this reference track was in relation to “Mob Ties” and it came from none other than Vory, who you may remember for his contributions to Donda. Ultimately, this has led to some uncomfortable debates about Drake and his legacy. Only time will tell if fans will just forget about this in a couple of days from now.

Let us know what you think of Drake and 21 Savage, in the comments section down below. How do you feel 21 has handled the feuds Drake has found himself in as of late? Do you think these two might have another collaborative album in them? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

21 Savage Shocks Fans By Bringing Out Drake At His Toronto Show

Drake sightings are big deals these days. The rapper is still reeling from his loss in the Kendrick Lamar battle. The residual effect of the battle is evident in his music, as his last three singles have been flooded with dislikes on YouTube. Nevertheless, the bond between the 6 God and 21 Savage remains strong. The latter performed in Toronto on May 27, and he made good on the underlying hopes of every Her Loss fan by bringing Drake onstage to perform a couple of their joint hits.

Footage from the concert was posted on Instagram by DJ Akademiks. Drake and 21 Savage can be seen hyping up the crowd before jumping into a rendition of their number one single, “Rich Flex.” Drake might have lost the battle to Kendrick, but he still managed to rally the crowd and get them to sing along to the iconic opening lines of the song. The chemistry between Drake and Savage is strong as ever. The latter has actually been one of Drake’s few supporters throughout the 2024 rap wars.

21 Savage And Drake Performed “Rich Flex” Together

On May 12, the rapper hopped on Instagram Live to discuss the tension between Drizzy and Metro Boomin. As far as he was concerned, the two artists were going to eventually set their differences aside. “Don’t keep coming on my motherf*cin’ Live talkin’ about no motherf*ckin’ beef,” he told viewers. “Metro my brother and Drake my brother. They gonna figure that sh*t out eventually.”

This measured response took a turn on May 26, though. 21 Savage kicked Metro Boomin off his IG Live after the producer called him “OVO Savage” in the comments. 21 Savage then clapped back at Metro by quoting Drake’s now iconic “Push Ups” line: “Metro shut your h*e a*s up and make some drums n**ga.” He also got in a few digs of his own. “Oh, you was talking sh*t, b*tch,” he added. “Get off my Live. I’m finna block this n**ga.”

This is not the first time Drake has surprised fans at a 2024 show. On May 1, the 6 God popped up at Nicki Minaj’s Toronto concert to perform their latest single together, “Needle.” He showed Nicki love before telling the crowd that they he had to get back to work aka battling with K. Dot.

T-Pain Gets Down To “Not Like Us” At Las Vegas Show: Watch

Everyone and their mother are involved in this Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud one way or another. Somehow, T-Pain is in this too, after the auto-tune legend was seen dancing to “Not Like Us.” Debatably the biggest song of the entire back-and-forth war, the final stab to chest of Drake has continued to grow. Part of the reason for that is just how much it has been played at various artists’ concerts. Not too long ago, the West Coast anthem was being spun at one of Lil Wayne’s recent shows.

In the end is there really a better way to hype up a crowd than to play this brutal track? Well, the audience members at T-Pain’s Las Vegas show were certainly enjoying watching him get down to the bouncy track. In fact, one fan claims that “It was lit last night, played kdot song about 5x lol.” Another user agrees that it was “lit,” saying, “he was hittin that s*** tho😂

This was just the second tour stop for T-Pain last night. For those who do not know, the legend is in the beginning stages of his Mansion In Wiscansin Party Tour. According to Substream Magazine, this set of shows was named after the famous lyrics in the 2008 hit “Can’t Believe It”. It began on May 25 and it will run through July 3 in Miami. However, things will not be slowing after this solo trek. He will be joining Pitbull for the Party After Dark Tour starting on August 21.

What are your thoughts on T-Pain dancing to “Not Like Us” at his recent show? Do you think he is siding with Kendrick Lamar over Drake? Is this still the best song from the beef, why or why not? Do you believe it is being played to shower more hate on Drizzy, or because it is popular? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Authorities detained Minaj for allegedly carrying drugs with her as she attempted to travel to Manchester. She recorded the incident on Instagram Live before later calling it a “sabotage” of her tour. “They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show,” she wrote on X. “They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane. Now saying they’re waiting on customs. This is what it looks like when ppl are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they’ve done is illegal.” She eventually confirmed that she wouldn’t make it to that night’s show but offered to say hello to fans outside of her hotel. Remy Ma Performs For Seemingly Small Crowd At DC Pride, Fans React

Remy Ma often deals with a lot of trolls online, but when the actual narrative behind the trolling is unclear, it just makes for a messy situation overall. Moreover, a clip recently surfaced of her performing for a seemingly small crowd at DC Pride, which Barbz had a field day with. They clowned the femcee for the show’s size, her performance energy, or just chose to bring up the Nicki Minaj beef once more for good measure. However, one commenter in particular called this a misrepresentative interpretation, as they claimed this was apparently a pre-show event before her actual larger-scale performance for around 5,000 people.

Furthermore, at least this is a bit of a better look for Remy Ma compared to some other recent headlines that have raised eyebrows her way. For those unaware, she received accusations of cheating on Papoose with Eazy The Block Captain, a younger battle rapper. These allegations actually made it so deep into the battle rap space, and their particular lane within it, that Cassidy recently dissed Eazy on a new track. It wasn’t just an “I’m better than you” argument, but one that also brought up this alleged infidelity as an attack.

Remy Ma’s DC Pride… Performance? Pre-Show? See Comments For Fans’ Reactions & Debates

Not only that, but rumors that the two have split based on Remy Ma’s body language at Papoose’s birthday event haven’t really helped this narrative diminish. Either way, there’s a lot of drama going on right now in her life, which definitely has been the case for a couple of years now. It’s hard to not think about the Nicki Minaj beef as a leading cause of that, but it would be overly reductive to solely attribute this to that conflict. After all, there are plenty of ways in which careers don’t necessarily become less impactful, but can see a smaller or more measured reception.

In fact, given that Nicki Minaj had previously vaguely hinted at burying the hatchet with Remy Ma, maybe that’s not an important factor anymore. Still, we’ll see whether there are more widely spread clips of this DC Pride performance in the near future that could prove or disprove the current narrative. She’ll likely have some more releases, performances, and events to look forward to in 2024. Let’s see if they fill up more.
