Chloe Bailey Makes Her Solo Debut At The 2021 MTV VMAs With An Exuberant Performance Of ‘Have Mercy’

Chloe Bailey has officially taken the first steps upward in her solo career. The singer delivered her first single as a solo act this past weekend with the release of “Have Mercy.” The track, which is produced by Murda Beatz, came after Chloe spent the last few weeks teasing its release and it also arrived with a captivating video that finds the singer showcasing her singing and dancing talents. Just days after fans got a hold of “Have Mercy,” Chloe brings the song to the 2021 MTV VMAs for an exuberant performance.

The singer’s appearance at this year’s MTV VMAs is her first as a solo act, but it makes for the second overall in her career. Last year, as a part of her Chloe X Halle duo, she performed “Ungodly Hour” from their sophomore album of the same title. It was one of the many performances the duo delivered in 2020 of songs from that album.

Prior to the release of “Have Mercy,” Chloe gave fans an update on her upcoming album. “It’s 90% done,” she said during an interview with Billboard, adding that it’s “definitely more pop.” She added, “I’m creating my own lane, as well as paying homage to the ones who have inspired me,” she continued. “It has been fun finding my voice.”

Chloe Bailey Flaunts Her Assets On The Captivating New Single, ‘Have Mercy’

After weeks of anticipation, Chloe Bailey’s long-awaited debut solo single is finally here, arriving with an exciting video. Chloe shined as a part of a duo with sister Halle, but now it’s time for her to impress as a solo act, something she looks to do with her brand new single, “Have Mercy.” Chloe shows off her dance moves and twerking abilities as a cast of guys watch in awe. The singer is also accompanied by a group of female dancers that keep up with her and seductive moves.

Chloe impressed for years through music and on the small screen in shows like Freeform’s Grown-ish. An excellent example of Chloe’s musical talents came last year with the release of last year’s Ungodly Hour as a part of the Chloe X Halle duo.

“Have Mercy” will appear on the singer’s upcoming album and prior to the track’s release, Chloe delivered an update on the project and teased what kind of music fans can expect to hear on it. “It’s 90% done,” she said about the project, adding that the album “is definitely more pop.” “I’m creating my own lane, as well as paying homage to the ones who have inspired me,” she continued. “It has been fun finding my voice.”

Stunning Promo Photos For Chloe Bailey’s New Solo Single ‘Have Mercy’ Stoked Even More Excitement

As part of the sisterly duo Chloe x Halle, both Chloe and Halle Bailey have become R&B superstars. And, each have been branching off on their own as well, with Halle starring in the new live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, and Chloe prepping to release her first solo single. Of course, there were the dance moves and Instagram videos from Chloe that caught quite a few people’s attention long before the new music was officially announced.

Needless to say, Chloe is coming into her own after the success of Ungodly Hour with her sister, and some behind-the-scenes photos for her upcoming single have only made fans more excited than before for the new single. Chloe has been readying her debut solo track, “Have Mercy,” for a while now, and these photos let fans know that the release will include a video with a strong visual aesthetic of its own.

The photographer and makeup artist behind these new stills, Edwig Henson, shared them on Instagram with the following heartfelt message of support for the singer. “Did makeup and took a few stills of the beautiful @chloebailey. She’s got one the most anticipated songs of the year coming soon! So make sure you support sis when it does. I hope you guys are just as excited as I am! “Have Mercy” on us Chloe.”

Well Edwig, we are. Oh, we are.

Saweetie Interviewed Chloe Bailey For The Second Season Of Her ‘Icy University’ Series

While the world waits for Saweetie to drop Pretty B*tch Music, she seems to be happy doing anything but. As part of her ongoing promo campaign, Saweetie has been hitting all her marks, collaborating with a massive brand like McDonalds, and dropping episodes of her tongue-in-cheek Icy University on Youtube.

Her latest episode of the series is extra special though, because it features none other than breakout star Chloe Bailey of Chloe x Halle fame. After Ungodly Hour turned heads in 2020, Chloe became a breakout star in her own right via some steamy Instagram videos, and is now preparing to release her first solo single, “Have Mercy.” She even dropped some behind-the-scenes promo photos for the new single today that stoked fans excitement even higher.

But in the meantime, Chloe showed up to chat with Saweetie about everything from her new music to self-love and body positivity. Could this connection potentially lead to a collaboration between the two? Perhaps! For now, check out the first episode of Icy University‘s second season up above, and keep an ear out for more new music from both of these women. 2021 isn’t over yet, and there’s still plenty of time for both these ladies to give fans what they want to hear.

