The Game Says He Regrets Comments On Kanye West & Dr. Dre

The Game has admitted that he regrets his controversial comments on Kanye West and Dr. Dre. Appearing on Amazon Music’s Bars and Nuggets podcast, Game explained that he was drunk during the infamous Drink Champs interview. At the time, he had argued that West did more for him in the previous two weeks than Dre through his entire career.

“So basically I was hollering at N.O.R.E. and them a little inebriated,” he explained in the interview. “And I said some things that I meant. I’m not gon’ take it back—I ain’t no sucker. But having Dre do anything for your project, anything in your career, touch any part of anything you’re doing in life is such a blessing that I shall not ever s**t on that again.”

“And I haven’t talked to Dre since. And it don’t really matter if we talk again in life,” he continued. “Like, I’m a standup Compton, L.A. n***a and it is what it is. I said what I said, I’m not going back on it. It’s just that I should have actually gave him more grace for what he did do and that was actually mentoring me and doing things that nobody could have done for me in my career.”

“When I was talking on there, I was speaking in terms of what Ye was doing right at that moment which was life-changing for me in that moment last year,” he added. “And then I based it on Dre’s lack thereof because I took the business part personal and I should have left it business. But Dre is Dre, bro. We all know what Dr. Dre do.”

The Game Reflects On Dr. Dre & Kanye West Comments

Prior to the Drink Champs interview, The Game had collaborated with Ye on the song, “Eazy,” which became his highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in almost 15 years. Check out more about his original comments below.

Ice Spice Declined XXL Freshman Cover Due To Scheduling Conflicts, Source Says

XXL recently revealed their Freshman class of 2023, and fans were quick to wonder why Ice Spice wasn’t included. According to sources, the viral Bronx drill rapper did have the opportunity to be a part of this year’s Freshman class, but she declined. They claim that she turned the cover down due to her busy schedule. As she’s been releasing various ultra-successful hits as of late, it’s clear that the young rapper would have been a shoe-in for the cover. However, seeing as though she’s taking over this year’s festival season, it’s understandable that she’s working with an incredibly busy schedule.

Ice Spice is in high demand, blowing up this year for her work alongside Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and Pinkpantheress. She recently hit over one billion streams on Spotify, unsurprising considering the magnitude of her success in such a short time. The Bronx icon also has more songs on the Billboard Hot 100 than any other artist in 2023. In her Billboard cover story last month, her manager, James Rosemond Jr., revealed that she has herself to thank. “No one on the label side touches the music,” he claims, “There is no traditional A&R with her. No one’s picking beats, no one’s saying, ‘Do this, do that.’ It’s all her. We’re on her schedule.

They’ve garnered attention and dedicated fanbases for their high-profile collabs and distinct sounds.

This year’s Freshman issue will be available on July 18, and will also feature interviews with Boosie Badazz, Lil Baby, NLE Choppa, and more. Over the next few weeks XXL will be releasing interviews, cyphers, freestyles, and more highlighting each artist. The class of 2023’s cyphers will also be produced by Pi’erre Bourne.

Ice Spice Reflects On Rise To Fame: “I Don’t Think Anybody Is Ever Fully Prepared”

Ice Spice recently discussed her meteoric rise to superstardom during an interview with Teen Vogue. In speaking with the outlet, the Bronx rapper admitted that she wasn’t entirely prepared to become famous seemingly overnight. Since releasing her viral song “Munch (Feelin’ U),” last August, Ice Spice has attended the 2023 Met Gala, and released collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, among other feats.

Of her success, Ice Spice told Teen Vogue that she’s most proud of her ability to stay humble. “I’m most proud of staying grounded so far because I’ve already been through so many things that I know a lot of people would’ve lost their f*cking minds,” she explained. “The whole lifestyle change is super drastic, especially coming from where I come from, not coming from sht and not having a lot growing up, to now — it’s the complete opposite…. Even though it’s a positive change, it’s still a change.”

She continued: “I don’t think anybody is ever fully prepared for fame. There’s no book on how to do it. I feel like everybody could just learn as they go, like most people do in their careers. A lot of people be trying to compare me to people that are way older than me or people that have been in this sh*t way longer than me.” Check out Ice Spice’s cover for Teen Vogue below.

Killer Mike Reveals 50 Cent Damaged His Early Career

Killer Mike, a beloved member of Run The Jewels, is well-known for his commitment to his solo career. His upcoming solo album, Michael, is set to be released next week. As such, he is featured as the cover star for Spin magazine. In an accompanying article written by Khari Nixon, the cost of bringing Killer Mike’s vision for Michael to life is revealed. At the beginning of the project, Cuz Lightyear, a collaborator of Killer Mike, took on the official role of A&R. For this role, he received a salary. This is typical, but what is not typical is that the rapper paid it out of his own pocket.

