Ace Hood Calls On Benny The Butcher & Millyz On “Uncomfortable Truth”

For over a decade, Ace Hood’s proven to be one of the most ferocious MCs. Each time he steps to the plate, he showcases why he’s one of the most consistent. Though he might not be mentioned alongside other greats from the South, Ace Hood’s undoubtedly proven his skill set time and time again. However, it looks like he’s ramping up for another project including some collaborations alongside a few lyrical heavyweights.

On Friday, Ace Hood returned to the fold with the release of his latest single, “Uncomfortable Truth” ft. Benny The Butcher and Millyz. Though we’ve seen the Griselda rapper and the Blanco 6 artist connect in the past, Ace Hood unites them for a fiery banger. Ace Hood kicks things off before passing the baton to Benny The Butcher. Millyz delivers an excellent verse and Ace Hood comes through to close out the record. “Uncomfortable Truth” is certainly a strong effort that has us hoping the three rappers have more heat in the stash.

Ace Hood’s new single seems like it could kick off a new album cycle. In 2022, the rapper returned to the fold with the release of M.I.N.D. For the Florida-based MC, it felt like an experimental effort that showcased his exploring different sounds and textures while also opening up about his own journey. Most recently, he brought back the fan-favorite Body Bag series for its sixth installment.

Benny The Butcher is currently ramping up to deliver a new body of work in the near future. The Buffalo artist announced he and Hit-Boy’s highly-anticipated joint project, Everybody Can’t Go earlier this year, though they haven’t confirmed a release date yet. Meanwhile, Millyz is fresh off of the release of the sixth installment in the Blanco series, which arrived on Friday. Check out Ace Hood’s new single, “Uncomfortable Truth” ft. Turn witnesses, switch on the whole gang, like they was never in it
I never went to science class, but my role models was chemists
Hottest out, regardless, if they don’t post it on Akademiks

Ace Hood Drops Off “Body Bag 6”

In a few ways, it feels like more artists are trying to bring back that feeling of the mixtapes during the DSP era. Mixtapes provided fans with an unadulterated glimpse into each MC’s skillsets. Ace Hood’s Body Bag series, for example, became a fixture during the blog era. This week, he returned with a new installment.

Shortly after releasing “OMG (Freestyle)” over Lil Durk and Gunna’s collab, Ace Hood came back with Body Bag 6. The latest installment in the beloved mixtape series is a return to form for Ace Hood as he tackles some of the biggest beats in recent times. Not only does he come through with a rendition of “Virgil,” but he also takes on a few Future records like “Puffin On Zooties” and “Wait For You.” Additionally, he takes on Lil Baby’s “In A Minute,” and Bia’s hit record, “London.” Ace Hood is evidently in beast mode right now. Body Bag 6 indicates what he has in store for 2023.

The rapper’s unveiled a slew of projects independently during his recent run. In 2022, he released, M.I.N.D which showcased a significant amount of growth and maturity since Mr. Hood. However, for the fans that followed his journey from the jump, mixtapes like Body Bag and Starvation captured his hunger. During a 2022 interview with HotNewHipHop, he said fans have been drawn to his hustle and his mixtapes have always embodied that energy.

“They always represented my pain and my struggle and really represented the things that I was struggling with,” he said of the Starvation series. “So I think, now, it’s important to share my light with my fans of what I’ve learned on the journey of figuring myself out in the space of survival, in a space of hustling and all of that.” Check out Body Bag 6 below and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Ace Hood Flips Lil Durk & Gunna’s Collab On “OMG (Freestyle)”

Ace Hood is coming through with a new installment in the Body Bag series. The Florida rapper kicked off the campaign with his latest release, “OMG (Freestyle).” This time, Ace Hood comes through with his take on Lil Durk’s 2022 hit record, “What Happened To Virgil?” ft. Gunna. Hood emulates Durk and Gunna’s melodic triplet flows throughout the course of the record but he infuses his own sauce into the record.

The Chopsquad DJ-produced beat turns into an outlet for Ace Hood to confront his own emotions. As he leaps through different cadences in the duration of the freestyle, it’s also a moment where he details his relationship with God and speaks on the loss of friends and family to the streets.

Body Bag 6 will certainly be a welcome return to form for the Broward County native. Throughout the years, he established his core base through the Body Bag mixtape series. He released the first installment of the Body Bag mixtapes in 2011. Body Bag 5 dropped in 2019. During an interview with HNHH in 2022, he explained that projects like Body Bag and the Starvation mixtapes capture his hunger during his come up. Ultimately, it’s why fans fell in love with him in the first place.

“I love the Starvations because they always represented my pain, right?” he said. “They always represented my pain and my struggle and really represented the things that I was struggling with.”

Last year, the rapper released his latest body of work, M.I.N.D., which launched a new series titled A Hero’s Journey. The project found Ace Hood expanding well beyond the confines of rap. For example, the lead single, “Free” explored a futuristic electro-pop sound and Ace Hood’s range.

Body Bag 6 drops on Friday.
