DeMar DeRozan Mocks Drake Once More After Mean-Mugging At Raptors-Kings Game

Drake and DeMar DeRozan were once good friends, but the former Toronto Raptor chose his side in the Kendrick Lamar beef and ended up going to the Sacramento Kings later in his career. Now, the 6ix God is pretty peeved. He attended the Kings-Raptors game in his home city, and we’re sure he’s pretty pleased that Toronto won. But what likely made the OVO mogul happier was being able to mean-mug DeMar the whole game, even spouting insults in his direction when he walked by. He said it was “unfortunate we’re playing this goof tonight” on his team’s broadcast, even remarking on what he’d do if the team honors DeRozan. “If you ever put up a DeRozan banner, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself.”

Well, DeMar DeRozan issued a pretty unbothered response to the whole thing. “He’s going to have a long way to climb to take it down, so tell him good luck,” he remarked about the Drake situation in a post-game press conference. In addition, the NBA player posted an Instagram Story of a clip of the classic film Friday in which Chris Tucker’s character Smokey tries to act tough against a bully named Deebo, much like Drizzy attempted. “I got mind control over Deebo,” Smokey boasted. “He be like, ‘Shut the f**k up.’ I be quiet. But when he leaves, I be talking again.” A lot of people thought that the Certified Lover Boy did the same thing.

DeMar DeRozan Trolls Drake

For those unaware, DeMar DeRozan not only got a lyrical shoutout on Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” but he also appeared in the Drake diss’ music video. Previously, DeRozan had expressed that he still has love for the Canadian superstar, although that love clearly disappeared.

Drake’s still my man, still my man, none of it changed,” DeMar DeRozan explained. “It’s so easy to get overlooked and look at it for what it looks like. But at the end of the day it’s music, entertainment. Two of the biggest rappers in the world went at it from a competitive standpoint and they battled it out. That’s what you want to see as a fan: Kobe (Bryant) playing (Michael) Jordan 1-on-1 and see who wins, see the trash talking, and whoever wins out of that, you’re still going to have the debate, so that’s all that is.”

Lola Brooke Teams Up With Kurtis Blow On Remake Of His 1984 Hit ‘Basketball’ Including WNBA Players Like Angel Reese

Basketball and hip-hop have been joined at the hip as long as both have been at the forefront of American (and eventually global) pop culture. This is largely a result of ’80s rap pioneer Kurtis Blow‘s 1984 breakout hit “Basketball.” You know it. You love it.

The song’s been remade a couple of times over the years — most notably by Bow Wow in 2002 — but Blow himself teamed up with DoorDash and contemporary hitmaker Lola Brooke for “Basketball 2.0,” a remake capitalizing on the WNBA’s breakout 2024 season. Adding new verses to the traditionally heard “I like the pick-and-roll / I like the give-and-go,” the two rappers name check a variety of contemporary players, from LeBron James and Kevin Durant to WNBA stars like A’ja Wilson, Jonquel Jones, Sue Bird, and of course, rookie sensation Angel Reese.

The video for the song, which includes a demonstration of DoorDash’s DashPass benefts, takes place at New York’s legendary Rucker Park, where the Knicks’ Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart take on all comers with some help from Bird, ending with a cheeky visual reference to NBA Jam — that’s right, “HE’S ON FIRE!” Fortunately, Kurtis has a fire extinguisher handy to put out the burning backboard.

You can check out Kurtis Blow and Lola Brooke’s “Basketball 2.0” video above.

Kurtis Blow Modernizes His Classic Single “Basketball” With The Help Of Hit-Boy & Lola Brooke

When you think of iconic rap songs from the 1980’s one of them undoubtedly should be “Basketball” by Kurtis Blow. The track was a perfect encapsulation of the excitement surrounding the NBA and the sport at large. It’s stood the test of time for as long as it possibly could have, as it is now a little over 40 years old. With that in mind, the fact we have a new version for the modern NBA era is a special treat. Kurtis Blow and DoorDash’s DashPass program linked up to concoct “BASKETBALL 2.0,” which features Hit-Boy and Lola Brooke.

