Noise Pop 2022 Brings Azealia Banks, Jeff Tweedy, Dorian Electra, And More To Their Stage

For more than 20 years, San Fransisco festival Noise Pop has become known for hosting early-career performances of popular musicians like The White Stripes, Modest Mouse, Joanna Newsom, The Flaming Lips, Death Cab For Cutie, and Grimes. Now ushering in their 29th year as a festival, Noise Pop once again returns in 2022, this time inviting headliners Azealia Banks, Jeff Tweedy, and Dorian Electra to their stage.

Noise Pop just unveiled their full 2022 lineup. Along with the previously mentioned headliners, the festival has booked artists like Alex G, The Drums, King Woman, The Microphones, Kamaal Williams, Titus Andronicus, Arooj Aftab, Sega Bodega, Hand Habits, Moor Mother, Tomberlin, Ian Sweet, Topaz Jones, Uffie, Rituals Of Mine (DJ Set), Man On Man, and many more.

In addition to bringing locals and national artists to the stage, a few of the artists will share a particularly special performance. Bay Area natives The Microphones will return for a hometown show for the first time in 20 years, The Drums will be performing the entirety of their 2011 classic album Portamento, and Titus Andronicus plan to celebrate the (belated) 10-year anniversary of their album The Monitor.

Azealia Banks Celebrates Grimes’ Breakup With Elon Musk With A Request To ‘Make Those Darn Songs’

Azealia Banks is one person elated at the news of Elon Musk and Grimes’ breakup. Posting a screenshot of the Page Six tweet announcing the split to her Instagram, the controversial artist crowed in a caption, “Ok girl, can we finally make those darn songs now that apartheid Clyde is out of the way? We were really supposed to eat these bitches up.”

Back in 2018, when the couple first got together, Grimes invited Banks to Musk’s estate to work on music together but apparently, the weekend didn’t go as planned. Banks eventually went on a tirade against Musk, saying that he avoided her during the visit while scrambling to find investors for Tesla after tweeting about taking the company private. She said that she missed her chance to collaborate with Grimes, who was attending to the stressed-out Musk, calling the whole situation a real-life scene from Get Out. She also says Musk’s staff took her phone.

Musk, meanwhile, denied ever having met Azealia, calling her a compulsive liar (he’s not the first), while earlier this year, Grimes told fans on Discord that her song “100% Tragedy” was about “having to defeat Azealia Banks when she tried to destroy my life.” This prompted Azealia to call Grimes “weird undercover millennial racist” who “doesn’t have the musical capacity i have.”

Something tells me that Grimes isn’t going to be calling Banks to work together again anytime soon.

Azealia Banks Wants DaBaby Canceled But For A Different Reason

Everyone has something to say about North Carolina rapper DaBaby‘s controversial comments during his Rolling Loud performance. From Elton John to Madonna to Miley Cyrus, it was only a matter of time before New York rapper and singer, Azealia Banks shared her thoughts. Grimes Says Her Song ‘100% Tragedy’ Is About ‘Having To Defeat Azealia Banks When She Tried To Destroy My Life’

On Friday, Grimes brought her talents to Splendour XR, a music festival hailed as one of the most technologically advanced virtual showcases. She joined The Killers, Khalid, Charli XCX, Denzel Curry, and more. Grimes herself used her set to debut a new musical project called Grimes Metaverse, according to Billboard. She played her tentatively titled track “100% Tragedy,” which is currently still unreleased. In a chat with the Splendour XR music festival, the singer shared new details about the upcoming song.

In the chat, Grimes wrote that the song “is about having to defeat Azealia Banks when she tried to destroy my life.” This is in reference to a 2018 incident where Banks claimed she was at “Elon Musk’s house alone for days waiting for Grimes,” which fueled a lawsuit involving Tesla. A subpoena for Banks was proposed in order to have her testify against him involving claims of Musk fraudulently misleading investors.

