Drake’s “Wah Gwan Delilah” & J. Cole’s “Grippy” Features Have Fans Crowning Kendrick Lamar As The “Boogeyman”

Drake and J. Cole are two artists who are currently finding themselves at the center of widespread criticism. Overall, they were both part of the Kendrick Lamar beef which took place between the end of March and the beginning of May. When it comes to J. Cole, he was dissed on “Like That” and eventually came through with his own response on the album Might Delete Later. However, he ultimately deleted his song “7 Minute Drill,” noting the Kendrick beef was weighing on his spirit.

As for Drake, he put up a valiant effort with “Push Ups” and “Family Matters.” Although based on Kendrick’s output, it was clear that Lamar was the victor. In the weeks that have followed the beef, both Cole and Drake have put out questionable features. The first of which was Cole on the Cash Cobain track “Grippy.” Cole did not sound like himself, and the cringe lyrics had fans shocked. Subsequently, last night, Drake gave us a feature on the parody song “Wah Gwan Delilah” by Toronto comedian, Snowd4y.

With both of these features out in the ether, fans are officially declaring Kendrick Lamar as the “boogeyman.” In the tweets below, you will see that fans think these poor features are a confirmation that Kendrick is in their heads. They believe that somehow beefing with the man has led to an extreme fall-off for both artists. While this could be true, one has to consider that Cole and Drake just want to have a bit of fun. Cash Cobain has a cool sound, and Cole probably just wanted to experiment. Meanwhile, Drake is always trolling and as a Toronto-native, the recent cover feature isn’t that shocking. Regardless, the internet loves to craft narratives, and right now, Kendrick being the “boogeyman” has started to prevail

DJ Akademiks Unveils Who The Real Boogeyman Is In The Drake & Kendrick Lamar Beef

DJ Akademiks has been all over the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef. Of course, Akademiks has inside sources over at OVO. Drake himself has fed Ak information for years, and that has been especially true during this beef. On Friday night, Ak was given a warning that Drizzy would be dropping “Family Matters.” However, Ak’s stream quickly turned into a bit of a funeral as Drake was hit with an epic response from Kendrick, “Meet The Grahams.” Once “Not Like Us” was released, Ak had no choice but to keep streaming almost indefinitely.

Last night, Akademiks was on stream where he continued to dissect the beef. It was here that he revealed that Drake was supposedly going to drop another song. Moreover, he claimed that something was going to drop yesterday, however, the shooting at Drake’s home put a stop to it. Eventually, during his stream, he found out that Future was going to be coming through with a new album. This subsequently led to Akademiks delivering a hot take that is certainly interesting.

DJ Akademiks Gives His Take

Essentially, Ak says that the real boogeyman is not K-Dot and it is not Drake either. Instead, the man no one wants smoke with is Future. It is definitely an interesting observation and one that has to be taken seriously. Even Drake has refused to truly diss Future throughout all of this. Instead, he just wants to be friends again. It just goes to show just how respected the man is. Truly the winner of this entire battle.

Let us know what you think of this take from DJ Akademiks, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that Future is truly the boogeyman in all of this? How do you think it would go down if he ended up getting into a lyrical battle with someone? BlackBalled Baby: DaBaby States the Industry is to Blame for Selling 16K in First Week

boohooMAN Breaks Off Current and Future Collaborations with DaBaby

DaBaby dropped his new album, Baby on Baby 2, this past Friday. The surprise drop garnered headlines because of a diss toward Megan Thee Stallion. A week later, sales projects are out and target the effort to move 16,000 album-equivalent units in the first week and debut outside the Top 20.

With the numbers hitting social media and some jokes ensuing, DaBaby hit Instagram with a message: “No bad for da BlackBalled Baby.”

DaBaby’s claims of blackballing match rumors of the same from Akademiks, who have pointed at Ebro Darden as one of the industry figures against him.

The fans who listened to the album immediately gravitated to the single “Boogeyman,” in which the rapper blasts Megan Thee Stallion, stating they had sex before she was allegedly by Tory Lanez and going to diss Pardison Fontaine.

Rapping on the single, DaBaby opened:

“You play with me that shit was childish The day before she said that Tory Lanez shot her I was fkin on Megan Thee Stallion Waited to say that shit on my next album
Hit it the day before too
But I kept it player, I ain’t say nothing ’bout it.”

He then would double back with bars about Pardison Fontaine:

“Had her pretty boy, boyfriend tweeting me, ready to die ’bout the b*tch like a coward
I told you n*ggas don’t play, now you gone have to handle me I poked the muthaf*ckin bear, I’m a animal.”

Seemingly hearing the comments, Hot Girl Meg blasted off a response on stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

“So look, I don’t know about y’all but I love my body,” Thee Stallion said. “I do what I want to with my body, when I want to with my body, with who I want to with my body. ‘Cause it’s who? My body.”

The relationship between Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby came to a crashing close in 2021 when DaBaby worked with Tory Lanez for a new collaboration “SKAT.”

From there DaBaby and Hot Girl Meg’s boyfriend Pardison Fontaine had an exchange on social media. The fallout also included Megan Thee Stallion exiting the stage during a performance with DJ Khaled to not be around DaBaby.

At one of last year’s Rolling Loud events, Megan performed before DaBaby and once the “Suge” rapper hit the stage, he brought out Tory Lanez. Following that moment, he would go on to perform one of his biggest hits with Thee Stallion, “Cash Shit.”

Megan Thee Stallion on Stage After Recent Accusations From DaBaby: ‘I Do What I Want to With My Body’

Megan Thee Stallion

Last week, DaBaby decided to let us in on a rumored bedroom affair with Megan Thee Stallion. Fans who listened to DaBaby’s Baby on Baby 2 album immediately gravitated to the single “Boogeyman,” in which the rapper blasts Megan Thee Stallion, stating they had sex before she was allegedly by Tory Lanez and going to diss Pardison Fontaine.

Rapping on the single, DaBaby opened:

“You play with me that shit was childish The day before she said that Tory Lanez shot her I was fkin on Megan Thee Stallion Waited to say that shit on my next album

DaBaby Has Been Accused Of Plagiarizing His Megan Thee Stallion-Aimed Song, ‘Boogeyman’

Not everyone is a fan of DaBaby‘s new song, “Boogeyman.” Taken from his new surprise album, Baby On Baby 2, not only does “Boogeyman” feature DaBaby claiming he slept with Megan Thee Stallion the night before she was allegedly shot by Tory Lanez, but it appears to have been lifted from a Toronto artist.

Singer and songwriter Layla Hendryx spoke with Rolling Stone today, claiming that DaBaby has plagiarized parts of her own song titled “Boogeyman.”

A friend of Hendryx, whose Twitter account has since been set to protected, shared clips comparing both songs.

“The whole [cadence], the whole flow for the hook is stolen from me,” Hendryx said. “One, it was done so sheisty, and two, the fact that he used the song to basically diss another black woman while you’re stealing from another black woman is just wild to me.”

Hendryx said a friend of hers shared her song, “Boogeyman,” to an A&R earlier this year, and believes that’s how the song made its way to DaBaby. She also shared that she’s had similar experiences in the industry, however, she is even more upset about the fact that the song takes aim at another artist.

“It’s just not something that I want to be a part of,” Hendryx said. “Even if they did just put me out with a credit, that’s not something I want to write for. I do not want to write for DaBaby. I would’ve said no to begin with. Just let me have the choice with my own art.”

Hendryx revealed that she is currently pursuing legal action against DaBaby.

Megan Thee Stallion is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