The reason DashPass is involved is because they are now the official partners of the NBA and WNBA. Hit-Boy handles the production only here, with Lola popping in halfway through to shout out the superstars in the W as well. Blow mentions names like LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Anthony Davis, among others. It’s extremely nostalgic despite it just releasing and it’s just a cool moment overall to this go down. Hit-Boy’s sister and rapper HitgirlLena recreates the iconic chorus, making sure all of the key elements of the original are still intact. There’s also a music video for the single, and it takes place in the “Mecca of basketball,” New York City. It’s shot at a local basketball park with Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart making cameos in the visual. Check out “BASKETBALL 2.0” by Kurtis Blow, Hit-Boy, and Lola Brooke with the link below.

Drake Affiliate Top5 Gets Yelled At By Russell Westbrook During Heated Raptors Game

Top5 is a Toronto artist who has some affiliations with none other than Drake. In fact, after beating a recent murder charge in the city, Top5 thanked Drake directly for helping with his legal fees. Subsequently, the artist has been riding hard for Drizzy, especially as it pertains to the artist’s beef with Kendrick Lamar. He has made some vague threats towards Kendrick and claims that he is currently in the midst of doing some “research” on the artist.

Last night, Top5 found himself in social media headlines, yet again, although this time, it was because of his antics at a recent NBA game. He found himself courtside, sitting on the baseline for a match between the Toronto Raptors and the Denver Nuggets. At one point in the game, Russell Westbrook was very close to Top5, and the rapper took advantage with some “You suck” chants. Westbrook even yelled back at the artist, who then turned the camera on himself.

Top5 And Russell Westbrook Go At It

If you remember, Westbrook was actually at Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” show and at one point, he was even on stage with all of the other artists. Needless to say, it is pretty obvious why Top5 would target Russ in this way. Beyond just rap beef politics, Westbrook has been having a downturn in his career, which has led to a whole lot of clowning on social media, and real life. Either way, Russ got the last laugh as the Nuggets won the game by a score of 127-125.

Let us know what you think about all of this, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that Russell Westbrook is officially washed? Can the Denver Nuggets win the championship this year now that Russ is on the team? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Dwyane Wade Couldn’t Contain His Disappointment Over Horrendous Statue

Dwyane Wade was a legendary player with the Miami Heat and his contributions to that franchise will forever live in infamy. He is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and has three NBA championships. Overall, he is beloved by Heat fans everywhere, and it should come as no surprise that the team would want to honor him. They have already retired his jersey number, but recently, they decided to go one step further and honor him in a different way.

The Heat did just that by commissioning a new statue to go outside of their arena. Last night, the statue was unveiled and Wade was there with his family for the honor. However, the unveiling did not go as planned. Overall, the statue turned out to be a massive disappointment. As you can see below, the statue did not look like Wade at all. The face was all jacked up, and Wade could not contain his disappointment. Multiple clips of Wade seemingly laughing at the statue went viral. Moreover, he said the quiet part out loud during his speech. “Who is that guy,” he remarked.

Shaq Gets Dragged For His Creepy Comments Towards Angel Reese

Shaquille O’Neal was the most recent guest on Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast, and it led to a pretty awkward moment to witness during their discussion. At one point, Shaq starts to talk about Angel’s shorts that she wore for a Wild ‘N Out event, and suggested that she should dunk in them to sell more T-shirts. The WNBA start was visibly uncomfortable about this sexualization, but Shaq didn’t pick up on her body language and continued his remarks. This resulted in a lot of backlash and controversy on social media, with fans cringing at the exchange and calling out this seemingly creepy behavior.

Of course, maybe this is all just out of context and fans are making a fuss about nothing too serious. Perhaps Angel Reese and Shaquille O’Neal laughed about it afterwards, but from what you can see in the video below, it wasn’t a topic she really wanted to discuss at all. After all, Reese has enough on her plate to deal with on the gossip train without another antic-heavy headline to add to the pile. She recently commented on how her WNBA salary allegedly doesn’t even cover her rent.

