Beyoncé Shares Grammys BTS Video, Dances With Jay-Z & Poses With Trophies

The Grammy Awards have come and gone for another year, though our favourite celebrities continue to reflect on their wins (and losses) all across social media. The latest to do so is one of the night’s biggest champions – Beyoncé. Throughout the prestigious ceremony, she markedly took home the trophies for R&B Song, Dance Recording, Traditional R&B Performance, and finally, Dance/Electronic Album.

Following Sunday (February 5) night’s televised presentation, the Houston-born vocalist shared a commemorative post on her Instagram. “To my Hive, thank y’all so much for all of your love and loyalty,” she began. “Big thank you for the ‘BREAK MY SOUL’ and ‘CUFF IT’ wins!!! To The Dream, Tricky, HOV, and Big Freedia. I love y’all!”

Beyoncé went on to name-drop Syd, Nova Wav, Ristorp, Raphael Saadiq, and Nile Rodgers for their help in the winning efforts. Additionally, she praised Sabrina Claudio, Nick Green, and Patrick Paige II for helping out with “PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA.” Of the track, she says, “[It’s] my favourite song on ‘RENAISSANCE’ most days. It’s hard to pick though. Haaa.”

In the days since the 41-year-old has kept the Grammy content coming our way. A closer look at her glamourous outfit came earlier this week. Later, on Wednesday (February 8), the “Baby Boy” hitmaker gave us a behind-the-scenes video that includes plenty of big smiles. Soundtracked to the newly released “CUFF IT (WETTER REMIX),” we see footage of Queen B dancing with her husband, posing while cameras snap, and getting emotional while accepting an award on stage.

Other famous faces who appear alongside Beyoncé in the new video include former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland and her mom, Tina Lawson. Seeing as the performer is now tied for the title of most-decorated Grammy artist of all time, she’s got no shortage of bragging rights and prestige within the music industry.

Her RENAISSANCE album continues to be celebrated by friends and fans near and far. Unfortunately, Beyoncé’s Adidas x Ivy Park collection hasn’t been getting the same love as of late. Earlier this week, reports revealed that the streetwear brand underperformed by 86% last year.

The mother of three obviously isn’t letting the numbers get her down. On her own social media page, she shared a sneak peek at her “favourite drop yet” from Ivy Park. See the photos for yourself here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Beyoncé’s Ivy Park Sales Considered ‘Weak,’ Have Sales Drop of Over 50% in 2022

Blue Ivy Steals The Show in Icy Park Campaign

Beyoncé’s Ivy Park clothing line is not having nearly the demand that her concert tickets are.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Queen Bey’s partnership with Adidas has “weak sales,” resulting in a $200 million deficit in the annual projects for the sportswear giant.

In 2022, Adidas projected Ivy Park to hit a mark of $250 million in sales. Instead, the brand only made $40 million, a drop by over 50%. The Ivy Park brand is a loss for Adidas, which also has to pay $20 million annually to the Renaissance hitmaker.

The deal tying Beyoncé to Adidas is set to end in 2023. The brand is publicly referring to the partnership as “strong and successful.”

“We continue to be inspired by our collective vision and are proud of the work we have created together,” the company said.

Ivy Park made its debut in 2016, featuring running shorts and other athletic wear, bags, and accessories. Beyoncé took sole control of the brand in 2018, entering the partnership with Adidas in 2019.

Diplo Clarified What He Really Said After Beyoncé’s Grammy Win

Beyoncé took home three awards from the 2023 Grammys last Sunday, February 5, bringing her career total to an all-time most 32. She won Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Plastic Off The Sofa”), Best Dance/Electronic Recording (“Break My Soul“) and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album (Renaissance). And many people feel strongly that she should have also won Album Of The Year, but that’s a discussion for a different article.

The Best Dance/Electronic Music Album victory broke the record, and because Beyoncé was nominated, the category was televised. On the CBS broadcast, Diplo was seen in the audience saying something after Renaissance was announced as the winner. Some fans speculated that he said, “They bought that.” He was also nominated in the category for his self-titled album.

Diplo set the record straight on Instagram this week. The final slide of the Instagram carousel is the same clip that’s been making the rounds online, except Diplo included a closed-captioning of “I’m glad to be a part of this.”

Diplo’s lengthy caption gushed over Beyoncé. Read it below.

“This is a post to honor the dance music community. Thank your for being my purpose in this life and shaping my career .. and much love to all the wonderful people that worked on my album 🧡.. Grammy night was great night for all of us. Dance music has and will be the most Inclusive music of our generation .. I have been in the industry for over 20 years releasing club music ..djing over 1000 different clubs and cities – u can find me everywhere, the slums of Rio, warehouses in North Philly where I started to the fanciest night clubs and yachts in st tropez, ibiza.. Our community has always been gay / straight, but icy , poor.. white black brown purple .. it’s the music that had united the world during my lifetime and i’m glad to just be one part of it🌎 you don’t need to be a savant or a great musician to be part of dance music u just have to love to move and have confidence.

