Cardi B Explains Her Controversial Joke About Atlantic Records Being A Prison

Cardi B ruffled a few feathers with her latest Instagram Story post for a couple of reasons. For those unaware, she posted a picture of her in the studio on Wednesday (August 28) that referred to it as the “Atlantic Records correctional facilities.” While a lot of people didn’t like how the Bronx femcee was seemingly unenthused about working on her long-awaited sophomore album, others took more direct issue with comparing this kind of career with a prison. Regardless of what side of these criticism she took the most issue with, she blasted the critics all the same in a new tweet on Thursday (August 29).

“The fact that I made a little joke about the studio because I been mixing and mastering about 40-50 songs and y’all turned that into I hate creating is crazy,” Cardi B shared with her followers. “This why artists don’t interact anymore cuz y’all will take one little joke and stretch it wider than y’all a**holes. God forbid I make a little sarcastic jokey jokey about motherhood y’all gonna claim I hate my kids and call cps…dweebs.” “HITS AND BEAUTIFUL A** KIDS,” she clapped back at a fan asking what she does create.

Cardi B Claps Back At Critics Of Her Atlantic Records Joke

In other news, amid Cardi B’s third pregnancy and Offset divorce, she revealed that she didn’t like the short time that she spent living in Atlanta. “I don’t live in Atlanta, I have a house in Atlanta,” she told social media. “I only go to Atlanta like three or four times a year. And probably I go for a week, maybe less. I tried to move to Atlanta in 2018 and I lived there for like six months. And I hated it. I don’t have not one friend in Atlanta, and I don’t have not even one family member in Atlanta. So I just don’t like Atlanta.”

More Responses

Meanwhile, it seems like Cardi B might have a new hip-hop suitor in the form of Pooh Shiesty, although Offset might have taken issue with that. Regardless, it’s going to be exciting to see what she has in store for the rest of the year. Some conflicting reports emerged over the past months as to whether or not this sophomore project will come out in 2024 or later. Hopefully, the Bardi Gang will have more reason to celebrate before we ring in the New Year.

Cardi B Compares Atlantic Records To A “Correctional Facility”

Cardi B likened Atlantic Records to a “correctional facility” in a post on her Instagram Story on Tuesday night. “Back at Atlantic records correctional facilities,” she captioned a video of herself walking around a music studio. The post quickly began circulating online with fans joking about how long it’s taking for her to finish her long-awaited sophomore album.

“She just like me when it’s time to go to work” one user joked on X (formerly Twitter). Others argued that she should’ve just dropped the album already. One wrote: “She should’ve dropped when she was supposed to originally .. could’ve been playing the songs on the radi though the summer instead of the winter … now they have to push the music into award season instead of when it’s hot.”

Cardi has confirmed that her album will be dropping at some point in 2024 on multiple occasions. Speaking with Rolling Stone back in the spring, she claimed that she wouldn’t be returning home until it was done. “Until I have the album ready, I’m not going home,” she said at the time. “I’m a different person every single day. When I’m in a good mood and I’m with my friends, [I’m] like, ‘Damn, I want my sh*t to be played in this club.’ But then I might be mad with my man, so it’s like now I want to do this song. But then I want to do a pop record. I want to do my sing-y sh*t.”

Cardi B Calls Out Atlanta Records

Despite her promise, there’s been plenty of drama in her personal life that may have had an impact on her studio time. In July, she officially filed for divorce from her longtime husband, Offset. Be on the lookout for further updates on Cardi B on HotNewHipHop.

Kanye West Puts Atlantic Records On Blast Over Alleged “Vultures” Threats

Last weekend, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign finally unveiled their new album Vultures 2, but the release was anything but typical. For one, it arrived by surprise following multiple delays. Amid complaints about its quality, Ye also promised to deliver updated versions of songs in real time. He also dropped several exclusive bonus tracks in the past couple of days. They boast features from the likes of Kid Cudi, Kodak Black, and more.

Now, the Chicago-born artist has taken to his Instagram Story to put Atlantic Records on blast. In a screenshot, someone lets Ye know that Atlantic Group chairman Julie Greenwald “just got fired.” They added that Greenwald said, “The new head is not going to give [them] a grace period to handle Atlantic’s compensation.” Finally, he warned Ye that “if [they] don’t handle immediately,” meaning paying Atlantic 40% of all revenue from Vultures 1 and Vultures 2, they’ll be taken down.

Kanye West Puts Atlantic Records On Blast Over Alleged “Vultures” Threats

“This is what ‘they’ do to independent artists,” Ye wrote alongside the screenshot. “Who’s the new head of Atlantic?” His posts come shortly after Greenwald revealed that she’ll be stepping down from her position in September, and staying on board to assist incoming CEO Elliot Grainge until January. Ye’s collaborator, Ty Dolla Sign, is currently signed to Atlantic. This could explain why they’re looking for a cut of Vultures 1 and Vultures 2.

Ye just returned to Instagram earlier this week after months away. Fans were curious what kind of things they’d be hearing from him now that he’s back. Clearly, he didn’t hesitate before using the platform to call out Atlantic. What do you think of Kanye West accusing Atlantic Records of threatening to take down Vultures 1 and Vultures 2 unless they receive 40% of all revenue from both albums? Are you surprised or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Cardi B Claims She’s The Reason Record Labels Are Signing Female Rappers

There’s been a flurry of new Cardi B news this week as fans are having their expectations of a new album dragged back and forth. That started when Cardi took to twitter to claim that her long-awaited second studio effort wouldn’t actually come out this year. It’s been 6 years since her debut Invasion Of Privacy dropped back in 2018. Fans were hoping that the release of two singles earlier this year, “Like What (Freestyle)” and “Enough (Miami),” would lead to the release of the highly-anticipated follow-up.

