Tory Lanez Becomes The First Artist To Achieve This Impressive Streaming Feat

While Tory Lanez is currently behind bars for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, his music and fanbase are still as active as ever. Moreover, he recently dropped some new tracks for his die-hards to enjoy, “Know What You Need” and “Shots Come For Free,” after figuring out a way to record music from prison. But the Canadian artist is also seeing a lot of success with his previously released tracks, with his song “The Color Violet” marking a never-before-seen career feat. The record now has over 1 billion streams across all platforms, thus becoming the first song ever from any artist to do so with zero playlist support.

This description is a little vague, but we assume that it means that platforms like Spotify and Apple Music did not include “The Color Violet” on their curated, editorial, or official playlists. Tory Lanez should be very proud of this achievement, and very grateful to his fanbase for their support despite his actions. This news also arrives amid more curious and odd news concerning him, as his good friend Adin Ross suggested that he would ask Donald Trump to pardon him and set him free if he’s elected.

Tory Lanez’s “The Color Violet” Is The First Of Its Kind In The Streaming World

Elsewhere, Tory Lanez also told Adin Ross via a phone call that he graduated high school while incarcerated and enrolled in college. “I’m great,” he expressed. “I know that a lot of people sometimes when they hear prison or they hear somebody’s down, they think n***as in the corner somewhere bawling his eyes out,” remarking on his “great space” mentally and “bettering [himself] in every single way.”

“A n***a just graduated high school, enrolled in college,” Tory Lanez added. “Never thought I’d do that. But I’m taking this moment and I’m taking advantage over everything that’s good. I’m a f***ing high school dropout that just graduated high school. That s**t matters to me. So, it’s the small things that just have me feeling good about life right now.” There’s still a lot of baggage left over from the Megan Thee Stallion case, but it’s clear that this singular moment will not define his life and career, regardless of whether you support him, like his art, or not.

Kendrick Lamar Continues To Break Spotify Records As “Not Like Us” Hits Monumental Milestone

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” is barely a month old, and yet it already feels like it’s broken every Spotify rap song record under the sun as far as streaming numbers go. Moreover, you’ve probably seen this headline a lot, and it’s because people can’t get enough of this Drake diss and are looking forward to more moments with it. After all, K.Dot will likely premiere this song live in Los Angeles for his “Pop Out” Juneteenth concert, and we’re sure that if he plays it, the energy will be astounding. Anticipation for it, plus it being such a catchy song despite its subject matter, are some factors as to why it became the fastest rap song in Spotify history to surpass 300 million streams on the platform (35 days).

Of course, this might paint this rap battle as a clear victory, but both Drake and Kendrick Lamar fans have arguments for it being much closer than some folks give it credit for. Even though some people think that The Boy is acting deludedly by calling K.Dot a “one-trick pony” with his latest IG troll, his disses did contain more sharp writing than some expected. Regardless, it’s clear that numbers-wise, there is definitely a first place finish with “Not Like Us.” But as rap beef, discussion, and the genre’s artistry proves time and time again, numbers don’t really matter at the end of the day.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Is Still A Nonstop Record-Breaker

Well, unless Kendrick Lamar is your GOAT, in which case you’ve never cared more about numbers. But light hypocrisy and confirmation bias aside, the acclaim and success behind “Not Like Us” is one of the most astonishing and unlikely hits of hip-hop’s 2024. In fact, it’s the principal driving factor behind this year in particular perhaps going down as Kendrick’s biggest streaming year of his career so far. We’ll see if this ends up being the case by the time December rolls around.

Actually, the new album rumors are rampant, and while it’s tough to call how fans will perceive this move after the Drake beef, they will likely celebrate its purely hypothetical announcement regardless. Maybe Kendrick Lamar really did just want to pop out and will use his Juneteenth show to wrap things up and leave us waiting for his next project. Or he’s about to have one of the most dominant and eventful years any rapper has ever had. Ever! And so could Drizzy if he drops something long-form, so we’ll see whether or not this dead horse is one we’ll be beating all the way to New Year’s.

