Adidas has announced that it will be donating the proceeds from sales of the surplus of Yeezy sneakers to the Anti-Defamation League as well as the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change. CEO Bjørn Gulden revealed the company’s decision in a press release on Friday. The company has more than $1 billion worth of leftover Yeezy sneakers.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to begin releasing some of the remaining adidas YEEZY products,” Gulden said in a press release. He further explained: “Selling and donating was the preferred option among all organizations and stakeholders we spoke to. We believe this is the best solution as it respects the created designs and produced shoes, it works for our people, resolves an inventory problem, and will have a positive impact in our communities. There is no place in sport or society for hate of any kind and we remain committed to fighting against it.”
“At a time when antisemitism has reached historic levels in the U.S. and is rising globally, we appreciate how adidas turned a negative situation into a very positive outcome,” ADL CEO Jonathan A. Greenblatt added in the statement. “They have shown real thoughtfulness in engaging with community organizations working to combat this pernicious and stubborn hatred. Their leadership, in not only condemning anti-Jewish hate but lending their support for education and other initiatives, is exemplary and a model for other public companies to emulate. We thank them for their ongoing dialogue around their remaining inventory and their vested interest in tackling issues of prejudice and hate.”
The decision comes after Adidas cut off ties with Kanye West. During a Drink Champs interview in October 2022, West falsely claimed that George Floyd died because of fentanyl and not from Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin placing his knee on his neck. He also made antisemitic remarks many times throughout the year.
The Adidas restock is officially confirmed. Following reports of a renewed partnership and UK page loading, Adidas India released a promotional image for the YEEZY line for a June 1 release.
The YEEZY brand is set to release the Yeezy 350 “Pirate Black”, Zebra 350s, Utility Black 500s, the Yeezy Foam Runner, and Yeezy Slides. According to Sneaker News, new Yeezy Styles never seen before will be introduced to the public.
Hypebeast, highlighted the sign of initial restocks of Yeezy products on the adidas UK website.
The report states the product pages for the YEEZY 350 BOOST V2 “Zebra” and the YEEZY 500 “Utility Black” will be of the launch. Both models can be spotted on the site by searching “Yeezy Trainers.” Currently, there is no specific date set for the launch.
News of the renewed partnership comes via the YEEZY MAFIA, a source of all things Yeezy, including his sneaker line.
Confirming the news, Reuters states Adidas CEO Bjoern Gulden revealed the renewed partnership to move some of the merchandise and donate a portion of the proceeds to international organizations.
A reported $1.3 billion in Yeezy-branded Adidas products are sitting in storage after the partnership was ended over the rapper’s antisemitic statements. Gulden stated plans for how Adidas will continue with the sale are not in place.
“What we are trying to do now over time is to sell some of this merchandise … burning the goods would not be a solution,” Gulden said.
Donating the sneakers was not an option out of fear the sneakers would reach the secondary market. Adidas stock is up 2% so far on the day. Ye would still receive 15% of the sales.
Speaking on the rapper, Culden stated about Ye, “As difficult as he was, he is perhaps the most creative mind in our industry.”
Although, now, the remaining Adidas Yeezy sneakers will be sold off as a way for Adidas to recoup some cash. Furthermore, Ye will get his 15 percent royalty, while some of the profits will go to organizations that combat anti-Semitism. Needless to say, this is a solution that clearly works for both parties. However, fans have been wondering when this sell-off will take place. According to Sneaker Bar Detroit, Adidas India may have accidentally leaked this information.
As the report states, Adidas India posted a graphic on its website that showcased a plethora of Adidas Yeezy sneakers. This includes the 350 V2, Foam Runner, Slides, Yeezy 500, and even the Yeezy 450. Furthermore, it was also stated on the website that this restock would take place on June 1st. As soon as people caught on to what was happening, the images and graphics were taken down.
That said, this could serve as a solid barometer for when fans can expect these drops to happen. Unfortunately, no information as it pertains to the United States has been released. Hopefully, some new information is revealed very soon. Let us know which Adidas Yeezy colorways you are hoping to see from this drop, in the comments section below. Trae Young is currently one of the best point guards in the entire NBA. Overall, he is someone who has dominated the floor and continuously carries his team. Although he is not beloved by the rest of the NBA fandom, Hawks supporters certainly do love him. He is the backbone of that franchise, and he will hopefully remain there for years to come. Moreover, Young has become someone who has been able to secure a lot of endorsements for himself. For instance, he currently works with the likes of Adidas.
Just a couple of years ago, he was given the Adidas Trae Young 1. Subsequently, Young got hit with a lot of praise from fans. This is a signature shoe that impressed a whole lot of people. With Nike getting all of the attention in the basketball world, Adidas was able to steal quite a bit of thunder. Last year, fans got the Adidas Trae Young 2, and soon, the third iteration will be hitting the market. In fact, @allinlivee on Instagram has offered up a leak of the new TY 3 model.
As you can see in this Instagram post, it is rumored that the shoe will be out sometime in September. Moreover, the silhouette is quite interesting, albeit in line with what Adidas has been doing. As for the very first colorway, fans can expect something that is pink, orange, and black. When you put all of these elements together, you get a sneaker that is going to turn heads, but also be a bit polarizing.
Of course, these are leaked images which means you should not expect any release dates or prices just yet. However, these should be dropping at some point later this year, which means more details are on the way. Hopefully, Trae Young or Adidas keep us enlightened, very soon. Anthony Edwards is a player who has been doing some great things on the court. Although his Minnesota Timberwolves can’t get out of the first round, ANT has been fun to watch. Overall, he has a very bright future ahead of him, and any fan can see that. Moreover, he is a player who has the Jimmy Butler mindset. He can trash talk while also backing it up. Sure, he may have some off nights, but when he wants to be a powerhouse, he can flip that switch. Needless to say, he is worthy of being labeled as a star.
When you are a star in the NBA, endorsements subsequently follow you. Since entering the league, Anthony Edwards has been signed to Adidas. This has led to speculation that he would eventually get his very own signature sneaker. Well, thanks to some recent images that have popped up on social media, it seems like these rumors have become true. Although Adidas has yet to confirm anything, @allinlivee has provided images of the Adidas Anthony Edwards 1. In the image below, you can see a couple of colorways.
Anthony Edwards Has A New Shoe On The Way
Firstly, we get a sneaker that contains a blue mesh base. Moreover, there is some black on the top. Secondly, the other colorway is just white and black. It is a bit more basic, but it gets the job done. As for the silhouette, this looks like a Yeezy basketball shoe. Considering this is an Adidas model, that association makes sense. However, with Ye out at Adidas, perhaps he will be looking at this design quite closely. Either way, this is a very out-there model for a first attempt at a signature. Hopefully, Anthony Edwards provides more information on these soon.
At the time of writing this, there are no release details on these. Moreover, Adidas has yet to confirm if this is really the final version of the Adidas Anthony Edwards 1. No matter what, this is a shoe that will cause some chatter. Let us know what you think of this sneaker, in the comments section below.
