On this date in 2004, Cam’Ron released his fourth solo album entitled ‘Purple Haze’ released on the Diplomats, Roc-A-Fella, and Def Jam imprints.

This was the first solo album from the Dipset capo following the Dipset craze, where he switched from his obsession with the color pink to the more regal purple. Songs such as the anthemic “Down And Out” featuring a fairly new artist named Kanye West and Syleena Johnson, “Bubble Music” and “Adrenaline” featuring Twista and Psycho Drama help to popularize the highly anticipated album that took about a year to be released following several label delays during the Roc-A-Fella break up.

The album was propelled by samples from old soul and reggae music, which only helped to add to the LP’s popularity.

Salute to Cam, Dipset, and everyone involved with this timeless Hip Hop gem!

[WATCH] SOURCE SPORTS: Camron And Ma$e Explain Why They Turned Down The Opportunity To Walk Mike Tyson To The Ring In Jake Paul Fight

On a recenrt episode of their sports talk show It Is What It Is, rappers turned sportscasters Camron and Ma$e explain ow they were offered the opportunity to walk Mike Tyson out in his upcoming fight against Jake Paul and why they turned it down.

“They offered us the walkout with Mike Tyson,” the Dipset head honcho said. “This was before this incident and I’m like, ‘I’m not sure if I want to do that.’ Now, I’m probably not going to do it.” Cam continued, “‘Cause I don’t want n-ggas blaming me for nothing when n-ggas don’t win. Like when Devin [Haney] lost [to Ryan Garcia], n-ggas said, ‘Why he wearing Balenciaga sneakers?’ […] If we walk Mike out and Mike don’t win, I don’t know if I need that type of pressure.”

The former Bad Boy rapper chimed in, suggesting that Tyson’s ulcer problem was a cope out for the upcoming fight, explaining, “I hope Mike is well […] but it sounds like Mike is trying to get a way out,” he said. “I know he shouldn’t need one but if they took him off this plane, we want to make sure he’s well. But are we having a fight or not? Is the fight still on? Before this, I had Mike winning the fight. Now, I don’t know.”

[WATCH] Cam’ron CNN Interview Goes Left After He Was Asked About Diddy’s Assault Video

Screenshot 2024 05 21 at 9.42.20 AM

Sports host and former Roc-A-Fella rapper Cam’ron appeared on CNN yesterday(May 20) for an interview about the disturbing 2016 video of Diddy assaulting Cassie in the InterContinental Hotel in L.A. and to say that the sit down did not go as planned by the news giant is an understatement.

Newsnight host Abby Phillip didn’t take waste time questioning the Dipset founder about Diddy and whether or not Cam noticed the man in the surveillance video to which Cam sharply responded, “I don’t know him like that. What do you mean did I recognize him? I seen him. What do you mean my experiences?” The interview seemed to take the most unexpected turn when Phillip asked Cam about the Bad Boy mogul’s disgraceful apology video, where Diddy said he was sorry for his actions, but he did not apologize directly to Cassie because their settlement doesn’t allow him to say Cassie’s name in public.

Cam, in a frustrated tone, replied to Phillip, “The apology ain’t for me to decide, it’s for Cassie. He ain’t do nothing for me. What I think about it don’t matter.” In the middle of their banter, Cam takes down a shot of PinkHorsePower, a sexual enhancement drink popular in NYC bodegas, with Cam proudly boasting he was going to get “some cheeks” after downing the shot.

Phillip didn’t make things better when she asked if the rap industry protected DIddy from being held accountable for his heinous actions. In the most embarrassing manner for the network, Cam asked, “Who booked me for this joint?”

[WATCH] Cam’ron And Mase Laugh At Artists Signing To Roc Nation Who Think They’re Getting A Verse From Jay-Z

Screenshot 2024 03 21 at 8.56.25 AM

NBA star Lebron James recently launched his new “Mind The Game” podcast with JJ Reddick, which led Draymond Green to saying that he had “a bone to pick” with James. Draymond stated, “I’m a little upset that LeBron James is going on a podcast, and he still hasn’t been on ‘The Draymond Green Show.’ But when it’s your own thing, you kind of can’t say anything, so I guess I’ll live with it for now. Pick the bone with him that I got to pick with him later.”

Cam’ron and Mase, the hosts of It Is What It Is sports podcast, reacted to Green’s statement, with Cam’ron comparing it to artists signing to Roc Nation and thinking they’re getting a verse from Jay-Z. Cam’ron and Mase laughed at the thought , with Cam adding that artists will get the Paper Planes hat and a “vintage pair of S. Dots.”

[WATCH] SOURCE SPORTS: Ma$e Says He’d Average More Points In Today’s NBA Than Most Players In The League

Screenshot 2024 03 07 at 7.28.17 AM

On the most recent episode of It Is What It Is podcast, co-host Ma$e claimed that if he played in today’s NBA, he feels “like I could play against these n-ggas.”

Making a very bold, yet possibly realistic statement as a former high school b-ball standout, the former Bad Boy artist said after speaking about Lebron dropping 40,000 points in his career, “40,000 points is a remarkable feat. I just think it’s a cupcake league, for real. I think in this league today, if I was in top shape, I could probably average about 15, 16. I’m just keeping it real,” he chuckled. The former Manhattan Center shooting guard added, “When I ain’t make it in my generation, I felt like, yeah, it was a few n-ggas that was probably better than me. This generation? I feel like I could play against these n-ggas.”

Go to the 29:00 mark of the podcast to hear Ma$e’s commentary:

Ma$e even added his former teammate and co-host Camron to the convo, saying, “I think Killa, you coulda probably played 20 years against these n-ggas today. You woulda averaged probably about 18.”

Cam replied, “In my prime? Maybe. I’d have to work on my jump shot. They didn’t let us shoot jump shots. Crazy shit it, I had a great jump shot when I stopped playing basketball. When we played basketball, coach would almost want to assassinate you if shot a jump shot. You had to go to the basket.”

Cam’ron Takes On The New GQ Magazine Cover

unnamed 28

Well-renowned rapper and now popular sports talk show host Cam’ron graces the latest GQ Magazine cover. Cam’ron was previously featured in Billboard Magazine and became the face of Kith’s Spring 2022 collection. Kith collaborated with Cam’ron and Swiss Beats for their “Last Stop” single.

In the interview, Cam’ron discussed with the magazine how he grew “It Is What It Is” to one of the hottest sports shows in the past calendar year. It also sheds light on how the show became a reconciliation between the Harlemites, Cam’ron, and Ma$e. The article expounded on their rekindled relationship as GQ writer Frazier Tharpe wrote:

“For all the laugh-out-loud moments they produce, ‘It Is What It Is’ yields some genuinely touching moments. ‘Me and Mase are kind of the same n-gga,’” Cam says, “There’s a lot of shit me and him been through that other people that I’m around may not know. Me and him remembering a lot of shit that we did [in real time] is super cool. Because sometimes he’ll bring up some shit that I forgot about, or vice versa.” An interaction that started off jokey turned emotional when Cam asked Mase on-air why he took him directly to B.I.G. instead of Bad Boy proper. Mase takes a moment to carefully phrase his response: “Biggie would do right by you.” Last week, on a show taped on Cam’s birthday, Mase gave him $20,000—a stack for every year that they did not speak. Cam said he’d likely just spend the money on a gift for Mase.