But after Cardi claimed on Twitter that she was taking the time to relax instead of releasing a new album those hopes seemed dashed. The first good news for fans came when she deleted the tweet where she makes the claim, seemingly hinting that it may not be true after all. Even better news came earlier today when Atlantic Records tweeted in response to the new Rolling Stone story. They claimed that there was very much still a new Cardi album dropping this year, seemingly contradicting her now-deleted tweet. News on the potential release of new music is currently as imprecise as it’s ever been, but that hasn’t stopped fans from unpacking the details of her new cover story. Check out one of the most attention-grabbing claims she makes below.

Cardi B Takes Credit For Influx Of Female Rappers

In one particular moment of the interview, Cardi makes a bold claim about her influencing labels to sign female rappers. “People from every single label have f*cking told me this sh*t in my face. THey started signing new female rappers after I got signed,” she claims. Elsewhere in the interview she also claimed that she’s skipping voting in the next American elections as she doesn’t like either candidate.

What do you think of Cardi B claiming that she inspired labels to sign more female artists in the wake of her successful debut album? Do you agree with her that she’s the reason for the influx of new female rappers? Let us know in the comment section below.

Cardi B Contradicted By Her Own Record Label After Saying Her Album Isn’t Dropping This Year

It’s been a back-and-forth week of news for Cardi B fans. After teasing her new album repeatedly last year, she eventually had to level with fans and confirm that it wasn’t dropping in 2023. The teasing continued into 2024 and even elevated to dropping new singles. Cardi has shared both “Like What (Freestyle)” and “Enough (Miami)” so far this year. While the former was met with mostly underwhelmed shrugs the latter has performed far better both with fans and on the charts.

But as fans felt the momentum towards a new album building, Cardi shared some surprising news in a tweet a few days ago. While responding to a fan claiming she’s earned a break from social media, Cardi seemed to imply that she’s earned a break from everything. She claimed in the now-deleted tweet that her album was no longer dropping in 2024 so she could relax instead. But in the wake of a her newly revealed Rolling Stone Cover Story, her label tweeted something different. “Cardi B’s upcoming album is one of the most anticipated this year. We can’t wait put it out, even if we have to sneak into her studio and take it!” Atlantic Records said in a recent tweet. The claim that it will be one of the best albums of “this year” seems to contradict what Cardi claimed. Check out Atlantic’s newest post about Cardi’s album below.

Joyner Lucas Says Atlantic Records Was “A F***ed Up Scam” After Being Promised To Work With Artists Like Cardi B

Before Joyner Lucas became a star rapper, he was doing big things independently. However, like most artists who are trying to grow even larger, signing with a major label is the way to go. Unfortunately, for the Massachusetts artist, the opposite was true. Joyner Lucas signed to one of the biggest names in the industry in 2016, Atlantic Records, releasing one project under them. That was 508-507-2209, which spawned one of his first massive hits, “Ultrasound.” Outside of that though, his experience was not all that great and was not what he was promised. Joyner detailed what went on behind the scenes for him in a recent interview on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast. According to HipHopDX, the major takeaway was that it was a scam in his eyes.

Joyner Lucas went onto roughly describe how Atlantic Records tried to sell him anything he wanted. As you will come to learn, he was looking forward to working with the label’s biggest names like Cardi B and Ed Sheeran. However, it was a, “f***ed up scam.” “They find an artist. They do a little research. They’ll have the artist come in. Everybody at the table will make it seem like they’ve been rocking with this artist for so long,” Lucas said.

Joyner Lucas Feels Atlantic Records Is “A Big Sham”

He then went onto to say how they wrapped up his walk-through. “Then they walk you through the f***ing building, they got all these n****s on f***ing big a** pictures. It’s like a museum. You see all the hottest, popping artists. “And then when you’re walking down that hall, at the end they got a picture of you. And they say, ‘Look, this could be you right here. All we missing is you!” Lucas concluded by revealing that they never fulfilled those promises, “It’s a big sham, n****… As soon as you leave, everyone’s like, ‘[laughing] we got them n****s!’”

What are your thoughts on Joyner Lucas speaking this negatively about Atlantic Records and other major labels in general? Do you think his stories are true or fabricated and why? What major artists would have you liked to see him work with from Atlantic? Do you think he made the right move by going independent? Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Joyner Lucas. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the world of music.

Kevin Gates Drops Nearly Featureless Record “The Ceremony”

Kevin Gates is one of the more interesting characters in the rap game. He is unapologetically unfiltered in interviews and it usually leads to hilarious moments. Some are more questionable than others, though. However, he is also someone who cares a lot about being a role model for the younger generation. While “Thinking with My D***” might not be a glowing representation of him, Gates is a huminatarian at heart.

Which was why at the end of last year he received a prestigious award from the New Orleans mayor for his efforts. He addresses some of those topics on tracks like “Protect Children” off his brand-new album The Ceremony. However, the main themes are about the celebration of his career, hence the title. Interestingly this is only Gates’ fourth studio album out of the many projects he has dropped in his career.

Listen To The Ceremony By Kevin Gates

Gates relentlessly teased this tape for months and even put together a listening party for it nearly a week ago. The rollout for the album began back in May of 2023 with “Do It Again.” After that point, Kevin would put out five more singles. That includes “Yonce Freestyle” with the only features, B.G. and an unhinged Sexyy Red. Check out the full-length above from the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, The Ceremony, by Kevin Gates? What tracks are you gravitating toward the most so far and why? Who had the better feature, B.G. or Sexyy Red? Is this Gates best album in the last several years, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Kevin Gates.
