Bruiser Wolf & Zack Fox Trade Fantastic Verses On “Mountain Lion”

Bruiser Wolf has become one of hip-hop’s lovable goofballs/personalities this year. This all thanks to the tutelage of Detroit legend and underground stalwart Danny Brown. He made his big appearance on the latter’s Quaranta album from last November on the track “Y.B.P.” This has helped push his solo career, which did start at the top of 2024, to new heights. He dropped “Dope Boy,” which would go on to be the lead and only single for his breakout project, My Story Got Stories. He did have a 2021 tape Dope Game Stupid, but this one is going to help push him into the spotlight much more.

Since that project’s release, Bruiser Wolf has gone on to give us his F1LTHY collab “Rope Chain” (a pretty big surprise) and “Brick Up” prior to that. With that in mind, there’s a chance we are heading toward another new tape, perhaps near the beginning of 2025. We say that because we are back listening to another single from Bruiser Wolf, “Mountain Lion.” It features another undergrounder in Zack Fox, who brings along a longtime producer along for the ride, CONNIE. The producer gives them a stripped back instrumental, which is pretty much sample flip that features the repetition of “loving you” woven into each of their verses. It’s got a nice guitar riff laced in as well, but this track is more about Bruiser and Zack’s stellar yet totally different portions, tonally speaking.

Quotable Lyrics:

Kid with the most knowledge will obtain the touch of top dollars
I’m in the Trackhawk playin’ Tremaine Hawkins
Engineered Garments, we walk in this b**** like the Parliament
Don’t get your twat cleaned, I ain’t got time to squabble
Keep in mind, quarter til on my hip and it’s not an ornament
My default aura is Arthur’s fist

Bruiser Wolf Unexpectedly Collabs With Producer F1LTHY For “Rope Chain” Single

Bruiser Wolf is one of the more interesting characters you are going to encounter in the hip-hop world today. He features a truly one-of-a-kind delivery on top of zig-zagging flows and wild bars. It makes that sense that Detroit underground legend Danny Brown would sign him to his recent Bruiser Brigade record label. All of Bruiser’s albums, two to be exact, are under that roof. Dope Game Stupid would be his debut in 2021 with his sophmore effort arriving earlier this year. My Story Got Stories would include features from Danny, Zelooperz, Trinidad James, and more. His 2023 was also eventful thanks to a feature on Brown’s standout return project Quaranta. But for 2024, Bruiser Wolf is looking to keep his momentum going with “Rope Chain”.

This is his second release post My Story Got Stories, with “Brick Up” back in March being the previous offering. Bruiser Wolf began to tease “Rope Chain” just over a week ago on his social media pages and fans were pretty ecstatic to get it. That excitement partially stems from the fact that he got producer F1LTHY for this record. “Bruh what in the hell is this gonna sound like”, one user replied to the IG announcement. “WTF IS THIS COLLAB????? IM HERE FOR IT😭”, another added. F1LTHY is known for his extensive work with artists such as Playboi Carti, and even others like Drake, Lil Yachty, and more. Pit his wavy and atmospheric production up against Bruiser’s zany style and you have a truly interesting combo. You can hear what they cooked up on “Rope Chain” with the audio link below.

Bruiser Wolf Is Wildly Zany On “My Story Got Stories” Album

Danny Brown made a great comeback at the tail end of 2023. He came through with his first solo album in four years with Quaranta. It was a follow up to his 2012 record XXX to show how much he has gone through in his life in the last 10 years. The project had tons of standouts on it, including Y.B.P. with Bruiser Wolf.

On top of Brown’s solo work, he is also working more often with his label, Bruiser Brigade. Bruiser Wolf is one of his talents he is working up and he also hails from Detroit like Danny. Wolf shares more than just a hometown, though. His style is very experimental and underground. His cadence and flows are nowhere near conventional.

Listen To My Story Got Stories By Bruiser Wolf

His influences are clear on My Story Got Stories, his second project in a very spare career. Bruiser Wolf also emanates E-40 with the sporadicity in his delivery. One of the wildest moments on the record has to be “2 Bad” with Danny and Zelooperz. He combines the beats from DMX’s “Party Up” and “1Train” by A$AP Rocky. It works out suprisingly well and is one you need to hear for yourself. If you looking for something outside the box, check out Wolf’s tape.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album My Story Got Stories, by Bruiser Wolf? Is this the best body of work he has ever put out, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward so far? Rising Detroit Rapper Bruiser Wolf Explains How He Separated Himself From The Pack

Danny Brown is a unique, head-turning rapper. He seems to have a keen eye for other idiosyncratic artists as well: Bruiser Wolf, an artist on Brown’s Bruiser Brigade Records label, has drawn critical praise for standing out on his new album, Dope Game Stupid. As Wolf makes his ascent, a new Magnum Scenes video (presented by Uproxx in partnership with Magnum) looks at where Wolf has been and where he’s going.

The Detroit rapper was once known as Big Wolf, but he says he tweaked his name to show his appreciation for his label and his fellow artists on it: “I used to be Big Wolf. Changed it when I got with the Bruiser Brigade. All fire MC’s, fire producers. […] To let them know that this forever, I put ‘Bruiser’ in front of my name, like a badge of honor for me, to express my loyalty.”

Between footage of Wolf showing off his home and life, his Bruiser Brigade compatriots share praise for his unique style. “He’s a poet and a comedian at the same time,” ZelooperZ noted. J.U.S. also declared, “I ain’t heard nobody rap like that in so long.” Meanwhile, Brown praised his “very distinctive voice that’s going to separate him from the pack.”

Elsewhere in the video, Wolf and his peers tell the story of his career so far, and it’s full of terrific anecdotes, including some avian coincidences that tie in to the distinctive Dope Game Stupid cover art. Check out the full video above.