“Tonight was the first time the dance / electronic category was televised and it was rightfully so.. between me, rufus beyoncé, odesza bonobo… was one of the strongest years for electronic music. Beyoncé album was legendary (i’m a beyonce a stan remember I produced some classic dance songs for her like ’til the end of time’ and ‘girls run the world.’ what’s important to understand was that her intention was 100%. she did the work found the real producers and she made classics .. so she deserves her flowers . and when she won i was just proud to see my nomination on the screen in the huge arena.. (swipe to the end to see what i said) but the best part was my friends and the other artists in the genre still out raving until sunrise somewhere in La : that’s what’s the music is really about 😎

During her acceptance speech, Beyoncé was visibly emotional and paid homage to “the queer community for your love and for inventing the genre.” Watch the historic moment above.

What Is The Correct Pronunciation Of ‘Beyhive?’

Beyoncé is at the tip of everyone’s tongue for various reasons. To be fair, she always is the topic of conversation somewhere, but she’s everywhere right now. Beyoncé became the most Grammy-awarded artist of all time despite controversially losing out on Album Of The Year. That’s before mentioning the metaphorical carnage surrounding ticketing to her forthcoming Renaissance World Tour.

In other words, the Beyhive is busy. But how do you pronounce the name of Beyoncé’s zealous fan base?

The overwhelming response across Reddit is that “Beyhive” is pronounced like “Bee Hive” with Beyoncé as the Queen Bey (pronounced Queen Bee). Google also has you covered, and if you still aren’t totally convinced, Bomani Jones used it in a sentence on his HBO series Game Theory earlier this week.

Jones addressed people — namely, Stephen A. Smith — comparing Rihanna to Beyoncé ahead of Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII halftime performance on Sunday, February 12. Jones was asked if Rihanna “can outdo Beyoncé” and cited the Beyhive as a driving force behind his answer.

“I got on one side the Beyhive, the other side — what, they call themselves The Navy, and you want me to pick one?” Jones said. “And the answer is Rihanna cannot outdo Beyoncé for one reason. Stop the clapping! You’re going to get me in trouble. Beyoncé’s from Houston.”

What Are The Prices To Expect For Beyoncé’s Ivy Park Trail Collection?

The Beyhive is justifiably upset that Beyoncé didn’t win Album Of The Year for Renaissance at the 2023 Grammys on Sunday night, February 5, while simultaneously fighting for tickets to her forthcoming Renaissance World Tour. Fans’ attention spans will be tested even further this week when Beyoncé and Adidas drop a new Ivy Park collection.

According to Adidas’ official press release, the “Park Trail” collection “is inspired by the resilience of the outdoors, the spirit of the streets, and the possibilities of the future.” The online release is set for tomorrow, February 9, and select partner stores will begin selling the collection on Friday, February 10.

Here are the basics, as written in the press release:

  • 56 apparel styles (including inclusive sizing), 12 accessories, 3 footwear styles (with one tyle, the TT 2000, in two colors)
  • Unisex regular and oversized fits
  • Men’s regular and tight fits
  • Women’s tight, regular and oversized fits
  • Sizes from XXXS-XXXXL

But as with anything Bey-related, there’s one big question: How much will this cost? The good news is that the low end of the price range is $30. The bad news is that pricing tops out at $600.

The “Park Trail” rollout dates back to last month when Ice Spice and Offset were revealed as two of the campaign’s faces.

It was reported by The Wall Street Journal earlier today, February 8, that Adidas’ projected Ivy Park to net $250 million in sales last year but earned $40 million in 2022 instead.

Check out how Ivy Park is setting the tone for 2023 below.

Fat Joe Says Grammys “Jerk” Around Artists “On Purpose”

Each year, the Grammys is hit with some sort of backlash, and Fat Joe believes The Recording Academy does it on purpose. Although Beyoncé became the most awarded artist in Grammy history at this year’s ceremony; still, fans weren’t happy about Album of the Year. The title went to Harry Styles, and debates were launched about whether Bey’s Renaissance was a better choice. Other talked about categories were Song of the Year and Best New artist. Those went to music legend Bonnie Raitt and newcomer Samara Joy.

Fat Joe is the Hip Hop commentator that we all know and love, and he took to social media to weigh in. He touched on Raitt and Joy’s wins specifically. “The thing that does really bug me out is when a woman that I don’t really know wins Song of the Year,” said Joe. “The Grammys do that sh*t on purpose. [Joy] is a jazz singer but she won over the biggest records and the biggest artists we know.”