Drake And Taylor Swift Both Hold The Record For The Most BBMAs

Drake and Taylor Swift are two of the most dominant artists for the generation, maybe even of all time. Their albums, singles, and tours are almost always a global success. All we need to do is go back to when both of them dropped their most recent records. The first of the two to drop this year was Taylor with her redux of her 2010 record, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). Just a couple of months later, she redid one of her most popular LPs, 1989, as well. It has been out for less than a month, and three songs are in the top five on her Spotify account.

Then, we shift our focus over to The Boy. It seems every record is highly anticipated. That was the case with For All The Dogs. The same thing applies to the Canadian rapper’s top five. “IDGAF” with Yeat, “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole,” and “Rich Baby Daddy” alongside SZA and Sexyy Red, are hot right now. In fact, the first two tracks were topping the Billboard Hot 100, nabbing Cole’s first number one song.

Now, both megastars can revel in more awards and records. The Billboard Music Awards took place last night (November 19) and Taylor made more history. After winning 10 out of her 20 nominations, she is now in lockstep with Drake. Both are now at a whopping 39 awards. Taylor took the time to thank her Swifties for the honors. According to Billboard, here is some of her speech. “I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have you in my corner and caring about the music that I make. So thank you — thank you, thank you, thank you 10 million times — for this.”

What are your initial thoughts on Drake and Taylor Swift now being tied with each other for the most Billboard Music Awards? Does this solidify Taylor as the greatest pop artist of all time, or just this generation? Whose music do you enjoy more? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Drake And 21 Savage Now Have The Most Streamed Collab Rap Album Over “Watch The Throne”

Drake and 21 Savage are some of the biggest hitmakers of this generation. On top of that, they may be the biggest for the hip-hop genre. This is the argument that many use for Drake to give him the greatest rapper of all time title. To some, that is certainly a hot take. Especially, when you consider the fact that a good amount will argue he is not in the upper echelon when it comes to rapping and artistry.

However, you cannot deny that Drake has plenty of iconic tracks and albums. A solid amount of those land on one of his most recent tapes, Her Loss. The 2022 project with 21 has cuts like “Rich Flex,” “P***y & Millions,” “Major Distribution,” “Spin Bout U,” and plenty of others. With songs like this, it was only a matter of time before this collaborative record broke some sort of record.

That day is today. We have just discovered that it has just become the most streamed collab rap tape ever. It passes up notable efforts such as both Savage Mode‘s, and Kids See Ghosts, among others. However, easily the biggest competition on this list is Watch The Throne by Kanye West and Jay-Z. Her Loss has 2.7 billion streams, while Ye and Jay sit at 2.6 billion. That tape is seen by quite a large sum of listeners to be the best team effort ever. This makes it all the more impressive that an album that is just a little over a year old has already moved past it. In fact, it took only 372 days to reach that mark. Congratulations to Drake and 21 Savage and everyone else involved!

What are your initial thoughts on Drake and 21 Savage now possessing the highest-streamed collaboration album of all time? Do you think this proves that Drake is bigger and better than Kanye West and Jay-Z? What tracks from Her Loss are still in your rotation? We would like to know what you have to say about all of this. Doja Cat Shatters Spotify’s Records History With This New Achievement

With this year’s run of new singles, the most recent of which (“Balut“) arrived this week, Doja Cat is on fire. Moreover, the Los Angeles artist built up a lot of steam with impressive rap performances, ethereal instrumentals, and a lot of social media promotion and hype. Now, we have a newly broken all-time Spotify record to represent her dominance and success in this new era of her career. The 27-year-old now has the most monthly listeners out of any female rapper in history with over 65.7 million. For those curious, the next MC in line is Nicki Minaj, who has about 61.6 million monthly Spotify listeners as of writing this article.

Fans likely remember that the Queen’s remix of Doja Cat’s “Say So” shot to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. That was their first No. 1 single individually, and the “Attention” rapper nabbed another one this year with “Paint The Town Red.” In fact, it was the first rap song to claim the highest spot on those charts in over a year. As if this story wasn’t already tightly woven enough, the last rap song to have done so was Nicki’s own “Super Freaky Girl.”

