Dennis Rodman is Going to Russia to Help Brittney Griner: “I Know Putin Too Well”

Dennis Rodman is Going to Russia to Help Brittney Griner

Dennis Rodman is planning a trip to Russia to assist Brittney Griner. The Bulls and Pistons legend met with President Vladimir Putin years ago and thinks he can be of assistance in freeing Griner from her nine-year sentence.

Speaking with NBC News, Rodman revealed that he is planning to make another visit to Russia to help. “I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl. I’m trying to go this week.”

During his visit to Russia in 2014, Rodman had a meeting with Putin, resulting in him calling the President “cool as fuck.” In addition, Rodman previously met with North Korean leader Kim Jun Un. In regards to the relationship with Putin, he said, “I know Putin too well.”

Last week, Fredro Starr offered his opinion on the sentence of Brittney Griner and thinks it’s cap. The Onyx rapper stated Griner is a political pawn, and he has first-hand knowledge because he has smoked weed all through Russia.

“Russia is Onyx’s biggest market and we were supposed to go Russia a month before her,” Starr opened. “I would never bring weed, but a weed pen is different. She got caught up in some political shit, and it’s fucked up.”

Speaking with Vlad TV, Starr states he smoked before in the country, and recreational use is more common than we would believe it is following reports about Griner. Starr would even go forth to state that weed in Russia is better than some of that is found in California.

“Russia’s different. Russia likes hip-hop. Russia has weed growers; they got weed out there,” Starr said. “Real shit, indoor, poppin. I smoke mad weed in Russia every time I go there, better than Cali, Turks, all that. For a weed pen? Come on, man. She got caught up. It’s not that serious.”

Boosie Insists The Brittney Griner Situation Would Be Much Different If It Was Taylor Swift In Prison

Yesterday’s (August 4) news was not good for Brittney Griner: The WNBA star was found guilty on drug charges in Russia and sentenced to nine years in prison. Ever since the basketball player was first detained in March, there has been outrage about the situation, with a new wave of it coming after yesterday’s ruling. Boosie Badazz in particular had a passionate reaction, in which he pointed fingers.

In a video shared after the news broke, Boosie implies race is an issue when it comes to the United States’ efforts to free Griner, using a Taylor Swift comparison to make his point. He says, “How the hell this girl get nine years for a weed pen… and the USA ain’t doing nothing about it? You tell me that! If that was Taylor Swift, it’d be a peace treaty right now! They’d be drafting to go to war!”

He then set his sights on Vice President Kamala Harris, continuing, “What that show for Black women in the United States?! And the Vice President: as a Black woman, you supposed to be on the front line! You supposed to be on the front line to get that Black woman out of jail! Nine damn years! Y’all f*cked up in this world!”

Biden Administration Proposes Deal To Get Brittney Griner Out Of Russian Prison

Brittney Griner

Brittney Griner might be coming back to the United States soon. The WNBA star was arrested in February after she was caught with vape cartridges with hash oil in her luggage at the Sheremetyevo International Airport. Since then, her story has been shared across the news and social media and many have pleaded for her release.

According to CNN , the Biden Administration has proposed a prisoner trade with Russia; trading Griner and American Paul Whelan, both Americans imprisoned in Russia, for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout who is currently imprisoned in the United States.

Members of the Biden Administration who are close to the situation said that Biden approved the proposal back in June, 4 months after Griner was arrested.

A senior Biden Administration official told CNN that “We communicated a substantial offer that we believe could be successful based on a history of conversations with the Russians. … It takes two to tango. We start all negotiations to bring home Americans held hostage or wrongfully detained with a bad actor on the other side. We start all of these with somebody who has taken a human being American and treated them as a bargaining chip. So in some ways, it’s not surprising, even if it’s disheartening, when those same actors don’t necessarily respond directly to our offers, don’t engage constructively in negotiations.”

Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that he plans to discuss bringing home Griner and Whelan during a conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov this week. This would be his first conversation with Lavrov since the war in Ukraine began.

“My hope would be that in speaking to Foreign Minister Lavrov, I can advance the efforts to bring them home,” Blinken said. “There is in my mind utility in conveying clear, direct messages to the Russians on key priorities for us. And as I mentioned, these include securing the return home of Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan.”

Griner faces 10 years in a Russian prison after pleading guilty to the drug charges. Griner maintained that she was in a rush and did not mean to break the law.

“I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent… I didn’t want to break the law,” Griner said.