By the time Killer Mike enlisted No ID to transform the project from a mixtape to an album, he had already spent over a quarter of a million dollars. As the project progressed, this amount increased to over half a million dollars. Typically, such a large bill would create issues with a record label. However, at the time, Killer Mike was not signed to any label. Eventually, he struck a deal with Loma Vista Records. They are known for distributing records by artists like Denzel Curry and Action Bronson. They will now distribute Michael upon its release. Luckily, the advance from this deal reimbursed the rapper for the money he had invested in making the album.

Killer Mike Says Comparisons To 50 Cent’s Sales Hurt Him

In his interview with Spin, Killer Mike also revealed that 50 Cent may have unknowingly “damaged” his early career. However, that is simply because Mike compared his sales to 50’s sales. The two were both on a major label. However, 50 Cent far outsold Killer Mike. “My first record deal damaged me. It made me afraid, it pulled me back. I hadn’t done terribly on the major,” he said. “I just, you know, I came out the same year as 50, selling 10 million f*cking records.” Killer Mike went on to say the experience made him realize he is more comfortable with independent artists.

Recently, Killer Mike gave fans a taste of what his new solo album has to offer. He has released two singles from the album thus far. First, there was “Don’t Let The Devil” featuring El-P. Killer Mike followed that up with “Motherless” featuring Eryn Allen Kane. Furthermore, he also released videos for the tracks which conjured up imagery of summers in the rural South. The catchy production with the soul and emotional lyricism made for a strong first and second showing of the album. What do you thin

Carmelo Anthony Has No Regret About Retiring Without A Ring

Carmelo Anthony officially retired from the NBA on May 22, ending a 19-year career as one of the deadliest shooters to ever play in the league. There were many accolades that came alongside Anthony’s career – 10 all-star appearances, and six All-NBA team nominations. However, the one thing that Anthony ends his career without is an NBA ring.

Despite Anthony’s talent, the various teams in his career were never quite in title contention. The closest Melo came was in the 2008-09 season, when the Denver Nuggets reached the Western Conference Finals. However, the Nuggets fell to the eventual champion Lakers in six games.

No Rings, No Regrets for Melo

However, Melo has no regrets about retiring without a ring. “I’m at peace,” Melo said to Sports Illustrated, “That doesn’t bother me no more; that idea that you’re a loser if you don’t win a championship. For me, I’ve won. I won back in 2003, the night I shook David Stern’s hand on that [draft] stage,” Anthony said. “I made it out of Red Hook. I’ve won at life. The ring is the only thing I didn’t get. It would’ve been a great accomplishment, but I don’t regret it, because I feel like I did everything I could to get it.”

Now, Anthony turns his attention to his son. Sixteen-year-old Kiyan Anthony currently has 11 collegiate offers, including from Melo’s alma mater Syracuse as well as the likes of Tennessee, Memphis, UMass, and Illinois. However, Melo also revealed that his one season with the Lakers, his last season in the NBA, was because of Kiyan. Despite vowing to retire when Kiyan started high school, his son pushed him for one last season. “Then [as he started high school] the Lakers called, and he told me, ‘Dad, I’ll be O.K., you should go.’ Even with LeBron there, I wouldn’t have done it without Kiyan pushing me. So to be able to spend time with him in the gym, on his work ethic? With school? I can be a father to him every day. It’s perfect timing.”

Flo Milli Urges Fans To Stop With The Ice Spice Comparisons

Flo Milli is a fantastic artist who has been putting out some dope tracks and projects as of late. Unfortunately, a lot of women rappers are always being compared to each other. Overall, this is mostly because hip-hop is a space dominated by men. Consequently, people will pit the women against each other to see who the best is, since there aren’t as many to compare. Flo Milli has not been able to escape these comparisons as her career always gets put under the microscope.

This is especially true now that Ice Spice is out on the scene. Fans absolutely adore Ice Spice. However, others feel like the hype is unwarranted. Flo Milli’s art is much more lyrical than Ice Spice’s. This has subsequently led to people taking to social media, saying Flo should be much more popular than Spice. Flo Milli, on the hand, wants this all to stop immediately. While taking to Twitter, she urged her fans to stop with the unnecessary comparisons.

Flo Milli Speaks Out

“I wish yall would stop with this tired ass narrative yall love to push about my career,” she wrote. “And stop mentioning me while trying to degrade another artist its WEIRDDD. im doing great I went from being broke to traveling the world with my talent and im only 23.. pls RELAX.” Overall, this is a great mentality to have. Flo Milli wants it to be crystal clear that she is not about putting other people down. Moreover, she is objectively correct. She has accomplished more than others could ever dream of. Ice Spice is thriving as well, and they should be able to co-exist without weirdos making it an issue.

In the future, perhaps we could even see a collaboration between these two. And if we don’t, that’s okay too. Fans are too quick to turn things into a competition these days. This is especially true when you factor in social media, which ruins our perception of things. Let us know what you think about Flo Milli and her comments, down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest news and updates from around the music world.