Shaq & Angel Reese’s Awkward Podcast Interaction: See Comments For Reactions

This prompted Cam’ron to give Angel Reese some advice on this matter on his It Is What It Is show, albeit after joking about her remarks at first. “I’m having fun a little but seriously, make sure that you stay on top of all that because you’re young, you’re pretty, you have a lot going on,” he shared. “Outside of the WNBA I’m pretty sure you have a lot of money coming in endorsements. Don’t take it for granted and don’t sit here and think that it’s going to last forever because you’re still young, you have a lot of time. Make sure you watch your money.”

Elsewhere, Shaq also dealt with some drama this year after he slid into the DMs of Toosii’s girlfriend. The rapper actually thought that the former basketball player was talking about his son in his message, but was actually referring to just lusting for his girl. Let’s see if he speaks on these comments…

Bronny James’ Los Angeles Lakers Debut Gets The Meme Treatment

Bronny James is one of the biggest names in basketball this year thanks to the fact that his father is LeBron James. Overall, Bronny’s foray into the NBA has been controversial. Many felt like it was undeserved when the Lakers drafted him. Moreover, his preseason was not the greatest, aside from one match in which he scored 17 points. Heading into the season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, it was anticipated that Bronny would get some minutes.

Again, some basketball fans were very much against this. However, no one could deny just how incredible it was when Bronny walked onto the court for the first time with his dad right next to him. Bronny only got to play for about three minutes. He picked up a rebound and missed a three-point shot that would have been assisted by his dad. Having said that, the Lakers were able to win agaisnt the reigning Western Conference Finalists, which is a big achievement, especially in JJ Redick’s first game as head coach.

Speaking with Men’s Health for a new interview ahead of the start of his first NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Bronny explained how the incident went down as well as the emotions he was battling.

He began by explaining that he was just drinking a smoothie after doing running drills at the University of Southern California when he blacked out and doesn’t remember anything else about the moment. “There were a whole bunch of categories that what had happened could fall under, so yeah. There were a whole lot of emotions,” he said.

Donte DiVincenzo Calls Out Tom Thibodeau During Fiery Return To New York

Donte DiVincenzo appeared to call out his former head coach, Tom Thibodeau, during his return to Madison Square Garden after the Knicks traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves as a part of a blockbuster trade. After the preseason game on Sunday, he also needed to be separated from Knicks assistant Rick Brunson during a tense exchange of words.

“I can’t finish, right Thibs,” DiVincenzo allegedly yelled at head coach Tom Thibodeau making a contested layup. While at the foul line, he added: “That’s what happens when they let you run the show.”

DiVincenzo addressed his feelings about the trade while speaking with The New York Daily News at his locker before the game. “The timing is obviously not the most ideal, so figuring out the living situation, getting the family comfortable. That’s like the first thing you try to do. Because the basketball kind of takes care of itself,” DiVincenzo said. “You think about anything when you’re on the court. When you’re off the court, you just have to figure out logistics of life. I think that’s the biggest adjustment.”

LeBron James And Bronny James Make History By Sharing The Court For The First Time: Watch

LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, made NBA history on Sunday night by taking the court at the same time in the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. During the second quarter of the matchup, Bronny checked into the game to join his father on the court. The day coincided with the celebration of his 20th birthday.

“It’s surreal,” Lakers Head Coach JJ Redick said before the game, as caught by ESPN. “It’ll be fun when they’re on the court together. I’m excited about it. I’m very honored that I get to be part of history.” He also promised that the moment would occur “in the flow of the game” and wouldn’t be “gimmicky.” The Lakers ended up dropping the game 118-114, as LeBron contributed 19 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds. Bronny chimed in with just 2 rebounds in his 13 minutes of action.

When the NBA shared the moment on social media, fans had mixed responses. Many celebrated the wholesome situation, such as one user on X (formerly Twitter) who wrote: “That’s a historic moment for both LeBron and Bronny! Seeing them share the court is a dream come true for many basketball fans. It’s not often you get to witness a father-son duo at such a high level of competition.” Others joked about Bronny being a nepotism hire for the Lakers. One annoyed fan wrote: “Wow so amazing this guy forced his team to waste a draft pick and a spot on their bench for his own kids who isn’t remotely a NBA caliber player just so he could add that little bit to his resume.”
