Kendrick Lamar Joins Star-Studded TDE Christmas Toy Drive Concert

Top Dawg Entertainment has added Kendrick Lamar to the concert lineup for its annual Christmas Toy Drive. The star-studded lineup also includes SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Doechii, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, Ab-Soul, Zacari, and more. The event will mark the company’s 11th time hosting the annual Christmas concert, toy drive, and community giveback since its inception, 20 years ago.

In addition to the artists the label already announced, special guests will also be making appearances. In past years, these have included Rihanna, Chris Brown, Big Sean, and A$AP Ferg. To gain entry, all fans have to do is bring an unwrapped gift as a donation. The two-day event will kick off on Thursday, December 12th with the concert and toy drive, while Friday, December 13th will feature family-friendly activities, a raffle gift giveaway, as well as a job fair. Among the activities will be free haircuts and family holiday photos.

After doing its absolute darnedest to kill cable, Netflix has finally moved into the “replacement” phase of its master plan, embracing live sports as the first beachhead in its efforts to depose the old regime and take over America’s television sets. To that end, it’s launching its NFL On Netflix imperative on Christmas, and who better to help draw eyes (and ears) than one of pop music’s most ubiquitous forces? Beyoncé will be performing at halftime of the Ravens vs. Texans game, and the Houstonian will be there to support her team and promote her Cowboy Carter album in the process.

At least, that’s the takeaway from Bey’s teaser for the performance, which Netflix shared on its social channels just a few minutes ago. In it, Beyoncé lights up a Christmas tree — err, cactus — while sporting a massive cowboy hat and bedazzled in a fuzzy coat and a collar of diamonds. Fanfare blares as the title card announces the performance and the kickoff time for the game, 4:30 PM ET.

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter era has seen her pop up in all sorts of unusual places, but for her, an NFL halftime performance may just feel like a homecoming (heh), after she performed at the Super Bowl halftime show twice, in 2013 and 2016. However, what sets this apart is that it’s the first time the NFL has played on Christmas (traditionally, the NBA’s territory), which warrants her all-star presence — which, again, is backed by Netflix, which probably issued a big-ass check, its own tradition when it comes to “disrupting” established industries.

Coco Jones Is Getting Her Own Presents For Christmas With ‘Santa Is Me’

With Christmas only two weeks away, the new holiday tunes keep rolling in. Coco Jones has contributed four new songs to the Christmas carol canon with her new EP, Coco By The Fireplace. On the focus track, “Santa Is Me,” Ms. Jones takes a different tack from the Eartha Kitt classic “Santa Baby,” declaring her independence with a self-love anthem about supplying all the presents under her own tree.

“Nothing else on my wishlist / Got all I want this Christmas / I get it for myself, ‘cause baby Santa is me,” she sings on the chorus, noting in the second verse, “Don’t need to hide boxes / ‘Cause I know who bought it.”

Coco is a year removed from the tour for her debut EP What I Didn’t Tell You, and kicked off the anticipation for its follow-up with her new single, “Here We Go,” this May. In the meantime, she also made an appearance on Latto’s new album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. For now, there’s no telling what the new year might bring, but fans can enjoy the gift Coco’s just dropped off as they await updates on her eventual album release.

Witnesses say a fight involving four to five individuals broke out after someone threw a drink, escalating into a full-blown altercation. Onlookers report that security swiftly intervened, separating those involved and escorting them out of the venue.

Mariah Carey began her holiday tour after the loss of her mother and sister. Baltimore police confirmed they received no reports of an assault, suggesting the arena’s private security managed the situation internally. The cause of the clash remains unclear. Despite the commotion, Carey carried on with her performance, maintaining her trademark poise and charm. Fans seemed unfazed by the disruption, immersing themselves in the singer’s festive setlist.