Nicki dropped her debut, Pink Friday, back in 2010 with features from Eminem, Rihanna, Drake, will.i.am, Kanye West, and Natasha Bedingfield. The tracklist boasted several iconic singles including “Super Bass,” “Moment 4 Life,” and more. It sold 375,000 copies in its first week, debuting at number two on the US Billboard 200. Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy happened to release the same week.

After sharing many of her most iconic looks from over the years, Nicki added: “My legacy can never be undone. On the mood boards for the last 14 years. But anyway guys let’s go back to the stats & the show footage. We’re almost there.”

Many fans on social media took the opportunity to join in the praise of Nicki Minaj. On a post of the tweets by The Neighborhood Talk, one fan commented, “Some people like to try and rewrite history & Nicki is just showing that she already made that history.” Another reflected on Nicki’s beef with Cardi B: “I wish she acted her status!! Iconic yes but she should’ve never been bothered by CardiB because she was the Beyoncé of rap. Beyoncé would never come off the throne because Sza had a run. She’s so bothered by Cardi, I guess now she sees how Lil Kim felt.” Check out Nicki Minaj’s recent posts on Twitter below.

Lil Wayne Reflects To Missy Elliott How “Tha Carter III” Changed His Career

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III is undoubtedly one of the best hip-hop albums of the 2000s, whether for its quality or its influence. What’s more is that Weezy got the chance to reflect on how the 2008 classic changed his career with his favorite rapper Missy Elliott across the room. Moreover, their conversation will form part of TV One’s upcoming “UNCENSORED” series, which will touch on many different perspectives and careers. Furthermore HipHopDX obtained a clip on Friday (May 5) that provides some insight into the two’s interview. During their talk, he spoke on how the metrics of success have changed, and how Tha Carter III brought him to previously unimaginable heights.

“I think that was the first time for me I started really getting that praise,” Lil Wayne told Missy Elliott. “I started really loving it, embracing it, at that time around that album was when I was seeing people in the street or hearing from other artists, so the confidence was strong.” For those unaware, Tha Carter III became the fourth-ever hip-hop project to sell over a million units in its first week.

Missy Elliot Hears Lil Wayne Reminisce On Tha Carter III

“I come from the days we as in artists — we as in Juvenile and B.G. we checking the Billboard magazine to see where this and that. That don’t exist now,” Lil Wayne continued. “When we dropped Tha Block Is Hot it sold like 114,000 or 95,000 the first week and that was the equivalent or the impact of selling a million and I remember I was like, ‘I can’t do nothing but thank God.’” Overall, it was quite the sweet moment, especially considering how much Missy Elliott and Tunechi admire each other.

That would be why I was making so many sounds,” he said of her talents. “Missy was into the who- brrrrr- the whole heeheeheeHA. And so when Mannie Fresh would get you in the studio, he gon’ remind you ‘hey, you need to throw that ha ha in there.’ I was like ‘man, he want me to do a sound for every damn line!’ And so the ‘Block Burner’ song was my best favorite song because my favorite artist was Missy Elliott.” On her end, the “Lobby” MC praised the Young Money boss’ impact. “You have Birthed a whole generation after you & Its easy for people to acknowledge Some1’s GREATNESS when their no longer around but I want you to know YOU ARE LEGENDARY no matter who thinks differently,” she tweeted. “YOUR BLUEPRINT is PRESENT! No debate.” For more on Missy Elliott and Lil Wayne, return to HNHH.

Dave East Details What Motivates Him

Dave East reflected on his growth as an artist during a recent interview with HipHopDX. He explained to the outlet that his focus is no longer on building the popularity of his brand but instead gaining respect from his peers. The New York rapper will be turning 35 years old later this year.

“I feel like the shit that used to excite me doesn’t anymore, and the things that were my early drive isn’t my drive anymore,” East revealed to the outlet. “My first drive was to get out the projects, and now it’s like what’s pushing me now?” He added: “What’s pushing me is the respect of my peers where they’ll see me and shout out what I’m doing or seeing fans from all backgrounds with a Dave East lyric tatted on them that tells me with the time I been in this shit, I did me enough to the point that someone bought into it and wants to see where else I take this shit.”

East added that he’s also working to sustain the success that he’s been able to find through this point in his career. Additionally, he wants to expand outside of advancing only himself. “Now I’m really trying to boss up a little more. I did me as Dave East, and I’m putting my hands in different things, shit I’m not even familiar with but always wanted to tap into,” he explained. “I’m trying to stay out the way and expand because now there’s others coming after me that’s family and little bros that have a vision, and I have a platform to help them with that.”

While best known for his work in music, East has been working on an acting career for years by this point. He appeared in BET’s Being Mary Jane and VH1’s The Breaks as well as Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga. In that series, he portrays the rapper, Method Man.
