Dionne Warwick Says Doja Cat Never Reached Out For Sample As She Makes It Clap In Bathrobe

As one of the biggest and most acclaimed hits of the year, it was very hard to avoid Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” in 2023. However, it seems like the song’s point of inspiration never even heard about what the song wanted to do before it actually came out. Moreover, Dionne Warwick recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show and spoke about how the rapper and singer sampled her hit “Walk On By” in the chart-topper. At one point, she recalled not even knowing that Doja wanted to record that song, at which point Clarkson brought up that they probably had to ask permission to clear the sample.

Then, Warwick said that she didn’t hear anything about clearing the sample, but still showed love to the song and thanked Doja Cat for introducing her work to a whole new generation. As such, it seems like there are no hard feelings here about this song becoming so huge, even if the 82-year-old was a bit out of the loop. Of course, it’s entirely possible that this sample clearance occurred between each artist’s teams and not between them personally. We might never know for sure, but the important thing is that this is an amicable relationship.

Dionne Warwick On “Paint The Town Red” Sample: Watch

Funnily enough, given that she’s such a legend in music, it’s no surprise that this wasn’t Dionne Warwick’s first hip-hop crossover. Her other famous one is much different, though, as it involves her reprimanding Snoop Dogg and his crew about their lyrics. “We were kind of, like, scared and shook up,” Tha Doggfather told CNN about her words. “We’re powerful right now, but she’s been powerful forever: thirty-some years in the game, in the big home with a lot of money and success. We were the most gangster as you could be, but that day at Dionne Warwick’s house, I believe we got out-gangstered that day. I made it a point to put out records of joy. Dionne, I hope I became the jewel that you saw when I was the little, dirty rock that was in your house. I hope I’m making you proud.”

Meanwhile, the Scarlet hitmaker hasn’t commented on this, but she did show how she can make it clap with no hands. It’s been nice to see her having fun online amid a lot of busy movement. While Doja recently apologized for a lackluster concert on tour, hopefully the rest of it picks up with grace and excitement. For more on Dionne Warwick and Doja Cat, log back into HNHH.

Redman Doubles Down On Eminem’s Best Rappers Of All Time List

One of the most iconic lyrical moments in Eminem’s whole career is when he breaks down his best rappers of all time list on one of his biggest songs, 2002’s The Eminem Show cut “‘Till I Collapse.” “It goes Reggie, Jay-Z, Tupac, and Biggie / André from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, and then me,” he raps on the track. While everyone on this list deserves placement, no one is more happy or honored by it than the top spot, Reggie. Moreover, he took to Instagram on Wednesday (July 26) to share some pictures of his new shirt, including one of Slim Shady wearing it. The design quotes the first part of those bars, and was made in collaboration with the NYC skating store Richmond Hood.

“My Young Bro @eminem stay Repping and got his IT GOES REGGIE TEE !” the Wu-Tang Clan-affiliated MC wrote. “ONLY at www.Richmondhood.com. @richmondhoodco. If it ain’t got the Yellow Tag it’s a FAKE !! F**k with the ORIGINALS.” Of course, there’s a lot of mutual respect between Marshall Mathers and Redman, which they spoke about together in 2015.

Redman Promotes Eminem’s Iconic Best Rappers List For Good Reason

“I was cleaning out my closet, pun intended,” Eminem said on Shade 45. “Ran across this old picture and s**t. I was like, ‘What the f**k is? Oh, s**t.’ I realized, the first time I had ever went to New York, we actually, we went to Jersey [and] me and Bizarre went to record with the Outsidaz. And somehow, I can’t remember who we was in the car with, but I know Pace [Won] was with us and we had actually ended up stopping by your house. So I’m like, ‘Oh, s**t. That’s the picture I took out the back window of your house on some fan s**t.’ It was like, ‘Holy s**t, that’s Redman’s house.’”

“You’re one of my favorite artists, too,” the Jersey legend replied. “Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ve got my support over here, brother.” In other interviews, Em also shouted out Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Joyner Lucas, and Lil Wayne as some inspirational figures. Also, he’s previously praised Kool G Rap, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Treach of Naughty By Nature, KRS-One, Pharoahe Monch, and many more. Rick Ross Gets Official Approval For Car Show, Takes Shots At DJ Envy’s Wife

The beef between Rick Ross and DJ Envy over their respective car shows has been one of the more bizarre feuds of the year. Not only are they in relatively separate camps when it comes to their cultural contributions, but many critics of the spat believe that it’s gone a little too far for what it’s worth. Now, thanks to a recent Instagram Story post from Rozay, things just went a whole lot father in that direction. In the clip, he proposes a “one-time opportunity” of employment to The Breakfast Club host’s wife. As the prompt suggests, it’s not exactly a friendly offer.

“It’s the Biggest Boss,” Rick Ross started his video. “June 3rd, I’m providing jobs. DJ Envy-ous, I got a job for your girlfriend. This is a one time opportunity. Your girlfriend has the opportunity to be my pickleball paddle polisher. My pickleball paddle polisher! You hear me? Let her know. While they cleaning the pools…” and he proceeded to swing the paddle back and forth in a suggestive manner. “Yeah! Enjoy your day.

Rick Ross’ Message To DJ Envy’s Wife

“Now, I know this ain’t in DJ Envy book,” Rick Ross continued in a separate Story post. “I might help you sell some books, but your girlfriend faked an orgasm for two decades? Oh, she needs a motherf***ing paddle. Tell her I got her.” Furthermore, the last big development in this feud was the media personality dressing up as a correctional officer for his radio show. “I could tell he was rattled,” Envy remarked of the rapper’s response to his shots. “So I wore this today to make him feel a little more comfortable.” However, maybe Ross will be a little more comfortable now that he’s apparently gotten official approval to run his car show.

Rozay Shows Off Apparent Approval For His Event

As previously reported, it seemed like officials refused to give the official permit for the event to take place. Still, it seems like now there are little barriers to prevent the showdown from happening. Unfortunately, the beef got really nasty as a result, and is that ever worth it when both actors are trying to help their communities? Regardless, come back to HNHH for the latest updates on Rick Ross and DJ Envy, and for more news on this beef.