Doja Cat Breaks Records Once Again

Furthermore, all this success and acclaim is leading up to Doja Cat’s next album, Scarlet, which die-hards have been waiting patiently for over a long period of time. However, that’s not to say that it’s all been peaches and cream when it comes to her fanbase and this album rollout. The Planet Her hitmaker lost a lot of fans with her public statements, such as speaking negatively on superfans, dismissing her past catalog, and her rumored relationship with controversial figure J. Cyrus. With these new singles, though, she proved that all of that can become moot if you continue to back it up with great art.

Still, we’ll see if that persists as a narrative leading up to Scarlet or if her extracurriculars catch up to her. It’s been a very interesting back-and-forth to witness, especially considering that these new singles are quite the sonic shift from past albums. As chaotic as media coverage around her has been as of late, nothing is quite as important as the music. The numbers come after, and they give credence to her evolution. With that in mind, log back into HNHH for the latest updates and news on Doja Cat.

The Weeknd’s Tour Destroys Another Tickets Sales Record

The Weeknd is on a surreal run right now. If you are unaware of all of the news surrounding him here is a quick rundown of what you are missing. The Canadian pop and R&B superstar continues to shatter some truly incredible records. A few months ago he broke the record of the most monthly listeners on Spotify for any genre eclipsing the 100 million mark. He currently sits at 112 million plus and that number will certainly grow.

In addition, this world tour he embarked on back in 2022 is the highest-grossing tour of the decade. It has raked in well over $350 million dollars in ticket sales. Shortly after, The Weeknd shattered the record for the highest single-night attendance for any show at the London Stadium with 80,000 fans. It is simply remarkable what the hitmaker has pulled off and he still has plenty more shows to go. But before the European leg ended the other night, The Weeknd snagged one more achievement.

The Weeknd Is Not Done Yet

The Grammy-award-winning phenom obliterated another show record after his performance at London’s historic Wembley Stadium. According to Live Nation UK, The Weeknd “broke Wembley Stadium’s record for sales with their traditional concert set up with the stage at one end of the stadium with 87,000 tickets sold.” This might be something that might not ever be done by another artist in the history of music. The singing sensation continues to do things that many thought would ever happen. But, here we are witnessing greatness on a weekly basis.

What are your thoughts about The Weeknd’s After Hours ‘Till Dawn Tour breaking another record? Do you think he is the biggest artist of this generation or of all time? How many more records do you think The Weeknd can break? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Meek Mill Says He “Always Thought” The Weeknd Would Pass MJ

The Weeknd just passed Michael Jackson as having the number one best-selling tour by a Black musician this week, with his “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour grossing over $350 million in ticket sales alone. He paid his respects to the late King of Pop when he eclipsed this monumental milestone. However, there was another rapper waiting in the wings to stake his claim that the Toronto R&B artist was always going to dethrone the 1980s musical legend.

Meek Mill posted on Twitter, saying that “I always thought [The Weeknd] was [going to be] bigger than [Michael] Jackson.” He congratulates Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a. The Weeknd, for his achievement, with the apparent wisdom to know this was in the cards anyways. He proclaims in the Tweet that he used to hang out in the hood and dish out hot takes, like how Tesfaye looked like Michael Jackson out there performing. Seeing as The Weeknd was nothing but gracious and grateful for Michael, we wouldn’t say that he’d necessarily think the same way.

Meek Mill’s Bold Claim About The Weeknd

Of course, this claim would’ve been bolder if Meek Mill had mentioned it before The Weeknd blew the previous tour record out of the water. Still, it’s always good to see contemporary hip-hop artists dapping each other up, and Meek giving The Weeknd his deserved flowers is a wonderful sight. The two have collaborated a few times before, including the Meek Mill song “Pullin Up” from his 2015 album, Dreams Worth More Than Money.

Meek has been offering his opinions left and right recently. He discussed The Weeknd another time when the AI-generated song “Heart on My Sleeve” made the rounds. Artificial intelligence used The Weeknd and Drake’s voice likenesses to create a wholly original song. Meek Mill loved the song, listening to it on repeat and asking the duo to make some new music together. While he caught flak for boosting the AI-generated track, he still has a point: The hip-hop world could use some new Drake-Weeknd collaborations.