He added that it’s a controversy that the Recording Academy does every year. “And they always do it. This is consistently they do this, this is a trademark,” Joe continued. “‘We’re gonna jerk at least two or three people that should win.’” A similar sentiment was shared by Jay-Z during his interview with Elliott Wilson for TIDAL.

“Even with Bey, I felt like they missed the moment. Not just LEMONADE; [also] when Beck won over her [for Album of the Year at the 2015 show]. I was like, ‘Oh, y’all missed it,’” said Hov. “For the culture, I love this sh*t so much I want them to get it right. I want to experience those moments when it’s the culmination of when Michael popped off. That moment left an indelible mark on us forever.”

He added, “Or when Lauryn Hill came through and it was Miseducation and she won those joints [five Grammy Awards in 1999]. We knew that was her moment. We wanted to witness that moment and celebrate her. She made something that’s going to stand the test of time.”

Adidas Is Reportedly Taking A $200M Loss From Beyoncé’s Ivy Park

Beyoncé’s latest Ivy Park collection with Adidas is set drop this week and although anticipation appears high, a new report from The Wall Street Journal suggests that the outlook for the singer’s clothing line may not be so rosy.

According to documents, the Ivy Park line is falling well short of Adidas’ initial projections. In 2022, the company expected the collection to bring in $250 million in sales banking on the hype for all things Beyoncé; it reportedly only managed $40 million. That was down 50% from the year before. Since Beyoncé gets $20 million a year for licensing her name and likeness to the brand, the Journal estimates Adidas is actually losing money.

The 2019 contract between Adidas and Beyoncé is set to expire after this year, and the Journal‘s sources say the brand’s executives are looking at whether or not they should end the partnership or try something new. Among possible solutions apparently being discussed are how much more or less Adidas branding Ivy Park should bear.

The latest collection is set to release online tomorrow (Thursday, February 9) and in stores the day after; the promotional campaign features breakout rapper Ice Spice and Offset.

Adidas has had a rough road regarding its artist partnerships of late; in 2022, the German athletic wear company cut ties with Kanye West in the wake of his antisemitic press tour, although the company still intends to release the Yeezy Boost designs without his name attached.

What Is Beyoncé’s Ivy Park Trail Collection’s Release Date?

Everything is coming up Beyoncé this week. After she made history with her Grammy win for Best Dance/Electronic Album for Renaissance, the presale for tickets to her upcoming world tour began. But that’s not all.

Tomorrow, February 9, the latest collection from Beyoncé’s Adidas-backed Ivy Park label will arrive, just in time to take advantage of all the good Beyoncé vibes this week.

Park Trail, the name of the new collection, appears to be centered around the great outdoors, with parkas and puffer jackets, hiking shoes, and cargo pants all in bold oranges and camouflage prints.

Ivy Park promoted the new line with a campaign featuring folks like Ice Spice and Offset (along with his son, Kody Cephus), releasing images featuring Offset decked-out from head-to-toe in deer hunter orange, a camoed-down Ice Spice, and even model Devon Aoki in an all-purple ensemble featuring a translucent trenchcoat, a knee-length sports dress, and matching sock boots.

Technically, the collection will be available online on February 9, while you can buy the pieces in real life at select retailers beginning February 10.

In other Beyoncé news, fans were relieved to hear that tickets to the upcoming Renaissance Tour cannot be resold for more than their face price as the unusual rollout for them made things a little more complicated than in the past.

Smino Announced His ‘She Already Decided 2’ Mixtape With The Beyoncé-Sampling ‘Smi Myself And I’

The 65th annual Grammy Awards this past weekend were filled with several historic moments. Not only did actor and producer extraordinaire Viola Davis earn the coveted EGOT title, but multi-hyphenated talent Beyoncé became the most-awarded winner of all time, as well as the first Black woman to win in the category of Best Dance/Electronic Album. Well, the flowers for Mrs. Knowles-Carter are still coming in as melodic rapper Smino pays homage to her award-winning catalog in his latest song.

Sampling Beyoncé’s 2003 single “Me Myself And I,” the St. Louis native’s newest track, “Smi Myself And I,” is the lead song off his forthcoming mixtape, She Already Decided 2, the follow-up to the namesake project released in 2020 that’s set to drop on 4/20. On the track, Smino comfortably fixes into the heartbreak pocket Beyoncé set on the inspiration track.

In typical Smino fashion, he cleverly sprinkles several witty metaphors throughout the track, even subtle nods to Queen Bey herself as the track opens, rapping, “I only look up to my Visine / Smi myself and Irene / I be / In the cut like IV / Jim Carey da Nina Simone so bro gone let freedom ring / Whoever carry my semen gone go on and become Big Queen.”

The video for the song directed by The Film Lord captures candid tour footage of Smino and friends as his co-headlining live experience with JID, Luv Is 4ever, continues to sell out across the country. Smino may receive love at each stop but based on the track’s lyrics it is the type of love he’s looking for.
