Ace Hood Flips Lil Durk & Gunna’s Collab On “OMG (Freestyle)”

Ace Hood is coming through with a new installment in the Body Bag series. The Florida rapper kicked off the campaign with his latest release, “OMG (Freestyle).” This time, Ace Hood comes through with his take on Lil Durk’s 2022 hit record, “What Happened To Virgil?” ft. Gunna. Hood emulates Durk and Gunna’s melodic triplet flows throughout the course of the record but he infuses his own sauce into the record.

The Chopsquad DJ-produced beat turns into an outlet for Ace Hood to confront his own emotions. As he leaps through different cadences in the duration of the freestyle, it’s also a moment where he details his relationship with God and speaks on the loss of friends and family to the streets.

Body Bag 6 will certainly be a welcome return to form for the Broward County native. Throughout the years, he established his core base through the Body Bag mixtape series. He released the first installment of the Body Bag mixtapes in 2011. Body Bag 5 dropped in 2019. During an interview with HNHH in 2022, he explained that projects like Body Bag and the Starvation mixtapes capture his hunger during his come up. Ultimately, it’s why fans fell in love with him in the first place.

“I love the Starvations because they always represented my pain, right?” he said. “They always represented my pain and my struggle and really represented the things that I was struggling with.”

Last year, the rapper released his latest body of work, M.I.N.D., which launched a new series titled A Hero’s Journey. The project found Ace Hood expanding well beyond the confines of rap. For example, the lead single, “Free” explored a futuristic electro-pop sound and Ace Hood’s range.

Body Bag 6 drops on Friday.

Quotable Lyrics
Championship, I’m bringing it home
Hit up my jeweler to set it in stone
She say them diamonds look good on my tone
Smoke a lil’ eighth then I spray the cologne