The VMAs Add Doja Cat, Chloe Bailey, And Shawn Mendes To Their 2021 Performance Lineup

Last week, MTV unveiled a handful of the artists who will be performing at their 2021 ceremony, and the list included Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, Machine Gun Kelly, and Camila Cabello. Those roster would certainly be enough, but the VMAs tend to go bigger than that, so there were surely more artists to be added. Indeed, more have been: MTV unveiled a handful of new performers, and they are Doja Cat, Chloe Bailey, Shawn Mendes, and Twenty One Pilots.

This is a big one for Bailey (of Chloe x Halle), since it going to be her solo debut. She’ll be performing her single “Have Mercy” from her upcoming solo album. Meanwhile, Mendes is set to perform his recent single “Summer Of Love,” and Twenty One Pilots will perform “Saturday,” It’s not clear what song(s) Doja will perform yet, but what we do know is that she’s up for five awards this year.

The nominees for this year’s show (which is set for September 12, by the way) are led by Justin Bieber and Megan Thee Stallion, who have seven and six nominations this year, respectively.

Lil Nas X Gives Chloe Bailey’s ‘Flaunt’ Cover Photoshoot A Raunchy Compliment

Beyonce-approved pop R&B duo Chloe X Halle are reunited now that Halle has completed filming Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid and to commemorate the occasion, the Bailey sisters appeared on matching covers of Flaunt magazine earlier this week. Posing in Fendi in contrasting water/fire-themed shoots, the sisters drew outsized reactions on social media when they posted their respective photos — including from peers like Lil Nas X, who had a raunchy, borderline-NSFW compliment for older sister Chloe and her shoot.

Responding to Chloe’s tweet posting a pair of fiery stills from her cover story, Nas — who may be attracted to men but apparently isn’t above handing out thirsty comments on women’s sexy pics too — wrote, “no disrespect but u need yo ass ate for this because wow.” Far from being offended by the fresh reply, Chloe responded with a string of emojis and a “thank you boo.” Judging by the replies in the thread, their mutual fans were bemused by the comment, considering Nas’ orientation, which he made pretty explicit in his recent “Industry Baby” video.

Both artists are currently working toward releasing new projects; while Lil Nas X is nearer each day to releasing his debut album, Chloe has been teasing her first solo single, “Have Mercy,” sharing a pre-save link this week.

Fans Compare Halle Bailey To Solange After She Fiercely Defends Her Sister Chloe From An Online Troll

It’s natural that sister act Chloe X Halle draws comparisons to Beyonce since they’re signed to the pop queen’s management company Parkwood Entertainment. However, today, they’re drawing a different sort of comparison after younger sister Halle Bailey fiercely defended her older sister Chloe from a Twitter troll’s criticism, reminding fans of Beyonce’s own younger sister Solange’s staunch support of Beyonce.

Paying a backhanded compliment to the elder Bailey sister, the Twitter comment read, “I feel like Chloe Bailey is cute but y’all be overhyping shawty.” When Halle caught wind of the offending tweet, she responded sweetly, “Girl, let’s not start. Be blessed!! God loves you too!!!” And although the words — and the accompanying collection of angelic and shushing emojis — came across as “nice,” the Little Mermais star thinly veiled the implied threat behind them: Don’t start none, won’t be none. The offending tweet was apparently deleted and the original poster locked their account.

The banter instantly set fans buzzing, shooting “Halle” onto Twitter’s trending topics, and prompting fans to recall the bond between the Knowles sisters and Solange’s method of defending her sister. Of course, in that instance, rather than exchanging words with the offending party, Solange resolved to speak with her hands, resulting in the infamous elevator confrontation with Jay-Z and a half-dozen bars on the next three projects from Beyonce and Jay-Z.

Chloe Bailey Has Been Cast In The Creator+ Psychological Thriller ‘Jane’

Chloe and Halle Bailey of R&B duo Chloe X Halle have proven to be a multitalented pair. Not only are they one of music’s most sought-after new acts, performing on awards shows, sporting events, and corporate livestreams throughout the pandemic in lieu of touring, but they are also both accomplished actresses. While they both appear on Black-ish spinoff Grown-ish as the athletic Forster twins (in reality, Chloe is two years older), Halle is headed to the big screen in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid in the title role.

While Chloe has seemingly been content to work on solo music while the sisters are separated by Halle’s shooting schedule, it appears the elder sister is ready to pursue her own movie career. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chloe has been cast in Jane, the debut feature film from Creator+, an upstart movie studio/streaming platform aimed toward Zoomers and digital creators — two categories Chloe X Halle clearly fall under and appeal to greatly. Produced by and starring Riverdale‘s Madelaine Petsch, Jane is described as a psychological thriller exploring “social media anxiety and mental health from the perspective of a high school student.”

The film will also feature model Chloe Yu, Shrill actor Ian Owens, and Oscar-winner Melissa Leo, most recently of Netflix’s Thunder Force. Creator+, founded by former YouTube executive Benjamin Grubbs, is set to launch in the first quarter of 2022.