The Weeknd Respects Michael Jackson After Breaking His Record

Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd (or maybe as “Tedros Tedros” from his rat-tailed character on HBO’s The Idol), is breaking massive records. The crooning R&B artist destroyed a previous tour revenue record held by the one and only Michael Jackson. The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour is now the highest-grossing tour ever by a Black artist. The current tour has raked in over $350 in ticket sales alone. Add in merch and concessions, and this tour is going to be one of the most financially successful music events of all time.

Michael Jackson held the record since 1987 when he went on his “Bad” Tour. Adjusting for inflation, MJ grossed $311 million during that time and ended up number two on the list of richest tours of the 1980s. Pink Floyd’s “A Momentary Lapse in Reason” Tour took the top spot. Flashforward to now, The Weeknd was aware of the impending record and quickly nabbed the highest-grossing tour of the 2020s decade. When he cruised right past the King of Pop, he made sure to give the late great musical genius his flowers.

The Weeknd Is On A Torrid Pace To Icon Status

“[My] king. [Then], now and forever. [Rest] easy,” is what the caption says on The Weeknd’s Tweet. A video from a fan’s perspective captured him on stage, singing his rendition of the Michael Jackson hit, “Dirty Diana.” Renamed “D.D.,” he sings it live as an homage to surpassing Michael’s tour record. He is still on the road, going international this year. The “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour concluded its North American stint back in September 2022. The multi-country tour will end the international portion on October 25th of this year in Guadalajara, Mexico.

As for the record of highest-selling tour of all time, that accolade belongs to Sir Elton John. His “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” recently concluded and pulled in a whopping $910 million over 320 separate shows. It’s tough to beat the most popular pop singer of all time. But beating out Michael Jackson is still an impressive feat for The Weeknd. He’ll look to continue his rampant cultural influence with the tour and the TV screen.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl Performance Is Most-Watched Of All Time

Earlier this year, Rihanna had the world on their feet with her Super Bowl halftime show. After a long wait and much anticipation for her return to the music scene after seven years, her performance did not disappoint fans. There were no special guests, as many thought, but it turns out Riri didn’t need anyone else. According to USA Today, the halftime show pulled in 115 million viewers. A report from Neilson confirms this. That makes Rihanna’s halftime performance the most watched in all of history. It’s an incredibly impressive feat considering the legends that have come before. Then again, she is Rihanna. She is a living legend in her own right.

Riri’s performance was remarkable, and she exuded palpable confidence as she sang her top hits. The show began with a brief video before revealing Rihanna suspended on a platform. The tracks on the setlist seamlessly blended into each other. She performed classics like “We Found Love,” “S&M,” “Rude Boy,” and “Work.” Her performance concluded with a live band and two of her most popular songs, “Umbrella” and “Diamonds,” during which some fans speculated that she announced her pregnancy. This was later confirmed to be true.

Since her Super Bowl performance, Rihanna has become a daily staple in the headlines again. Yesterday, she and A$AP Rocky attended the Met Gala together. Of course, Rihanna has shown up to the event in some of the most iconic looks ever created. As such, there was much anticipation for her arrival. The singer did not disappoint. Rihanna stunned in a beautiful white dress with white flowers all over. She used the flowers as a hood to cover her head and then draped it down for a classic, elegant look. Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky wore a traditional black suit with a white shirt, bedazzled jeans, and a red flannel skirt over his pants as a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld. He also showcased several Gucci belts.

Even after seven years without releasing an album, Rihanna continues to be one of the most influential artists in the industry. Her Super Bowl performance and her extremely hyped appearances at events like the Met Gala only cement her status as an icon. While fans have had to wait quite some time for new music, it looks like the wait may be coming to an end very soon. Rihanna has already said that wants to drop her new album this year. Whether or not she will remains to be seen. What do you think of Rihanna’s record-breaking Super Bowl performance? Are you looking forward to new music? Let us know in the comments!