Banks caught wind of Grimes’ comments shortly afterwards and responded on her Instagram page. “So you go make a bootleg @inna song about it. Yikes,” she wrote. “Grimes def has some psychosexual obsession with me. i think it’s bitterness cuz she doesn’t have the musical capacity i have. everything she does is out of pretentiousness and it comes out like that … while everything i do is out of natural swag & geniusness lmaoo.” She added, “Starting to notice all the weird undercover millennial racists hide out on discord.”

Azealia Banks Insults Kanye West And Accuses Him Of Copying Her Art

As Kanye West is getting ready to release his album Donda, the rapper has made his return to social media. On Instagram yesterday, he shared some photos of himself wearing chains that feature the names of his children. While hip-hop fans are excited (or at least curious) about what Kanye has coming next, that post seems to have rubbed Azealia Banks the wrong way, as she thinks West ripped her off.

Today, she took to Instagram and shared the cover art for her 2019 song “Billionaire Bully,” which is definitely visually similar to West’s new images. She then shared one of the West photos and captioned the post with an insult: “Should have exfoliated before trying to bite me. @kanyewest”

However, she seemed to contradict the insult with a follow-up photo, which features her hand sporting fake nails that read “YEEZY.”

The accusation and insult also come after a stretch of apparent fascination about West from Banks. She recently insisted that her new single “F*ck Him All Night” is about West, saying, “This is about f*ckin him all day and f*cking him all night. This is about the throbbing black billionaire c*ck. Get into it.” In April, she also said she wants to have a kid with West, writing, “The powerful black demon entity awaiting in my ovaries and kanyes testicle is finally about to be unleashed upon the world.”

Banks fans know that all of this comes after years of beef between her and West, so at this point, it’s hard to say how Banks truly feels about West.

Azealia Banks’ Historical Response To Candace Owen’s Inane Juneteenth Comment Is A Complete Shutdown

Love her or hate her, sometimes Azealia Banks is the only woman for the job at hand. Sometimes she’s off on her own planet, trying to discredit Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting claims, or literally boiling her dead cat, but sometimes she’s right on the money. And today’s job at hand? Speaking truth to Candace Owens, the insistently right-wing, Conservative pundit — who also happens to be a Black woman — who tends to make claims like using “they/them” pronouns is “poor grammar,” or declaring the recognition of Juneteenth as a national holiday an extension of “segregation.”

Juneteenth was, rather famously, the day that African-Americans in Texas were liberated after they were purposely kept ignorant of Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and remained in slavery for more than two years after the practice was outlawed. But Owens is, for some reason, against making it clear that Black Americans weren’t really free on the 4th of July back in 1776 and recognizing Juneteenth as a federal holiday, like the Senate just unanimously agreed to do. So, Banks broke down for her just what a day in the life for a Black woman in America would’ve been like back then.

“According to this logic, on July 4, 1776, you would still be enslaved,” Banks wrote as the caption on a screenshot post of Owens’ tweet. “Most likely on the verge of starvation due to all of America’s food supply having been prioritized for the war, while you hand sew American flags and struggle to wet nurse some depressed 24-year-old white widow’s sickly child until your nipples are chapped and dry. Whereafter, you will be whipped by her 80-year-old uncle for your own malnourishment and inability to produce milk, then sent to toil over a wood-burning stove — blistering your hands while [being] forced to make a peasantly meal of biscuits and gravy.

You will be watched closely by her irate, sunburned and whisky soaked 80 year old uncle to be sure you do not sneak a single biscuit or fingerful of roux to yourself. after you’ve watched everyone eat, you will be sent to do the cleaning up. Your last task will be brushing the stressed and balding white widows hair to prepare for her sleeping bonnet, a deep rest in her comfortable canopy bed. Next your final descent down the stairs and out the back door where you proudly sleep on a bed bug infested pile of hay in a 6×4 cabin you share with 4 other slaves. Happy Independence Day @realcandaceowens.”

What else is there to say?
